Description

Compressor for gas. The present invention relates to a gas compressor, characterized in that it comprises, mounted in a sealed casing, at the bottom of which is a layer of liquid, two shafts, one of which is controls at least one piston and the other of which driving the first is immersed in said sheet of liquid intended to intercept the gases and leaves the crankcase through a tight seal produced on the part at low pressure of the apparatus, the mechanism for transforming the rotary movement into reciprocating movement being placed so at Ure at sheltered from any splashing liquid.

The accompanying drawing represents, by by way of example, an embodiment of an eompressor according to the invention, intended mainly to to be used in a refrigeration plant and some details of the construction.

Fig. 1 is an elevation valve; Fig. 2 is a section in elevation by the major axis of the cylinders; Figs. 3 and 4 are a sectional and plan view of a discharge valve; Fig. 4 shows the shape of the spring. The right side is the plan view of the ball seats; Fig., To gives to by way of example one of the mounting forms of the stuffing-box. The apparatus consists of a 1 hermetic housing inside which are fixed several cylinders 2.

In the wall of the cylinders, at end of stroke of the pistons 9, openings L put in communication the empty space produced by the displacement of the piston with the injection. of the crankcase.

The pistons are connected together by a part 10 provided with a slide in which can move a ball bearing or pad 11, carried by a crank 12. The bottoms of the cylinders 2 constitute valve seats 3 in which are milled housings for balls 4. These latter are held on their seats by a spring 5. A stopper 6 limits the travel of the latter and a stud and nut 7 hold everything together.

Two 8 caps fitted with delivery pipes close the cylinders and hand hold the valve seats. On the other hand, water circulation with inlet 27 and outlet 28 is provided for cooling the compressor.

In the lower empty space of the casing, a sheet liquid 22 serves as lubrication for all the rotating members. On the other hand, a hollow shaft 16 controlled from the outside allows the liquid 22 to penetrate through its channel 19 and to reach the lateral orifices 20. which by the centrifugal force determine a certain pressure in space 21, pressure of>, intended to counterbalance the atmospheric pressure when the latter is greater than the internal pressure of the crankcase during operation of the machine.

This mechanism mounted in a hollow socket 17 hermetically closed by the part 18.

The shaft 16 carries at, its end, at inside the card.r, a pinion 15 </ B > which drives a toothed ring integral with the flywheel 14, a key 13 drives a crank shaft 12 which, at in turn, induces a back and forth movement -Li piston 9. This back and forth movement alternately creates a vacuum producing the filling of the cylinder by the lights L and the pistons continuing their stroke in the opposite direction compress the gases through the discharge valves.

A cover 25 forming a counter-bearing and a cover 26 carrying the suction pipe 24 hermetically seal the housing.
