Currently, the dissemination of information, whether documentary, informative, advertising or other, is practically always one-way, from the distributor of information to the user thereof. Given the constantly growing number of ads available, the consumer is constantly overwhelmed with information that does not concern him in most cases. This makes it more and more difficult to remain receptive to news. It follows a weariness of the consumer, and the editor of the information must resort to original means always more expensive to attract the attention of the interlocutor.

To react against this saturation which is invading the potential consumer, the present process provides new solutions:

- which streamline the distribution of information by allowing the choice and selection of announcements;

- which increase the impact of the announcements by mainly reaching the target of the persons concerned;

- which reduce advertising costs, reducing printing and shipping costs, while keeping the potential consumer alert.

The present method of selective dissemination of information to a population of users comprises the characteristics listed in

claim 1. The means for implementing this process are defined in claim 5.

The single figure of the appended drawing schematically illustrates an exemplary embodiment of a portable receiver.

The alphabetical directory, which allows the receiver to be programmed, has four complementary parts, which are in turn divided into separate areas and areas of interest.

The first part defines six distinct areas, each corresponding to areas of interest, such as:

- informative announcements;

- commercial announcements;

- personal announcements;

- professional announcements;

- tourist and gastronomic announcements;

- recreational and leisure advertisements.

A second part allows a more precise definition of the object sought. Like the nomenclature of the Federal Statistical Office, it is subdivided into classes, groups and genres. The user can thus specify at will and separately the characteristics of each object sought, so that, for example, to search for economic announcements on the sugar market, the user will define the object sought as follows:

1) code of the domain corresponding to professional announcements (see first part);

2) division code corresponding to industrial announcements;

3) class code corresponding to the sugar industry;

4) code of groups and genera corresponding (if necessary) to fruit, beet sugar, lumps, etc.

A third part allows to attribute three notions of value, material, immaterial or particular, of the object sought. The constitution of these values is defined from a referential and original table.

A fourth part introduces the notion of localization of the object concerned. The subdivisions include sectors which define the regions and can correspond, for example, to the prefixes of telephone numbers or to postal routing numbers according to the legislation of the country concerned.

The alphabetical directory, the vertical division of which we have just defined in four parts comprising sectors, is divided horizontally into three essential headings which define the interest of the applicant:

- the heading of objects: equipment, devices, goals, domains, objects, services, works, etc .;

- the heading of qualifications and values, such as "beautiful", "large", "small", "magnificent", "interesting" financial values, qualifying and quantitative concepts, and particulars;

- the localization section, which uses postal numbers, telephone prefixes, road numbering, etc., to define the region concerned or the country internationally.

Next to each part, sector and object, element of value and location corresponds a figure which it suffices to add to the additional figure, as is usually done for dialing a telephone number on the international network. This very easy and usual method ensures more or less punctual programming of the receiver, depending on the degree of precision sought by the user.

Thanks to this classification, which is the subject of the directory given to the user with each portable programmable receiver, the user can very easily determine the code covered by the type of announcements sought and program his receiver.

If, for example in Switzerland, the user is looking for a 4-room chalet for rent in Davos for the sum of Fr. 1000.-, the user composes his code by opening the directory in the tourist and gastronomic announcements section, and search in alphabetical order for the term "chalet for rent". He notes the corresponding numeric code. Then he takes the numeric code corresponding to the sum of Fr. 1000.- and adds this figure to the code previously noted for the chalet. The author will only have to note the Davos postal number and will therefore add 7260 to the two parts of the code noted above. In a country other than Switzerland, the location code is adapted to the existing local codes, provided by the competent authority.

The group of four basic parts, their headings and their subdivisions constitutes the twelve-digit code number which it suffices to enter into the receiver via its numeric keypad. The receiver will then keep this code number in memory until voluntary erasure by the user. As soon as an announcement including an analog code is broadcast, the receiver will retain the text and display it, indicating by means of an audible and light signal that it has received an announcement.

The specific application of the means of communication which justify the present process offers an infinite variety of applications. The area of "voluntary communication" advocated here is divided into two groups:

- The active application mode is practiced unilaterally from a local broadcaster whose action is limited by the power of the transmitter allocated by the PTT. If it is a local radio station, within the meaning of the specific legislation of each country, the services obtained can be identified by analogy to those provided by the publication of a magazine, guide or a teletext. Note that these are always informative or advertising announcements, texts and editorial publications, works or parts of works, all information and announcements responding to the services requested by customers.

In the event that the legislation of a country does not grant any concession for the use of a broadcaster such as a local radio, an alternative solution will be found in the use of another type of approved transmitter, operating specifically in power and frequency according to the official standards in force on site.

