Description

Printing system
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of image formation, and more particularly to a printing system.
Background
In a current image forming apparatus (e.g., a printer), in order to save energy, when the printer is not operated for a predetermined time, the printer shifts to a power saving state in which the power consumption is lower than that in a normal state at the time of operation. In such a printer, after a print job is input, the printer is switched back to a normal state to perform printing.
However, since the printing time of each user is not fixed, the printer may often fail to enter the power saving state, or may enter the power saving state immediately or may receive a print job soon after entering the power saving state. Since the print job is not continuous, the heating process of the fuser (fuser) needs to be repeatedly performed, thereby being disadvantageous in energy saving.
For example, japanese patent laid-open No. 2014-026087 discloses a technique of shortening the waiting time from the start of personal authentication to the start of printing by releasing the energy-saving state in advance, but this invention has a demand for further energy saving.

As shown in fig. 1, the printer 11 may have: a 1 st communication section 111, a printing section 112, and a control section 113, the 1 st communication section 111 operable to transmit the recommended printing time to the PC 12; the printing section 112 can print the print data sent from the PC12 on a medium (e.g., paper); the control section 113 can be used to control printing by the printing section 112.
As shown in fig. 1, the PC12 may have: a 2 nd communication part 121, a display part 122, and an operation part 123, the 2 nd communication part 121 being operable to receive the recommended printing time transmitted by the 1 st communication part 111; the display portion 122 may be used to display the recommended printing time to the user; the operation unit 123 can specify the recommended printing time based on the display of the display unit 122.
In the present embodiment, in the case where there is the recommended printing time designated by the operation portion 123, the control portion 113 may control the printing portion 112 to execute printing of the print data according to the designated recommended printing time.
In the present embodiment, as described above, the printer 11 has the normal mode which is a mode in which printing is started to be executed in a state where a waiting time for warm-up or the like elapses, and the power saving mode which is a mode in which the power consumption of the printer 11 is reduced as compared with the normal mode. The printer 11 may perform a transition from the power saving mode to the normal mode in order to perform printing in the power saving mode, and then start printing.
In the present embodiment, for convenience of explanation, printing according to the recommended printing time of the printer is referred to as delayed printing.
In the present embodiment, the recommended printing time means: the time or the time period stored in the printer 11 in advance specifies the print time recommended by the printer 11 with the operation section 123 in the PC12 in the case where the user of the PC12 does not wish to perform real-time printing.
In the present embodiment, the 1 st communication part 111 and the 2 nd communication part 121 are means for performing communication, and may include devices such as a network port; the operation unit 123 may be, for example, a touch panel mounted on the display unit 122 or other peripheral device for sending data to the PC, and the recommended print time may be specified by the operation unit 123.
In the embodiment, in the printer with the power saving mode, the recommended printing time is designated for printing, so that the printer is prevented from being repeatedly started in the power saving mode, the energy saving effect is improved, and the problems in the prior art are solved.
In one embodiment of the present embodiment, as shown in fig. 1, the printer 11 further includes a display operation section 114 as an operation input section, and a nonvolatile storage section 115 as a storage section. The operation input unit 114 is used to set the recommended printing time, and the storage unit 115 is used to store the recommended printing time set by the operation input unit 114. In this embodiment, the 1 st communication unit 111 transmits the recommended printing time stored in the storage unit 115 to the PC.
In the present embodiment, before printing, a user or a manager can set one or more print times in advance through the display operation portion 114 of the printer 11, and the one or more print times are stored as recommended print times in the nonvolatile storage portion 115. For example, the user can set 10 a.m. according to the degree of urgency of a print job, the schedule of his work, and the like through the operation screen of the display operation portion 114: 00-10: 15. 11: 15-11: 30. 14 in the afternoon: 00-14: 15. 15: 15-15: the print time 30 is the print time of the printer, and the four print times are stored in the nonvolatile storage unit 115 as the recommended print time of the printer 11. When the printer 11 receives the print notification from the PC12, the 1 st communication section 111 of the printer 11 transmits the recommended print time stored in the nonvolatile storage section 115 to the PC12, and the PC12 displays the recommended print time to the user via the display section 122.
