This standard also defines multiple usable channels in each of the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands. This standard also allows a channel to be used in combination with other adjacent channels.

  • a link formed by two channels with a 20 MHz bandwidth uses a 40 MHz bandwidth.
  • AP101 establishes one or more links between devices to communicate data with STA102 and 103.
  • STA102 executes a connection procedure with AP101 to establish a link with AP101.
  • a link is established between the devices.
  • Establishing a link enables a communication device such as an AP or STA to access the wireless medium and communicate data, etc. with the other communication device. For example, if a link using a 160 MHz bandwidth is established between devices, AP101 and STA102 communicate using all or some of the channels that make up that link.
  • a link using a 160 MHz bandwidth can be configured by bundling eight channels with a bandwidth of 20 MHz.
  • STAs such as AP101 and STA102 perform carrier sensing to determine whether or not to transmit. For example, a communication device measures the strength of a signal received on a channel it intends to use for transmission (received signal strength), and if the received signal strength exceeds a predetermined threshold, determines that a signal is present on that channel. Furthermore, the communication device determines the transmission period for transmitting a signal based on information such as the Duration field contained in the signal received on the channel. For example, the communication device stores the period indicated by the Duration field contained in the received signal as a Network Allocation Vector (NAV) within the device. The communication device may treat the stored NAV as a period during which the device will not transmit.
  • NAV Network Allocation Vector
  • the operation of a communication device to set a period during which the device will not transmit based on information such as the Duration field of a received signal is also referred to as setting a NAV. If the communication device determines through carrier sensing that a signal is present on the channel, or if the set NAV period has not expired, the communication device may determine that transmission is not possible. In this case, the channel state may be called a busy state. On the other hand, a state in which no signal is detected on the channel during carrier sense and no NAV is set may be called an idle state. A communication device may determine that transmission is possible when the channel is idle.
  • a communication device may perform a first-stage determination of whether transmission is possible using only the Primary Channel (PCH).
  • the PCH is a channel through which the AP broadcasts a Beacon frame that broadcasts network information.
  • the PCH is one of eight 20 MHz bandwidth channels that make up the 160 MHz bandwidth link, and may be notified to STA102, for example, by a Beacon frame periodically broadcast by AP101. For example, if AP 101 or STAs 102-103 perform carrier sensing on the PCH for a predetermined period and determine that transmission is possible, they may perform a second-stage determination to confirm whether the adjacent channel to be used for channel bonding is idle.
  • a communication device may then perform channel bonding transmission using the channel determined to be possible for transmission in the first stage and other channels determined to be idle in the second stage and included in the same link. For example, they may transmit a 160 MHz-wide PPDU. Furthermore, if a communication device determines that transmission is impossible as a result of carrier sensing on the PCH, it may postpone transmission even if other channels included in the same link are idle.
  • Each channel other than the PCH that constitutes a link may be referred to as a secondary channel (SCH).
  • a secondary channel may also be referred to as a non-primary channel (NPCH).
  • NPCH non-primary channel
  • the previous IEEE 802.11 series standards provided the PCH as a channel used to pre-determine whether transmission is possible and as a channel for transmitting beacons.
  • the channel access mechanism employs a mechanism that, if the PCH is busy, does not attempt transmission even if the channel to be bonded is idle. While this operation is useful in resolving interference issues, the fact that other idle channels (SCHs) are not used when the PCH is busy leads to reduced frequency utilization efficiency. For example, consider a case where another communication device (e.g., a STA or AP belonging to a different wireless network) transmits a frame using a 20 MHz-wide channel corresponding to the PCH of AP 101, STAs 102, and 103. In this case, even if the other seven SCHs are idle, AP 101 and STAs 102-103 determine that the channels are busy and are therefore unable to transmit using those SCHs.
  • another communication device e.g., a STA or AP belonging to a different wireless network
  • AP 101 may properly receive the signal transmitted by STA 102.
  • a PCH when a PCH is being used by another communication device, a function is provided that allows communication between communication devices to be performed using an SCH (or NPCH) included in the same link as the PCH, without using the PCH.
  • SCH or NPCH
  • the AP 101 or STAs 102 and 103 determine that the PCH is busy, they transition to a Secondary Primary Channel (SPCH) to determine whether or not to transmit using the SCH (or NPCH).
  • SPCH Secondary Primary Channel
  • AP101 or STA102, 103 determines that the PCH is being used by another communication device, it then determines whether transmission is possible on the SPCH, and if it determines that transmission is possible, it transmits using one or more SCHs including the SPCH.

  • the Operating Class is an identifier that can uniquely identify the frequency band determined by the country or region in which AP 101 is used.
  • the Channel is an identifier that can uniquely identify each channel included in the frequency band identified by the Operating Class.
  • the AP 101 may indicate the position of the SPCH by storing the relative position of the SPCH on the frequency axis with respect to the PCH in the Element. Also assume that the SCHs (20 MHz bandwidth) are channels 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, and 29, respectively. Description

 無線LAN(Wireless Local Area Network)に関する通信規格として、IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)802.11規格が知られている。

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineersの略である。 当該後継規格で通信する無線フレームをUHR(Ultra High Reliability)PPDUとも呼称する。
なお、AP101やSTA102、103を、Bluetooth(登録商標)、NFC、Bluetooth(登録商標) LE(Low Energy)等の他の通信規格に基づく無線通信をサポートするように構成することもできる。
RAMは、Random Access Memoryの略であり、ROMは、Read Only Memoryの略である。
 制御部202は、例えば、CPUやMPU等のプロセッサ、ASIC(特定用途向け集積回路)、DSP(デジタルシグナルプロセッサ)、FPGA(フィールドプログラマブルゲートアレイ)等により構成される。
更にAP101等の通信装置はNAS(Network Attached Storage)等のネットワークストレージ機能を提供することもできる。
AIFS(Arbitration Inter Frame Space)は、無線信号の送信間隔である。
 <変形例>
