Abstract

A xylanase has a molecular weight of approximately 22 kDA, an isoelectric point of approximately 7.7, is stable at 60 C and has an optimal activity pH of between 4.8 and 7. Said xylanase is secreted by bacillus strains and can be purified by concentrating the supernatant found on the culture of these strains, passage through an ion exchange column and then a hydrophobic interaction column. The xylanase obtained can be used in for bleaching paper pulp and for the preparation of xylo-oligosaccharides from vegetal raw materials.
