Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for configuring a Network according to the characteristics of the respective generic term of the independent Claims.
It is generally known that a network of end devices (network-capable devices such as B. PC, input or output means or the like) data via network replace components (such as a fieldbus). When connecting to such networks and for commissioning must be in the end devices and also at the network components themselves configure communication and operating parameters before data exchange over the network and regular operation possible are. The type of configuration of the parameters depends on the type of network dependent and can be simple or complex, manual or partially automated be carried out and therefore places different demands on the Qualification of the operating personnel.
An important requirement especially in the operation of the control and automation tion technology is the rapid exchange of failed devices or network compos to avoid costly downtimes of the systems or systems to be controlled keep systems as low as possible. The replaced devices or components must be configured in the same way as the failed part before it is put into operation guriert in order to take over their function after the exchange. So the configuration of the communication parameters of fieldbus capable is limited gen devices only that a few switches are set, what can also be carried out by less qualified personnel.
In more recent times, they are actually used for office communications developed network standards (such as Ethernet, local bridges) IEE802.1 and the TCP / IP protocol family) increasingly for control and automation sation tasks used. The configuration of communication and operation Parameters of device and network components are for this network environment much more complex and extensive than with fieldbuses. Perhaps this is still the case acceptable within the office communication, as there qualified staff for Is available and downtimes are not very critical. An extensive confi However, guration cannot in the field of control and automation technology are accepted, because here the downtimes are costly and, as a rule, qualified personnel are not available.
The invention is therefore based on the object for this network environment Method and device for configuring end devices and network Specify components with which the disadvantages described above avoided become.
This object is solved by the features of the independent claims.
According to the invention it is provided that a configuration of at least one end device and / or at least one network component depending on its arbitrary Position within the network connected by one within the network configuration unit. This makes it possible to be central the network via the configuration unit before starting up the network components and the end devices to configure. But also in the event that a End device and / or a network component was defective and was replaced, can the exchanged device or the exchanged network component centrally can be configured via the configuration unit. This makes it possible that after the commissioning of the network if there is no appropriately trained personnel more is available or is only available in a short period of time at Inbe Configuration of the system in this error case in particular to be automatically transferred to the replacement components. The configuration unit is therefore trained by qualified personnel when commissioning a system judges, d. H. with all necessary information about the communication and loading drive parameters of the network components and end devices and the network topolo gie, d. H. about the cabling structure of the network, type, number and location of the End devices, type, number and location of the network components are supplied and can be there after replacement devices or replacement components automatically without manual intervention configure. This automation can do this without manual intervention dropped end device or the failed network component and the replacement device (component) assigned to each other and the replacement device (component) independently, d. H. automatically with the communication and operating parameters of the failed NEN end device or network component can be configured and thus the take over this function.
With appropriate software and graphical representation in the configuration The necessary configuration steps can be graphically displayed rides are shown, so that on the one hand the fastest possible reconfiguration can be done and on the other hand this work also by less qualifi decorated personnel can be executed. The main advantages are that the topology of the network does not have to be rigid, but that with simple steps a configuration of networks with different To technologies, especially for local networks with variable topology such as Ethernet, is made possible by personnel not specially trained for these tasks can be made.
In a development of the invention it is provided that the configuration unit Comparing the actual topology of the network with a target topology. This can Continuously or discontinuously, especially manually flowable from the outside. So monitors the operation Configuration unit in particular continuously the actual topology of the network and detects failures of network comm by comparing it with the target topology components and / or end devices and also afterwards the exchange and connection of replacement devices to the network. Depending on the location of the replacement device or the replacement component, the configuration unit configures the parameters of the Replacement device or the replacement component such. B. the IP address, netmask, Gateway address and the like. For example, standardized Procedures such as BOOTP or DHCP can be used.
In a further development of the invention, the target topology is by manual input and / or can be specified automatically when the network is started up. Through the Specification of the target topology, which is stored in the configuration unit, who all data on the topology of the network when a system is set up or changed hand over works, d. H. the cabling structure of the network, the type, the type of connection number and the location of the network components as well as the type, number and locations of the connected devices. To be flexible in setting up the system, Depending on these requirements, the data transfer from the config ration unit to the end devices or the network components manually. Alternatively, the configuration unit can set up the network topology at Errich Detect or change the system automatically and save it as a setpoint manuals.
In a development of the invention, the configuration unit detects and checks the Exchange of a terminal and / or a network component. This can the configuration unit by recording a current actual topology and the Comparing a temporally subsequent and recorded actual topology recognize that an exchange of the terminal and / or a network component has taken place Has. After the exchange will be in the terminal or the network component the communication parameters (such as IP address, gateway address, net mask) con figured, whereupon the configuration unit with the terminal or the network work component can communicate and the replacement device or the replacement compo nente then checks whether the failed component or device is functional can replace. If this is possible, then the operating parameters of the replacement advises or the replacement component configured what z. B. by sending and loading egg can follow a configuration file within the replaced component. However, the replaced device or the replaced component can do not functionally replace the failed device or the failed component, an error message is generated (e.g. in the configuration unit) to signal sieren that the newly installed device or the corresponding component for the further operation is not suitable.
The following is the method and an exemplary device (network) wrote and explained using the single figure.
In the figure, a network 1 is shown, which has one or more terminals 2 (such as a PC) in any number and at any locations. The term end device also includes input units 3 , output units 4 , sensors 5 and actuators 6 and other comparable means. The number and location of the devices mentioned depends on the topology of the network. Possible fields of application include the control or regulation of process engineering systems or other applications in control and automation technology as well as within office communication. However, this does not limit the field of application of the present invention.
The terminal devices described with the reference numbers 2 to 6 are connected to network components 7 either individually or in groups. Depending on the type and location of the terminal, data is exchanged between the respective terminal and the associated network 7 via a data line 8 , it being possible for identical or different data lines 8 to be used within the network 1 . Reference number 9 denotes the configuration unit 9 connected within the network 1 , via which a configuration of at least one terminal 2 to 6 and / or at least one network component 7 is carried out. In order to be able to specify a target topology of the network 1 , the configuration unit 9 either has storage means (not shown) in which the target topology of the network 1 is stored. If the target topology is to be given from the outside, this can be done via an input unit 10 , which is connected to the configuration unit 9 or is part of the configuration unit 9 . It is also conceivable that the configuration unit 9 has means for detecting the topology of the network 1 , with which the terminals 2 to 6 or the network components 7 can be recognized and localized. Both the target topology and the actual topology can be displayed on an output unit 11 of the configuration unit. For this purpose, the configuration unit 9 has means with which the configuration unit 9 continuously monitors and recognizes the actual topology of the network. If it is determined during this detection or monitoring that a terminal and / or a network component 7 is working incorrectly, has failed or has been removed from the network 1 , a corresponding error message can be generated on the output unit 11 of the configuration 9 . This allows immediate reaction to the type of error represented by the error message, so that downtimes in the system are largely avoided. Thus, this in particular continuous monitoring of the topology of the network can be used for network diagnosis (in particular error detection and localization).