Among them, when there are a plurality of recommended printing times in the nonvolatile storage section 115, the 1 st communication section 111 may transmit the recommended printing time closest to the current time to the PC12, and the PC12 displays the recommended printing time closest to the current time to the user through the display section 122, or the 1 st communication section 111 may transmit all of the plurality of recommended printing times to the PC12, and the PC12 displays the plurality of recommended printing times to the user in the form of a list through the display section 122.
Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of a printing system including a plurality of PCs and a printer according to an embodiment of the present invention. In the present embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, there are a plurality of PCs (PC 12)1、PC122、……PC12N) When connected to the printer 11, the printer 11 stores, in the nonvolatile storage unit 115, table 1 created from the identifier (identification information) of each PC, table 1 being as follows:
serial number (definition of printer side) Name of PC Port type of PC Port of PC
1 PC121 USB USB01
2 PC122 Network 192.168.1.10
N PC12N USB USB0N
TABLE 1 identifier Table for PC
For example, PC12 110 in the morning: 20 sends a print notification instruction to the printer 11, and the printer 11 receives the print notification instruction and sends it to the PC121The recommended printing time may be transmitted as the time period (i.e., 11: 15-11:30) closest to the current time (i.e., 10: 20) or as the entire recommended printing schedule (i.e., the recommended printing time including the above-described four time periods), and in the case of transmitting the entire recommended printing schedule, the PC12 may transmit the recommended printing time1To select the time period in which he wishes to print; in addition, PC122And PC12NAlso in the morning of 10: 25 and 11 a.m.: 35 sends a print notification instruction to the printer 11, and, for example, the PC121、PC122And PC12NAll specified at 14 pm: 00-14: 15, printing is performed. Thus, 14 pm is reached: 00, the printer 11 is switched from the power saving mode to the normal mode by warm-up, and in the normal mode, the printer 11 is operated by the PC12 stored in the nonvolatile storage unit 1151、PC122And PC12NThe identification information of (2) respectively notifies each PC of the start of printing according to the order of the reserved delay printing.
In the embodiment, the recommended printing time can be set in advance by the user according to the working habits of the user and the like, so that the energy-saving effect is improved, and the user experience can be enhanced.
In another embodiment of this embodiment, the nonvolatile storage 115 of the printer 11 may be used to store a print history of the printer and a recommended printing time determined based on the print history. In this embodiment, the 1 st communication unit 111 may transmit the recommended printing time determined based on the printing history stored in the storage unit 115 to the PC.
The printing history refers to a record of which time or time period the printer 11 has printed in the past; the control portion 113 stores a time period in which the printing frequency is high in the printing history as a recommended printing time in the nonvolatile storage portion 115, that is, the recommended printing time is included in the time period in which the printing frequency is high in the printing history. When the printer 11 receives the print notification from the PC12, the 1 st communication unit 111 of the printer 11 transmits the recommended print time determined based on the print history stored in the nonvolatile storage unit 115 to the PC 12.
In this embodiment, after receiving the recommended printing time, the PC designates the recommended printing time, and the specific printing process is the same as that in the foregoing embodiment, and will not be described again here.
In the present embodiment, unlike the previous embodiments, the recommended printing time is determined based on the history print record, and thus, since the recommended printing time is determined based on the history print record, the recommended printing time displayed to the user can reflect the actual printing condition of the printer more truly, and thus, printing according to the recommended printing time can be more advantageous for energy saving of the printer.
In the present embodiment, as shown in fig. 1, the printer 11 may further have a time counting section 116, and the time counting section 116 is used to detect time. Note that, when the recommended print time is specified in the PC12, the control unit 113 monitors the timer unit 116 to know whether the recommended print time has arrived.
In one embodiment of the present embodiment, in the power saving mode, the control section 113 causes the printer 11 to shift from the power saving mode to the normal mode when the recommended printing time is reached, based on the time detected by the timer section 116.
For example, the PC12 described above1The user specified 14 pm in the recommended print time: 00-14: 15, based on the time detected by the timer, in 14 pm: 00-14: the printer 11 is switched from the power saving mode to the normal mode for printing for 15 periods, that is, when the recommended printing time is reached.
In another embodiment of the present embodiment, in the power saving mode, the control section 113 causes the printer 11 to shift from the power saving mode to the normal mode based on a predetermined time before the recommended printing time is reached, in accordance with the time detected by the timer section 116.
