Description
本開示は、放射線遮蔽システム、飛行体、及び放射線遮蔽方法に関する。
宇宙空間を飛行する宇宙ステーション、人工衛星などの宇宙機には、太陽フレアなどに起因する宇宙放射線が照射される。宇宙放射線から、人体、電子機器などを防護する方法として、非特許文献1、2に開示された技術が提案されている。
非特許文献1には、宇宙機の外壁に物理バリアを設置して宇宙放射線を遮蔽する方法が開示されている。非特許文献2には、宇宙機の外壁に磁界バリアを設置して宇宙放射線の軌道をずらすことにより、宇宙機への宇宙線の照射を回避する方法が開示されている。

しかし、物理バリアを設置する方法では、ある程度の宇宙放射線を遮蔽することができるものの、宇宙放射線と物理バリアを形成する遮蔽材との核反応により、透過力の高い中性子が生成されてしまう。この中性子を遮蔽するためには、より厚みの大きい遮蔽材を用いる必要があり、装置が大規模化し且つ高コスト化するという問題がある。
また、宇宙放射線は運動エネルギーが非常に高く、宇宙放射線に磁場を印加してその軌道を大きく曲げることが難しい。このため、磁界バリアを設置しても宇宙放射線から宇宙機を防護することは難しい。また、強力な磁界を発生させると、その磁界が宇宙機外部における活動に悪影響を及ぼす可能性がある。
本開示は、上記事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、その目的とするところは、簡易な方法で宇宙機に照射される宇宙放射線を遮蔽することが可能な放射線遮蔽システム、飛行体、及び放射線遮蔽方法を提供することにある。
本開示の一態様の放射線遮蔽システムは、宇宙機に飛来する放射線を遮蔽する放射線遮蔽システムであって、飛行体と、前記宇宙機に搭載された制御装置と、を備え、前記飛行体は、飛行駆動源と、前記飛行駆動源の駆動を制御する駆動制御部と、放射線を遮蔽する遮蔽体と、を備え、前記制御装置は、前記宇宙機と太陽との間で、前記宇宙機から所定距離だけ離れた位置を、前記飛行体の停留位置として設定する位置設定部と、前記飛行体が前記停留位置に停留するように、前記駆動制御部に制御指令を出力する制御指令部と、を備える。
本開示の一態様の飛行体は、宇宙機に飛来する放射線を遮蔽する飛行体であって、飛行駆動源と、放射線を遮蔽する遮蔽体と、前記宇宙機と太陽との間で、前記宇宙機から所定距離だけ離れた位置に前記遮蔽体が停留するように、前記飛行駆動源の駆動を制御する駆動制御部とを備える。
本開示の一態様の放射線遮蔽方法は、宇宙機に飛来する放射線を遮蔽する放射線遮蔽方法であって、位置設定部が、前記宇宙機と太陽の間で、前記宇宙機から所定距離だけ離れた位置を飛行体を停留させる位置として設定し、制御指令部が、前記飛行体が前記位置設定部で設定された位置に停留するように、駆動制御部に制御指令を出力する。
本開示によれば、簡易な方法で宇宙機に照射される宇宙放射線を遮蔽することが可能となる。
[第1実施形態の説明]
以下、図面を参照して実施形態について説明する。図1は、第1実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム100の構成を示すブロック図である。図2は、宇宙ステーション、人工衛星などの宇宙機1から飛行体2を発射する様子を模式的に示す説明図である。図3は、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に遮蔽材24を設置して、宇宙放射線s1を遮蔽する様子を示す説明図である。
以下、図面を参照して実施形態について説明する。図1は、第1実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム100の構成を示すブロック図である。図2は、宇宙ステーション、人工衛星などの宇宙機1から飛行体2を発射する様子を模式的に示す説明図である。図3は、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に遮蔽材24を設置して、宇宙放射線s1を遮蔽する様子を示す説明図である。
図2に示すように本実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム100は、宇宙機1に設置されている飛行体2を、太陽Q1の方向に向けて発射する。例えば宇宙機1から数100m程度離れた位置に飛行体2を飛行させ、この位置で飛行体2を停留させることにより、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に遮蔽材24を配置する。遮蔽材24を配置することにより、宇宙機1に到来する宇宙放射線を遮蔽する。宇宙放射線が遮蔽材24に衝突すると、中性子がランダムな方向に放出される。遮蔽材24と宇宙機1との距離を大きく設定することにより、宇宙機1に飛来する中性子を減少させる。
図1に示すように第1実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム100は、宇宙機1に設置される制御装置31と、飛行体2を備えている。
制御装置31は、位置設定部11と、制御指令部12と、通信部13を備えている。
位置設定部11は、飛行体2の停留位置を設定する。飛行体2の停留位置として、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間で、宇宙機1から所定の距離だけ離れた位置を設定する。所定の距離は、例えば数100m(100m以上)である。
