<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
En référence à la figure 2, le bloc central de commande 10 renferme l'ensemble des circuits et dispositifs qui vont être activés dès que l'usager aura repoussé la porte P du casier C3. Ce bloc de commande 10 inclut notamment : - une uni té 11 de réception de pièces de monnaie PX, connue en soi, munie d'une fente ou ouverture fl (figure 1) : - une unité centale 12 comprenant des circuits de traitement T et une mémoire M partagée en trois zones de mémoire KO, Ml et M2 ; - un lecteur 13 de piste magnétique, connu en soi, avec une tête de lecture/écriture 13a et une tête d'effacement 13b ;
- un chemin de guidage 15 sur lequel se déplacent des supports portatifs rigides S au moyen de paires de galets 16a, 16b dont l'un au moins est moteur, ce chemin 15 aboutissant d'un côté à une fente f2 (figure 1), et de l'autre côté, en regard d'un premier magasin 20a où sont stockés des supports S et d'un second magasin 20b de réception de supports S, S'invalides ; - un dispositif 25 de commande de verrouillage de pènes 26 associés à chaque porte P des casiers Cl à C8, - un circuit d'initialisation 30 qui initialise l'unité centrale 12 et qui est relié à des contacts 31, à raison de un contact par casier qui est activé lorsque la porte P associée est en position de fermeture ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
XI : contient'un code qui identifie l'application (consigne automatique) et le site d'implanta- tion de la consigne ;
X2 : contient un code d'identification du casier sélectionné (C5 par exemple) ;
X3 : contient le numéro de la colonne où se trouve le casier sélectionné ;
X4 : contient la date (année, mois, jour) ;
X5 : contient l'heure.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
EMI7.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Method for managing the procedures for closing and then opening the locking members which respectively protect access to environments by means of the payment of a sum of money
The present invention relates to a method for managing the procedures for closing and then opening the locking members which respectively protect access to environments such as lockers with an automatic deposit upon payment of a sum of money.
An automatic locker, in particular a locker for hand luggage, which is found in a public place such as a station or an air-station for example, includes a set of individual lockers which can only be closed after payment of a sum of money for a specified period of time. Once the user has stored an object in an open locker and has paid a sum of money by means of coins, the locker is automatically locked and an item is returned to the user by means of which he it will be possible to open or have the locker opened to recover its object, without the possibility of being able to close the locker again unless paying a new sum of money.
In automatic lockers currently in place, after receipt of the payment transaction, a ticket is issued on which an identification number is entered. When the user wants to retrieve his object, he knocks on the keyboard of a central unit which manages several lockers, the identification number written on his ticket and after automatic verification of this number, the locker identified by this number is unlocked.
Such a ticket is not without its inherent drawbacks. Indeed,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
it can be crumpled, the identification number can become more or less legible and such a support can be easily lost.
The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks by proposing improvements which apply in particular to this type of automatic deposit, and it also offers the advantage of exempting the user from having to enter any identification information in order to obtain the opening of the locker which he previously obtained closing.
To this end, the invention proposes a method of the aforementioned type which is characterized in that it consists, after payment of said amount of money, in locking the locker selected by the user, in delivering to the user a support. rigid portable equipped with at least one magnetic or optical recording track on which is written an identification information, to associate with this identification information a variable validation information according to the selected locker and to record this validation information in a memory of a central deposit processing unit, and in that it consists in then obtaining the opening of said locker, in introducing said support into a reader in a central processing unit, in reading the information identification recorded on the support,
to compare it with the validation information prerecorded in the memory and to validate the opening of the identified locker as soon as there is a predetermined agreement between the identification information read and one of the validation information.
According to an important characteristic of the invention, the identification and validation information depends on the type of payment which can be made in cash by means of coins or by bank card such as a credit card.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the case of a cash payment, the identification and validation information is similar, and the identification information is recorded on the track of the support delivered to the user.
