Description
- 201~7~3 PATENT APPLICATION
The present invention relates to oral hygiene, specifically for cleaning teeth.
Although a variety of purposes exist, such as a cleaning or polishing machine.
Various types of electric toothbrushes are manufactured. One type comprises of avibrating brush. This type has the disadvantage that it does not clean the teeth with the proper brush direction. The proper way to brush teeth has the brush starting at the gums, brushing past the gum line, then the entire tooth. The vibration type does not perform this function. Another type of electric brush has bristles which rotate.
This also does not brush properly.
It is most desirable to have the bristles on the brush revolve in the same direction, for the most effective cleaning, as recommended by the dental community.
The present invention consists of a brush with bristles around the brush head. The motorized unit then revolves the bristled brush in either direction, depending on which teeth are being cleaned. It would be used starting at the gums, rotating to the gum line, to the teeth and then to the tip of the teeth, thus removing any foreign material from the teeth and between the teeth and depositing it in the mouth.
The bristles of the brush will come in a variety of shapes and sizes. A variable speed switch, forward and reverse could be used. The brush heads would simply snap in and out of the motor unit.
The motor unit consists of a plastic body which will contain the batteries, motor switch and reduction gears which reduce the motor speed to an acceptable brushing speed. The motor switch will be a forward and reversing switch. The brush heads will be interchangeable simply by snapping them in and out of the motor unit. The motor unit will have a socket which will accept the removable brush heads.
This unit consists of plastics of different consistencies: hard resilient for the case, and semi rigid for the interchangeable brush heads.
The unit can be operated with one hand, using the thumb or index finger to operate the switch.
