Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A method of automatically controlling signal receiving in a mobile radiophone apparatus for data communication having an automatic receiving function comprises the steps of: (1) setting the mobile radiophone apparatus to an automatic receiving mode by making use of automatic receiving mode set information inputted through an operating part of a control unit (CU); (2) delivering, after detecting receiving to itself with the aid of a transmitter/
receiver unit, a receiving indication signal including an indi-cation for the automatic receiving mode to a data modem circuit;
(3) establishing a link between the modem circuit and the data terminal, and thereafter disconnecting the connection through an audio line between the transmitter/receiver unit (TRU) and the control unit (CU) and connecting the transmitter/receiver unit (TRU) with the modem circuit, and thereafter delivering an answer tone signal to the transmitter/receiver unit (TRU); and starting to receive the data from a calling party in the transmitter/receiver unit and delivering the data to the data terminal. The mobile radiophone apparatus with use of the present method of automatically controlling signal receiving can auto-matically process received data even if an operator is absent, or is too busy to operate the equipment.

Description

The present invention relates to a method of auto-magically controlling signal receiving in a mobile redefine apparatus for use in data communication having an automatic receiving function.
Mobile phone systems have already been put on a common-coal basis in America, Europe, Japan, etc., and data commune-cation by mobile radio has also been put into practical use.
A current mobile phone system must have an operator on both sides of a mobile unit and a land station respectively.
Therefore, the system cannot answer any incoming signal if the operator is away from the mobile unit or in operation of a mobile in an area where it would be dangerous to let go his hold of something in his hand.
The automatic receiving function itself has already been widely employed in facsimile systems. Namely, when there is any call in from a calling party, receiving processing is auto-magically effected for data transmission even if no operator is present on the receiving side.
However, there is no mobile redefine apparatus having such an automatic receiving function at present. Accordingly, a prior mobile redefine apparatus cannot automatically process incoming data if no operator is present there.
In view of the drawbacks with the conventional mobile redefine apparatus, it is an object of the present invention to provide, in effecting data communication with use of a mobile redefine apparatus as in an automobile, an automatic receiving I

control method of the mobile redefine apparatus capable of automatically receiving data even under the conditions that no operator is present on the side of the mobile redefine apparatus or the operator is too busy to operate the equipment.
To achieve the above object, a mobile redefine appear-tusk embodying an automatic receiving control method according to the present invention comprises (a) a transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) composed of a transmitting part, a receiving part, and a control processor; (b) a control unit (CUT) composed of an operating part, a handset, an audio signal amplifier, and a control processor; and (c) a data modem composed of a modem circuit, a control processor, and a changeover switch, the modem circuit being connected with the transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) and the control unit (CUT) by a bus line via an I/O port, and being connected with the transmitter/receiver unit (TRY), and the control unit (CUT) by an audio line via the changeover switch.
The automatic receiving control method comprises the steps of:
(a) receiving automatic receiving mode set information entered from the operating part of the control unit (CUT) and thereby setting the transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) to an automatic receiving mode; (b) receiving page information transmitted from a cell site by means of the transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) for detecting receiving to the mobile redefine apparatus itself, and thereafter delivering a receiving signal including an indication for the automatic receiving mode to the data modem; (c) receiving I

the receiving indication signal in the data modem and thereby delivering a hook signal to the transmitter/receiver (TRY), establishing a link between the data modem and a terminal for receiving the data, disconnecting the connection of the audio line between the transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) and the control unit (CUT) by means of the changeover switch and connecting the transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) and the data modem with each other and thereafter delivering an answer signal to the transmitter/
receiver unit (TRY); and (d) after receiving the answer signal, starting to receive the data from the calling party and delivering the data to the terminal via the data modem.
The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating a data communication system in mobile radio;
Figure 2 is a block diagram illustrating a mobile redefine apparatus on the mobile side; and Figure 3 is a view illustrating a procedure for auto-matte data receiving in the mobile redefine apparatus.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
An automatic terminating control method for a mobile '7~3~

