Description

Device, system and method for protecting thighs, crotch and ribs of pedestrian
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the technical field of pedestrian protection, and in particular, to a device, system and method for protecting the thighs, the crotch and the ribs of a pedestrian.
Background
With the development of society, automobiles as a means of riding instead of walk began to walk into thousands of households. The safety performance of an automobile as a vehicle is also attracting more and more attention, and the safety of the automobile is not only limited to the safety protection of the passengers in the automobile, but also required to be capable of effectively protecting the safety of the pedestrians once the automobile collides with the pedestrians.
Current pedestrian protection schemes generally fall into the following categories: the pedestrian protection scheme based on the active safety technology can sense and prevent in advance when a sensor detects that collision danger exists, realize long-distance forward accident prevention, assist a driver to apply enough brake, and automatically perform emergency brake if the driver does not take any brake measure, so that collision is avoided or collision speed is reduced; (II) a pedestrian protection scheme based on a driving and passive integration technology, wherein a bounce type hood is adopted, when a vehicle detects personnel outside the vehicle (a pedestrian, a two-wheel vehicle driver or a three-wheel vehicle driver) and inevitably collides with the vehicle, the collision speed reaches a certain requirement, the bounce type hood can be lifted upwards by taking the front of the hood as an axis, the buffer space on the lower side of the hood is enlarged, and collision injury is reduced to the maximum extent when the head and the chest of the personnel outside the vehicle hit the hood; and thirdly, a pedestrian protection scheme based on a passive safety technology adopts a vehicle bumper assembly, the bumper assembly consists of a shell, a buffer material and a cross beam, and the buffer material is arranged between the shell and the cross beam and protects personnel outside the vehicle by buffering low-speed collision (generally not higher than 4km/h) of the vehicle.
Although the pedestrian protection scheme based on the active safety technology can realize long-distance forward accident prevention, the pedestrian protection scheme is relatively difficult to predict the short-distance and sudden invasion of the outside personnel of the vehicle, and can not completely avoid the collision with the outside personnel of the vehicle, and when the collision of the outside personnel of the vehicle and the vehicle can not be avoided, the front bumper of the vehicle plays a very important role in protecting the lower limbs of the outside personnel of the vehicle.
Publication No. CN105270302A discloses a bumper assembly including an airbag, and as shown in FIG. 1, the bumper assembly 10 includes a bumper 14 and an energy-absorbing element 16 adjacent the bumper 14. The airbag module 18 includes a gas generator 22 supported by the bumper 14 and an airbag 20 connected to the gas generator 22. The airbag 20 is disposed between the bumper 14 and the energy-absorbing member 16. As shown in fig. 2, the airbag 20 is in a deflated state during normal operation of the vehicle. As shown by the broken lines in fig. 2, the airbag 20 is inflated to a deployed state during a frontal collision. The airbag 20 deploys during a collision between the vehicle and an object to change the stiffness of the bumper assembly 10 during the collision. If the controller determines that the sensed object is a pedestrian, the collision sensing system determines whether a collision has occurred. If a collision is not imminent, no action is taken by the collision sensing system. If a collision is imminent, the controller commands the controllable output gas generator 22 to inflate the airbag 20 to a predetermined state, such as a pedestrian deployment state. The airbag 20 inflates between the bumper 14 and the energy absorbing member 16, moving the energy absorbing member 16 toward the fascia 38 and away from the bumper 14; alternatively, the airbag 20 can rupture the energy-absorbing element 16 and extend through the energy-absorbing element 16 toward the cover panel 38; the airbag 20 may also extend through the panel 38 during deployment of the airbag 20. In conclusion, the bumper assembly 10 can better protect the leg of the pedestrian, especially the lower leg of the pedestrian, by reducing the rigidity of the bumper assembly 10 when the pedestrian is collided. However, the technical solution of the patent still has the following disadvantages:
1) as shown in fig. 3, when the airbag in the bumper assembly is deployed for pedestrian protection purposes, the force for buffering is mainly the force transmitted from the vicinity of the knees and along the X direction, when the vehicle front bumper receives the vertical force (the force direction is downward along the Z direction) and the oblique force (the force direction is downward along the right direction in figure 3), the force is mainly the contact force transmitted by thighs and the crotch, at the moment, the safety air bag does not have the functions of supporting and buffering any more, the main supporting and buffering function for the vertical force and the oblique force is a front bumper assembly structure, which comprises a plastic part and a metal part, therefore, compared with the longitudinal direction (the force direction is along the X direction), the buffering and energy absorption effects of the safety air bag on vertical and oblique collision forces are relatively low, the protection effect on the thighs, the crotch, the ribs and other parts of people outside the vehicle in pedestrian collision is relatively insufficient;
2) the safety air bag in the bumper assembly is arranged between the energy absorption element and the bumper, and the gas generator is arranged on the inner side or the outer side of the bumper, so that the assembly is complex;
3) the air bag in the bumper assembly can cause deformation or rupture of the energy-absorbing element and the fascia, which can be destructive and costly to maintain.

