Description

Description [Title] DRINKING CUP WITH SOLID INGREDIENT STORING
SPACE
[Technical Field]
[0001] The disclosure relates to a drinking cup, more particular to a drinking cup having an ingredient-holding cup body.
[Related art]
[0002] When buying fresh or handmade beverage served in a container, the store usually offers skinny or thick straws that can be inserted through a lid or plastic film covered on the top of the container for customers to drink liquid and other solid food ingredients, such as, bubbles, coconut jellies, and Konjac Jellies. Due to cost considerations, most of the straws offered to the customers are made of plastic. However, when using a plastic straw for hot liquid, plasticizer and other harmful substances could leach into the liquid. In addition, the plastic straws are disposable and had led to massive plastic waste. It is known that plastic is non-degradable, and the burning of plastic waste will release toxic gases to contribute to air pollution. Thus, using plastic straws has become an environmental problem.
[0003] Although the promotion of using reusable straws made of stainless steel or glass has been developed to avoid the aforementioned problems, those willing to prepare and use such reusable straw are still in minority, not to mention that people often forget to bring it along, and thus the usage of plastic straws can hardly be reduced.

Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10
[0004] Moreover, when using a straw for a liquid with solid food ingredients, it often happens that all the liquid had been sucked up but a small portion of solid food ingredients still remains, which may take the customer extra time for drinking the remaining ingredients out of the container. Accordingly, how to avoid using plastic straws to prevent the above environmental problems while avoiding the solid food ingredients from remaining is desirable to be solved.
[Summary]
[0005] The disclosure is to provide a drinking cup that can prevent environmental problems raised by using plastic straws and can avoid the solid food ingredients from remaining while using a straw.

Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10
[0008] According to the drinking cup of the aforementioned embodiments, inclinations of the ingredient-holding bottom part, the first side part, and the second side part of the ingredient-holding cup body are different, the liquid channel is formed between the second side part and the outer cup body for the liquid to separately flow therethrough, and the liquid-and-ingredient mixing area is formed between the first side part and the drinking hole of the cup lid for mixing the liquid and the solid ingredient. Therefore, when the user tilts the drinking cup to cause the liquid to flow towards the drinking hole and the solid ingredient is fed to the liquid-and-ingredient mixing area with the flow of the liquid sequentially along the ingredient-holding bottom part, the first side part, and the second side part. By doing so, the user can drink the solid ingredient fully mixed with the liquid without using straw, and the liquid or the solid ingredient can be completely poured out of the drinking cup without remaining.
[0009] In addition, the ice cube is located in the accommodation space located under the ingredient-holding cup body to cool the liquid, making the temperature and the flavor of the liquid much more uniform.
The aforementioned summary and the following detailed description of the disclosure is to demonstrate and explain the principle of the disclosure, and provide a further explanation of the claims of the disclosure.

[0013] The drinking cup 10 includes an outer cup body 100, an ingredient-holding cup body 200, a cup lid 300, a sealing ring 350, and a sealing plug 400.

LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02
[0014] The outer cup body 100 is made of, for example, plastic or steel. The outer cup body 100 is configured for being held by a user, and includes a cup bottom 110 and a cup body 120. The cup bottom 110 has a bottom surface 111. The bottom surface 111 is configured to rest on the flat surface of a desk. The cup body 120 is connected to a side of the cup bottom 110 that is located farthest away from the bottom surface 111 and protrudes in a direction away from the bottom surface 111, such that the cup body 120 and the cup bottom 110 together form an accommodation space Si and a cup opening 0. The liquid 20 is configured to be held in the accommodation space Si.
[0015] The cup lid 300 is disposed on the cup body 120 of the outer cup body 100 via the sealing ring 350 and covers the cup opening 0, thereby enhancing the airtightness between the cup lid 300 and the cup body 120. The sealing ring 350 is, for example, a rubber ring. In addition, the cup lid 300 has a drinking hole 310 for the user to drink. The drinking hole 310 will be described in detail in later paragraphs.
[0016] Please refer to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of FIG. 1. FIG. 5 is a partially enlarged view of FIG. 4.