制御指令部12は、飛行体2を上記位置設定部11で設定された停留位置に移動させるための制御指令を出力する。
通信部13は、飛行体2との間で通信を行う。通信部13は、制御指令部12から出力される制御指令を、飛行体2に送信する。通信部13は、飛行体2から送信される飛行体2の現在位置情報を受信し、位置設定部11に出力する。
飛行体2は、通信部21と、駆動制御部22と、推進エンジン23(飛行駆動源)と、遮蔽材24を備えている。遮蔽材24は、放射線を遮蔽する遮蔽体の一例である。
通信部21は、宇宙機1に設置されている制御装置31との間で通信を行う。
駆動制御部22は、推進エンジン23の動作を制御する。駆動制御部22は、宇宙機1の制御装置31にて設定された飛行位置に飛行体2が移動し且つ停留するように、推進エンジン23を制御する。
推進エンジン23は、制御装置31に飛行体2の飛行指令が入力された際に、宇宙機1から飛行体2を発射し且つ飛行させる。推進エンジン23は、駆動制御部22の制御により、飛行体2を宇宙機1の周囲360°の任意の方向、任意の距離に移動させ、且つ移動した位置に停留させることができる。なお、本実施形態では、飛行体2を飛行させるための飛行駆動源として推進エンジン23を用いる例について説明するが、モータなどの他の飛行駆動源を用いてもよい。
推進エンジン23は、駆動制御部22の制御により飛行体2を、例えば宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間で、宇宙機1から数100m程度離れた位置に停留するように飛行させる。駆動制御部22は、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との相対位置が変化した場合でも、この相対位置の変化に応じて、飛行体2を移動させて宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に飛行体2が停留するように推進エンジン23を制御する。
遮蔽材24は、例えば一辺が数m~数十m程度の平面形状を成している。遮蔽材24は、例えばタンタル、タングステン、鉛、アルミニウムなどの放射線遮蔽機能を有する材料で構成するとよい。即ち、タンタル、タングステン、鉛、及びアルミニウムのうちの少なくとも一つを有する遮蔽材24を、遮蔽体として使用することができる。
なお、飛行体2は宇宙機1から発射する以外にも、例えば地上から発射して、宇宙機1の周辺の所望位置まで飛行させてもよい。
次に、第1実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム100の動作について説明する。宇宙機1に駐留するユーザ或いは遠隔操作により、制御装置31に飛行体2の発射指令を入力すると、この発射指令は通信部13から飛行体2に送信される。この発射指令は通信部21で受信され、駆動制御部22に出力される。駆動制御部22は、推進エンジン23を制御して、宇宙空間に飛行体2を飛行させる。
制御装置31の位置設定部11は、現在の宇宙機1の位置と、太陽Q1の方向に基づき、飛行体2の停留位置を設定する。
制御指令部12は、飛行体2の現在位置情報を取得し、この現在位置座標と飛行体2の停留位置の情報に基づいて、飛行体2を位置設定部11で設定された停留位置に移動させるための制御指令を出力する。この制御指令は、通信部13から飛行体2の通信部21に送信される。
飛行体2の駆動制御部22は、位置設定部11で設定された停留位置に遮蔽材24が停留するように推進エンジン23を制御する。具体的には、遮蔽材24が宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間で、宇宙機1から所定距離(例えば、数100m)だけ離れた位置に停留するように、推進エンジン23を制御する。即ち、宇宙放射線のうち、太陽フレアに起因して発生する宇宙放射線は、地磁気等の影響がない場所の場合には太陽Q1の方向から飛来する。このため、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に遮蔽材24を設置するのがよい。
その結果、図3に示すように、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に遮蔽材24が位置する。また、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との相対的な位置関係が変化した場合には、この変化に追従して、飛行体2の位置が調整される。
太陽フレアなどに起因して生じる宇宙放射線が遮蔽材24に衝突すると、この衝突により中性子がランダムな方向を向いて発生する。宇宙機1に飛来する中性子数は宇宙機1と遮蔽材24との距離の二乗に反比例して減少する。本実施形態では、宇宙機1と遮蔽材24と間の距離を、数100mとしている。このため、宇宙機1に飛来する中性子は、遮蔽材24を宇宙機1の近傍(例えば、1m程度の距離)に設置した場合と比較して、飛躍的に減少する。
例えば、遮蔽材24を宇宙機1から1mの距離に設置した場合と、100mの距離に設置した場合を比較すると、100mの距離に設置した場合は、1mの距離に設置した場合の約1万分の1まで減少する。従って、宇宙機1を宇宙放射線から防護することが可能となる。
