- the pop-up window can also include a selection control allowing the user to choose "agree” or “disagree” to provide personal information to the electronic device.
- users can play and interact with media items within the app, as well as engage in various activities with other users.
- media items are presented on specific pages (such as content presentation pages). If a user comments on a media item, the electronic device presenting that page switches to a comment page for that media item. The device can then present comments about the media item to the user and receive comments from other users through this comment page. Similarly, if a user views the creator's profile page for a media item, the electronic device switches to a user page, displaying the creator's profile page.
- the page used to play the media item will be switched to a functional page (e.g., a comment page or a user profile page), causing a playback interruption. Therefore, while browsing media items, if a user wants to comment on the media item or view the creator's profile, the electronic device needs to switch pages, affecting the continuity of the user's media browsing and impacting the efficiency of the interaction.
- a functional page e.g., a comment page or a user profile page
- an application page is displayed in a display area of an electronic device, the application page including a first set of page elements for launching a set of functional pages.

- the electronic device 110 provides multiple navigation tabs for navigating to various pages, such as “Nearby,” “Following,” “Recommended,” “Home,” “Friends,” etc. These navigation tabs can also have different levels. For example, navigation tabs such as “Home” and “Friends” can be at the first level, while navigation tabs such as “Nearby,” “Following,” and “Recommended” can be at the second level.
- the first-level navigation tabs can, for example, correspond to a set of pages (e.g., a set of homepage pages), and the pages corresponding to the second-level navigation tabs can, for example, be at least one of the pages in the set corresponding to the first-level navigation tabs (e.g., the recommended homepage corresponding to the navigation tab "Recommended” is one of the homepage pages in the set corresponding to the navigation tab "Home").
- a set of pages e.g., a set of homepage pages
- the pages corresponding to the second-level navigation tabs can, for example, be at least one of the pages in the set corresponding to the first-level navigation tabs (e.g., the recommended homepage corresponding to the navigation tab "Recommended" is one of the homepage pages in the set corresponding to the navigation tab "Home").
- Example 200A shown in Figure 2A if electronic device 110 detects a selection operation on the navigation label "Home", it can present the home page of application 120. For example, electronic device 110 can default to presenting a recommended home page (i.e., the page corresponding to the navigation label "Recommended") among multiple home pages. Furthermore, if electronic device 110 detects a selection operation on the navigation label "Follow", it can switch to presenting the followed home page (i.e., the page corresponding to the navigation label "Follow”) among multiple home pages. It should be understood that this is merely exemplary and is not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure.
- the application page can also be presented upon detecting an application launch operation, for example, if the application page is the default page presented when the application is launched. When presented after the application is launched, media items can be presented on the application page.
- An application page is used at least to present media items.
- the electronic device 110 may present media items in any suitable view mode (e.g., single-column view mode, two-column view mode, three-column view mode, etc.) on the application page.
- any suitable view mode e.g., single-column view mode, two-column view mode, three-column view mode, etc.
- the electronic device 110 presents media items in a single-column view mode.
- the application page includes a first group of page elements for launching a set of functional pages.
- application page 210 may include page element 201, page element 202, page element 203, page element 204, and page element 205.
- page elements 201 and 203 can launch functional pages of application 120, and page elements 201 and 203 can be referred to as page elements in the first group of page elements.
- the first group of page elements may also include other page elements.
- page element 205 can also launch functional pages (e.g., for implementing forwarding functions), then the first group of page elements also includes page element 205.
- Electronic device 110 can, in response to receiving an interaction request for a first page element in a first group of page elements, divide the display area into a first region and a second region. For example, electronic device 110 can, in response to receiving a trigger operation for the first page element, determine that an interaction request for the first page element has been received. As shown in Figures 2A and 2B, electronic device 110 can, in response to receiving a trigger operation for page element 203, determine that an interaction request for page element 203 has been received.
- Page element 203 can, for example, be a page element used for commenting on media items.
- electronic device 110 can divide display area 200B into a first area (e.g., the right area in the figure) and a second area (e.g., the left area in the figure).