In the case of a payment by bank card, the identification information is already specific to the card, and the validation information is associated with this identification information which is read when the user has introduced his bank card. to carry out the payment transaction, the user's card then constituting the medium delivered by the device.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the device contains a stock of supports stacked in a store, and after each use of a support taken from this store and delivered to the user in the case of a cash payment, that -this is normally reinstated in the store at the end of the locker opening procedure, while in the case of a bank card, it is normally returned to the user after opening the locker.
According to an advantage of the invention, the method is fully automatic and it allows either cash or bank card payment.
Other advantages, characteristics and details will emerge from the explanatory description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawings given by way of example and in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view of an automatic set point managed by the process according to the invention, and - Figure 2 is a schematic view of principle, partly in the form of a block diagram, to show the various circuits and devices necessary for the implementation of the process.
This instruction 1 comprises in the example considered here a set of eight compartments C1 to C8 distributed over
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
two rows and four columns, with the interposition of a central control unit 10 which will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 2. Each locker C1 to C8 has a door P open or closed, the state of the door being indicated by two light-emitting diodes D1, D2 for example, one emitting a green light if the locker is open, the other emitting a red light if the locker is closed.
With reference to FIG. 2, the central control unit 10 contains all the circuits and devices which will be activated as soon as the user has pushed back the door P of the locker C3. This control unit 10 includes in particular: a unit 11 for receiving coins PX, known per se, provided with a slot or opening fl (FIG. 1): a central unit 12 comprising processing circuits T and a memory M shared in three memory zones KO, Ml and M2; - A magnetic stripe reader 13, known per se, with a read / write head 13a and an erasure head 13b;
a guide path 15 on which rigid portable supports S move by means of pairs of rollers 16a, 16b of which at least one is motor, this path 15 leading on one side to a slot f2 (FIG. 1), and on the other side, opposite a first magazine 20a where supports S are stored and a second magazine 20b for receiving supports S, becomes invalid; a device 25 for controlling the locking of bolts 26 associated with each door P of the lockers C1 to C8, an initialization circuit 30 which initializes the central unit 12 and which is connected to contacts 31, at the rate of one contact by locker which is activated when the associated door P is in the closed position;
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a bus bl which connects the unit 11 for receiving coins to the central unit 12, an internal bus b2 which connects the processing circuits T and the memory M, and a bus b3 which connects the reader 13, the control device 25 and the initialization circuit 30 to the bus b2 of the central unit 12.
In the example considered here; the supports S stored in the store 20a are each equipped with at least one magnetic recording track.
Suppose that a user wishes to temporarily store an object in one of the lockers C1 to C8.
Any free locker being identified by a green light, the user selects for example the locker C3 (LED Dl on), stores his object and pushes the door P of the locker C3 which activates the associated contact 31. The central unit 12 is initialized and a main program prerecorded in the memory area MO will be executed by the processing circuits T such as a microprocessor to control the procedure for closing the door P of the locker C3 as soon as the payment operation will have been made by the user.
Suppose in a first case that the user pays the sum of money by paying cash by inserting PX coins into the slot fl of the receiving unit 11. Once the sum of money has been paid in full, the process for closing and locking the door P is initiated by the central unit 12.
The reception unit 11 sends an end of payment signal by the bus bl to the central unit 12 which activates the bus 25 by the control device 25 to move the bolt 26 ensuring the blocking of the door P of the locker.
In parallel with the process of closing the door P, the central unit 12 prepares validation information Il by its processing circuits T including 5 fields XI to X5 for example, where:
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
XI: contains a code which identifies the application (automatic locker) and the site for installing the locker;
X2: contains an identification code for the selected locker (C5 for example);
X3: contains the number of the column where the selected bin is located;
X4: contains the date (year, month, day);
X5: contains the time.
Apart from field XI, all other fields are variable. The field XI which is predetermined is prerecorded in the memory area MO, the fields X2 and X3 are determined from the identification of the selected locker and the fields X4 and X5 are determined from a clock H for example. The validation information It is then recorded in the memory zone K1 to constitute a validation file.