An embodiment of the present invention provides a device for protecting the thighs, crotch and ribs of a pedestrian, which may be installed above the front bumper grill 40 of a vehicle, in the front edge region of the engine case 41, and inside the front bumper 42, as shown in fig. 4. Assembly is simpler than prior art bumper assemblies that mount the bumper airbag between the energy-absorbing element and the bumper, and the airbag inflator is mounted inside or outside the bumper.
As shown in fig. 5, the apparatus includes a bumper airbag 50, and the shape of the bumper airbag 50 may be designed as needed as long as it is ensured that the bumper airbag 50 can cover the front-bumper grille 40, the region above the front-bumper grille 40, and the front edge region of the engine cover 41 after deployment.
The region above the front bumper grille 40 refers to a region extending from the front bumper grille 40 toward the engine cover 41, for example, a region extending from the front bumper grille 40 toward the engine cover 41 by an equal distance of 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, or 20cm, and the distance that the front bumper grille 40 extends toward the engine cover 41 may be set as necessary. The front edge region of the engine cover 41 is a region extending from the engine cover 41 toward the front bumper 42, for example, a region extending from the engine cover 41 toward the front bumper 42 by an equal distance of 5cm, 10cm, or 15cm, and the distance extending from the engine cover 41 toward the front bumper 42 may be set as necessary.
Further, the apparatus further includes an airbag gas generator 51, and the airbag gas generator 51 is connected to the bumper airbag 50, and is configured to inflate the bumper airbag 50.
In some embodiments, the airbag inflator 51 may be a conventional airbag inflator, such as a pyrotechnic airbag inflator, which has a predetermined output gas rate, volume, etc. and is fixed at a later time.
In other embodiments, the airbag gas generator 51 may also be a controllable output type airbag gas generator, and the airbag gas generator 51 may be controlled to output a corresponding gas volume at a corresponding rate according to collision information (such as speed information and distance information of the person outside the vehicle and age information and stature information of the person outside the vehicle) acquired by the bumper airbag system control unit or other controller, so as to better protect the person outside the vehicle.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the person outside the vehicle may be any suitable person such as a pedestrian, a two-wheel vehicle driver, a three-wheel vehicle driver, a two-wheel vehicle passenger, or a three-wheel vehicle passenger.
Further, the apparatus further includes an airbag case 52, and the airbag case 52 is disposed outside the bumper airbag 50 and the airbag inflator 51.
In some embodiments, the bumper airbag 50 may be folded and placed within the airbag housing 52, and the airbag inflator 51 may be placed at the bottom of the airbag housing 52.
In some embodiments, the airbag housing 52 may be made of plastic, and in other embodiments, the airbag housing 52 may be made of other materials, which are not limited herein.
In some embodiments, the top end of the airbag housing 52 may be connected to the front bumper 42. The air bag housing 52 and the front bumper 42 may be connected by a snap connection, or may be connected by other connection methods, such as a bolt connection, and the like, and are not limited in this respect.