[0017] In this embodiment, the cup body 120 includes a wider cup portion 121, a supporting portion 123, and a narrower cup portion 122.
The supporting portion 123 connects the wider cup portion 121 and the narrower cup portion 122. The width of the wider cup portion 121 is greater than the width of the narrower cup portion 122. Additionally, the narrower cup portion 122 includes a first tapered side part 1221 and a Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10 second tapered side part 1222. The first tapered side part 1221 is located closer to the drinking hole 310 than the second tapered side part 1222, and the minimum distance G1 between the first tapered side part 1221 and a center line A of the cup opening 0 is lower than the minimum distance G2 between the second tapered side part 1222 and the center line A of the cup opening 0. That is, the first tapered side part 1221 is recessed further towards the center line A than the second tapered side part 1222. This makes the cup body 120 of the outer cup body 100 in an asymmetric shape and such a curved shape is more suitable for the user to hold the cup body 120. As shown, the center line A passes through a center point C of the cup opening o.
[0018] The ingredient-holding cup body 200 is made of, for example, plastic or steel. The ingredient-holding cup body 200 is located in the accommodation space Si. The ingredient-holding cup body 200 rests on the cup body 120 so that the ingredient-holding cup body 200 and the cup bottom 110 are spaced apart from each other. The ingredient-holding cup body 200 has an ingredient storing space S2 and a plurality of liquid-through holes 205. Each liquid-through hole 205 is in an elongated shape, and the ingredient storing space S2 is connected to the accommodation space Si via the liquid-through holes 205. The solid ingredient 22 is configured to be held in the ingredient storing space S2. The width of the solid ingredient 22 is greater than the width of the liquid-through holes 205, such that the solid ingredient 22 is unable to pass through the liquid-through holes 205 and therefore is stored in the ingredient storing space S2. Moreover, if there is a non-liquid object, such as a tea bag (not shown) LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 or an ice cube 24 (please temporarily refer to FIG. 6) in the liquid drink 20 held in the accommodation space Si, the tea bag (not shown) or the ice cube 24 can be placed in the accommodation space Si located on a side of the ingredient supporting cup body 200 that is located closest to the cup bottom 110. In general, the width of the tea bag or the ice cubes is greater than that of the solid ingredient 22, and thus the tea bag or the ice cubes is/are unable to pass through the liquid-through holes 205 and will be kept in the accommodation space Si located on the side of the ingredient-holding cup body 200 that is located closest to the cup bottom 110. As such, the tea bag or the ice cubes can be kept at the half-height position of the outer cup body 100.
[0019]
In this embodiment, rather than a single liquid-through hole extending continuously, liquid-through holes 205 that can be divided into several segments and extend discontinuously are disposed from a side of the ingredient-holding cup body 200 that is located closest to the drinking hole 310 towards a side of the ingredient-holding cup body 200 that is located farthest away from the drinking hole 310, thereby strengthening the structural strength of the ingredient-holding cup body 200, but the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, if the ingredient-holding cup body is made of a material with high structural strength, such as steel, a single liquid-through hole extending continuously may be disposed from the side of the ingredient-holding cup body that is located closest to the drinking hole toward the side of the ingredient-holding cup body that is located farthest away from the drinking hole.

Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10
[0020] In this embodiment, the elongated shape of the liquid-through holes 205 facilitates the user to clean up the ingredient-holding cup body 200, but the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the liquid-through holes may be in a circular shape.
[0021] In this embodiment, the side of the ingredient-holding cup body 200 that is located closest to the drinking hole 310 includes a first resting part 210, a first side part 220, and a second side part 230. The first side part 220 connects the first resting part 210 and the second side part 230. The inclination of the first side part 220 is different from that of the second side part 230. Moreover, at least part of the liquid-through holes 205 are located on the first side part 220 and the second side part 230 so that the liquid 20 is allowed to flow through the first side part 220 and the second side part 230 but the solid ingredient 22 is not allowed to go through the first side part 220 and the second side part 230.
