and their salts. In these and the following structural formulas, R and R ′ independently of one another denote methyl and ethyl, R "denotes hydrogen or methyl, RI and RI independently of one another denote hydrogen or alkyl radicals including 1-5 carbon atoms. The invention also relates to methods and means for controlling parasitic organisms.
The products of the invention are white or slightly colored liquids or low-melting solids which dissolve in solvents such as alcohols, acetone and dimethylformamide and have a low solubility in water. The hydrochlorides of these compounds are water-soluble and water-resistant.
The compounds of the invention are preferably prepared by reacting a suitable aminophenol or its functional derivative with methyl isocyanate or with similar reagents suitable for introducing the methyl carbamate group, as detailed in Austrian Patent No. 232516.
The term "parasiticides" used is intended to mean that the compounds of the invention are extremely suitable for the destruction or control of undesirable insects, silverfish, water vermin, mites, helminthicis, microbes and other vermin in the various stages of development. They have been found to be particularly useful as insecticides in that they have excellent activity against chewing insects, aphids and mites. They are also suitable for combating insects that attack mammals.
The parasiticides of the invention can be used with best success in a variety of household, industrial and agricultural jobs. They are used to combat various water pests, such as B. of silverfish, snails and entomastracans, useful. Typical entomastracans control work involves complete destruction of Daphnia sp., Cyclops sp. and Eubranchius achieved when this water vermin is exposed separately to 4-dimethylamino-3,5-xylyl-methylcarbamates in an aqueous medium for 24 hours at a concentration of 1 part by weight per million parts by weight of medium.
They have also proven useful in keeping pets against pests infesting mammals, such as. B. ticks and lice. They are further combated in warm-blooded animals
