Abstract
An elevator operation panel (1) comprising: -a front panel (2) comprising holes (20) for a display (10) and buttons (3), the front panel (2) forming a facade of the operation panel (1), -the buttons (3) form a keyboard for operating the elevator, -each of the buttons (3) protrudes from the back side (2b) of the front panel (2) to the front side (2a) of the front panel (2), comprising a touch surface (31) on the front side and a button body (32) on the back side (2b) of the front panel (2), the button body (32) comprises locking means (321) to fasten the buttons (3) to a PCBA (4), the touch surface (31) is movable in relation to the button body (32) and the touch surface (31) is provided with a pin (311) that extends to a contact with the PCBA (4) when the touch surface (31) is pressed, -the PCBA (4) is provided for converting a press of the touch surface (31) to a control signal for operating the elevator, in the back side (2b) of the front panel (2) it is provided positioning/locking clips (22) for positioning and fastening the PCBA (4) to the front panel (2), the PCBA (4) is configured to be connected with an elevator operation system, -a back panel (5) is provided to enclose the operation panel (1).
Description
The present invention relates to an elevator operation panel. Especially the invention relates to an elevator operation panel comprising:
- a front panel comprising holes for a display and buttons, the front panel forming a of the operation panel,
- buttons form a keyboard for operating the elevator.
The present invention relates also to an elevator car, comprising an ele-vator operation panel.
In general it is known an elevator operation panel comprising:
- a front panel comprising holes for a display and buttons, the front panel form-ing a of the operation panel,
- buttons form a keyboard for operating the elevator,
- each of the button protrude from the back side of the front panel to the front side of the front panel, the button comprising a touch surface and a button body, the touch surface is movable in relation to the button body,
- a switch is provided for converting a press of the touch surface to a control signal for operating the elevator.
An object of the invention is to provide an elevator operation panel in which the performance is considerably improved compared to the prior art solu-tions. The performance here is regarded especially in terms of serviceability, that it is easy to swap parts if necessary, to reduce unit price of a part to be swapped, manufacturing costs, etc.
Objects of the invention can be met substantially as is disclosed in the independent claims and in the other claims describing more details of different embodiments of the invention.
According to an embodiment of the invention it is provided an elevator operation panel comprising:
- a front panel comprising holes for a display and buttons, the front panel forming a of the operation panel,
- buttons form a keyboard for operating the elevator,
- each of the button protrude from the back side of the front panel to the front side of the front panel, the button comprising a touch surface on the front side and a button body on the back side of front panel, the button body comprising locking means to fasten the button to a printed circuit board assemby (PCBA) , the touch surface is movable in relation to the button body and the touch surface is provided with a pin that extends to a contact with the PCBA when the touch surface is pressed,
- the PCBA is provided for converting a press of the touch surface to a control signal for operating the elevator, in the back side of the front panel it is provided positioning/locking clips for positioning and fastening the PCBA to the front panel, the PCBA is configured to be connected with an elevator operation system,
- a back panel is provided to enclose the operation panel.
This provides an effect by means of which performance is considerably improved. As the lifetime of an elevator is several decades or even more than a century, the elevator is subject to a regular maintenance. All the wear and tear parts must be replaced periodically and is an advantage, if the replacement can be done as conveniently as possible. For example, components relating to a “ground floor” button are more prone to wear significantly faster than some other buttons, because its frequent use. Also in some elevators, there are intentional misuse or tampering that reduce the service life of the elevator buttons. With the present invention, the operation panel parts are easy to access and replace, in the needed extent, when needed. When the elevator operation panel is released from the elevator car and the back panel is opened, all the wear and tear parts relating to the buttons are readily accessible. As the button body is fastened to
PCBA, just by releasing the locking mechanism, tha button as a whole can be replaced.
According to an embodiment of the invention the PCBA is configured to comprise multiple sub-PCBs so that in one sub-PCB it is provided connection for one or more than one buttons 3, for example, some sub-PCBs for one button 3, some for two buttons 3, and some for three buttons 3. In addition to the previous paragraph, if the PCBA is configured as multiple sub-PCBs, only the relevant sub-PCB needs be replaced if necessary. For example, in a case where only a ground floor button has confronted excessive use of pressing force, also the rel-evant PCBA or sub-PCB may be damaged. In this case it would be advantageus, if only a small number of buttons or sub-PCBs need to be replaced.
Depending on the needed construction, there are two options to configure the buttons and the front panel. In a first option the button body has a circumfer-ential dimension similar to the touch surface and the corresponding hole in the front panel so that the button can be removed from the front side of the front panel. In a second option, the button body has larger circumferential dimension than the touch surface and the corresponding hole in the front panel so that the button is non-removable from the front side of the front panel. Technically these options are quite equal and it is a matter of design choice, but it depends most on the predicted elevator user behaviour which option is recommended. The later option being slightly more tamper resistant.
According to an embodiment the button body locking means is configured to comprise a number of claws to fasten the button to the printed circuit board assemby (PCBA) or sub-PCB. These claws are very easy way to fasten said parts together. One just need to press the button and the PCBA or sub-PCB together and as the claws having a slight wedge shape bend slightly sideways, an edge of the PCBA or sub-PCB passes an edge of the claw and then the claw snaps or returns to its initial position and then the claw is locked. This is very simple and reliable fastening. To open the fastening, one just need to bend the claw sideways toward the edge of the PCBA or sub-PCB and then pull the button, the fastening will be released.
The exemplary embodiments of the invention presented in this patent ap-plication are not to be interpreted to pose limitations to the applicability of the appended claims. The verb "to comprise" is used in this patent application as an open limitation that does not exclude the existence of also unrecited features. The features recited in dependent claims are mutually freely combinable unless otherwise explicitly stated. The novel features which are considered as charac-teristic of the invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims.

