<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
2) DÉPLACEMENTS DES DIFFÉRENTS DOIGTS PAR RAPPORT À LA LARGEUR DE LA BARRE D'ESPACEMENT POUR ATTENDRE LES TOUCHES ALPHABÉTIQUES :
Préambule : - l'énonciation des lettres dans ce point est présentée pour un clavier de type belge ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

DESCRIPTION ET APPORTS NOUVEAUX DE L'INVENTION
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
EMI8.1
6) DISPOSITION DES SIGNES SYMÉTRIQUES APPARIÉS : () ; < > ; /\)) ; {} ? ; [] . un regroupement plus logique de ces signes par des placements sur des touches symétriques par rapport aux touches de navigation : - ( est placé sur une touche en symétrie avec la touche ) ; - < est placé sur une touche en symétrie avec la touche > ; - / est placé sur une touche en symétrie avec la touche \ ; - { est placé sur une touche en symétrie avec la touche } ; - jazz est placé sur une touche en symétrie avec la touche ] 7) DISPOSITION DE CARACTÈRES ET DE SIGNES SPÉCIAUX PRÉSENTANT DES ANALOGIES : A, à, @ ; E, é, & ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
8) DISPOSITION DE SIGNES DE PONCTUATION DE SIGNES MATHÉMATIQUES ET DE CARACTÈRES PRÉSENTANT DES ANALOGIES :
EMI9.1
-+?; ; ! ? ; :. ; , ; ? ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
11) DÉDOUBLEMENT DE LA VIRGULE AU CÔTE DU POINT DANS LE PAVÉ NUMÉRIQUE : - contrairement aux claviers antérieurs à cette invention, la touche zéro du pavé numérique occupe une largeur équivalente aux touches des autres chiffres du pavé numérique ;
- la réduction de la largeur de la touche zéro permet d'insérer un dédoublement de la virgule sous forme d'une touche supplémentaire entre le zéro et le point, pour permettre l'écriture plus aisée de nombres décimaux avec la virgule, sans devoir perdre du temps en quittant le pavé numérique pour aller chercher la virgule dans la partie alphanumérique ;
EMI10.1

DESCRIPTION New key layout and new assignment of
EMI1.1
characters for computer keyboards TECHNICAL AREA: COMPUTER KEYBOARDS.
STATE OF THE ART PRIOR TO THE INVENTION: 1) THE POSITION OF THE KEYS AND THE ARRANGEMENT OF CHARACTERS: the position of the keys and the arrangement of the characters of current computer keyboards and current electric typewriters are seen from above for the part alphanumeric, very visibly inspired by the position of the keys and the arrangement of the characters of the old mechanical typewriters of the AZERTY and QWERTY types.
The allocation of the characters letters and signs on the keys was studied so that the characters most frequently used successively are not joined to avoid the crossings which often blocked the metal bars connecting the keys to the typographical characters
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
2) MOVEMENTS OF THE DIFFERENT FINGERS RELATIVE TO THE WIDTH OF THE SPACE BAR TO WAIT FOR ALPHABETICAL TOUCHES:
Preamble: - the wording of the letters in this point is presented for a Belgian type keyboard;
- the initial position of the fingers in this point is presented with a modern typing where the initial position of the fingers is located on the middle line of the alphanumeric part, namely on a
EMI2.1
Belgian keyboard Q, S, D, F for the left hand and J, K, L, M for the right hand and not on the second line from above as typing was taught mainly before.
NB: a description of all types of keyboards combined with all typing methods would be superfluous.
We would come to the same conclusion for all these possibilities: that due to the staggered arrangement of the keys of the alphanumeric part common to all keyboards prior to the invention, the movements of the fingers to reach the letters are overwhelmingly diagonal movements.
The movement of the different fingers to reach the alphabetic keys is done: a) Without movement to press the initial position keys of the fingers: Q, S, D, F for the left hand and J, K, L, M for the hand right. b) By parallel diagonal movements in the same direction
EMI2.2
for both hands' - by diagonal movements up and left for both hands to reach the letters of the line above the initial position line of the fingers - A, Z, E, R

initial fingers.
W, X, C, V for the left hand. c) By non-parallel diagonals and in different directions to reach: the T for the left hand and Y for the right hand on the line above the initial position line of the fingers. d) By non-parallel diagonals and in different directions to reach it B for the left hand and N for the right hand on the line below the line of initial position of the fingers. e) By a lateral movement to the right in the initial position line to reach: the G for the left hand
By a lateral movement to the left in the initial position line to reach: the H for the right hand.
3) DIFFERENCE IN THE NUMBER OF ALPHABETIC KEYS FOR BOTH HANDS: the distribution of the letters of the alphabet of current keyboards is not equal for both hands, because the keys of the lower line on the side of the right hand are mainly composed punctuation marks.
4) RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FUNCTION KEYS AND NUMBERS: non-orthogonal correspondence between the numbers of the function keys and the figures of the upper line of the alphanumeric part
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
5) NAVIGATION KEYS: - the navigation keys are located outside (on the right) of the alphanumeric key zone, - they are practically accessible only by the right hand during typing 6) LAYOUT OF MATCHED SYMMETRICAL SIGNS:
EMI4.1
(); <>; / \)>, {})); [])> non-symmetrical placement of these signs with respect to the axis of symmetry passing between the two hands in the initial position.
7) LAYOUT OF CHARACTERS AND SPECIAL SIGNS WITH ANALOGIES: A, à, @; E, é, è, &; U, ù; CC . the keys of these various signs are located in an inconvenient manner for quick and logical use.
(Not easy to easily memorize their location).

