The invention relates to an endo-prosthesis joint, preferably as a joint replacement for damaged locomotor organs, consisting of two differently designed joint parts which, when assembled, can be pivoted about a common axis.
There are already proposals for endo-prosthetic joints known, the pivotable parts of which are assembled and permanently connected to one another. For special purposes, such joints have also been proposed in which, for easier or even possible insertion into the damaged locomotor organ, the individual joint parts are inserted separately into the bones to be articulated and connected therein in a pivotable manner. In addition, since its seat loosens over time, an endo-prosthetic joint must be easily replaceable, which is usually difficult with known proposals because of the complicated structure of the joint.
In order to prevent premature replacement as a result of wear and tear of the endo-prosthesis joint, it should be as abrasion-resistant as possible and have a high resistance to corrosion, a requirement that known joints of this type often do not meet.
The object is therefore to create an endo-prosthesis joint of the type specified at the outset, which is as cheap as possible to manufacture even under heavy use. Such a joint should be of simple construction so that it can be easily inserted and replaced without difficulty.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that, in an endo-prosthesis joint of the type mentioned at the beginning, the first joint part has a nose and the second joint part has a molded piece that can be rotated about the axis and that engages in a recess in the nose and in this position is fixable.
An advantageous embodiment provides that the shaped piece is arranged between cheeks on the second joint part, which slide on the edge-side claws of the first joint part and a bolt is used to fix the shaped piece, which is inserted into a hole in the first joint part and rests against the nose and the shaped piece . The shaped piece can have the shape of an equilateral polygon, preferably an equilateral triangle, in plan view, the remaining free surface of the shaped piece inserted into the recess and resting with several surfaces with a truncated surface at the front end of the nose in
EMI1.1
to arrange a longitudinal flattening on it, which in the assembled and fixed state of the joint parts lies snugly against the surfaces of the nose and the fitting.
In order to prevent the bolt from being unintentionally released from its anchoring in the bore of the nose, an advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the bolt has a bore arranged transversely to its longitudinal course, which when the bolt is engaged in the bore of one joint part corresponds to an axially extending bore in the nose, with a locking pin or the like carried out through the two axially aligned bores or the like holding the bolt captively in the bore.
Furthermore, it is advantageous to provide shoulders on the second joint part having the cheeks, which abut against corresponding surfaces on the first joint part when this joint part is pivoted and thus limit the pivotability of the joint parts in both directions. This is necessary so that the member equipped with it does not experience overstretching.
Pins, plates, moldings or the like can be attached to the joint parts according to the invention. For the articulated connection of the parts of an elbow prosthesis z. B., pins are advantageously used which terminate in a blunt point, where they preferably taper conically towards their free end. With these pins they can be cemented into the bones of the upper and lower arm and then the two joint parts can be pivotably connected. In this use, the pins are preferably slightly curved with respect to the pivot axis. It is also advantageous that the pins have the shape of a polygon, preferably a trapezoid, in cross section, the base of which is on the outside of the curved pins.
To prevent corrosion, it is advantageous if all or at least parts of the joint according to the invention are made of polymeric plastic.
In the following the invention is illustrated in an exemplary embodiment with reference to the figures of the drawings
EMI1.2
Figures are shown in the diagram.
FIG. 1 shows the individual parts of the endo-prosthesis joint according to the invention in the disassembled state, FIG. 2 shortly before the finished assembly and fixing, and FIG. 3 in the fully assembled state.
The exemplary embodiment deals with an endo-prosthetic joint that can be used in orthopedics to replace an elbow joint.
The endo-prosthetic joint shown consists of the two joint parts-3, 4- of which the

runs with a blunt surface --13-- at the front end of the nose --5--. The circular cheeks --7-- encompass the nose --5-- on their outer flanks, while they roll off correspondingly formed curves on claws - 6 - of the joint part - 3 -.
The molded piece -9-inserted into the recess -8-can be fixed by a bolt -10- which is inserted into a hole -11-of the joint part-3-and with its flat -14- rests on the Surfaces - 12, 13 - are in contact. So that the bolt --10-- does not come out of the hole --11-- unintentionally, a fixing pin - 17 - is pushed through a hole - 15 - at the top of the bolt - -10--, which is at inserted bolt --10-- coaxially with a hole --16-- in the nose --5-- so that the fixing pin --17-- connects the bolt --10-- with the nose so that it cannot be moved.
In order to limit the deflection of the endo-prosthesis joint, paragraphs --18-- are provided on the joint part --4--, which strike against corresponding surfaces --19-- on the joint part --3-- and thus the pivoting range in both directions Mark out.
Pins 1, 2, which have the shape of a trapezoid in cross-section, are attached to each joint part. These pins are bent slightly conically towards the inside of the pivot circle, the inner surface of the pins 1, 2 being narrower than their outwardly facing surface. At their free end, the pins - 1, 2 - are blunt.
The endo-prosthetic joint shown is used as follows:
One pin each - 1, 2 - is cemented into the bones of the upper and lower arm, and then the nose - 5 - is pushed into the molded piece - 9 - so that it closes in the recess - 8 comes lying and the surfaces-12, 13-run in one plane. Now the bolt --10-- is inserted in the direction of the arrow - 11 - as shown in Fig. 2 and fixed by the locking pin --17-- according to the insertion of the arrow in Fig. 2. The endo-prosthesis joint can now, as indicated by the curved arrows in this figure, be pivoted in both directions up to the respective stop, with the appearance at the end of the inner stop as in FIG. 3.
It is easy to see that a large number of variants are possible within the scope of the invention. All of these statements should be included in the scope of protection.
