Fig. 1 das Blockschaltbild eines beschriebenen Ausführungsbeispiels, und
R2 = 39 kOhm Rs = 22 kOhm
R4 = 470 Ohm
Rs = 1kOhm
C = 125,eeF
The main patent 546 888 relates to a system for starting and stopping an internal combustion engine, in particular in motor vehicles and motorcycles, in which means are provided in order to start the engine by actuating a control switch.
It has been shown that this system can still be improved. The present invention relates to a system for starting and stopping an internal combustion engine, in particular in motor vehicles and motorcycles, which is characterized in that the control switch and the means are designed in such a way that when the control switch is actuated, the start-up is dependent on at least one confirming that the engine is running Signal of at least one switching element is automatically processed and that a stop switch is provided, upon actuation of which the engine is switched off and the system is kept ready for commissioning.
With this measure, the system can be further simplified compared to that described in the main patent, it also being possible to simplify the operability and to increase the operational safety.
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail with reference to drawings. Show it:
Fig. 1 shows the block diagram of a described embodiment, and
FIG. 2 shows the circuit diagram of an electronic time switch 50 according to FIG. 1, described as an example.
Fig. 1 shows the system intended for installation in a passenger car. The system is connected via an ignition switch 3 to a car battery 1, and also to an ignition coil 4 via the control winding of the starter relay 6 belonging to the starter to a starter 5 and to the line of an oil pressure switch. Furthermore, an accelerator pedal switch 13 that can be actuated by the accelerator pedal is provided. The positions of the switches shown in the figure correspond to the rest position of the system.
The installation itself essentially comprises a remote control device 215, a two-pole switchover relay 220, single-pole switch relays 230 and 240 as well as a time switch 250.
The remote control device 215 contains, for example, a push button switch 216 which, when the ignition switch 3 is switched on, connects the positive pole of the battery to a pole 222 of the control winding 221 of the relay 220. The remote control device 215 also comprises a control lamp 217, which is located between the output 253 of the timer 250 and ground.
The changeover relay 220 is connected with its second connection 223 of the already mentioned control winding 221 to the accelerator pedal switch 13 which acts as a control switch and whose second pole is connected to ground.
In the idle state, the accelerator pedal switch 13 is closed.
When the ignition switch 3 is switched on, the first switching bridge 224 of the relay 220 connects the positive pole of the battery to the ignition coil 4, so that the vehicle is ready for operation in this position. The second switching bridge 225 of the relay 220 connects the output 253 of the timer 250 to a first connection 232 of the control winding 231 belonging to the switching relay 230. If the switching bridges 224 and 225 of the relay 220 are attracted to the control winding 221, the positive pole of the battery is connected to the control input of the time switch 250 and the output 253 of the time switch 250 are connected to the first connection 222 of the control winding 221.
The second connection 233 of the already mentioned control winding 231 of the relay 230 is connected to the oil pressure switch 7 via a diode D. The diode D prevents a possible reverse current from the oil pressure control lamp which is also connected to the oil pressure switch 7 but is not shown in the figure. The control winding 241 of the second switching relay 240 is located between the second connection 233 of the switching relay 230 and the output 253 of the timer 250. This switching relay serves as a headlight relay, which keeps the large light S of the motor vehicle (low beam or high beam) switched on in the position shown .
The time switch 250, which is explained in more detail in FIG. 2, switches the positive pole of the battery to the output line 253 on the basis of a control signal on the control line 251.
The output line 253 remains energized until the accelerator switch 13 is actuated. Thereafter, after a predetermined period of time T, the voltage on the output line 253 drops again.
The function of the system is described below, it being assumed that the ignition switch 3 is switched on and the engine is already in operation. If the engine is to be switched off briefly, for example when stopping at a traffic light, the driver presses the button 216. The control winding 221 of the relay 220 is then energized, whereupon the switching bridge 224 moves to the lower position and the ignition coil 4 switches off. The engine then switches off and the control line 251 of the timer 250 is connected to the positive terminal of the battery. The time switch 250 then immediately connects the positive pole of the battery to its output line 253.
From this output line 253, the control winding 221 is kept under voltage via the second switching bridge 225 of the relay 220, which has now also been moved down, until the timer 250 disconnects the output line 253 from the positive pole of the battery after tapping the accelerator switch 13 and after the time constant T has expired. During the standby time of the system, the control lamp 217, which is also connected to the output line 253, lights up to be visible to the driver.
