In modernen Büros, pädagogischen Einrichtungen und öffentlichen Gebäuden, werden zunehmend mobile Abteile eingesetzt, mit denen sich Raumbereiche innerhalb eines größeren Innenraums eines Gebäudes von der Umgebung abgrenzen lassen, ohne hierfür die Gebäudestruktur anzupassen. Mittels solcher Abteile lassen sich insbesondere auf einfache Weise kleine und mehr oder weniger abgeschlossene Raumbereiche in einer großräumigen, offenen Gebäudestruktur schaffen, die insbesondere vorteilhaft für Besprechungen mit vergleichsweise kleiner Teilnehmerzahl nutzbar sind. Das erfindungsgemäße Abteil ist daher im Folgenden als „Besprechungsabteil“ bezeichnet, ohne hierdurch die Nutzungsmöglichkeiten des Abteils beschränken zu wollen.
