Biegsame Welle.
Flexible shaft. The subject matter of the present invention is a flexible shaft in the form of a very straight-line wound band, which has the innovation that the individual folds of the band are interlocked. As a result, torsional forces that occur in such a shaft are transmitted directly from one tape winding to the other without the flexibility of the shaft being impaired.
The individual band windings can be imposed among themselves, for example, by toothing the band edges, so that the line of contact between the edges is not a geometric helix, but a broken helix. The teeth on the band edges can have any shape, for example one flank can run in the axial direction and the other at an angle thereto, or both flanks can run in the axial direction. The flanks can also be partly straight, partly curved, with a tooth with curved flanks engaging in a tooth gap with straight flanks or vice versa.
In order to be able to transmit relatively large forces with the flexible shaft, the arrangement can be made that two or more shafts are superimposed conaxially one inside the other as described above and the same where the driving force engages, i.e. at one end, and where power is given off, i.e. at the other end, couples with each other. In this case, shafts, for example with different or the same tooth construction and right-hand and left-hand shafts, can be pushed into one another alternately.
Some embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown on the attached sheet of drawings.
Figs. 1 and 2 show a shaft for power transmission in only one direction of rotation.
1 are the tape windings that make up the flexible shaft. 2 are the teeth on the band edges, which engage in the tooth gaps 3 of the adjacent turn. Since the teeth in this exemplary embodiment each have a flank running in the axial direction of the shaft and one flank running at least approximately in the circumferential direction of the shaft, the force transmission to torsion can only take place in one direction of rotation, apart from the elasticity of the belt.
3. and 4 show a flexible shaft for power transmission in both directions of rotation. 1 are in turn the tape windings that form the flexible shaft. The teeth 2 and accordingly the tooth gaps 3 have two straight flanks running in the axial direction of the shaft.
5, 6 and 9 show a variant of the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4. Here, a tooth 2 provided with arched flanks always engages in a tooth gap 4 with straight flanks and a tooth 5 with straight flanks in a Tooth gap 6 with curved flanks. This increases the flexibility of the shaft. The tooth shape, as far as the profile is concerned, can also be the same as in known gears.
7 and 8 represent a further embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, a three-part flexible shaft, formed from three, each of a helically wound band, whose individual passages are interlocked, existing, conaxially arranged in each other. 1 is the outer wave, 2 is the middle and 3 is the inner wave. These shafts can be mechanically coupled at both ends or soldered so that all shafts take part in the power transmission. The individual waves can be of any of the prescribed types.
