Abstract

The invention concerns a handling system for providing flexibility and reliability in the supply of industrial production lines, comprising an automatic guiding system (17) incorporated in one drive and steer wheel (2), and different devices for detecting various stages (10, 28). The guiding system is capable of recognising and following predetermined travel paths (physically represented by a reflecting adhesive strip). The detecting device (10, 28) identifies various stages of the travel path, such as straight lines, intersections and bends. The power-driven carriage is self-contained, and is equipped with a radio transmission system for programming the travel path (12, 13, 14) enabling the use of a learning process.
