4 Brief Description of the Drawings [33] Notwithstanding any other forms which may fall within the scope of the present invention, preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of examples only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: [34] Fig. 1 is a front view of a sheet comprising one assembly for forming three completed main labels in accordance with a first preferred embodiment of the present invention; [35] Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the sheet of Figure 1; [36] Fig. 3 shows removal of one of the month labels from the sheet of Figure 1; [37] Fig. 4 shows attachment of the month label to the main label in the assembly of Figure 1; [38] Fig. 5 shows the completed main label ready for attachment to a vehicle windscreen; and [39] Fig. 6 is a front view of a larger sheet comprising three assemblies for forming three labels each. Description of Embodiments [40] It should be noted in the following description that like or the same reference numerals in different embodiments denote the same or similar features. [41] Figures 1 and 2 show a sheet 10 comprising an assembly for forming three completed main labels 30 (see Figure 5) in accordance with a first preferred embodiment of the present invention. [42] The sheet 10 comprises a backing 12 to which is attached a plurality of adhesive labels. The labels comprise three main labels 14 and a plurality of month labels 16. The month labels 16 comprise three full sets of months of the year, being twelve month labels for each set with a three letter shortened name for each month (JAN, FEB, MAR, APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, DEC). [43] The main labels 14 are disposed adjacent each other in a main label section 18 on the sheet 10. The removable month labels 16 are disposed adjacent each other in a month label section 20 on the sheet 10 below the main label section 18 and to one side thereof. [44] Referring to Figure 5, each main label 14 has a number of features.
5 [45] Section 21 of the main label 14 contains the words "Owner Certified" to indicate that the completed main label 30 was fitted by the vehicle owner. This refers to the fact the label is not an official government issued label. [46] Section 22 contains the title/name of the product "REGISTRATION DUE LABEL" to indicate the purpose of the completed main label 30. The main label 30 provides a quick notification as to when the vehicle registration is due. [47] Section 23 contains the year when the car registration falls due (e.g. 2015, 2016, etc.). This is a printed hard copy of the year and also features a map of Australia. [48] Section 24 contains the words "Rego Due". "Rego" is a colloquial term particularly in Australia and New Zealand for "registration for a motor vehicle". This section is the title of the registration due month area. [49] Section 25 (also shown in Figures 1 and 2) is a clear transparent window which receives one of the month labels 16 thereon to complete the main label 30. [50] Section 26 shows the internet address of the applicant's company where the labels can be purchased so others viewing the vehicle will know where to buy similar labels themselves. [51] Section 27 will display the patent and/or copyright information for the sheet 10. [52] Section 28 contains the words "This is not an official government label", similar to what section 21 indicates. This notification is emphasised twice so people do not get the impression that these labels are a compulsory item or a government issued label. [53] The main label 14 and month labels 16 are printed in reverse orientation on a clear vinyl sheet. That is, the front face 32 of the labels 14 and 16 will have the adhesive (i.e. the front face of the labels 14 and 16 are attached to the backing 12). This allows the labels 14 and 16 to be attached to the inside surface of a vehicle windscreen or window and be viewable from the outside of the vehicle. [54] In use, a user will determine the registration due date of a vehicle by month and year. As shown in Figure 3, the user will then peel off one of the month labels 16 and apply it to the front surface 32 of the clear window section 25 of the main label 14 as shown in Figure 4. This forms the completed main label 30 as shown in Figure 5 having an entire front surface 32 which is adhesive. The competed main label 30 is 6 then attachable to the inside surface of a vehicle windscreen or window and viewable from the outside of the vehicle. [55] The main labels 14 and month labels 16 are printed on a material with allows light to pass therethrough, such that the competed main label 30 remains translucent. This assists in safety in use by not impeding a driver's vision when the competed main label 30 is placed on the car's windshield or side window. [56] The clear window section 25 feature of the main label 14 allows the main label 14 to be used for a full year by sticking the month label 16 on the sticky adhesive side (front surface) of the main label 14. This secures the month label 16 under the main label 14 making it impossible to remove or be lost. [57] Alternatively, for those registering the vehicle for 3 months or 6 months, the month label 16 can be stuck on the rear (non-adhesive) side of the main label, making the month label 16 removable. The main label 14 can thus be reused by changing the month label 16 only. [58] The present invention allows a driver to quickly determine whether the vehicle they are about to drive is registered. This feature is particularly advantageous for owners of multiple vehicles, fleet owners, car sales persons, mechanics, rental car companies, and other automotive professionals. Having the competed main label 30 on a vehicle saves time for a driver in ensuring that the vehicle is properly registered before use. [59] Without the competed main label 30, the driver may have to search within the vehicle for the registration papers, and if not found, search company records or contact another person or the Roads and Traffic Authority to confirm the vehicle registration which leads to significant time delay and waste. If the vehicle is not registered and is driven, substantial police traffic fines apply to the driver together with a loss of driving points. [60] The present invention thus provides a recognizable indicative Registration Due Label which assists fleet owners, owners of many vehicles or drivers of many different vehicles as the present invention provides a quick accurate indication that the particular vehicle is registered. [61] The present invention assists in preventing lapsing of vehicle registrations and ensuring renewals are performed on time and avoid additional fees for missing such 7 renewals. Whilst some people can receive renewal reminders by email or phone SMS, not all drivers are savvy with today's technology. Heavy fines apply for forgetting to renew a vehicle registration. [62] The sheets 10 can be provided for sale in automotive service outlets, online or through mechanical workshops. The label is weatherproof as it is applied within the vehicle. The label is also fully visible from both sides. [63] The product in one embodiment is sold as an enlarged sheet 50 as shown in Figure 6, which comprises three assemblies 10 for forming three main labels 30 each. Each assembly 10 has a different year indicated. [64] The preferred embodiment thus provides the following features and benefits: * One sheet 10 is able to be used for any 12 month period for three cars or three times in a year. * Completed main label is weatherproof. * Main label is quick to fit and easy to use. * Main label can be colour coded for each year. * Economical, when supplied as a kit such as the sheet 50, it can cover the needs for up to 3 cars for 3 consecutive years, equivalent to 9 registrations. * Stops the user overlooking when the registration renewal is due thus avoiding a fine. * Great for families with more than one car. * Can be used in any state and enhances the safety aspects of not inadvertently driving uninsured. Many insurance policies will not cover unregistered vehicles. [65] Whilst preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described, it will be apparent to skilled persons that modifications can be made to the embodiments described. For example, main label can include more than one window or a larger window. The sheet can also include numerals if the user wishes to have the specific due day date of the registration indicated by the main label. [66] In another possible modification, the main label can be made reusable. The main label can include a clear window for the year portion of the label as well. The 8 sheet 10 can then include labels for a number of different years. The main label can also include a second window for the last digit only of the year to be replaceable. The main label can thus have the year printed as "201_" with a window for the last digit being replaceable. [67] In another possible modification, the user replaceable indication means can comprise a month and year combination, for example "JAN 2015", "NOV 2016", etc. The main label portion can have a window to which such indication means can be attached. It is also possible for the due label to comprise only such a label with the month and year combination. The window section can also be opaque as it will be covered by the user selected label portion. [68] The present invention can also have other applications. For example, the invention can be used to indicate when a vehicle or machinery is due for service. The main label graphics can be printed in the proper orientation, with the sticky adhesive side being at the rear surface thereof. Clear windows are then provided in the main label for adding the month and/or year at which the vehicle or machinery is due for service similar to the above. This will provide a due label at which the month and/or year labels are protected, in contrast to current service labels which are handwritten by pen or marker which can smudge. This can be particularly important for critical machinery such as mining equipment.
