- Electronic devices capable of communication and personal information processing (e.g., mobile terminals, personal digital assistants (PDAs), electronic organizers, smartphones, tablets, wearable electronic devices, and/or personal computers (PCs)) are being released.
- PDAs personal digital assistants
- PCs personal computers
- Electronic devices may be operatively or functionally connected to external electronic devices (e.g., wearable electronic devices, audio output devices, hearing aids, and/or wireless earphones) and may control at least part of the functions of the external electronic devices.
- an electronic device may provide a function desired by a user (e.g., music playback) through a wearable electronic device.

- the electronic device may be connected to the wearable electronic device and may exchange data with the wearable electronic device in relation to the operation and execution of functions of the wearable electronic device. For example, when the electronic device is in communication with the wearable electronic device (e.g., wireless earphones), the electronic device may determine whether the wearable electronic device supports a medical-related function, and if so, may adjust configuration data according to the user using the wearable electronic device.
- An electronic device can communicate with an external electronic device (e.g., earphones) based on a wireless communication method (e.g., BT (Bluetooth) method and/or NFC (Near Field Communication) method), and can at least partially control the external electronic device worn on a part of a user's body (e.g., an ear) to output an audio signal.

For example, if the user is confirmed to have hearing loss, the electronic device can control the external electronic device so that the parameter values of an audio signal output through the external electronic device are adjusted. The more severe the hearing loss, the more likely the electronic device is to adjust the parameter values for the audio signal so that the amplification level of the audio signal increases.

- FIG. 7 is a graph (700) illustrating the degree of hearing loss that can be supported based on an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
- a graph (700) is illustrated in which the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level) is distinguished based on the user's hearing information. It can be understood that the lower the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level), the higher the hearing level (e.g., good hearing). Referring to Fig. 7, the graph (700) is divided into five stages according to the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level), but the present invention is not limited thereto.
- the degree of hearing loss e.g., hearing loss level
- the graph (700) is divided into mild hearing loss (711), moderate hearing loss (712), moderately severe hearing loss (713), severe hearing loss (714), and profound hearing loss (715) according to the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level), and as the hearing loss increases from mild hearing loss (711) to profound hearing loss (715), it may indicate a more severe state of hearing loss (e.g., the hearing loss level is high. The hearing is worse.).
- mild hearing loss (711) may be a symptom of a relatively lower hearing loss level than moderate hearing loss (712).
- the hearing level of mild hearing loss (711) may be a relatively better hearing level than the hearing level of moderate hearing loss (712).
- moderate hearing loss (712) may be a symptom of a relatively lower hearing loss level than moderately severe hearing loss (713).
- the hearing level of moderate hearing loss (712) may be relatively better than that of moderately severe hearing loss (713).
- a lower level of hearing loss may mean a relatively better hearing level.
- mild hearing loss refers to a hearing level that allows one to hear sounds between about 25 dB and about 40 dB (e.g., about 9% to about 15% of the population), which allows one to have everyday conversations, but may have difficulty hearing sounds from a distance, soft sounds, and sounds in noisy places.
- Moderate hearing loss refers to a hearing level that allows one to hear sounds between about 41 dB and about 55 dB (e.g., about 5% to about 9% of the population), which may cause difficulty in hearing normal-loud speech and conversations with people.
- Moderate-severe hearing loss (713) refers to a hearing level that allows one to hear sounds between about 56 dB and about 70 dB (e.g., about 2% to about 5% of the population), which may require visual aids to understand conversations.
- Severe hearing loss (714) is defined as a hearing level that allows one to hear sounds between approximately 71 dB and approximately 90 dB (e.g., approximately 1% to 2% of the population), which may make normal conversation difficult without a hearing aid.
- Profound hearing loss (715) is defined as a hearing level that allows one to hear sounds above approximately 91 dB (e.g., approximately 0.2% of the population), which may make it difficult to understand speech even with a hearing aid.
- moderately severe hearing loss (713), severe hearing loss (714), and profound hearing loss (715) may include hearing loss levels that require specialized hearing devices.
- the electronic device (101) can adjust parameter values for an audio signal based on a hearing range (720) of mild hearing loss (711) and moderate hearing loss (712). For example, in response to a communication connection with an external electronic device (201), the electronic device (101) can obtain user data (e.g., hearing information and hearing loss information) stored in the external electronic device (201), and, based on the obtained user data, can determine the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level) of the user. As another example, when it is impossible to obtain user data from the external electronic device (201), the electronic device (101) can perform a hearing test on the user, and, based on the result data of the hearing test, can determine the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level) of the user.
- user data e.g., hearing information and hearing loss information
- the electronic device (101) can perform a hearing test on the user, and, based on the result data of the hearing test, can determine the degree of hearing loss (e.g., hearing loss level) of the user.
- the electronic device (101) may adjust parameter values for an audio signal in response to a situation in which the user's hearing loss level falls within at least one of mild hearing loss (711) and moderate hearing loss (712). For example, the electronic device (101) may further refine the range for distinguishing the user's hearing loss level. If the hearing range (720) of the mild hearing loss (711) and moderate hearing loss (712) levels is divided into about ten ranges, about ten parameter values corresponding to each range may be set. For example, if the user's hearing information falls within a first range among the about ten ranges, the electronic device (101) may adjust parameter values for the audio signal based on the first parameter value set corresponding to the first range.

- the first external electronic device (801) and the second external electronic device (802) are each illustrated as a pair of wireless audio output devices (e.g., wireless earphones), but are not limited thereto.
