Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung eines Bodenbelages mit mindestens einer unteren Schicht aus thermoplastischem Material und darauf angeordneten Steinplatten und den Bodenbelag selbst. Bei dem Verfahren wird in einem ersten Abschnitt einer Bandpresse zunächst das granulierte Material vorverdichtet. Dann werden in einer so genannten oberen Lücke Steinplatten auf das vorverdichtete Material aufgelegt. In einem weiteren Abschnitt werden dann mit einer weiteren Bandpresse die Steinplatten mit der thermoplastischen Bahn verbunden. Die Vorrichtung ist durch die obere Lücke gekennzeichnet.