For example, the PC12 described above1The user specified 14 pm in the recommended print time: 00-14: 15, based on the time detected by the timer, in 14 pm: predetermined times before 00, for example, at 14: 5 minutes before 00, or 3 minutes, the printer 11 is switched from the power saving mode to the normal mode to print, and the predetermined time may be a time preset for the printer. Since the mode needs to be preheated when the power saving mode is switched to the normal mode for starting printing, the mode switching is performed in a predetermined time before the recommended printing time, so that the preheating time can be reduced, the recommended printing time is not occupied for preheating, and the printing efficiency can be better improved.
In the present embodiment, as shown in fig. 1, the PC12 may further have a time counting section 124 and a print storage section 125 as a print data storage section, the time counting section 124 being for detecting time, the print storage section 125 being for holding print data.
In one embodiment of this embodiment, the 2 nd communication unit 121 may transmit the print data stored in the print storage unit 125 to the printer 11 when the recommended print time is reached based on the time detected by the time counting unit 124, so that the print data may be directly transmitted to the printer 11 without waiting for the printer 11 to transmit the print start notification to the PC after the recommended print time is reached, thereby further improving the operating efficiency of the printer 11.
In another embodiment of this embodiment, the non-volatile storage 115 of the printer 11 may be used to store print data. Specifically, when the user of the PC12 sends a print notification command to the printer 11, the 2 nd communication unit 121 of the PC12 directly sends the print data to the 1 st communication unit 111 of the printer 11, and at this time, the non-volatile storage unit 115 of the printer 11 stores the received print data without starting the main printing flow. Then, when the recommended print time is reached based on the time detected by the timer unit 116 of the printer 11, the control unit 113 reads the stored print data from the nonvolatile storage unit 115 to cause the printing unit 112 to print the print data.
In other words, in the present embodiment, the print data can be saved until the recommended print time is reached by providing the print storage section 125 as a print data storage section on the PC12 side, but not limited to this, the nonvolatile storage section 115 on the printer 11 side may function as a print data storage section, the print data is transmitted from the PC12 to the printer 11 through the 2 nd communication section 121, and the print data is stored in the nonvolatile storage section 115 until printing is executed when the specified recommended print time is reached. Thus, in the case where the PC12 side stores print data, the memory amount on the printer side can be reduced; in the case where the printer 11 side stores print data, it is possible to further accelerate the printing efficiency without interacting with the PC side again when the recommended printing time is reached.
In this embodiment, when performing printing, the user can perform not only delayed printing according to the recommended printing time as described above, but also real-time printing according to the need of the user. That is, the recommended printing time is displayed on the display unit 122 of the PC12, and the user of the PC12 can select to perform delay printing using the recommended printing time or to perform real-time printing without using the recommended printing time. Therefore, printing selection can be performed according to the actual requirements of the user, and the user experience is improved.
FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of prompt deferred printing according to an embodiment of the invention. As shown in fig. 3, the recommended printing time 10 is displayed on the display section 122 of the PC 12: 00, and prompts the user to select whether to perform real-time printing through the display unit 122.
In the present embodiment, even if the printer satisfies the transition condition for transitioning from the normal mode to the power saving mode, the control section 113 controls the printer 11 not to transition from the normal mode to the power saving mode if the timing at which the transition condition is satisfied is within a predetermined time before the recommended printing time is reached. Specifically, for example, the user of PC12 is at 11: 00 at printer 11, live printing is selected, that is, printer 11 at 11: 00 is in normal mode, then the printer 11 is not put into a new print job for 10 consecutive minutes in normal mode, i.e. at 11: at time 10, the printer 11 satisfies the transition condition from the normal mode to the power saving mode, but since the recommended printing time is 11: 15, i.e., 11: 10 at 11: 15 (predetermined time), the printer does not transition to the power saving mode because the printer reaches the recommended print time soon. Thus, repeated switching from the normal mode to the power saving mode and from the power saving mode to the normal mode in a short time is avoided. In the embodiment, the predetermined time is not limited to 5 minutes, and may be set in advance as needed.
The setting of the recommended printing time and the printing flow of the printing system 10 of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to fig. 4 to 5 to further clarify the functions of the respective components of the printing system 10.
