Fig. 2 die Gesamtschaltung der nachstehend beschriebenen Reinstimmungsvorrichtung.
Eine Reinstimmung fällt also dahin.

In the Renaissance, attempts were made to upgrade the third as a consonant interval, with the introduction of the mid-tone temperature. The greatly reduced fifth has been accepted in favor of a pure major third with an integer vibration ratio of 5: 4.
In the 18th century, the equilibrium temperature was introduced: a division of the octave into 12 mathematically equal intervals. c: cis = 1 12X2. The fifth was reduced by 1/12 of the Pythagorean comma. (A difference to the perfect fifth can practically not be determined by the listener.) The deviation from the tempered to the perfect third, on the other hand, is quite considerable. This was gladly accepted, however, because the mathematical division made every key equivalent and thus nothing stood in the way of any transposing and modulating from now on. J.S. Bach has sufficiently proven this with his Well-Tempered Clavier.
However, unsatisfied by the equally floating temperature, various scientists and musicians have tried to bring about a significant improvement in the tone system with the help of a 19, 31, 45 and even a 70 division of the octave. The reason for all attempts was again mainly the too large deviation of the equilateral to the pure third. None of the experiments just mentioned led to any real success, as they could practically not be transferred to our 12-part division, because all music in the western world is based on the same half-tone and whole-tone division in antiquity as in the present.
A patent from 1957 (DBP 1 002 601) shows that a pure scale can be obtained by electrical means from an octave subdivided into 36 pitches, which at least requires that 3 different vibration organs are provided for each keyboard key to select this row Need to become.
A Swiss patent from 1969 (No. 466 684) describes a perfectly tuned keyboard instrument with electrical / mechanical sound generation. A 12-key pedal allows the instrument to be switched to any tuned key while making music.
The present invention is based on the object of creating an electrical pure tuning device with which the thirds and octaves of a musical instrument remain pure without additional keys and without preselection, but the fifths, fourths and tritones remain at the same temperature. The electrical tuning device according to the present invention relates to a device in which each key is assigned a device with which a signal can be sent to a control device.
It differs from known devices in that the control device has memory and switching elements in a switching arrangement, which automatically influence the vibration relationships of the tones generated by deepening the tone generation in such a way that the chords in the thirds and octaves are pure, the fifths, Fourths and the tritone, however, remain equally tempered.
In contrast to the known devices, a perfect fifth tuning is dispensed with according to the present invention, since the difference between the equally floating fifth and the perfect fifth is quite small. It is not considered as a disruptive factor. The basic temperature is therefore equal and the instrument only has 12 different vibration organs per octave. In contrast, the musical instrument is designed in such a way that each tone, i.e. H. Each tone frequency can be changed individually in such a way that an absolutely pure major third or an approximately pure minor third arises through the deepening of a tone in conjunction with a second corresponding but not deepened tone. Within a C major scale, the simultaneous deepening of the 3 major third-forming tones E, A, B gives us an almost pure diatonic tone system.
The following table illustrates the deviations of the various systems from our common equilibrium temperature. The comparison values are expressed in cents for the sake of simplicity. (Octave = 1200 cents, semitone 100 cents).

Show it:
1 shows an integrated circuit which is used as a decision stage six times in the overall circuit of the control device and
Fig. 2 shows the overall circuit of the tuning device described below.
In its basic circuit, the control unit is made up exclusively of logical systems, i.e. gate circuits of the most varied of types, the main use of NAND gates. The Reinstimmungsvorrich device according to the present invention therefore only has a decision-making and control function and is therefore only used as a control unit and connected to a keyboard instrument provided for this purpose. It has 12 inputs corresponding to the chromatic keyboard. The control signals required for these inputs are triggered by contacts on the individual game buttons. Their duration is the same as that of the note played. All piano keys of the same name, e.g. For example: C, c, c ', c ", etc. result in one and the same signal.
On the basis of the incoming signals, the device decides on a possible change of the relevant audio frequencies and then in turn issues switching commands to the frequency change devices of the vibration organs. Of course, all tones of the same name are changed at the same time, i.e. H. so all octaves.
Another special feature is that with the deepening of a tone, in addition to the octaves, all the associated tritone intervals also deepen, i.e. H. with the deepening of the notes E, all the notes B are also deepened at the same time. This always happens simultaneously and in every case.
By dividing the octave into two 6 tones; or in other words by the direct coupling of the 1st u.
