Description
HINTERGRUNDBACKGROUND
Technisches GebietTechnical area
The invention describes a method for product protection, in which an object is identified and / or authenticated on the basis of at least one marking, and a system with components which are suitable for this purpose.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
To protect against counterfeiting, various marking and authentication methods are known. In essence, these are based on the use of unique object features, which are determined and stored by suitable metrological methods, possibly in combination with statistical-mathematical methods in a comparable manner. Thus, it is possible to subsequently identify and authenticate a once-captured object.

In the brochure of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research: Innovations against product piracy, from November 2010 on page 26 a procedure for the product protection by means of a printing or engraving marking on the product or its packaging is described. The production of such a mark, together with peculiarities in the surface quality of the object to be marked, generates random surface properties which serve as security features for distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit products. The security features are first recorded by means of a high-speed camera and stored in a database, so that they can later be compared by means of recordings of high-resolution optical systems such as scanners or mobile phones with special macro-optics.
The known methods and systems for product protection have a number of disadvantages, so the imprint of a mark on a product depending on the surface texture is not always equally well possible and other z. As mechanical marking methods such as engraving are less suitable for mass production compared to printing process from an economic point of view and have the risk of a negative impact on durability or function of special products such. As ophthalmic lenses or forces transmitting and safety-related parts in the aircraft and automotive industry. The disadvantages of non-permanent marking in printing processes and, for example, the risk of microcracks in mechanical engraving processes, which can be propagated through permanent, dynamic stress until component failure, limit the industrial applicability of previous methods. To make matters worse, that engraving are generally not forgery-proof, as copy technologies continue to evolve and many security features are already faked with the appropriate effort.
AUFGABE UND LÖSUNGTASK AND SOLUTION
The invention has the object to provide a method and system for product protection, which for the identification and authentication of objects such. As luxury items, medicines, packaging or documents with natural and / or artificially generated mark can be used. It is of eminent importance that the highest possible protection at low process and system costs is achieved in order to ensure the cost-effectiveness of the product protection process, even for comparatively cheap mass products.
This object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1 and a system having the features of claim 14. Preferred embodiments are mentioned in the dependent claims.
In order to minimize the disadvantages of known solutions, in particular with regard to uniqueness, resistance and product impairment by an additional marking is not sufficient, existing individual features of the object, or in addition to these, a non-reproducible marking by means of electromagnetic radiation, preferably by means of laser radiation , created on or in the object. At the latest after In this processing step, the object has the appropriate for the identification and authentication, unique or unique features, which by means of a suitable measurement method and system such. As a camera or a suitable, sufficiently known to those skilled in the sensor system, which physical, geometric, mechanical, electrical, magnetic, thermal, radio and photometric, acoustic, biological and / or time-based measurements of an object can capture and the measured values preferably in digital Provides form for reuse.
Subsequently, the measurement result itself, partially or in a modified manner in a suitable form z. B. in a database with the manufacturer or a trusted body z. B. stored under a certified Internet address.
The measurement result can also be stored in a different way. For example, it is possible statistical-mathematical methods such. As correlation, cross-correlation, autocorrelation, cluster analysis or factor analysis to apply and store their results instead of the measurement result. Was the measurement result, z. B. via a camera, taken as an image, this can also by image processing and / or image compression method such. B. filtering or JPEG compression are processed and stored instead of the measurement result. It goes without saying that in addition to such a changed image, the above-described statistical-mathematical methods for further change can be applied and their result or a meaningful part of this result is stored instead of the original measurement result. The measurement result and a thus changed measurement result can optionally be encrypted and / or stored linked with a digital or electronic signature. It is also possible further data such. B. store a product key or a description of the object.
Descriptive parameters and / or data such. B. Position of the measurement or the measuring field, which are necessary for repeated implementation of the measuring method on the object and / or further processing of the measurement results are also stored in a suitable form, so that a later comparison measurement for identification and authentication of the object is easily possible. Such a form of storage may, for. B. by the marking of the measuring field on or in the object, for example by means of frames or position crosses, by depositing the data in a readable code on the object, by depositing on a connected third storage medium or in a database or else by instructions for measuring method in an operating manual for the product. In cases where a tag is uniquely identifiable by human or measurement system with software, the tamper-proof tag may itself already contain sufficient descriptive parameters for performing a retake. In practice, a marking of the measuring field, in which the mark is located by means of laser, printing or engraving technique has proven by a frame or coordinate crosses.
So that an unknown object from a measuring system such. B. a mobile phone with camera can be largely automatically identified and authenticated, additional data can be stored with instructions on the procedure to be performed on the object. This data can be z. B. in an optically readable code, such as a data matrix code, are stored on or within the object and automatically processed codes, commands or information, eg. B. in digital form, via Internet connection and address to a database in which a first measurement is complete, partial or in a modified way for comparison and / or download additional software z. B. is required to carry out the repeat measurement included. In order for such an automatic measurement method with identification and authentication process easily z. B. is started by a mobile phone or other readout system, the respectively standardized or anticipated program or software functions must be exploited. Ideally, the end user does not need to pre-install an "app" or other software for identification and authentication purposes, but generally only has to confirm that the software is automatically downloaded and executed. It is also possible to save the software completely in a suitable code in or on the object or in the operating instructions.
After the readout system has the necessary software and information on the measurement, identification and / or authentication method, a repeat measurement on the object either manually z. B. by an end user by means of operation and positioning z. As a cell phone with camera and Internet connection or automatically z. B. via an automated readout station z. B. take place in a test facility. After the process has been performed, it is clear whether an object such as a product is genuine or a counterfeit. A corresponding message can be output to the user and stored in a suitable manner for further processing.