[0022] In detail, the first resting part 210, the first side part 220 and the second side part 230 are respectively at a first angle 01, a second angle 02, and a third angle 03 to the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110. Taking the first angle 01 as an example, the first angle 01 is an angle between a connection line between two opposite ends of the first resting part 210 and the bottom surface 111. This also applies to the second angle 02 and the third angle 03.
[0023] In this embodiment, the first angle 01 is, for example, 85 degrees, the second angle 02 is, for example, 49 degrees, and the third angle 03 is, for example, 85 degrees. That is to say that the second angle Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10 02 between the first side part 220 and the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110 is smaller than the third angle 03 between the second side part 230 and the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110, and the second angle 02 between the first side part 220 and the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110 is smaller than the first angle 01 between the first resting part 210 and the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110. However, the relationship among the first angle 01, the second angle 02, and the third angle 03 is not intended to limit the disclosure. In other embodiments, the first angle between the first resting part and the bottom surface of the cup bottom may also be different from the second angle between the first side part and the bottom surface of the cup bottom, and the second angle between the first side part and the bottom surface of the cup bottom may also be different from the third angle between the second side part and the bottom surface of the cup bottom.
[0024]
Furthermore, the first resting part 210 rests on the wider cup portion 121 and the supporting portion 123 of the cup body 120. The second side part 230 and the outer cup body 100 are spaced apart from each other so that a liquid channel X1 is formed between the second side part 230 and the outer cup body 100. The first side part 220 is disposed between the first resting part 210 and the second side part 230 in an inclined manner, and the first side part 220 and the cup lid 300 are spaced apart from each other so that a liquid-and-ingredient mixing area X2 is formed between the first side part 220 and the drinking hole 310 of the cup lid 300. The liquid channel X1 that is independent from the ingredient storing space S2 is configured to allow the liquid 20 to reach the drinking LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 hole 310 without being blocked by the solid ingredient 22. When the liquid 20 enters into the liquid-and-ingredient mixing area X2 via the liquid-through holes 205 of the first side part 220, the liquid 20 can be fully mixed with the solid ingredient 22 to become the final product for drinking.
[0025] The above values of the first angle 01, the second angle 02, and the third angle 03 are not intended to limit the disclosure. In other embodiments, the value of the first angle may substantially be any angular magnitude ranging between 80 to 90 degrees. The value of the second angle may substantially be any angular magnitude ranging between 40 to 60 degrees. The value of the third angle may substantially be any angular magnitude ranging between 65 to 85 degrees.
[0026] In addition, the side of the ingredient-holding cup body 200 that is located farthest away from the drinking hole 310 includes a second resting part 240, a third resting part 250 and a third side part 260.
The third resting part 250 connects the second resting part 240 and the third side part 260, and the inclination of the second resting part 240, the inclination of the third resting part 250 and the inclination of the third side part 260 are different. Further, at least part of the liquid-through holes 205 are located on the third side part 260 so as to allow the liquid 20 to flow through the third side part 260 and not allow the solid ingredient 22 to go through the third side part 260.
[0027] In detail, the second resting part 240, the third resting part 250 and the third side part 260 are respectively at a fourth angle 04, a fifth angle 05 and a sixth angle 06 to the bottom surface 111 of the cup Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10 bottom 110. Taking the fourth angle 04 as an example, the fourth angle 04 is an angle between the connection line of two opposite ends of the second resting part 240 and the bottom surface 111. This also applies to the fifth angle 05 and the sixth angle 06.
[0028] In this embodiment, the fourth angle 04 is, for example, 85 degrees, the fifth angle 05 is, for example, 68 degrees, and the sixth angle 06 is, for example, 71 degrees. Also, the second resting part 240 and the third resting part 250 rest on the wider cup portion 121 and the supporting portion 123 of the cup body 120. The third side part 260 and the outer cup body 100 are spaced apart from each other. However, the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the third side part and the outer cup body may partially or entirely rest against each other.
