The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for automatically storing stackable items to be processed with easy-to-damage surface, such as book blocks, books and brochures, in processing lines. Memory between each two concatenated processing machines cause in case of disturbances that each of these machines can continue to operate independently, as long as the memory is receptive or abgabefähig, so that the total downtime is reduced to a minimum.
Known technical solutions for storing book blocks and similar processing material between processing machines are limited to jams or magazines, which allow a Taktangleich the machines, but not act as a memory for uninfluenced operation of the overall system in short-term failures of each machine due to the small capacity.
In the processing and conveying technology, accumulation conveyors, circular conveyors and buffer conveyors are known, the general cargo such as boxes, cartons u.a. transport and store. The transport of the piece goods takes place via friction of drive means or by gravity. In the majority of applications, the cargo moves up completely and the conveying elements have relative to this relative movement. For products with an easily damaged surface such as book blocks, books and brochures, these funds can not be used. Therefore, in other cases, the goods to be transported are accommodated in frames, containers or other stabilizing devices (e.g., DE-OS 2157269). This requires a conveyor system for returning the empty containers.
For storing devices are also known in which the cargo is jammed on the buffer line without contact to each other by stops, swiveling funds or Aushebevorrichtungen. These devices require large areas and are very complicated by individual control for each product and thus not economically used in the required storage capacity, for example, book block.
Since there are no suitable means for storing book blocks, books, brochures and the like in the prior art, the buffering of chained machines for bridging stoppers in bookbinding processing is currently performed manually by removing or placing products in the conveyor line realized mechanical emergency expenses. A disadvantage is also high labor input (1-3 AK per buffer point), the high load of the worker due to the stressful work rhythm, especially at machine speeds of more than 50 cycles per minute.
The aim of the invention is the replacement of the currently practiced manual buffering in bookbinding processing by an automatically operating memory, with the help of which both short-term and long-term failures of the producing machines can be bridged. The most important effect is to increase the degree of automation by saving labor and eliminating the high workload. Furthermore, the productivity of concatenated processing lines is increased by automatic storage versus manual buffering.
The invention has for its object to develop for flow lines of chained processing machines for processing book blocks, books, brochures and similar products, an automatic fault memory, with the help of both short-term and long-term failure of the producing machinery can be bridged. He must caching the easily injured products without mechanical stress at input speeds of more than 50 cycles per minute and the amount of variable, which must meet the requirements for high capacity recording in a small footprint as well as the low implementation cost, high reliability, low maintenance and user-free function and unproblematic adaptation to technological and spatial conditions.
According to the invention the object is achieved in that the individually conveyed between two machines products in the sequence of process steps - stacking, forming transport units from at least two stacks, automatic and periodic promotion of these transport units from the input location of the store to the issuing office, store until retrieval, Dissolution of the transport units in stacks, dissolution of the stacks into individual products and feeds to the processing machine - in the event of faults being stored on one or the other processing machine.
The arrangement for carrying out the method consists of a transportable in segments conveyor track, which is preceded by a, known in their kind, means for stacking η blocks. The first segment of the conveyor track can be driven step by step and takes over successively m stack with η blocks. After formation of a transport unit of m χ η blocks on the first segment this, according to the occupancy of the following segments, further promoted to the last free memory segment and stored there. At the end of the conveyor track a stepwise promoting segment for the dissolution of the transport unit is arranged in a single stack analogous. According to the productivity of the following machine, the blocks are separated in known devices from the stacks and fed to the further processing.
For trouble-free transport of the blocks through the memory, the funds are accelerated and decelerated shock and jerk-free by applying known technical means. Likewise, adjacent segments of the conveyor track have the same speeds when transferring / receiving stacks.
Discharge and input devices along the conveyor path of the storage allow the output and input of stacks for manual or automatic take-off / loading or for forwarding to other processing lines.
Sensors arranged in the conveyor track register the occupancy of the segments with products and communicate with a control unit which confirms the drives of the segments according to an algorithm. Sensors in the upstream and downstream processing machine signal the circuit for loading and unloading the blocks into / out of the device.
The formation of transport units from m χ η blocks results in a high packing density of the products, which is associated with a space-saving design and minimizes the number of controls in the memory. Avoiding the relative movement between conveyor and book block causes a gentle transport.
The possibility of input and / or output of stacks along the storage section is advantageous when the capacity of the 'storage for on would take is exhausted by block and must be stored in this case, stack prior to further processing or a division of the product stream is required.

The basic structure of the memory according to Fig. 1 shows the stacker 1, to which a conveyor track with a selectable number of segments 2a to 2u is connected. After the last segment 2u, the device 3 for destacking the blocks is located. In the segments 2a to 2u and in the device 3 are the sensors 4a to 4z, which are in communication with the control unit 5. This actuated via the line 10, the not individually shown and known in their kind drives the conveyor segments 2 a to 2 u and the units 1 and 3. The lines 6.1 us 6.2 transmit operating data from not shown sensors of the upstream and downstream processing machine to the control unit 5th
The book block 7 coming from the direction A is stacked in the stacker 1 in accordance with the block thickness and processing characteristics number n to be selected. After formation of a stack, this is transferred to the conveyor segment 2a and registered by the sensor 4a and reported to the control unit 5. Analogously, the other sensors 4 supply signals to the control unit 5, so that the following sequence runs through the control of the segment drives.
Depending on the format length of the blocks 7 in the conveying direction and the length of the segments 2, stacks are gradually taken over by the segment 2a and thus a compact transport unit with η m blocks is formed. This is completely handed over to the following segments of the conveyor track and transported to the last empty segment. The number of segments should be selected according to the required storage capacity.
Blocks are separated by the device 3 according to the productivity of the downstream machine.
The sensor 4z registers the separation of the stacks, so that step by step, individually the m stacks are conveyed from the segment 2 u into the device 3. If all m stacks are transferred from segment 2 u, the replenishment of a closed transport unit takes place from segment 2t to 2 u.
Analogously, all transport units on the conveyor track move by one segment.
To optimize the timing of the delivery of transport units from the first segment 2 a and the supply of the first batch of the following transport unit to segment 2 a, the subdivision of this segment 2 a in at least two separately aborted transport means, such as rollers or belts, appropriate. Thereby, the output of the last stack of the transport unit χ regardless of the supply of the first stack of the transport unit χ + 1 from or to the segment 2a and thus shorten the feed frequency of the segment 2a, so that segment 2a is always receptive, as soon as the Stacking is finished from the individual products.
Analog ist die Einordnung auf weitere Anordnungsvarianten übertragbar.FIG. 2 shows how a parallel arrangement of the conveyor tracks 2 and 2 ', etc. is possible by taking advantage of the modular system of the store through switches 8, and by using corner or. Kurvenförderbausteinen 9 of memory can be adapted to favorable spatial conditions. The structure of the memory allows both the classification in the main flow of the products of FIG. 2 as well as the classification as a secondary memory according to FIG. 3. The example of Figure 3 is also shown how along the conveyor track 2 additional input and input sites 11 and 12 are arranged for stacks. Similarly, the classification is transferable to other arrangement variants.
In addition to the flow accumulators shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, FIG. 4 shows the operation as a return accumulator. The functional sequence in this application occurs with appropriate forward and reverse of the conveyor track otherwise in the above-described flow memory.
