In sog.
The invention relates to a vacuum capacitor with an inox bellows and with active cooling and its uses according to claims 1 and 16-23.
Bellows structures are used in variable vacuum capacitors, where they have to fulfill as a mechanical part in addition to the electrical properties of a leak-tightness function. They must be HF-conducting, i. have a good high-frequency conductivity and a mechanical continuous load sufficient, which determines the long-term properties of a vacuum condenser.
According to the patent document WO 01/67 472 a vacuum capacitor is known in which the bellows has a uniform electrical conductive layer, which is provided to increase the heat dissipation by radiation with an additional dark layer. The disadvantage here is that the heat dissipation at high load is still often insufficient.
Furthermore, it should be observed that under operating conditions with very high currents often flashovers occur between the folds of the bellows.
The object of the invention is to provide a vacuum capacitor which avoids the disadvantages mentioned with active cooling and identify appropriate uses.
According to the invention this object is achieved with a vacuum capacitor with an inox bellows according to claim 1 and by the same uses according to claims 16-23.
The invention will be described below with reference to figures. Show it:

<Tb> FIG. 3 <sep> Schematic diagram of a vacuum condenser with an Inox bellows and with active cooling and additional secondary cooling in section
Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a vacuum condenser with an Inox bellows and with active cooling in section.
A fixed electrode block 1 is mechanically and electrically connected to a lower part 2 of a housing, which simultaneously represents an external electrical connection of the vacuum capacitor. About an annular insulator 3, the lower part 2 of the housing with the upper part 4 of the housing is sealed. Via a rod 5, which is attached at its lower end with a variable electrode block 6, this is immersed from the outside more or less deeply into the fixed electrode block 1, whereby the desired capacity can be adjusted. To improve the electrical properties is located in the inner space 7, a vacuum, the pressure of the ambient 8 by a bellows 9, respectively. Bellow is separated.
The bellows is gas-tightly connected at one end 10 to the upper part 4 of the housing and at the other end 10 to the variable electrode block 6. The bellows ensures a high vertical mobility of the rod 5 and the variable electrode block 6 and at the same time is designed to withstand the pressure difference between the inner space 7 and the ambient pressure 8. At the same time, the bellows 9 also has a high electrical conductivity for HF currents, through which the variable electrode block 6 is connected to a second electrical connection.
The upper part 4 of the housing has centrally about the rod 5 a bore 1, which is dimensioned so that a coolant can circulate practically without resistance through the bore.
On the upper part 4 of the housing is a cylindrical cap 12, which is arranged centrally around the rod 5 and seals against this. In the cylindrical side walls of the cap 12 at least two openings 13, 13 are provided, which are provided for the supply or the discharge of a coolant 14. There are also several openings 13, 13 conceivable both for the supply and for the discharge of the coolant. A cooling circuit 15, of which only a part is represented by arrows, forms with the coolant 14 an active cooling 16 of the vacuum condenser. The coolant takes over the heat generated in the bellows 9 and discharges it via the cooling circuit 15 or via the opening 13 serving as an outlet.
As a coolant 14 are usually all thermally conductive media in question, they are gaseous or liquid.
The coolant consists of water, demineralized water, an oil or a lubricant, air or a gas. Multiphase systems with thermally conductive mixed media are also suitable as gaseous, liquid or viscous coolants. A mixture of gases, air, SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride), CFC (fluorochloro-hydrocarbon) is advantageous. In many cases, when choosing the components, a compromise has to be made between the thermal conductivity and the lubricating or sliding properties.
Fig. 2 shows a schematic representation of a bellows in section. A bellows structure 21 made of a carrier material 22 has a conventional rib structure with outer and inner folds 23 and 23 and cylindrically shaped connection parts 24 and 24. On the bellows structure are electrically conductive layers 25 and 26, which are provided for the adhesion or electrical properties ,
Suitable substrates are tubes made of stainless steel or of Ni alloys with at least 65% nickel. The layer 25 has, for example, in addition to the conductive an adhesion-promoting property for the layer 26. The layer 25 consists for example of nickel, gold or their alloys at a typical thickness of 0.2-5 [micro] m.
The electrical conductive layer 26 consists for example of copper, silver, gold, palladium or their alloys, wherein the thickness of 1-50 [micro] m is preferably 25 [micro] m. The layer 25 may also be missing, so that only the layer 26 rests on the carrier material. The number of electrically conductive layers is by no means limited to two. Thus, e.g. a further layer can be applied, which has a special corrosion resistance, as may be the case with a thin gold layer of 0.2-0.9 [micro] m. An essential feature of the layer 26 is its layer thickness, which may be uniform, but also uneven.
On the layer 26 is another layer 27, which is produced, for example, by a black chrome plating or a copper oxide, which improves the thermal emission behavior of the surface and makes the entire or partial outer surface of the bellows structure appear as a black body. It has been shown that thereby the heat dissipation is significantly promoted by radiation, which has lower operating temperatures of the bellows result and has a very beneficial effect on the current carrying capacity and on the life.