redefine apparatus will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. In Figure it designated at 1 is a computer, 2 is a telephone set, 3 is a data modem on the land side, 4 is a Public Switching Telephone Network (STY), 5 is a Mobile Telecommunication Switching Office (MTSO), 6 is a cell site, 7 is a mobile unit, 8 is a mobile phone transmitter/receiver unit (TRY), 9 is a data modem, 10 is a control unit (CUT), and 11 is a data terminal for effecting data transmission between the control unit (CUT) and the computer I The components from the computer 1 to the cell site 6 are located on the land side, while the components from the mobile phone transmitter/receiver unit 8 to the data terminal 11 are carried on the mobile 7. An outline of the data communication between the computer 1 on the land side and the terminal of the mobile 7 is as follows. Any data from the computer 1 is delivered to the data modem 3 in a block unit, subjected there to error correction encoding, and delivered to the STY 4. The data is furthermore received by the mobile phone transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) 8 of the mobile 7 via the MTSO 5 and the cell site 6 through a radio link. The received data is subjected to such processing as decoding, etc., through the data modem 9, and transferred to the data terminal 11. The mobile redefine apparatus 7 according to the present invention is adapted to automatically effect such receiving processing, which will be described with reference to Figure 2.
As illustrated in Figure 2 showing a block diagram of an lZ3'~'7F~1 embodiment of a mobile redefine apparatus with an automatic receiving function according to the present invention, the mobile phone transmitter/receiver unit (TRY) 8 is a full duplex system, and comprises a receiving part 81, a control processor 83, an I/O
port 84, and duplexes 85 for transmitting/receiving any signal.
The receiving part 81 consists of an RF amplifier 811 for amplifying a received signal available from the antenna system, a mixer 812 and a local oscillator 813 for frequency-converting a signal subjected to high frequency amplification, an IF amplifier 814 (including a limiter and a discriminator) for amplifying an output of a mixer 812, and an A amplifier 815 (audio frequency amplifier) for amplifying to the required level the audio output of IF amplifier 814. In addition, the transmitting part 82 known per so, consists of an audio frequency amplifier part, an oscillator part, a modulator part, a multiplying part, and a power amplifier. Likewise the control processor 83 functioning to control the whole of the TRY 8, comprises a CPU 831, an address latch 832, a RAM 833, and a ROM 834. Moreover, the I/O
port 84 serves to transmit and receive any data between the control unit (CUT) 10 and the data modem 9 via the bus B.
In succession, the data modem 9 consists of an I/O
port 91, a control processor 92, a switch 93, a modem circuit 94, and a RS-232c interface port 95. The data modem 9 is adapted to demodulate and decode any data from the TRY 8, and delivers it to the data terminal 11, while being adapted to 1~3'~7~

modulate any data from the data terminal 11 and deliver it to the TRY 8. The RS-232c interface pox 95 connects the data terminal 11 and the data modem 9 with each other. The TRY 8 and the control unit (CUT) 10 are connected with each other via a signal line Q
a switch 93, and a signal line Q2. Any data received by the TRY 8 is transferred to the modem circuit 94 via the signal line Al and the switch 93, demodulated, and delivered to a RAM
923 of the control processor 92. The CPU 921, after effecting such processing as decoding, etc., for stored data, delivers it to the data terminal 11 via the RS-232c-interface port 95.
Furthermore, the control unit (CUT) 10 corresponds to a handset port and a handset housing part, which includes an A
amplifier 101 for amplifying an audio frequency signal, and I/O
port 103, a control processor 102, a dial key and key switches 104 for function keys, and a handset (not shown), etc. The CUT 10 is connected by the I/O port 103 to the TRY 8 and the data modem 9 via the bus B, and further connected with the data modem 9 via an audio signal line Q2 and also with the TRY 8 via the switch 93 and an audio signal line Al. Voice communication with this I arrangement can be effected by delivering an audio signal received by the TRY 8 to the CUT 10 via the signal lines Al and Q2 and doing the same through the opposite route. Data communication can be effected by changing over the switch 93 of the data modem 9, connecting the signal line Al with the modem circuit 94, and disconnecting the signal lines Al and Q2 from each other.