DESCRIPTION AND NEW CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE INVENTION
PREAMBLE:
The object of the present invention is: to offer a new arrangement of the keys and new assignments of the characters on these keys so that they can be applied to future standard or ergonomic computer keyboards; - to offer very great ease and speed when learning to type; - to provide better typing comfort compared to keyboards prior to this invention, - to allow easy and rapid cleaning of the spaces between the keys.
1) ARRANGEMENT OF KEYS: - as on some current ergonomic keyboards, there are two distinct alphanumeric blocks for each hand which each have their respective space bar; - unlike all current standard and ergonomic keyboards, the keys of these two alphanumeric blocks are orthogonally aligned with respect to the width of their respective space bar or very slightly offset with respect to this alignment.
- this new layout provides better storage of the location of the keys and characters for all users, especially newbies; - it also allows easier cleaning and maintenance of the spaces between the keys on the keyboard.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
2) LAYOUT OF THE NAVIGATION KEYS: the navigation keys are placed between the two alphanumeric blocks: - to allow word processing users to navigate easily with the cursor without leaving the two alphanumeric blocks and at the same time improve the speed and the performance of typing; - To generate a significant spacing of the two alphanumeric blocks in order to obtain a slight reduction in the breakage of the wrists characteristic during the use of standard keyboards prior to this invention.
3) NUMBER OF ALPHABETIC KEYS FOR BOTH HANDS: equitable distribution of the letters of the alphabet for each hand.
NB: the order of the letters and the type of alphabet can be modified and offer a new equitable distribution so as not to disturb the users accustomed to keyboards of the QWERTY type, the AZERTY type or any other system.
4) MOVEMENTS OF THE DIFFERENT FINGERS IN RELATION TO THE TWO SPACEBARS TO REACH THE ALPHABETICAL KEYS: thanks to the new alignment of the keys and the new equitable distribution of the alphabetical letters for both hands, all movements of the fingers to reach the different letters of the alphabet are made only orthogonally (if the position
Adequate initial of the fingers is respected) compared to the width of the space bar in front of which they are
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
NB: when the initial and adequate position of the fingers is used, two letters are accessible by horizontal orthogonal movements through the indexes.
If the initial position of the fingers is moved to the line above or below the appropriate position line, these two letters will then be accessible by diagonal movements, the other letters will remain accessible by vertical orthogonal movements.
5) ALIGNMENT BETWEEN FUNCTION KEYS AND THE NUMBERS OF THE TOP LINE OF ALPHANUMERIC PAVERS: for a better memorization of the location, the numbers from 1 to
9 of the function keys are aligned with the numbers in the upper line of the two alphanumeric blocks by alignment
EMI7.1
orthogonal claimed: the Fl key corresponds with the 1 key; the F2 key corresponds with the 2 key; the F3 key corresponds with the 3 key the F9 key corresponds with the 9 key.
NB: the F10 key corresponds with the 0 key. The positions of the keys F11 and F12 obviously having no logical correspondences are deduced by extrapolation during the typing.

6) LAYOUT OF MATCHING SYMMETRICAL SIGNS: (); <>; / \)); {}? ; []. a more logical grouping of these signs by placing them on symmetrical keys with respect to the navigation keys: - (is placed on a key in symmetry with the key); - <is placed on a key in symmetry with the key>; - / is placed on a key in symmetry with the \ key; - {is placed on a key in symmetry with the key}; - jazz is placed on a key in symmetry with the key] 7) LAYOUT OF CHARACTERS AND SPECIAL SIGNS WITH ANALOGIES: A, à, @; E, é, &;
U, ù. more logical grouping of these signs and characters by placing them on vertically contiguous keys: - à and @ are located on the key just above the A; - é and & are located on the key just above the E; - ù is located on a key just above the U

9) SPLITTING THE ARROW KEYS: the up, down, left, right direction keys present in the central navigation area are duplicated to preserve the arrangement of the direction keys of standard keyboards.
- the standard layout is perfectly suited for video games and keypad accounting programs near the arrow keys; - the new layout allows much faster access for both hands in word processors.
10) DUPLICATION OF CERTAIN CONTROL KEYS. duplication of some Shift, Ctrl, Ait, Ait command keys
Gr, Backspace with navigation keys to allow greater ease of execution of keyboard shortcuts performed with one hand when the other is busy working with a mouse
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
11) SPLITTING OF THE COMB AT THE SIDE OF THE POINT IN THE NUMERIC KEYPAD: - unlike keyboards prior to this invention, the zero key on the numeric keypad occupies a width equivalent to the keys of the other digits on the numeric keypad;
- the reduction of the width of the zero key makes it possible to insert a doubling of the decimal point in the form of an additional key between the zero and the point, to allow easier writing of decimal numbers with the decimal point, without having to lose time by leaving the numeric keypad to get the comma in the alphanumeric part;
EMI10.1
- in this numeric keypad, there will therefore be the possibility of writing either the comma or the point as punctuation or as a mathematical sign.
NB: there are certain keyboards prior to the invention which contain the comma instead of the period in the numeric keypad, but none offer the comma and the period simultaneously in the numeric keypad.
12) POSITIONING BARRIERS: small barriers slightly exceeding the height of the keys can be inserted between the two alphanumeric keypads and the navigation keys, to allow users to find their way thanks to these and to know if they strike in the alphanumeric area or the navigation area without looking at their keyboard.
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS: FIGURES 1,2 AND 3 ILLUSTRATE: an embodiment or the position of the keys and the assignment of the characters are in accordance with the invention and are studied to apply to future PC keyboards of Belgian type or French.