7., 2. u. 8., 3. u. 9. etc. Tones, the switching of the frequency changing devices does not result in a row that is repeated in the octave but in the semi-octave, i.e. not 12 but only 6 control current outputs (yellow, f / h, fislc, g / cis, gisld, ales).
The circuit is designed in such a way that not only all thirds are automatically corrected, but also all other notes played at the same time, which are in a fifth or fourth ratio to the respective tone being corrected, change in the same way, provided that this does not result in other tension ratios or new intonation intonation differences arise.
If this results in fifth, fourth or even tritone ratios between the unchanged and the corrected tones, a third correction is impossible and the starting temperature (equal temperature) is retained. In this way it is achieved that all fifths, fourths and tritones always remain at the same temperature as one another.
With the simultaneous playing of the notes: A C E H not only the third, i.e. H. the tone E is brought into an integer vibration ratio to C, but A and B are deepened at the same time, so that the fifth ratios are equally suspended. When playing the notes: C E H F sharp at the same time, on the other hand, a correction of a third is excluded, because if E is deepened, the notes B and F sharp must also be deepened, F sharp is in a tritone relationship with the starting note C. - A third correction is also impossible when the notes are struck simultaneously: C E G sharp, since C-E, E-G sharp, A-flat (G sharp> C each represent a major third and therefore all three are to be treated equally. The root of the major third is not changed.
Since you can only get a pure third with the device by deepening a tone, the higher tone is deepened in the major third and the lower tone in the minor third, i.e. H. the major third is reduced and the minor third increased.
When simultaneously striking a major and a minor third from the same note and in the same direction (e.g. upwards), the major third always decides for a pure tuning. As an example: C E and C Es, in the first case E would have to be deepened, in the second case the tone C. The tone C cannot be left in its original position and deepened at the same time. Since the major third has priority, E is deepened and C is left in the starting position.
As already mentioned above, when a major third is struck, the fifths and fourths also change automatically. When striking a minor third, however, z. B. in E-G only the third itself is corrected, i.e. E deepened. The note A would prevent a correction despite the existing fifth ratio to E. The minor third is therefore to be regarded as secondary.
The following list shows the circumstances under which a third octave correction is possible. For the examples, a certain tone was selected, namely the tone E (as a major third with C and as a minor third with G).
1. G sharp in any case prevents the major third CE from being tuned, since E G sharp and A flat (G sharp S C are also major thirds and all three must be treated equally. Correction of the minor third E - G is also omitted because the Note E itself, even if it is deepened, cannot also bring about a deepening of G sharp as a major third.
2. C sharp prevents a correction of the minor third E - G if the key C is missing as a major third forming element.
The C-E third, however, can only be tuned in only if A is not added to C sharp at the same time, because A would have to cause a correction of C sharp, but should be deepened as a fifth to E. A purity therefore falls away.
3. Eb (Dis) can prevent E from being retuned if either B is added to the two tones C and E or E only functions as a minor third to G. In the first case, H would have to bring about a deepening of D (major third) but should at the same time be deepened as a fifth to E itself. In the second case, the note G would have to be out of tune as a major third to E flat, but is in a fifth ratio to C.
4. F prevents a pure third pitch if B or B are played with C and E at the same time. B and B should be deepened (fifth and tritone to E), but they also form a tritone and fifth ratio with F and a fourth together with C. Equal beat could not be maintained.
5. F sharp makes a correction of E impossible as soon as the note B plays along. B - F sharp results in a fifth, F sharp - C a tritone interval, so there are similar relationships as in point 4. F sharp in connection with D also excludes a pure tuning, because namely F sharp as a third to D itself would have to be deepened, but at the same time in one Tritone relation to C.
6. The note D is also deepened in connection with E and A as a fifth itself, provided that G also as a fifth, namely to D and C, or the tone B as a third to D does not play along and cancels the third correction. On the other hand, D in conjunction with C - E and B can prevent a detuning if no additional tone change is required from another side, namely by the two tones C sharp and G, which both have a minor third ratio to E and B. In this case, E would be understood firstly as the major third of C and secondly as the minor third of G, and the automatically lowered tritone B as the minor third of C sharp.
7. A is deepened at the same time as E, as long as C is also determined as the major third. On the other hand, the same note A can prevent a correction for the minor third E-G alone.
Table 11 summarizes the possible corrections for the tones E resp. B. On the left are the tone combinations that lead to a deepening, on the right are those individual tones that prevent deepening.

The structure of the electrical circuit is described below:
Fig. 1 means the actual core of the control unit and is to be seen as a decision stage, which is about whether and when due to the received Si renale the two associated tones, in the present example: E u. Bb (as tritone) out of tune together, 1st h. should be deepened.
