 本発明は、送信装置に関する。
 従来、高速及び大容量伝送の実現に向けて、ミリ波、サブテルツ波(Sub-THz)及びテラヘルツ(THz)等の高周波数帯を用いる無線通信の利用が検討されている。また、サブテルツ波(Sub-THz)のような高周波数帯において、電波が空間的に非対称になる特徴を持つエアリービーム(Airy beam)を用いて干渉を抑制する取り組みも行われている(例えば、特許文献1及び非特許文献1参照)。

 上述した高周波数帯を用いる無線通信では、高周波数帯を利用するためにアップコンバータやダウンコンバータ等の無線装置を構成するRF(Radio Frequency)部品による消費電力の消耗が大きい。さらに、高変調度を持つ変調及び復調を使う場合には、高精度のRF装置が必要となるため、回路が複雑になってしまう。このように従来では、高周波数帯を用いて無線通信を行う通信装置において、消費電力が大きく、かつ、構成が複雑になってしまうという問題があった。
 上記事情に鑑み、本発明は、高周波数帯を用いて無線通信を行う通信装置を簡易な構成で、かつ低消費電力化することができる技術の提供を目的としている。
 本発明の一態様は、電波が空間的に非対称になる性質を持つエアリービームを生成するビーム生成部と、前記ビーム生成部において生成される前記エアリービームの空間分布が異なるように位相パターンを制御することで搬送波の空間変調を行う制御部と、を備える送信装置である。
 本発明により、高周波数帯を用いて無線通信を行う通信装置を簡易な構成で、かつ低消費電力化することが可能となる。

 以下、本発明の一実施形態を、図面を参照しながら説明する。
 図1は、実施形態における通信システム100の構成例を示す図である。通信システム100は、送信装置10と、受信装置20とを備える。送信装置10と受信装置20とは、高周波数帯を利用した無線通信を行う。ここで、高周波数帯とは、例えばミリ波、サブテルツ波(Sub-THz)及びテラヘルツ(THz)等の周波数帯である。
 送信装置10は、高周波数帯を用いて送信対象のデータ(以下「送信データ」という。)を送信する装置である。送信装置10は、エアリービームにより送信データを受信装置20に無線で送信する。エアリービームは、電波が空間的に非対称的になる特徴を持つ。すなわち、エアリービームは、サイドローブが非対称となる特徴を持つ。この特徴を踏まえて、本発明における送信装置10では、エアリービームの電波の分布を用いた変調を行う。
 例えば、送信装置10は、エアリービームの生成に利用するレンズに設定する位相パターンを回転させることで、電波の放射方向が異なるエアリービームを生成することができる。すなわち、送信装置10は、エアリービームの生成に利用するレンズに設定する位相パターンを回転させることで、サイドローブが異なる方向を向いている複数のエアリービームを生成することができる。レンズに設定する位相パターンは、エアリービームを生成することが可能な位相パターンである。これにより、送信装置10は、電波の放射方向が異なるエアリービームを用いて変調が可能になる。レンズに設定する位相パターンを回転させる方法は、物理的にレンズを回転させてもよい。また、レンズが複数の位相を制御できる素子からなり、各素子の位相を、物理的にレンズを回転した場合と同様になるように設定する方法を用いて位相を設定してもよい。
 受信装置20は、送信装置10から送信された電波を受信する。受信装置20は、受信した電波に基づいて信号を復調する。具体的には、受信装置20は、受信した電波(エアリービーム)のメインローブとサイドローブの強度に基づいて、空間的な分布を検出して信号を復調する。
[送信装置10の構成]
 次に送信装置10及び受信装置20の構成について説明する。まず送信装置10の構成について説明する。送信装置10は、搬送波生成部11と、信号生成部12と、制御部13と、ビーム生成部14を備える。
 搬送波生成部11は、搬送波を生成する。搬送波生成部11は、生成した搬送波を電波としてビーム生成部14に出力する。信号生成部12は、送信データを生成する。信号生成部12は、生成した送信データを制御部13及びビーム生成部14に出力する。
 制御部13は、エアリービームを生成するための位相パターンをビーム生成部14に設定する。さらに、制御部13は、エアリービームの空間分布が異なるように、ビーム生成部14に設定した位相パターンを制御することで搬送波の空間変調を行う。具体的には、制御部13は、ビーム生成部14に備えられるレンズの位相パターンを回転させることによって、ビーム生成部14が生成するエアリービームの電波を調整する。エアリービームの電波を調整するとは、エアリービームの電波の放射方向を調整することを意味する。制御部13は、送信データに基づいて、レンズの位相パターンの回転角度を調整する。
 ビーム生成部14は、搬送波生成部11から出力された搬送波と、信号生成部12から出力された送信データとに基づいて、送信データを送信するためのエアリービームを生成する。ビーム生成部14は、位相設定レンズ141と、フーリエレンズ142で構成される。位相設定レンズ141は、位相パターンを回転可能な機構で構成される。ここで位相パターンを回転可能な機構とは、例えばメタサーフェス(Metasurfaces)である。位相設定レンズ141は、制御部13により設定された位相パターンを所定の回転角度で形成する。位相設定レンズ141に設定される位相パターンは、以下の式(1)に基づいて計算される。なお、式(1)におけるβはスケーリングパラメータを表し、iは虚数を表し、k,kはxy座標系を表し、αは定数である。なお、位相設定レンズ141の中心(k,k)=(0,0)である。式(1)における詳細は、非特許文献1に記載されているため説明を省略する。