By forming the layer 27 with a rough surface of this beneficial effect is enhanced, which can be achieved for example by sandblasting, brushing or by chemical processes. The layer 27 covers the rib structure or parts, but not necessarily the regions of the connection parts 24, 24.
Surprisingly, the use of the described bellows structure is also to reduce the voltage flashovers between the folds of the bellows significantly and to ensure in this way a longer life of the vacuum capacitor.
Fig. 3 shows a schematic representation of a vacuum condenser with an Inox bellows and with active cooling and additional secondary cooling in section. Except for the newly formed cap 12, the illustrated vacuum capacitor essentially corresponds to that of FIG. 1. The at least two openings 13, 13 in the cylindrical side walls of the cap 12 and the cap 12 mounted on the upper part 4 of the housing can be seen. Within the cap 12 is a separating sleeve 31, which is arranged centrally around the rod 5. The separating sleeve 31 connects on the one hand sealing with a lower end 32 of the upper part 4 of the housing. On the other hand, it also sealingly connects with an upper end 33, the cap 12 on its inner side 34. The separating sleeve 31 may be made of metal or plastic.
Preferably, the separating sleeve 31 is formed as a rubber bellows. This creates a closed inner cooling circuit 15, which is formed by the volume 35, 37 of the bellows and the separating sleeve and the volume of the bore 11. Of course, this volume is reduced by the volume of the rod 5, in the cooling circuit 15 is a first coolant 38, as already described in Fig. 1. Depending on the choice of the coolant 38, the cooling takes place via a convection or via a circulation, which is indicated by the arrows 39, 39. Advantageously, the possibility of being able to use extremely expensive coolant, since the volume of the inner cooling circuit 15 is generally small compared to a second outer circuit 15th
The outer circuit 15, of which only a part is represented by arrows, is formed by the inner volume 40 of the cap 12, which is now delimited by the volume of the separating sleeve 31.
The heat generated at the bellows 9 is absorbed by the coolant 15 in the inner cooling circuit and is transmitted via the separating sleeve 31 to the coolant 15 of the outer cooling circuit. The two coolants 15, 15 with the associated cooling circuits form an active cooling of the vacuum condenser.
The embodiments described below give an insight into the variety of possibilities in non-conclusive manner.
First embodiment: The structure of the vacuum capacitor substantially corresponds to FIG. 1. The capacity is adjustable with the rod 5 from 40 to 1300 pF. The working voltage is 30 kV. The maximum achievable current at an AC frequency of 13.56 MHz is 796 A. The inox bellows 9 is cooled with water as the coolant 15. The water is passed through the feeders or the drains in the cap in the vacuum condenser. The flow rate of the water is 25 l / min with a maximum inlet temperature at the opening 13 of 70 ° C. The outlet temperature of the water at the opening 13 is approximately 72 ° C. The cooling circuit 15 forms with the water an active cooling 16 of the vacuum condenser. The lower part 2 of the housing is cooled with a cooling capacity of 50 W.
Second embodiment: The construction of the vacuum capacitor substantially corresponds to FIG. 1. The capacity is adjustable with the rod 5 from 40 to 1000 pF. The working voltage is 30 kV. The maximum achievable current at an AC frequency of 13.56 MHz is 221 A. The inox bellows 9 is cooled with air as the coolant 15. The air is passed through the feeds or the discharges in the cap in the vacuum condenser. The flow rate of the air is 200 l / min. The cooling circuit 15 forms with the water an active cooling 16 of the vacuum condenser.
The considerable advantages of the vacuum capacitor according to the invention with an inox bellows and with active cooling are the following:
- The thermal load of the bellows is reduced, resulting in a higher current resistance.
- The longer life.
- The higher mechanical stability of the bellows, especially with regard to the pressure of the coolant used.
- Prevention of flashovers between the folds of the Federbalges. An internal and external cooling circuit allow the use of a normal industrial water connection.
Uses for such vacuum capacitors can be found in RF transmitters, especially in shortwave transmitters in frequency ranges from 1 MHz to 200 MHz with a power of 1 kW to 1 MW.
In so-called "Antenna Tuning Units" such vacuum capacitors are also used, in the ranges of 1 MHz to 5 MHz with a power of 1 kW to 10 kW and in the range of 60 MHz to 200 MHz with a power of 100 kW up to 1 MW.
In high frequency matching networks, they are used in the range of 60 MHz to 200 MHz with a power of 1 kW to 10 kW.
In shortwave transmitters, they are used in the range of 3 MHz to 30 MHz with a power of 50 kW to 500 kW and in transmitters in the range of 1 MHz to 5 MHz and a power of 500 kW to 1 MW.