If the driver decides to restart the engine, it is sufficient to tap the accelerator pedal, whereupon the accelerator pedal switch 13 opens. As a result of this process, the voltage supply for the control winding 221 of the relay 220 is interrupted, whereupon it falls back into the position shown in FIG. 1. Thereupon the control winding 231 of the switching relay 230 is excited from the output line 253 of the timer 250 via the second switching bridge 225 of the relay 220 and on the other hand via the oil pressure switch 7 which is closed when the engine is at a standstill. This then connects the control winding of the starter relay 6 with the positive pole of the battery, whereupon the starting process begins.
Since the ignition coil is now also connected to the positive terminal of the battery via the first switching bridge 224, all switching conditions for starting the engine are fulfilled. If this starts up, the oil pressure switch 7 opens, whereupon the relay 230 drops out and interrupts the starter circuit.
The control winding 241 of the headlight relay 240, which is also connected between the oil pressure switch 7 and the output line 253, is energized as long as the engine is temporarily stationary. During this time, the large light of the Krakt vehicle is switched off so that only its parking lights are on, as required by law. In addition, an even load on the battery is achieved, as it is only loaded alternately, but not simultaneously by the headlights and starter. Of course, the relay 240 can be dispensed with in a simplified embodiment.
If the engine does not start within the preset time T of the timer 250, which can be 10 to 20 seconds in the example, or if it has stopped due to incorrect operation, the system can be restarted after briefly tapping the push button switch 216 to put. It is also possible to have the function of the pushbutton switch 216 taken over by the vehicle's own starter switch, which is normally combined with the ignition switch 3. In a simplified embodiment, the pushbutton switch 216 can then be dispensed with. Of course, both switches can also be in parallel. In this way, the first start-up process of the engine can also be considerably simplified, in that the starter switch only has to be actuated briefly so that the system responds.
Tapping the accelerator pedal to open the accelerator pedal switch 13 is then sufficient to start the engine. This avoids the often inappropriately long operation of the starter switch by inexperienced and inexperienced drivers.
Instead of the accelerator switch 13, any other switch can be provided, the contacts of which are normally closed. For example, this switch can be designed as a start button.
The function of the oil pressure switch 7 can also, as already proposed, be replaced by any other control signal sources. As already suggested, the pressure change in the intake line of the engine or the ignition pulse sequence can be used for this purpose. In addition, the changes in the starter current during the starting process can also be used to output signals. The voltage potential on the alternator or on the controller can also be used to output a corresponding control signal.
It should also be mentioned that instead of or in addition to control lamp 217, an acoustic signal transmitter can be provided. Instead of the relays described, electronic switches can be used partially or exclusively.
Individual assemblies, for example the changeover relay 220 and the time switch 250, can also be combined into a single group. A unit composed of the relay 220 and the time switch 250 would then act as a monostable multivibrator.
An exemplary embodiment for the time switch 250 is described below with reference to FIG. It should be noted that the type of timer is arbitrary per se. In addition to the electronic time switch described here, thermal or any other time switches can also be used. According to FIG. 2, the control input 251 is connected to a diode 60 which is connected to ground via a resistor Rx on the one hand via a timing element consisting of a capacitor C and a resistor R3 and on the other hand is connected to the base of a first transistor T1 via a resistor R2 . The emitter of the NPN-type transistor is connected to ground, while the collector is connected via a resistor Rs to the base of a second transistor T2 of the PNP-type.
The positive pole, which is also connected to the emitter of the transistor, is also connected to the base via a resistor R4. The collector of the second transistor T2 leads to the output line 253, which is connected to ground via the control lamp 217 according to FIG. As an exemplary embodiment, switching elements with the following values can be used with an operating voltage of 12 volts: Rt = 330 ohms
R2 = 39 kOhm Rs = 22 kOhm
R4 = 470 ohms
Rs = 1kOhm
C = 125, eeF
This results in a time constant T of about 10 seconds, during which the output line 253 remains connected to the positive pole after the accelerator pedal switch 13 has been actuated.
The described device considerably simplifies the starting process for the motor vehicle engine, whereby the driver is encouraged to switch off the engine even with short intermediate stops. This not only reduces fuel consumption, but also reduces the concentration of exhaust gases, especially in cities. In addition, measurements have shown that the CO content of the exhaust gases can be reduced considerably during the start-up process when using the system described. Measurements have shown that in normal, well adjusted automobiles, the CO content briefly rises to 45% during starting. After the start-up process, it drops to 1.8 0/0.
When using the system described, the CO content only rose to 2.5 o / o during the start-up process. Furthermore, the wear and tear on the engine is reduced, since it has been proven that individual parts are subjected to very high levels of stress and wear when idling.