If, for example, such a business wants to announce a commercial action, a novelty or a price reduction, if a certain hotel wants to signal to tourists that it still has rooms available, a low power auxiliary transmitter is sufficient to fulfill the incentive service requested . In this case, we will obtain a one-off extension of the commercial sign in its impact, by providing the services of an economic and tourist guide operating in frequency and power according to the PTT standards applicable on site.

- The interactive application mode is practiced bilaterally from a low-power point transmitter / receiver, whose action is limited by the power of the transmitters within the meaning of PTT standards. This reserve is appropriate in cases where the operation of said method does not apply over distances greater than a few tens of meters, or even a few meters. In addition, it saves radio frequencies which are becoming increasingly rare. In these cases, the operation is done in interactive mode, that is to say bilaterally in most cases, and the radio receiver TDA 7020 T cited below by way of example can be replaced by a transmitter / receiver. radio, or electromagnetic, or infrared, or ultrasonic. It is difficult to cite other types of transmitter / receiver equipment in this patent, since only the PTT legislation relating to each country or each region imperatively prescribes technical standards, therefore the corresponding electronic components.

The availability of basic equipment also allows complementary applications. These include, for example, access controls, memory media devices, personal encoders operating remotely over a few meters. The use of existing basic equipment, its microprocessor, its keyboard, its display and its directly available memories allow a significant and non-negligible saving of the material necessary to fill these complementary applications.

An exemplary embodiment of this portable receiver is given in the single figure; it includes a keyboard 1 allowing its programming, a liquid crystal display 2 allowing the viewing of the selected announcements, constituted for example by a circuit 40457 of Optrex. The keyboard is connected to a control unit 3 (Z 80-P10 CMOS LH 5081 ALM from Sharp), to bus 4 and to display 2.

This receiver also includes a central unit 5 (Z 80 CPU CMOS LH 5080 ALM from Sharp) and a timer 6 (Z 80 CTC CMOS LH 5082 ALM from Sharp) connected to bus 4, as well as a read-only memory 7 RAM (5165 Mitsubishi FP). A decoder 9 (Sharp LR 74 HC 138), also connected to bus 4, acts on the RAM and EPROM memories.

The reception of radio signals is ensured by an HF receiver 10 (TDA 7020 T from Philips), a logic circuit 11 (LR 74 HC from Sharp) and a control circuit 12 (Z 80 PIO CMOS LH 5081 ALM from Sharp) connected to the bus 4.

This portable receiver also includes an internal clock 13 comprising a CMOS FOY oscillator and a power supply 14 formed by a battery 15, a transformer 16, solar elements 17, mounted together or separately.

For the transmission and dissemination of information or announcements, the well-known RDS system (Standardized Broadcasting System EBU 3244) is used, for example, which allows the data used to tune to be heard without the knowledge of the listener. the receiver and to identify the monophonic and stereophonic sound broadcasting program in frequency modulation in the 87.5 to 108 MHz VHF range. The specification, which is in accordance with CCIR Recommendation 450-1, applies in stereophony to the pilot frequency system. It is also perfectly compatible with the ARI system for identifying FM transmitters for car radios. The EBU Technical Commission adopted the latter system in 1984. The described system, however, offers wider possibilities, including those of ARI.

It can therefore be seen that the method described offers users of the receiver the possibility of accessing in active mode the services of a media space comprising one or more central units for broadcasting local announcements by radio, or the possibility of operating their receiver in interactive mode, in order to find for themselves and directly the potential partner whom they certainly meet every day.

The composition of the code to be introduced into the receiver is done using a universal lexicon or directory. It is practiced identically to the composition of telephone numbers of the international network. The universal lexicon in question includes all the data in alphabetical order and by headings, arranged between them so as to be very accessible. In addition, it can be emphasized here that the numbers that make up the codes are exactly the same in all languages, with the obvious aim of being able to use the same receiver in all countries and to generalize their use.

In its variants, the receiver may include a different display, for example formed from a cathode ray tube, or any other existing display. The receiver can also be equipped to receive messages transmitted by any other means than radio waves, and with frequencies other than UKW used by local radios. The receiver can include an interchangeable working memory which makes it possible to control access to the announcements in the form of a periodic decoder.

The receiver can be connected to a printer which can automatically transcribe the announcements on paper to avoid memory overflow and loss of information.

Means for implementing the method according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that it comprises a transmitter and a converter making it possible to broadcast information accompanied by an identification code associated with them ; a set of portable and programmable receivers making it possible to select said information corresponding to one or more preset codes and to display this information; as well as an alphabetical directory comprising a list of objects, sectors, qualifiers, values, sizes, special qualities and geographic locations consistent with a numeric and alphanumeric list allowing the development of identification codes. 6. Means according to claim 5, characterized in that the portable receivers comprise an interchangeable working memory part, thus constituting an access control to the announcements. 7. Means according to claim 5 or 6, characterized in that each receiver is temporarily tunable to a printer, which automatically transcribes the announcements on paper, in order to avoid "overflow" of the memory.