 フーリエレンズ142は、凸レンズの位相を360でmodulo計算した後の位相パターンが設定される。フーリエレンズ142の位相パターンは予め設定されていてもよい。
 送信装置10では、搬送波生成部11から出力された搬送波は、ビーム生成部14を通過する。ここで、ビーム生成部14は、エアリービームを生成可能に位相パターンが設定されている。制御部13は、ビーム生成部14が備える位相設定レンズ141に設定される位相パターンを、送信データに合わせて回転させることで、送信データの空間変調を実行させる。
[受信装置20の構成]
 次に受信装置20の構成について説明する。受信装置20は、複数の受信部21と、信号復調部22を備える。複数の受信部21は、送信装置10から送信された電波を受信し、受信した電波の強度を検出する。信号復調部22は、各受信部21により検出された電波の強度に基づいて、エアリービームの分布を算出して復調処理を行う。
 図2は、実施形態における複数の受信部21の詳細を示す図である。図2に示すように、各受信部21は、M行N列の並びで配置される。各受信部21は、アンテナ23及び測定部24を備える。アンテナ23は、送信装置10から送信された電波を受信する。測定部24は、受信した電波の強度を検出する。このように、受信装置20では、高精密度を要する位相を検出する必要がなく、強度の検出のみを実施するため装置の簡略化することができる。
 次に送信装置10が行う変調方法について説明する。図3から図6は、実施形態における送信装置10が行う変調方法を説明するための図である。図3には、送信データにおける「00」を変調する場合の位相パターン及び空間分布を示す。図4には、送信データにおける「11」を変調する場合の位相パターン及び空間分布を示す。図5には、送信データにおける「01」を変調する場合の位相パターン及び空間分布を示す。図6には、送信データにおける「10」を変調する場合の位相パターン及び空間分布を示す。
 制御部13は、送信データにおける「00」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンが図3の(A)に示す状態となるように設定する。以下、図3の(A)に示す状態の位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンを基準パターンともいう。基準パターンは、位相パターンを回転させていない状態である。位相設定レンズ141の状態が図3の(A)に示す状態の場合に生成されるエアリービームの電波の分布は図3の(B)のようになる。
 制御部13は、送信データにおける「11」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンが図4の(A)に示す状態となるように設定する。図4の(A)に示す状態は、基準パターンの状態から位相パターンを180度回転させた状態である。これは、位相設定レンズ141を、中心を基準として時計回りで180度回転させた状態である。すなわち、制御部13は、送信データにおける「11」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンを基準パターンの状態から180度回転させる。位相設定レンズ141の状態が図4の(A)に示す状態の場合に生成されるエアリービームの電波の分布は図4の(B)のようになる。
 制御部13は、送信データにおける「01」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンが図5の(A)に示す状態となるように設定する。図5の(A)に示す状態は、基準パターンの状態から位相パターンを45度回転させた状態である。これは、位相設定レンズ141を、中心を基準として時計回りで45度回転させた状態である。すなわち、制御部13は、送信データにおける「01」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンを基準パターンの状態から45度回転させる。位相設定レンズ141の状態が図5の(A)に示す状態の場合に生成されるエアリービームの電波の分布は図5の(B)のようになる。
 制御部13は、送信データにおける「10」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンが図6の(A)に示す状態となるように設定する。図6の(A)に示す状態は、基準パターンの状態から位相パターンを135度回転させた状態である。これは、位相設定レンズ141を、中心を基準として時計回りで135度回転させた状態である。すなわち、制御部13は、送信データにおける「10」を変調する場合、位相設定レンズ141の位相パターンを基準パターンの状態から135度回転させる。位相設定レンズ141の状態が図6の(A)に示す状態の場合に生成されるエアリービームの電波の分布は図6の(B)のようになる。
 図3から図6に示すように、位相設定レンズ141に設定した位相パターンを回転させることで、エアリービームの空間分布が異なる。送信装置10では、この特徴を用いて搬送波の空間変調を行う。なお、上記の変調時の位相パターンの回転角度は一例であり、変調時の位相パターンの向き(位相パターンの回転角度)は上記に限定されない。例えば、図4(A)に示す状態が基準パターンであって送信データにおける「00」を変調する場合に用いられ、図3(A)に示す状態が送信データにおける「11」を変調する場合に用いられてもよい。なお、位相パターンの回転パターンをさらに細かくすることで変調度を上げることもできる。
 以上のように構成された通信システム100によれば、送信装置10が、電波が空間的に非対称になる性質を持つエアリービームを生成するビーム生成部14と、エアリービームの空間分布が異なるように位相パターンを制御することで搬送波の空間変調を行う制御部13と、を備える。具体的には、送信装置10の制御部13は、エアリービームを生成するための位相パターンの回転を制御することで搬送波の空間変調を行う。