B. Tablettenverpackungen wirtschaftlich sinnvoll. The random mask device is used as a mask in a processing system, preferably consisting of a laser processing system with a laser source, beam guiding and shaping components and preferably a drive system, for generating a relative movement between the processing system and the object, for the work piece or workpieces to be marked. For the serial marking of objects in particular several masks for parallel use with z. Beam splitting in a roll-to-roll system for generating random, non-reproducible marks for a plurality of objects simultaneously. This roll-to-roll system design is particularly useful in the mass production of mass-produced products such as. B. tablet packaging makes economic sense.

After the object has been provided with suitable counterfeit-proof features such as a mark, these properties are detected by a suitable measuring method. For example, a camera is suitable for this, which picks up an image of a forgery-proof marking on or inside an object and preferably digitizes it. The measurement result z. B. in the form of a digitized image, can then completely, partially or in a modified manner in a suitable form z. B. stored in a database at the manufacturer, which is preferably also suitable for a later external access via remote data connection such as Internet, are. A storage of the measurement result in a modified manner, in particular by further processing of the measurement results by statistical-mathematical methods, such. As correlation, cross-correlation, autocorrelation, cluster analysis or factor analysis done and in the case of image information as a measurement result by image processing and / or image compression method such. B. filtering z. B. Color or brightness values or a JPEG compression. For other measuring methods z. B. non-optical, each have different other methods of change differently good for further processing of the results. Optionally, the complete, partially or further processed measurement results can be encrypted and / or stored linked with a digital or electronic signature. It is also possible further data such. B. store a product key or a description of the object with. Depending on the application, the various processing methods can of course be combined. For example, it may be advantageous to first convert a color image as a measurement result into a black-and-white image, then to optimize the contrast and the brightness by correction, and then to obtain unique features by a statistical-mathematical method, such as e.g. B. a correlation method to isolate and save only this correlation result together with an additional digital signature, encrypted with a cascade encryption of Serpent, AES and Twofish, in a database. By means of such encryption, it can be ensured, for example, that the content of a data record in the database can only be read together with the appropriate object. Advantages of using statistical-mathematical methods and image processing methods are, in particular, the reduction of the data volume to a few, but unique characteristic features of the measurement result, for example, the complete color image need not be stored in a database, but, for example, it is sufficiently the result of an autocorrelation or a Cross-correlation, the application of which is well known to those skilled in the art as well as from the specialist literature, from the measurement result, in the case of color image, to store in the database. An additional digital or electronic signature represents another security feature, which makes it considerably more difficult for counterfeiters to circumvent the product protection procedure. In the case of digital and electronic signatures as well as encryption methods, it is also to be assumed that these will continue to evolve like counterfeiting options and thus achieve a high level of security against product counterfeiting in the long term through the use of future, current digital and electronic signatures and encryption methods. Of course, in the simplest case, alternatively, the possibility of simply saving the image without the above-mentioned processing steps.
After the measurement result is present in a suitable manner and has been stored in a suitable form, the authenticity of the object can be determined by carrying out the measuring procedure on the object again by comparison with the measuring result previously stored in a suitable manner. To carry out the measuring process again, it is necessary to provide the required information for this in a suitable manner. For example, it may be sufficient to mark the measuring area on the object by means of a frame or at least a cross, if the user knows that he or she knows this area z. B. with a mobile phone, which has a special software such as an "app" and camera and Internet connection must photograph, so that a measurement is performed and the software, the measurement result with the previously stored z. B. compares in a manufacturer database and after the identification and authentication on the phone, the result is displayed on the authenticity. Depending on the application, it is possible to completely integrate this necessary information about the measurement into an object marking, so that it is easily recognizable and coincides with the measuring range and can be dispensed with additional marking such as a frame. There are also conceivable applications in which both information and information on the measuring range, measuring methods, processing methods such as statistical mathematical methods, digital or electronic signature and encryption method and even the complete software for the entire process or an automatic command to download and install such software by remote data connection in a code on the object z. B. are stored in the form of a data matrix code. Thus, it is possible for an end user, without any knowledge of the product protection process, to interact with a compatible verification system, such as a computer. B. a suitable phone, such code on an object or an object packaging with his cell phone reads or photographed and the cell phone if necessary by user queries and / or -user instructions, all other steps for the measurement result processing and identification and authentication to the message whether the object was authenticated as authentic Such a solution is particularly user-friendly.
The combination possibilities of non-falsable marking and an additional code for further information on or in an object are manifold. For example, both can be arranged side by side or overlaid in subregions. Such superimposition is also possible to a limited extent with holograms and especially useful for luxury products to negatively affect their value and appearance as little as possible or even further increase by a high-quality security mark.