A rigid support S is taken from the magazine 20a by means of a movable drive roller 21 and it is conveyed to the reader 13 which, by means of its write / read head 13a, records on the magnetic track of the support S a identification information 12 which in this case is identical to the validation information It transmitted to the reader 13 via the bus b3. Then, the support S is delivered to the user by the slot f2 provided at the entrance of the reader (FIG. 1).
When the user wants to recover his object, he just needs to introduce his support S through the slot f2 and the reader 13 by means of his head 13a reads the identification information 12 recorded on the track of the support S. The information 12 is transmitted by the bus b3 to the central unit 12 and its processing circuits T compares it with the validation file, that is to say with all of the information of
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
EMI7.1
validation It prerecorded in the memory zone Kl. As soon as there is agreement and in this case, similarity between the identification information 12 read from the support S and one of the validation information Il recorded in the memory area Ml, the process of opening the selected locker by fields X2 and X3 is engaged.
In parallel, the identification information recorded on the support S is erased and the latter is sent to the storage magazine 20a. During the opening process, the central unit 12 controls the device 25 which ensures the withdrawal of the bolt 26 associated with the door P. If there is no agreement between the information Il and 12, the support S is considered as invalid and it is directly routed to the store 20b without the initiation of the procedure for opening one of the lockers.
Suppose in a second case that the user pays the sum of money using a credit card type credit card. Once he has stored his object and pushed back the door P of the locker C3, he introduces his payment card S'by the slot f2 and the reader 13 firstly checks the validity of the card, d in a manner known per se, in all card applications. If the test is not satisfied, the card S is for example directly routed to the second store 20b which stores all the invalid cards, and is returned to the user. If the test is satisfied, the process of closing and locking the door P of the locker C3 is initiated in a manner identical to that previously described.
Parallel to the process of closing the door P, the central unit 12 also prepares validation information I which includes 6 fields XO to X5 for example, where the field XO contains the secret code of the payment card previously read during the card validity test. Fields XI to X5 are identical
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
in fields XI to X5 of the preceding validation information II. This validation information 1'1 is recorded in the memory area M2 to constitute a validation file, and the card is returned to the user, the secret code of the card constituting in this case the identification information 1 '2.
When the user wants to recover his object, he just needs to introduce his payment card through the slot f2 and the reader 13 through his head 13a reads the identification information 1'2 (secret code of the card) recorded on one of the magnetic tracks.
The information l'2 is transmitted by the bus b3 to the central unit 12 and its processing circuits T compares it with all of the validation information Il prerecorded in the memory area M2.
The identification information 1'2 is in fact compared with the XO field of each validation information 1'1 and as soon as there is a match, the process of opening the locker identified by the fields X2 and X3 of the validation information the selected 1 is engaged in a manner identical to that described above.
In general, when the user wishes to recover the object stored in a locker after a time longer than that to which the amount of money paid when closing the locker gives entitlement, he must in principle recover his object in contacting an appropriate service. Indeed, in most of the lockers, the lockers are automatically emptied after a predetermined time by an authorized person and the objects are stored in a manual locker. In this case, when the user wants to recover his object, the processing circuits T determine whether the predetermined period of time has been exceeded by taking into account the information contained in the fields X4 and X5 of the validation information.
If this period of time is exceeded, the procedure for opening a
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
locker is inhibited and the support S or S is returned to the user who then contacts the aforementioned service. In this service is provided a support reader to identify the locker which had been selected by the user.
According to variants of the method, the content and the number of fields of each validation and identification information can be modified. The supports S and S'may be equipped with a recording track other than a magnetic track, such as for example an optical track, and in general the supports may also be electronic microcircuit cards (chips), laser, barcode, etc. Finally, the invention has been described using the lockers of an automatic locker as an example, but it can more generally be applied to environments grouped together on the same site and made available to temporary users upon payment of a sum of money.