このように本実施形態は、宇宙機1に飛来する放射線(宇宙放射線)を遮蔽する放射線遮蔽システム100であって、飛行体2と、宇宙機1に搭載された制御装置31と、を備える。飛行体2は、推進エンジン23(飛行駆動源)と、推進エンジン23の駆動を制御する駆動制御部22と、放射線を遮蔽する遮蔽材24(遮蔽体)を備える。制御装置31は、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間で、宇宙機1から所定距離だけ離れた位置を、飛行体2の停留位置として設定する位置設定部11と、飛行体2が停留位置に停留するように、駆動制御部22に制御指令を出力する制御指令部12を備える。
本実施形態では、遮蔽材24を搭載した飛行体2を飛行させることにより、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間の、数100m程度の距離に遮蔽材24を停留させる。その結果、宇宙放射線が遮蔽材24に衝突することにより発生する中性子の、宇宙機1への飛来数を低減することができ、宇宙機1を宇宙放射線から保護することができる。また、人体、電子機器などに及ぼす影響を低減することができる。
また、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との相対位置が変化する場合でも、この変化に追従して飛行体2の位置が調整される。このため、宇宙機1に飛来する宇宙放射線を安定的に遮蔽することが可能になる。
[第2実施形態の説明]
次に、第2実施形態について説明する。図4は、第2実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム101の構成を示すブロック図である。図5は、宇宙ステーション、人工衛星などの宇宙機1から飛行体2Aを発射する様子を模式的に示す説明図である。図6は、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に磁界バリア25を設置して、宇宙放射線s1の軌道を変更する様子を示す説明図である。
次に、第2実施形態について説明する。図4は、第2実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム101の構成を示すブロック図である。図5は、宇宙ステーション、人工衛星などの宇宙機1から飛行体2Aを発射する様子を模式的に示す説明図である。図6は、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に磁界バリア25を設置して、宇宙放射線s1の軌道を変更する様子を示す説明図である。
図5に示すように、第2実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム101は、宇宙機1に設置されている飛行体2Aを、太陽Q1の方向に向けて発射する。例えば宇宙機1から数100m程度離れた位置に飛行体2を飛行させ、この位置で飛行体2停留させることにより、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に磁界バリア25を配置する。磁界バリア25を配置することにより、宇宙機1に到来する宇宙放射線の軌道(放射される方向)を変更し、宇宙機1に飛来する宇宙放射線の数を減少させる。
図4に示すように第2実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム101は、宇宙機1に設置される制御装置32と、飛行体2Aを備えている。
制御装置32は、位置設定部11と、制御指令部12と、通信部13を備えている。これらの構成要素は、前述した図1と同一であるので、同一符号を付して構成説明を省略する。
飛行体2Aは、通信部21と、駆動制御部22と、推進エンジン23(飛行駆動源)と、磁界バリア25を備えている。通信部21、駆動制御部22、及び推進エンジン23は、前述した図1と同一であるので、同一符号を付して構成説明を省略する。
磁界バリア25は、例えば一辺が数m~数百m程度の平面形状をなしており、周囲に磁界を発生させる。周囲に磁界を発生させることにより、磁界バリア25に衝突した宇宙放射線、或いは磁界バリア25の近傍を通過した宇宙放射線の軌道を変更し、宇宙機1に飛来する宇宙放射線の個数を低減し、宇宙機1を防護することができる。磁界バリア25として、永久磁石、電磁石、或いは超電導磁石を用いることができる。磁界バリア25は、宇宙放射線を遮蔽する遮蔽体の一例である。
なお、飛行体2は宇宙機1から発射する以外にも、例えば地上から発射して、宇宙機1の周辺の所望位置まで飛行させてもよい。
次に、第2実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム101の動作について説明する。宇宙機1に駐留するユーザ或いは遠隔操作により、制御装置32に飛行体2Aの発射指令を入力すると、この発射指令は通信部13から飛行体2Aに送信される。この発射指令は通信部21で受信され、駆動制御部22に出力される。駆動制御部22は、推進エンジン23を制御して、宇宙空間に飛行体2Aを飛行させる。
制御装置32の位置設定部11は、現在の宇宙機1の位置と、太陽Q1の方向に基づき、飛行体2Aの停留位置を設定する。