[0029] In addition, the ingredient-holding cup body 200 further includes an ingredient-holding bottom part 270. The ingredient-holding bottom part 270 is connected to the second side part 230 and the third side part 260, and is spaced apart from the cup bottom 110. Moreover, at least part of the liquid-through holes 205 are located on the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 so as to allow the liquid 20 to flow through the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 and not allow the solid ingredient 22 to go through the ingredient-holding bottom part 270.
[0030] In detail, the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 is at a seventh angle 07 to the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110 so as to be inclined. The seventh angle 07 is an angle between the connection line between two opposite ends of the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 and LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 the bottom surface 111. The seventh angle 07 is, for example, 15 degrees, but the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the seventh angle 07 may range between 10 to 20 degrees.
[0031] In addition, a distance G3 between the side of the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 that is located closest to the drinking hole 310 and the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110 is greater than a distance G4 of the side of the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 that is located farthest away from the drinking hole 310 and the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110.
[0032] Due to the different inclinations of the ingredient-holding bottom part 270, the first side part 220, and the second side part 230 of the ingredient-holding cup body 200, the solid ingredient 22 in the ingredient supporting cup body 200 tends to sequentially be fed to the liquid-and-ingredient mixing area X2 along the ingredient supporting bottom part 270, the first side part 220 and the second side part 230. That is, the inclinations of the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 of the ingredient-holding cup body 200, the first side part 220, and the second side part 230 of this embodiment can prevent the solid ingredient 22 in the ingredient-holding cup body 200 from filling the entire liquid-and-ingredient mixing area X2 and clogging up the drinking hole 310 at one time.
[0033] The cup lid 300 further has a vent hole 320 and two pivot bases 330. Both of the drinking hole 310 and the vent hole 320 are connected to the accommodation space Si and the ingredient storing space Date recue / Date received 2021-12-10 S2. The drinking hole 310 is configured for the user to drink the liquid 20 and the solid ingredient 22 in the drinking cup 10. Further, in this embodiment, the drinking hole 310 is in, for example, an ellipse shape. If the solid ingredient 22 are, for example, bubbles in sphere shape, the length of the semi-minor axis of the ellipse-shaped drinking hole 310 is, for example, equal to the diameter of the solid ingredient 22. In this way, when the solid ingredient 22 is located at the drinking hole 310, the solid ingredient 22 does not clog up the drinking hole 310 so that the liquid 20 can flow out of the remaining region of the drinking hole 310.
[0034] The vent hole 320 is configured to induce the convection of gas inside the cup so as to enhance the convenience for the user to drink the liquid and the ingredient via the drinking hole 310.
[0035] Note that the shape of the drinking hole 310 is not intended to limit the disclosure. In other embodiments, the drinking hole may be in a non-circular shape, such as a triangular shape and a quadrilateral shape, or a circular shape.
[0036] The sealing plug 400 includes a connecting part 410, a first plug part 420, and a second plug part 430. A side of the connecting part 410 is pivotally connected to the two pivot bases 330 of the cup lid 300.
The first plug part 420 is disposed on another side of the connecting part 410 and is configured to seal the drinking hole 310. The second plug part 430 is disposed on the connecting part 410 and is configured to seal the vent hole 320.
[0037] In addition, in this embodiment, the connecting part 410 LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 is, for example, flexible, but the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the connecting part may not be flexible.
[0038] Please refer to FIG. 6 and FIG. 7. FIG. 6 and FIG. 7 are schematic views showing how to use the drinking cup in FIG.1.
[0039] As shown in FIG. 6, the ingredient-holding cup body 200 holds the solid ingredient 22, and the solid ingredient 22 is, for example, a bubble. The liquid 20 is held in the accommodation space Si of the outer cup body 100, and the solid ingredient 22 is fully immersed in the liquid 20. The ice cube 24 is located in the accommodation space Si located under the ingredient-holding cup body 200 and is kept at the half-height position of the outer cup body 100 by being blocked by the ingredient-holding cup body 200.
