Abstract
A transportation vehicle having an electrical motor turning the front two wheels of the vehicle. The same vehicle having an internal combustion motor turning any of the rear wheels of the vehicle. The two motors of the vehicle being made to work singularly or in unison.
Description
(4) SPECIFICATION
The invention allows an electrical motor to rotate the front wheels and an internal combustion motor to rotate the rear wheels of a vehicle.
Vehicles that only operate internal combustion motors cause excessive pollution and fuel consumption. This occurs mainly under conditions of city driving where vehicles are operated at speeds between 0 - 80 KPH. Vehicles are forced to undergo excessive idling during rush hours, and traffic jams. During normal conditions stop and acceleration is the main pattern of driving. Both of these factors cause pollution and excessive fuel consumpti:on.'For:t~sse reasons it is harmful to people and the environment to unnecessarily operate internal combustion motors within city limits.
It is known that an electrical motor can be made to operate the front two wheels of a vehicle at speeds frorn 0 - 80 KPH. An internal combustion motor can be made to turn the rear wheels of the same vehicle at speeds beyond 80 KPH. The internal combustion motor when required would recharge the batteries for the electrical motor without powering the rear wheels under city driving conditions.
The main function of the internal combustion motor would be to power the rear wheels on the highway. The electrical and internal combustion motor would work in unison to provide four wheel drive when road conditions demanded increased traction or safe driving in the city or highway.