 これにより、高周波数帯を用いて無線通信を行う通信装置を簡易な構成で、かつ低消費電力化することが可能になる。具体的には、送信装置10は、エアリービームの電波の分布を用いて変調を行う。これにより、送信装置10は、変調及び変調された信号をアップコンバートする部品をなくすことができる。そのあめ、RF部品を低消費電力化するとともに、従来の装置構成より装置構成を簡単化することができる。
 受信装置20においては、高精密度を要する位相の検出はせずに、簡単にできる強度の検出のみを実施するため、装置の簡単化ができる。このように、通信システム100では、従来の変調器や復調器を使わなくても、エアリービームの空間的な特徴を用いて変復調を行うことで、低消費電力かつ簡単な装置構成で、所望の無線通信ができる。
 次に上述した送信装置10を用いた適用例について説明する。
(適用例1)
 送信装置と受信装置との間の通信経路上に障害物がある場合を考える。高周波数帯では、直進性が強いため送信装置と受信装置との間の通信経路上に障害物がある場合には、送信装置から送信された電波が障害物に遮られる可能性が高い。このような場合、受信装置では、電波をうまく受信できないことも想定される。
 これに対して、本発明における送信装置10では、障害物が存在する方向とは異なる方向にサイドローブが向くようにエアリービームを生成することで障害物を避けて通信が可能になる。例えば、送信装置10は、障害物が存在する方向にサイドローブが向くように位相パターンを固定してエアリービームを生成する。図7及び図8は、適用例1の具体例を示す図である。図7に示すように、障害物Tが、送信装置10と受信装置20との間の通信経路上の基準線BLよりも下に位置している場合、送信装置10は基準線BLよりも下(低い)の方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成しないように位相パターンを回転させることで障害物を避けることができる。すなわち、送信装置10は基準線BLよりも下(低い)の方向にサイドローブが向くエアリービームを生成しないように位相パターンを回転させることで障害物を避けることができる。なお、送信装置10は、生成したエアリービームに乗せる信号自体を従来の変調方式で変調をかける。基準線BLは、送信装置10と受信装置20との位置関係により予め定められていてもよい。
 また、図8に示すように、障害物Tが、送信装置10と受信装置20との間の通信経路上の基準線BLよりも上に位置している場合、送信装置10は基準線BLよりも上(高い)の方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成しないように位相パターンを回転させることで障害物を避けることができる。すなわち、送信装置10は基準線BLよりも上(高い)の方向にサイドローブが向くエアリービームを生成しないように位相パターンを回転させることで障害物を避けることができる。
 なお、障害物Tが、基準線BLよりも上であるか下であるかは、ユーザが視認して決定してもよい。また、図7及び図8では示していないが、障害物Tが、送信装置10と受信装置20との間の通信経路上の左右に位置している場合も想定される。この場合も同様に、送信装置10は障害物が存在する方向とは異なる方向に電波を放射可能なエアリービーム(サイドローブが向くエアリービーム)を生成すればよい。このように、送信装置10は、障害物を避けるように制御することができる。
(適用例2)
 送信装置と受信装置との間の通信を盗聴する盗聴者Uがいる場合を考える。一般的な通信では、送信装置と受信装置との間の通信を一度盗聴されてしまうと継続して盗聴されてしまう可能性がある。これに対して、本発明における送信装置10では、位相パターンを継続的に回転させることで盗聴を回避してセキュアな通信が可能になる。
 図9は、適用例2の具体例を示す図である。図9に示すように、送信装置10が、空間分布P1,P2,P3,P4で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成したとする。例えば、送信装置10は、空間分布P1で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成した後に、位相パターンを回転して空間分布P2で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成する。同様に、送信装置10は、空間分布P2で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成した後に、位相パターンを回転して空間分布P3で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成する。同様に、送信装置10は、空間分布P4で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成した後に、位相パターンを回転して空間分布P4で示される方向に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成する。
 このように、継続的に位相パターンを回転させることで、受信装置20は、継続的に強い電力で送信データを受信することができる。一方で、盗聴者Uでは、送信装置10から送信されるエアリービームの電力が変動するため、盗聴者Uの方向に電波を放射するエアリービーム以外は受信が不可能となる。このように、セキュアな通信が可能になる。
(適用例3)