制御指令部12は、飛行体2Aの現在位置情報を取得し、この現在位置座標と飛行体2Aの停留位置の情報に基づいて、飛行体2Aを位置設定部11で設定された停留位置に移動させるための制御指令を出力する。この制御指令は、通信部13から飛行体2Aの通信部21に送信される。
飛行体2Aの駆動制御部22は、位置設定部11で設定された停留位置に磁界バリア25が停留するように推進エンジン23を制御する。具体的には磁界バリア25が、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間で、且つ宇宙機1から所定距離(例えば、数100m)だけ離れた位置に停留するように、推進エンジン23を制御する。即ち、宇宙放射線のうち、太陽フレアなどに起因して発生する宇宙放射線は、地磁気等の影響がない場所の場合には、太陽Q1の方向から飛来する。このため、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に磁界バリア25を設置するのがよい。
その結果、図6に示すように、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間に磁界バリア25が位置する。また、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との相対的な位置関係が変化した場合には、この変化に追従して、飛行体2Aの位置が調整される。
太陽フレアなどに起因して生じる宇宙放射線が磁界バリア25に衝突或いは接近すると、磁界バリア25によるローレンツ力が作用して、宇宙放射線の軌道が変更される。図6に示すように、宇宙機1の長手方向の距離を5mとし、磁界バリア25が宇宙機1から100m離れた位置に停留している場合には、宇宙放射線の飛来方向を、1.4°変化させることにより、宇宙機1に宇宙放射線が照射されることを回避できる。
一方、宇宙機1に磁界バリアを設置し、その間隔を1mとした場合(符号P1の位置)において、太陽Q1にて発生する宇宙放射線が宇宙機1に照射されることを回避するためには、宇宙放射線の飛来方向を68.2°変化させる必要がある。即ち、磁界バリア25を宇宙機1から数100m離れた位置に停留させることにより、磁界バリア25において強力な磁界を発生させることなく、宇宙線の飛来方向を変更して、宇宙機1への飛来を防止することが可能になる。また、強力な磁界を発生させる必要がないので、装置構成を簡素化でき、且つ、コストの低減を図ることが可能になる。
また、磁界バリア25が発する磁界が同じである場合には、より高エネルギーの宇宙放射線から、宇宙機1を防護することができる。また、磁界バリア25によって発生する磁界が宇宙機1の外部活動に与える影響を軽減することができる。更に、宇宙放射線と核反応をする物質がなくなるため、中性子を発生させることなく宇宙放射線から宇宙機1を防護することが可能になる。
このように、第2実施形態に係る放射線遮蔽システム101では、遮蔽体として磁界バリア25を用いている。また磁界バリア25が、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との間で、且つ宇宙機1から数100m程度離れた位置に停留するように、推進エンジン23を制御する。このため、磁界バリア25により宇宙放射線の飛来方向を例えば1.4°変更することにより、宇宙機1に飛来する宇宙放射線数を飛躍的に低減することが可能になる。このため、人体、電子機器などに及ぼす影響を低減することができる。
また、宇宙機1と太陽Q1との相対位置が変化する場合でも、この変化に追従して飛行体2Aの位置が調整される。このため、宇宙機1に飛来する宇宙放射線を安定的に遮蔽することが可能になる。
上記説明した本実施形態の制御装置31、32には、図7に示すように例えば、CPU(Central Processing Unit、プロセッサ)901と、メモリ902と、ストレージ903(HDD:Hard Disk Drive、SSD:Solid StateDrive)と、通信装置904と、入力装置905と、出力装置906とを備える汎用的なコンピュータシステムを用いることができる。メモリ902およびストレージ903は、記憶装置である。このコンピュータシステムにおいて、CPU901がメモリ902上にロードされた所定のプログラムを実行することにより、制御装置31、32の各機能が実現される。
なお、制御装置31、32は、1つのコンピュータで実装されてもよく、あるいは複数のコンピュータで実装されても良い。また、制御装置31、32は、コンピュータに実装される仮想マシンであっても良い。
なお、制御装置31、32用のプログラムは、HDD、SSD、USB(Universal Serial Bus)メモリ、CD (Compact Disc)、DVD (Digital Versatile Disc)などのコンピュータ読取り可能な記録媒体に記憶することも、ネットワークを介して配信することもできる。コンピュータ読取り可能な記録媒体は、例えば非一時的な(non-transitory)記録媒体である。
なお、本開示は上記実施形態に限定されるものではなく、その要旨の範囲内で数々の変形が可能である。

飛行体と、前記宇宙機に搭載された制御装置と、を備え、

放射線を遮蔽する遮蔽体と、
を備え、
前記制御装置は、
前記宇宙機と太陽との間で、前記宇宙機から所定距離だけ離れた位置を、前記飛行体の停留位置として設定する位置設定部と、
前記飛行体が前記停留位置に停留するように、前記駆動制御部に制御指令を出力する制御指令部と、
