The monitoring system 100 is used to monitor the condition of an area and trigger an action if certain conditions are met, preferably monitoring the condition of an enclosed area. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the monitoring system 100 may be used to monitor not only enclosed areas, but also non-enclosed areas. In addition, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that "enclosed" herein means completely enclosed, as opposed to open air, and any space within a building may be an enclosed area herein. The closed area may be a crowded place such as an elevator hall, an elevator car, a hotel lobby, a store, and the like, and those skilled in the art can understand that the area is not limited to the above-mentioned place, but may be any area needing monitoring. These areas typically have their managers, which in this context means the owners, service personnel, property personnel, or maintenance personnel of the area, and in times of virus pandemics may also be referred to as epidemic prevention and control personnel.
Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a monitoring system 100 according to the present invention. As shown in fig. 1, the monitoring system 100 may include: a camera 120 configured to capture an image of an area; a visual information recognition unit 130 configured to receive information from the camera 120 and recognize whether a subject located in the area is normative to wear a mask, and form recognition data; and a controller 140, the controller 140 configured to receive the identification data from the visual information identification unit 130. The controller 140 may be configured such that when the identification data indicates that there is a subject in the area that is not wearing a mask normatively, a first action is triggered. The monitoring system 100 according to the invention may further comprise a mode selector 110. The mode selector 110 is configured to select a general mode or a mask mode by a manager. In the normal mode, no additional operation is performed; in the mask mode, the monitoring system 100 is used to monitor the wearing condition of the mask in the area and perform corresponding actions, for example, the controller can trigger the first action only in the mask mode.