 上空に位置する受信装置と地上に位置する受信装置のいずれかに送信データを送信する場合を考える。上空に位置する受信装置宛てに送信データを送信した場合、送信データが地上に位置する受信装置に対する干渉信号となってしまうことがある。逆に、地上に位置する受信装置宛てに送信データを送信した場合、送信データが上空に位置する受信装置に対する干渉信号となってしまうこともある。
 これに対して、本発明における送信装置10では、送信データの送信先となる受信装置が位置する方向に電波を放射可能なエアリービームを生成することで干渉を抑制して通信が可能になる。例えば、送信装置10は、送信データの送信先となる受信装置が位置する方向にサイドローブが向くように位相パターンを固定してエアリービームを生成する。図10及び図11は、適用例3の具体例を示す図である。図10及び図11において受信装置20は上空に位置する受信装置(例えば、ドローン等の飛翔体)であり、受信装置30は地上に位置する受信装置である。
 図10に示すように、受信装置20が送信データの送信先となる受信装置である場合、送信装置10は受信装置20が位置する方向(上空)に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成し、受信装置30が位置する方向(地上)に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成しないように位相パターンを回転させる。このように、送信装置10は、受信装置20が位置する方向(上空)にサイドローブが向くエアリービームを生成するように位相パターンを回転させることで、受信装置30への干渉を避けることができる。なお、送信装置10は、生成したエアリービームに乗せる信号自体を従来の変調方式で変調をかける。
 図11に示すように、受信装置30が送信データの送信先となる受信装置である場合、送信装置10は受信装置30が位置する方向(地上)に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成し、受信装置20が位置する方向(上空)に電波を放射するエアリービームを生成しないように位相パターンを回転させる。このように、送信装置10は、受信装置30が位置する方向(地上)にサイドローブが向くエアリービームを生成するように位相パターンを回転させることで、受信装置20への干渉を避けることができる。このように、送信装置10は、空間的な干渉を抑制するように制御することができる。
 上述した実施形態における送信装置10の一部(例えば、制御部13)又は全部をコンピュータで実現するようにしてもよい。その場合、この機能を実現するためのプログラムをコンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体に記録して、この記録媒体に記録されたプログラムをコンピュータシステムに読み込ませ、実行することによって実現してもよい。なお、ここでいう「コンピュータシステム」とは、OS(Operating System)や周辺機器などのハードウェアを含むものとする。
 また、「コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体」とは、フレキシブルディスク、光磁気ディスク、ROM(Read Only Memory)、CD-ROMなどの可搬媒体、コンピュータシステムに内蔵されるハードディスクなどの記憶装置のことをいう。さらに「コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体」とは、インターネットなどのネットワークや電話回線などの通信回線を介してプログラムを送信する場合の通信線のように、短時間の間、動的にプログラムを保持するもの、その場合のサーバやクライアントとなるコンピュータシステム内部の揮発性メモリのように、一定時間プログラムを保持しているものも含んでもよい。また上記のプログラムは、コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体に記録されても良い。コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体とは、例えばフレキシブルディスク、光磁気ディスク、ROM、CD-ROM、半導体記憶装置(例えばSSD:Solid State Drive)等の可搬媒体、コンピュータシステムに内蔵されるハードディスクや半導体記憶装置等の記憶装置である。上記のプログラムは、電気通信回線を介して送信されてもよい。
 以上、この発明の実施形態について図面を参照して詳述してきたが、具体的な構成はこの実施形態に限られるものではなく、この発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲の設計等も含まれる。
 本発明は、高周波数帯を用いた無線通信技術に適用できる。

Claims (4)

  1.  電波が空間的に非対称になる性質を持つエアリービームを生成するビーム生成部と、
     前記ビーム生成部において生成される前記エアリービームの空間分布が異なるように位相パターンを制御することで搬送波の空間変調を行う制御部と、
     を備える送信装置。
  2.  前記制御部は、前記位相パターンの回転を制御することで前記搬送波の空間変調を行う、
     請求項1に記載の送信装置。
  3.  前記ビーム生成部は、前記エアリービームを生成するための複数のレンズで構成され、
     前記制御部は、前記複数のレンズのうち、一部のレンズの位相パターンを送信データに応じて回転させることで前記搬送波の空間変調を行う、
     請求項1又は2に記載の送信装置。
  4.  前記一部のレンズは、メタサーフェス素材で構成される、