The numbers at the inputs -12 correspond to the 12 different-named chromatic tones of the special keyboard: 1 = c, 2 = c sharp, 3 = d etc.
ru note that in the idle state for this subcircuit n, the voltage log 0 is applied to all inputs. The two outputs also have log 0 in the idle state.
The output II only has to deepen the tones e / b, while the output I also transmits control currents to the neighboring tone pairs s / a and hif, which are in the fifth ratio to eib. Fig. 2 provides information about the mutual connection of the outputs I and II of the 6 distribution stages T1-T6, which are absolutely lentic in their circuit structure and only differ in the distribution and assignment of the input control streams 1 going out from the Nand gates c) -12 differ, as can also be seen in FIG.
The output control currents I and II of the six separation stages are each brought together via an inverter d) to the 6 Nand; ates e), processed there, and from there switching currents via possible relays or amplifiers to the corresponding tone changing devices.
A special electronic circuit makes it possible to save the signals emanating from the game keyboard and then to use them in such a way that three very specific and stored signals selected according to a function plan (Table III) at the same time on a NAND gate b) produce a a permanent storage current is triggered there until one of the three storage units involved a) receives another signal to the contrary and is thereby reset. The storage current emanating from b) acts on the NAND gate c), which in turn also receives direct signals from the key contacts of the game keyboard.
) a the inputs at the gate c) both are in the idle state log 1, they are also able to trigger a reaction independently of one another in the form of a storage current or a direct control signal 5 at the output, and so permanently or briefly (according to the length of a note played) to influence the decision stages Tl-T6. The latter can therefore receive a permanent control current under the given circumstances without even having to play a piano key. As an example, all inputs 1 of the six decision stages receive a control current without the piano key C being played.
This means for the note E, specifically for any E of the instrument, that the note itself is not only played, i.e. made to sound, by simply hitting the key associated with the note, but is also deepened, i.e. H. the tone E is tuned into a mute but frequency-fixed C. All inputs of the entire circuit Fig. 2 have log 1 in the idle state. If a log 0 is applied to input Y, the automatic memory system is put out of operation, since at this moment all NAND gates b) continuously output a log 1 and thus only the direct contacts of the keyboard, which in the idle state also have a log 1 in gate c) can trigger a reaction. A correction of the tone E is only possible if at least 2 tones are played at the same time, i.e. the keys C and E or G and E are pressed down together.
The memory circuit brings about an almost pure tuning even in a unison game, provided it moves in the tonal space. There are always 2 tones in the fifth ratio are automatically saved. Table III shows that to store C and G, the notes e, f, d, h, c, a have to be played once. This can be done by playing the entire C major scale once, i.e. silently, with the vibration generators switched off. The scale then remains constant for the course of the C major piece of music:
CD E * FGA * H * C because all major and minor thirds are deepened for the two stored notes C and G, i.e. are brought into an absolutely pure third ratio to the two tones. From Table III it can also be seen that in a modula tion z.
B. from C to G major by the appearance of the first foreign tone F sharp the memory tone C is deleted and D is added as a new memory tone. The new row looks like this:
GAH * CDE * Fis * G
In this way you can automatically and very quickly adjust the musical temperature to any key.

In Table III, the memories for 12 tones are recorded horizontally; the signals emitted by the keys are recorded vertically. The individual memories are indicated by the symbol 8. In order to maintain a continuous storage current, all three signal inputs, one on top of the other and marked with a black dot, are required. Signal inputs to the bright points delete the relevant memory tone.
The deepening of the tones caused by the control unit is caused on the musical instrument, depending on the type of tone generation, by changing the string tension in string instruments or by changing the wavelength of the fundamental oscillation in pipe instruments. In the case of electronically generated tones, the deepening takes place by changing the electrical data e.g. B. the RC elements of the oscillating circuits.
The invention can also be used by analogy with pneumatic control devices. The arrangement of pneumatic accumulators and pneumatic switching elements can also follow the rules given in Table III.
The advantage over the already known systems is that only one vibration organ is required for each key, the frequency of which can, however, be changed while playing, so that in the case of an enharmonic reinterpretation it is not necessary to switch to another vibration organ (e.g. cis-des) and thus the transient noises, which are unavoidable when changing from one to the other tone generator, are completely eliminated. A correspondingly slowed down, even frequency change also allows a third-octave correction to be made absolutely unobtrusively and yet quickly enough.