Fig. 4 is a flowchart of setting a recommended print time according to an embodiment of the present invention. This flow is described in fig. 4 by taking as an example the setting of the recommended printing time in accordance with the printing history of the printer. As shown in fig. 4, the process of setting the recommended printing time may include:
step S401, the printer 11 enters recommended printing time setting;
in step S402, the control section 113 of the printer 11 reads the print history, i.e., the actual print time list, from the nonvolatile storage section 115;
in step S403, the control unit 113 calculates a time or time zone with a high printing frequency from the actual printing time list, for example, 10 a.m.: 00-10: 15. 11: 15-11: 30. 14 in the afternoon: 00-14: 15. 15: 15-15: 30, of a nitrogen-containing gas;
in step S404, the control unit 113 stores the time or time period with the high printing frequency in the nonvolatile storage unit 115 as the recommended printing time.
FIG. 5 is a print flow diagram of an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 5, the printing process may include:
in step S501, the PC12 transmits a print notification to the printer 11 through the 2 nd communication section 121;
step S502, the PC12 receives the inquiry instruction whether to accept the deferred printing sent by the printer 11;
in step S503, the PC12 determines whether the user accepts the delay printing based on the operation of the operation section 123, wherein if the determination result is no, the process proceeds to step S504, and if the determination result is yes, the process proceeds to step S505;
step S504, PC12 sends real-time printing instruction to printer 11, and sends printing data to printer 11 for real-time printing;
in step S505, the PC12 sends a deferred print instruction to the printer 11;
step S506, the PC12 receives the recommended printing time sent by the printer 11 and the inquiry instruction of whether to utilize the recommended printing time;
in step S507, the PC12 judges whether or not to use the recommended printing time according to the operation of the operation section 123, wherein if the judgment result is yes, the process proceeds to step S508, and if the judgment result is no, the process proceeds to step S511;
in step S507, the recommended printing time sent by the printer 11 to the PC12 may be the recommended printing time closest to the current time, or may be a plurality of recommended printing times;
in step S508, the PC12 obtains the recommended print time selected by the user through the operation portion 122;
in step S508, if the printer 11 sends the recommended printing time closest to the current time, the recommended printing time is directly selected, and if the printer 11 sends a plurality of recommended printing times, one of the plurality of recommended printing times can be selected according to actual needs;
in step S509, the PC12 transmits the selected recommended printing time to the printer 11;
step S510, when the recommended printing time is reached based on the time detected by the timer unit 116, the PC12 receives the print prompting command sent from the printer 11, and sends the print data to the printer to print;
the print presenting instruction can be given by various modes such as character display on the display unit 122. Fig. 6 is a schematic diagram of print prompting on the PC side according to the embodiment of the present invention, and as shown in fig. 6, when the recommended print time is reached, the printer 11 sends a print prompting instruction of "you print a file being printed in the XX printer and please take out" to the PC12, so that the user is facilitated to take out the printed file in time, and the user experience can be further enhanced.
Alternatively, in steps S509 and S510, the PC12 may transmit the print data to the printer 11 while transmitting the selected recommended print time to the printer 11, store the print data in the nonvolatile storage section 115 in the printer 11, and when the recommended print time is reached, the printer 11 transmits a print prompting instruction to the PC12 and performs printing according to the print data stored in the nonvolatile storage section 115;
step S511, when it is judged according to the operation of the operation section 123 that printing is not performed with the recommended printing time, the PC12 sets the delay printing time through the operation section 123;
step S512, the PC12 sends the set delay print time to the printer 11;
step S513, based on the time detected by the timer unit 116, when the set delay printing time is reached, the PC12 receives the print prompting command sent by the printer 11, and sends the print data to the printer to perform printing;
alternatively, in steps S512 and S513, the PC12 may transmit the print data to the printer 11 while transmitting the set delay print time to the printer 11, store the print data in the nonvolatile storage section 115 in the printer 11, and when the set delay print time is reached, the printer 11 transmits a print prompting instruction to the PC12 and performs printing according to the print data stored in the nonvolatile storage section 115.
Therefore, the user can select to print according to the recommended printing time, the printer is prevented from being repeatedly started in the power saving mode, and the energy saving effect can be improved.