Further, the apparatus further includes a housing case 53, and the housing case 53 is disposed outside the airbag housing 52, and is configured to support and accommodate the airbag housing 52, and to resist an impact force when the bumper airbag 50 is exploded, so as to prevent the bumper airbag 50 from being deployed and rushed out of a portion other than the bumper airbag outlet, and to prevent a large airbag deployment impact force from causing shaking and displacement of the airbag housing 52, which may affect normal deployment of the bumper airbag 50 from the bumper airbag outlet.
In some embodiments, the housing container 53 may be made of a metal material, such as steel, aluminum alloy, and aluminum magnesium alloy, and in other embodiments, the housing container 53 may also be made of other materials, such as carbon fiber, and the like, which is not limited herein.
In some embodiments, the housing receptacle 53 may be coupled to the airbag housing 52. The housing container 53 and the airbag housing 52 may be connected by glue, or may be connected by bolts or rivets, and the connection is not limited in this respect.
Further, the device further comprises a fixing bracket 54, and the fixing bracket 54 is connected with the housing container 53. The fixing bracket 54 and the housing container 53 may be connected by bolts or other connection methods, and are not limited in this respect.
In some embodiments, the fixing bracket 54 may be coupled to a vehicle body for fixing the housing receptacle 53 to the vehicle body. For example, the mounting bracket 54 may be secured to the upper cross member of the front compartment to provide better support and mounting. Of course, the fixing bracket 54 may be mounted at other positions of the vehicle body as required, and is not particularly limited herein.
Further, a sealing strip 55 is arranged at a contact position of the front edge of the engine hood body 41 and the front bumper 42, and the sealing strip 55 can prevent rainwater and the like from flowing into the engine compartment and can prevent the front bumper 42 from being turned backwards except for the tearing block. Wherein the tear block refers to a portion of the front bumper 42 at the outlet of the bumper airbag.
In some embodiments, the tear block is provided with a tear line and a folding line, wherein the tear line may be specifically set as required, and the tear line facilitates the function similar to a bumper airbag outlet when the bumper airbag 50 is exploded, so that the bumper airbag 50 is deployed in a required direction. Referring to fig. 4, a dotted line portion YWXZ in fig. 4 is a tear line, and a solid line portion YZ in the drawing is a folding line, the thickness of the tear line may be 0.3 to 0.6mm, the outer surface of the area where the tear line is located is smooth, and an indentation is formed along the dotted line inside, so that the appearance of the outer surface of the front bumper 42 is ensured, and the function of the front bumper 42 that is torn to deploy the bumper airbag 50 is not affected.
As shown in fig. 4 to 6, when the bumper airbag 50 is deployed by a point explosion, the deployment force tears the tear line YWXZ on the front bumper 42, and the torn portion is folded upward along the fold line YZ, thereby making room for the deployment of the bumper airbag 50. Since the bumper airbag 50 is deployed while mainly damaging the front bumper 42 without significant damage to other components, the post-collision repair cost is relatively low.
As shown in fig. 4 and 7, the deployed bumper airbag 50 according to the embodiment of the present invention has a shape similar to a cylinder, and is vertically capable of covering the front bumper grille 40, the area above the front bumper grille 40, and the front edge area of the engine cover 41, and laterally capable of covering to both sides the daytime running light area, and can contact the thighs, the crotch, the ribs, and the like of pedestrians in a large area, thereby providing a great protection effect to the thighs, the crotch, and the ribs of the vehicle occupant. Also, the bumper airbag 50 is more flexible than the front bumper 42, and provides better cushioning and energy absorption when a vehicle collides with a person outside the vehicle, thereby providing better protection for the thighs, the crotch and the ribs of the person outside the vehicle.
Further, as shown in fig. 5 and 8, after the bumper airbag 50 is deployed, the seal strip 55 at the contact portion of the front edge of the engine cover 41 and the front bumper 42 and the tear block 80 of the front bumper 42 are folded back, and the seal strip 55 and the tear block 80 are folded back and simultaneously receive a forward resistance force, which acts on the deployed bumper airbag 50 through the tear block 80, so that the tendency of the bumper airbag 50 to sway after being deployed and to slide back when colliding with a person outside the vehicle can be reduced, thereby assisting the bumper airbag 50 to perform a better protection function.