- Electronic device 110 can display a function page 220 initiated by page element 203 in the first area (function page 220 may be, for example, a comment page for media items), and display an application page 210 (e.g., a video playback page) in the second area.
- the electronic device 110 may divide the display area into a first area and a second area only if the display area has not been divided into a first area and a second area. In this case, if the display area has already been divided, the electronic device 110 may not need to re-divide the display area, which can save computing resources and avoid the display area being divided into too many areas.
- the electronic device 110 may, in response to determining that the first dimension of the display area is greater than the second dimension, divide the first dimension into a first part and a second part, and based on the first part and the second part, divide the display area into a first region and a second region along the second dimension.
- the first dimension and the second dimension can be, for example, the width and height of the display area. As shown in Figure 2B, for display area 200B, since the width of display area 200B is greater than its height, the electronic device 110 can divide the width into a first part and a second part, and along the height, divide the display area into a first region on the right and a second region on the left.
- the electronic device 110 can divide the height into a first part and a second part, and along the width, divide the display area into a first region on the bottom and a second region on the top. Therefore, the display area can be divided based on its dimensions, ensuring the rationality of the division and improving the user experience when browsing application pages and function pages.
- Electronic device 110 may, for example, present a corresponding response in the first area based on a user operation received in the first area.
- a response to the request is displayed in the first function page.
- the request includes at least one of the following: an interaction request for a function page element in the first function page, and a predetermined gesture received in the first area.
- the first functional page may include one or more functional page elements (e.g., page elements for posting comments, collapsing comments, etc.), and the corresponding result page can be displayed in the first area in response to the user clicking on a specific functional page element.
- functional page 220 may, for example, display multiple comments for a media item.
- the multiple comments can be collapsed, in which case functional page 220 may include operation controls 222.
- Electronic device 110 can expand the collapsed multiple comments in response to receiving a trigger operation on operation controls 222. In this way, users can browse comments, post comments, etc., in a separate comment page while watching video playback.
- the call request may include gestures. For example, a user could swipe in the first area to browse individual comments, and so on. Alternatively and/or additionally, assuming a user's homepage is displayed in the first area, a user could click "Follow" to follow the user, and/or click on a post published by the user to view it, and so on.
- the electronic device 110 may also, in response to receiving an input request for input data in the first area, determine a candidate area for displaying keyboard controls based on its own display settings, and display the keyboard controls in the candidate area.
- the function page 220 may also include, for example, an input box 223.
- the electronic device 110 may, in response to receiving a trigger operation on the input box 223, determine that an input request for input data has been received in the first area.
- the electronic device 110 may determine a candidate area for displaying keyboard controls based on its own display settings.
- electronic device 110 can, for example, present Example 200C as shown in FIG2C. As shown in FIG2C, electronic device 110 can determine a candidate area within the entire display area and display keyboard controls 224 within the candidate area. In this way, a soft keyboard can be displayed across the width of the entire display area, supporting users to quickly input text content with both hands.
- electronic device 110 can, for example, present Example 200D as shown in FIG2D. As shown in FIG2D, electronic device 110 can determine a candidate area in the first area and display keyboard controls 225 in the first area. In this way, keyboard controls 225 will not obstruct the playback page, and the user can input text content while watching the complete video screen. Thus, electronic device 110 can display keyboard controls based on display settings, which allows users to conveniently set the way keyboard controls are displayed according to their own preferences, thereby improving the user's input experience.
- the application page may include a second set of page elements for manipulating media items.
- the electronic device 110 may determine that an operation request for manipulating media items has been received in the second area in response to receiving an interaction request for the second set of page elements (e.g., a trigger operation on the second set of page elements).
- the electronic device 110 may also determine that an operation request for manipulating media items has been received in the second area in response to receiving a predetermined gesture in the second area. In this way, dividing the screen into multiple areas does not affect the user's previous operating habits, but rather allows the user to operate media items in the second area according to their previous habits.
- Electronic device 110 can respond to receiving an operation request for operating a media item in the second area and display a response to the operation request in the second area.
