In der oberen Gehäuseschale ist ein Ladestück befestigbar, welches Aufnahmen aufweist, in welche die Adern des anzuschließenden Kabels eingebracht werden. Die Montage des Oberteils und des Unterteils des Steckverbinders können getrennt durchgeführt werden. Das Kabel mit den Adern wird mittels des Ladestücks in dem Oberteil befestigt. Es müssen dann nur das Oberteil und das Unterteil zusammengefügt werden, was vorzugsweise mittels einer Schnappverbindung geschieht, um die in dem Ladestück angeordneten Adern in die Schneidklemmkontakte zu bringen und an die Verbinderkontakte anzuschließen. Die Adern sind in dem Ladestück in zwei Ebenen angeordnet. Das Ladestück ist daher stufenförmig ausgebildet und die Schneidklemmkontakte sind entsprechend dieser Stufen gegenseitig in Richtung der Längsachse der Adern gegeneinander versetzt.