[0040] As shown in FIG. 7, a user 30 opens the sealing plug 400 and tilts the drinking cup 10 to cause the liquid 20 to flow towards the drinking hole 310 along a direction F and the solid ingredient 22 is fed to the liquid-and-ingredient mixing area X2 with the flow of the liquid 20 sequentially along the ingredient-holding bottom part 270, the first side part 220, and the second side part 230. By doing so, the user 30 can drink the solid ingredient 22 fully mixed with the liquid 20 without using straw, and the liquid 20 or the solid ingredient 22 can be completely poured out of the drinking cup 10 without remaining.
[0041] In addition, the ice cube 24 is located in the accommodation space Si located under the ingredient-holding cup body 200 to cool the liquid 20, making the temperature and the flavor of the LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 liquid 20 much more uniform.
[0042] The disclosure is not limited by the inclination of the first resting part 210, the first side part 220, the second side part 230, the second resting part 240, the third resting part 250, the third side part 260 and the ingredient-holding bottom part 270 mentioned in the above embodiments. In other embodiments, the average distance between the outer cup body and a middle portion of the ingredient-holding cup body of the drinking cup located on one side of the ingredient-holding cup body may be different from an average distance between the outer cup body and a middle portion of the ingredient-holding cup body located on an opposite side of the ingredient-holding cup body, and this is within the scope of the present disclosure. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, the average distance between the cup body 120 of the outer cup body 100 and the first side part 220 and the second side part 230 is greater than the average distance between the cup body 120 of the outer cup body 100 and the third side part 260. Taking the first side part 220 and the second side part 230 as an example, there are various distances between the cup body 120 of the outer cup body 100 and the first side part 220 and the second side part 230, and the so-called average distance is the average of these distances.
[0043] The cup lid 300 mentioned in the above embodiments is a lid formed by performing an injection molding with plastic material, but the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the cup lid may be a sealing film of the drinking cup.
[0044] Please refer to FIG. 8, FIG. 8 is a partially enlarged cross-LEGAL J:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 sectional view of a drinking cup according to a second embodiment of the disclosure.
[0045] In this embodiment, the ingredient-holding cup body 200a has a first resting part 210a and a second resting part 220a that are opposite to each other. The first resting part 210a is located closer to the drinking hole 310 than the second resting part 220a, and a height H2 by which the second resting part 220a protrudes from the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110 is greater than a height H1 by which the first resting part 210a protrudes from the bottom surface 111 of the cup bottom 110, thereby facilitating the user to remove the ingredient-holding cup body 200a from the outer cup body 100. Moreover, in this embodiment, the second resting part 220a further has a concave-convex structure 221a to further facilitate the user to remove the ingredient-holding cup body 200a from the outer cup body 100.
[0046] In this embodiment, the concave-convex structure 221a is, for example, a protruding rib, but the disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the concave-convex structure may also be a recession or a through hole.
[0047] According to the drinking cup of the aforementioned embodiments, inclinations of the ingredient-holding bottom part, the first side part, and the second side part of the ingredient-holding cup body are different, the liquid channel is formed between the second side part and the outer cup body for the liquid to separately flow therethrough, and the liquid-and-ingredient mixing area is formed between the first side part LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 and the drinking hole of the cup lid for mixing the liquid and the solid ingredient.
[0048] In addition, the ice cube is located in the accommodation space located under the ingredient-holding cup body to cool the liquid, making the temperature and the flavor of the liquid much more uniform.
[0049] Since the average distance between the outer cup body and the middle portion of the ingredient-holding cup body of the drinking cup located on one side of the ingredient-holding cup body is different from the average distance between the outer cup body and the middle portion of the ingredient-holding cup body located on the opposite side of the ingredient-holding cup body, the liquid inside the drinking cup can flow towards and concentrate on the side of the ingredient-holding cup body whose distance from the outer cup body is greater. If the side of the ingredient-holding cup body whose distance from the outer cup body is greater is located close to the drinking hole, the liquid can flow to the drinking hole in a more concentrated manner to be drank by the user.
[0050] Although the present disclosure is illustrated by the LEGAL_1:62480267.1 Date Recue/Date Received 2020-09-02 aforementioned embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to the present disclosure without departing from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure, and thus it is intended that the scope of the present disclosure is indicated by the following claims.