1~3'7'~

The automatic receiving function of the mobile radio-phone apparatus will now be described with reference to Figure 2 and the operation flow chart of Figure 3.
First, after turning on a power source (not shown) for the mobile redefine apparatus, predetermined automatic receiving mode set information is inputted from a key switch 104 of the CUT
10 (dial key or function key) (Figure 3 So). The automatic receiving set information is formed by combining figures, characters, and symbols with each other. The automatic receiving set information so inputted is, after being recognized by the control processor 102 and encoded, delivered to the TRY
via the I/O port 103 and the bus B. The TRY 8 recognizes the automatic receiving mode set information sent from the central processor 83 and thereby sets itself to the automatic receiving mode (Figure 3 So). The mode setting is effected by setting specific data to a specific address of the RAM 833. The TRY 8 waits for any answering in this automatic receiving mode.
The TRY 8 successively selects and monitors a page channel, and receives page information transmitted from the cell site 6 in succession to extract the identification number of the mobile unit in concern for investigating whether or not the calling is for itself. Recognizing the page information as being receiving to itself, the TRY 8 delivers the receiving signal to the CUT 10 via the signal line Al, switch 93, and signal line Q2 (Figure 3 So). The CUT 10 thereby actuates a ringer to provide a ringing tone (ringer) (Figure 3 So).
Simultaneously, the TRY 8 transfers a receiving indicating signal I phyla for informing an operator of the presence of the receiving (including also an indicator of the automatic receiving mode) to the data modem 9 via the bus B. (Figure 3 So). The data modem in an idle state enters into the data communication mode by recognizing the receiving indication signal to start the auto-matte receiving operation. Namely, when the control processor 92 of the data modem 9 recognizes the receiving indicating signal, it sets itself to the automatic receiving mode (set specific data to a specified address of the RAM 923) (Figure 3 So), and then delivers a hook signal to the TRY 8 (a signal corresponding to an off-hook signal of a handset in voice communication) (Figure 3 So). In succession, the control processor 92 establishes a link for the data terminal 11 with a prescribed procedure via the RS-232c interface port part (Figure 3 So), and thereafter changes over the switch 93, disconnects the connection between the signal lines Al and Q2, and connects the signal line Al to the modem circuit 94 (Figure 3 So). Hereby, a ringer of the SIEGE
10 is interrupted (Figure 3 S10). The number of times of ringing of the ringer is two in the present embodiment, but it can freely be set in the control processor 92 of the data modem 9.
After completion of a number of these sequences, an answer tone signal is transmitted from the data modem 9 to the TRY
8 (Figure 3 Sit). The signal is an audio signal and is trays-milted to the transmitting part 82 via the signal line Al.
Waiting for the answer tone signal, the TRY 8 starts -to receive 78~

data from a calling party, and delivers the received data from the receiving part 81 to the modem circuit of the data modem 9 via the signal line Al (Figure 3 S12). The data modem 9 demodulates the received data in the modem circuit, and the control processor 92 subjects it to such processing as decoding and delivers it to the data terminal 11 (Figure 3 S13).
Although the automatic receiving function of the mobile redefine according to the present invention was as described above, it goes without saying that the present mobile redefine apparatus has not only the function of automatic receiving but the functions of receiving and originating, respectively, in voice communication and data communication. Moreover, for the data terminal 11, computers, data terminals, printers, facsimiles, etc., can be employed.
According to the present invention, as described above, the present mobile redefine apparatus with the function of automatic receiving can receive any information from a distant side even if an operator is temporarily away from the mobile telephone set or even in a case where it is difficult for the operator to operate the mobile telephone set.
Furthermore, the method of automatically controlling receiving according to the present invention can be applied not only to public mobile phones but to multi channel access (MICA) radio and personal radio, etc.

~`7'7~31 Although a certain preferred embodiment has been shown and described, it should be understood that many changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
