Background
The ossicles of the middle ear are usually susceptible to damage due to disease, trauma or congenital deformity, and consist of three ossicles, also known as the ossicle chain, which in turn are: malleus, incus, stapes, which consists of the stapes arch and the stapes footplate, the latter being in contact with the perilymph fluid of the inner ear, the last structure of the middle ear that transmits vibrations to the inner ear. Sound is transmitted to the inner ear by vibration of the auditory membrane to cause vibration of the ossicular chain, and mechanical waves of the sound waves are converted into electric impulses through the sensible sound of cochlear hair cells to enable the brain to perceive the sound. The activity of the ossicular chain plays a crucial role in the conduction of sound.
The existing stapes prosthesis is mainly composed of a rod part and a hook part, when the stapes prosthesis is implanted, a hole is punched on a residual stapes bone plate, the hook part is hooked on a long anvil stem, and the tail end of the rod part extends into the punched hole.