- application page 210 may also include page elements 231, 232, 233, and 234, which are the second set of page elements used to control the playback of the media item. It is understood that the second set of page elements may also include any other suitable page elements, and this disclosure does not limit this.
- Electronic device 110 can respond to a trigger operation on page element 231 to play the media item preceding the currently playing media item on application page 210.
- Electronic device 110 can respond to a trigger operation on page element 233 to play the media item following the currently playing media item on application page 210.
- Page element 234 can be, for example, a playback progress bar for a media item, which may include, for example, a progress indicator element 235.
- Electronic device 110 for example, can respond to a drag operation on the progress indicator element 235 to adjust the playback progress of the media item.
- the electronic device 110 may, for example, pause playback of the media item currently being played on the application page 210 in response to receiving a trigger operation on the page element 232. As shown in Figure 2F, in some embodiments, the electronic device 110 may also adjust the display style of the page element 232 in response to the media item being paused.
- the electronic device 110 may also respond to receiving another interaction request for a second page element in the first group of page elements in the second area by displaying a response to the other interaction request in the first area.
- the electronic device 110 may also respond to receiving a trigger operation for page element 201 in example 200B by presenting example 200G and presenting a function page 260 (i.e., user page of user 123) for information about the creator (i.e., user 123) of the media item in the first area (i.e., the right-hand area) of example 200G.
- the display content of the first area can be switched using the second set of page elements in the second area, allowing different functional pages to be displayed in the first area. This improves the efficiency of switching between functional pages.
- the electronic device 110 can switch from presenting function page 220 to presenting function page 260.
- the electronic device 110 can also present a refresh page.
- the electronic device 110 when presenting function page 220, the electronic device 110 can respond to receiving a trigger operation for page element 201 in example 200B and present example 200E.
- the electronic device 110 can present refresh page 250 in the first area of example 200E, and present page element 251 indicating that a function page is being switched in refresh page 250.
- the electronic device 110 can then switch from presenting example 200E to presenting example 200G.
- the function page may further include a close element for closing the function page.
- the electronic device 110 may determine that a close request for closing the function page has been received in response to receiving an interaction request for the close element (e.g., a triggering operation on the close element). Alternatively or additionally, in some embodiments, the electronic device 110 may also determine that a close request for closing the function page has been received in response to receiving a predetermined gesture (e.g., a right swipe) in a first area.
- a predetermined gesture e.g., a right swipe
- Electronic device 110 can stop displaying the first area and only display the application page in the display area in response to receiving a close request for closing the function page.
- the function page 220 of example 200B may also include a close element 221.
- Electronic device 110 can stop displaying the first area and only display the application page in response to receiving a trigger operation on the close element 221.
- the display area is presented as shown in example 200A.
- the application page 210 is shrunk to appear in the second area, and the size of the media items in the application page is also shrunk accordingly.
- the application page 210 expands to fill the first area.
- the shrinking and expanding process of the application page 210 can be displayed dynamically; for example, the electronic device 110 can present the shrinking and expanding process of the application page 210 in the form of animation.
- the electronic device 110 may also, in response to receiving another interaction request for another page element in the first group of page elements that is different from the first page element, redivide the display area to obtain a new first area and a new second area.
- the new first area and the new second area may be the same as or different from the previous first area and the previous second area.
- the first region in response to receiving another interaction request for a second page element in the first group of page elements in the second region, is divided into a first sub-region and a second sub-region.
- the first functional page is displayed in the first sub-region
- the second functional page initiated by the second page element is displayed in the second sub-region.
- FIG. 2H illustrates a schematic diagram 200H of an example display area according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.
- the playback page on the left can be further divided into two sub-areas, such as a first sub-area 271 and a second sub-area 272.
- the display area may include: the playback page, the user homepage page, and the comment page. In this way, corresponding pages can be displayed in multiple areas respectively, thereby facilitating parallel operation by the user.
- the display area in response to receiving an interaction request for a page element used to launch a functional page, can be divided into multiple areas, and different content can be presented in different areas. This allows users to browse media items while ensuring the continuity of media item browsing, thereby improving the efficiency of user interaction on the functional page.