In some embodiments, the device may further include a fabric, which may be disposed inside the bumper airbag 50.
In some embodiments, as shown in fig. 9, the bumper airbag 50 may be a single body, the upper end of the fabric 90 is sewn together with both sides of the bumper airbag 50, respectively, by bifurcating, and the lower end of the fabric 90 is connected to the airbag housing 52. In other embodiments, as shown in fig. 10, the bumper airbag 50 may be two pieces, the fabric 90 may not be bifurcated, and the two bumper airbags 50 are respectively sewn together with the fabric 90 by being folded inward to constitute one complete bumper airbag 50.
The fabric 90 serves to fix the deployed bumper airbag 50 and to prevent the bumper airbag 50 from shaking at the beginning of deployment and when it collides with a person outside the vehicle. Also, when the bumper airbag 50 excessively elongates the fabric 90 by slipping backward, the bumper airbag 50 is subjected to a forward resistance force exerted by the fabric 90 since the length of the fabric 90 itself is constant, and the backward slipping of the bumper airbag 50 can be prevented. Further, when the bumper airbag 50 slips rearward, it is hindered by an element below the bumper airbag 50, and the bumper airbag 50 can be further hindered from slipping rearward, thereby assisting the bumper airbag 50 in a better protective effect.
In some embodiments, as shown in fig. 5 and 11, the tearing line on the front bumper 42 may also be located in the middle of the tearing block on the front bumper 42, so that after the tearing block is torn along the tearing line, the tearing block is divided into two pieces, which are respectively folded upwards and downwards to form the first tearing block 110 and the second tearing block 111. First tear piece 110 with second tear piece 111 all has the power of resisting turning over a book to exist, and the direction of two resistance forces all faces the inboard of bumper air bag 50, can transmit after the expansion bumper air bag 50 is last, to after the expansion bumper air bag 50 has played fine fixed action, hinders rocking and sliding of bumper air bag 50 in the beginning and collision after the expansion to better protect vehicle outsiders.
In some embodiments, as shown in fig. 5 and 12, a partition 120 may be further provided inside the airbag housing 52 to separate the bumper airbag 50 from the airbag inflator 51, so that the folded bumper airbag 50 may be supported and the strength of the airbag housing 52 may be increased to prevent the airbag housing 52 from being broken when the bumper airbag 50 is exploded. The number of the partition plates 120 can be adjusted according to actual needs. The strength of the partition 120 can also be adjusted according to actual needs, for example, to reduce weight, such as designing lightening holes.
Embodiments of the present invention also provide a system for protecting the thighs, the crotch and the ribs of a pedestrian, the system comprising a sensor, a controller and the above-mentioned device for protecting the thighs, the crotch and the ribs of a pedestrian. The sensor is used for sensing first collision information and second collision information and sending the first collision information and the second collision information to the controller. The controller is used for judging whether a front collision danger exists or not according to the first collision information; when the front collision danger exists, judging whether the front collision is about to occur or not; when the frontal collision is about to occur, judging whether the frontal collision reaches a preset collision degree; and when the frontal collision reaches a preset collision degree, controlling the air bag gas generator 51 to inflate the bumper air bag 50 according to the second collision information.
In some embodiments, the sensor may be any one or more of a camera (e.g., a monocular camera, etc.), a millimeter wave radar (e.g., a long range millimeter wave radar), an ultrasonic radar, and a laser radar.
In a specific example, the sensor may be a monocular camera and a long-range millimeter wave radar, the maximum detection distance of the long-range millimeter wave radar reaches 180m, the distance measurement accuracy reaches 0.175m, the speed measurement range reaches-80 to 80m/s, the speed measurement accuracy reaches 0.05m/s, the detection distance of the monocular camera to personnel outside the vehicle reaches 80m, and the combined use of the two can detect the personnel outside the vehicle and their distance information and speed information in advance, and transmit the distance information and speed information to the controller (such as an ACU or an ECU).
In some embodiments, the first collision information includes speed information and distance information of a person outside the vehicle, and the second collision information includes age information, height information, and stature information of the person outside the vehicle.