Figure 1 depicts schematically a view from a front side of an elevator op-eration panel 1 comprising:
- a front panel 2 comprising holes 20 for a display 10 and buttons 3, the front panel 2 forming a of the operation panel 1,
- buttons 3 form a keyboard for operating the elevator,
- when assembled (In Fig 2 the buttons 3 are not yet assembled) , each of the button 3 protrude from the back side 2b of the front panel 2 to the front side 2a of the front panel 2, the button 3 comprising a touch surface 31 on the front side and a button body 32 on the back side 2b of front panel 2, the button body 32 comprising locking means 321 to fasten the button 3 to a PCBA (not shown in Fig. 1) .
Figure 2 depicts schematically the same as it is presented Fig 1 but a view from a back side of an elevator operation panel 1.

In Figure 3 it is presented a view fron the back side 2b of the front panel 2, the buttons 3 are in their assembled positions. The touch surface 31 is movable in relation to the button body 32 and the back side (corresponding to the front panel back side 2b) of the touch surface 31 is provided with a pin 311 on this back side of the front panel 2 so that the pin 311 extends to a contact with a PCBA (not shown) when the touch surface 31 is pressed.
In Figure 4 it is shown a following step of assembly, when a printed cirquit board assembly (PCBA) is its position. Each button body 32 comprising locking means 321 have been fastened the button 3 to a printed circuit board assemby (PCBA) 4 and as the touch surface 31 is movable in relation to the button body 32 and the touch surface 31 is provided with a pin 311 that extends to a contact with the PCBA 4 when the touch surface 31 is pressed. The PCBA 4 is provided
for converting a press of the touch surface 31 to a control signal for operating the elevator, in the back side 2b of the front panel 2 it is provided positioning/locking clips 22 for positioning and fastening the PCBA 4 to the front panel 2. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 the PCBA 4 is configured to comprise multiple sub-PCBs 41 so that in one sub-PCB 41 it is provided connection for one or more than one buttons 3, for example, some sub-PCBs for one button 3, some for two buttons 3, and some for three buttons 3. As explained earlier in paragraph [0008] , this division depends on several factors not repeated here. In the the embodiment of Fig 4, there are one sub-PCB 41 for each one to three buttons, making the PCBA practical for the application depicted in this embodiment. As can be seen in the Fig 4, the button body locking means or claws 321 fasten the buttons to the sub-PCBs 41.
In Fig 5 it is schematically shown a cross sectional view of the button assembled to the front panel and fastened to a PCBA or sub-PCB. The front panel 2 comprising holes 20 for the button 3, the front panel 2 forming a of the operation panel,
- the button 3 protrude from the back side 2b of the front panel 2 to the front side 2a of the front panel 2, the button 3 comprising a touch surface 31 on the front side and a button body 32 on the back side 2b of front panel 2, the button body 32 comprising locking means 321 to fasten the button 3 to a printed circuit board assemby (PCBA) 4, the touch surface 31 is movable in relation to the button body 32 and the touch surface 31 is provided with a pin 311 that extends to a contact with the PCBA 4 so that the pin forms a closed cirquit between connector 42a, pin 311 and connector 42b when the touch surface 31 is pressed.
In Fig. 5 it is presented an embodiment wherein the button body 32 has larger circumferential dimension than the touch surface 31 and the corresponding hole 20 in the front panel so that the button 3 is non-removable from the front side 2a of the front panel 2. In Fig 5 the surfaces forming the hole 20 are closer to each other than the height (vertical dimension) of the button body 32, therefore the front panel 2 forms a shoulder at the hole 20 that prevents button to be removed from the front side 2a of the front panel.
In Figure 6 the PCBA 4 or sub-PCBs 41 are configured to be connected with an elevator operation system via cables 43, the back side 4b of the front
panel 2 is provided with clips 22 to hold cables 43 in place. The PCBA 4 or sub-PCBs are configured to be connected with an elevator operation system.
In Figure 7 it is still presented an embodiment summarizing the previous Figures where a back panel 5 is provided to enclose the operation panel 1. The font panel 2 back side 2b is assembled the PCBA 4 or sb-PCBs 41 and cables are assebled. A display 10 or some other componens such as processors are ready to be assebled and finally the back panel 5 encloses the operation panel 7.
While the invention has been described herein by way of examples in connection with what are, at present, considered to be the most preferred em-bodiments, it is obvious to the skilled person that, along with the technical pro-gress, the basic idea of the invention can be implemented in many ways. The invention and its embodiments are thus not limited to the examples and samples described above but they may vary within the contents of patent claims and their legal equivalents. The details mentioned in connection with any embodiment above may be used in connection with another embodiment when such combi-nation is technically feasible.

Claims (7)
- An elevator operation panel (1) comprising:- a front panel (2) comprising holes (20) for a display (10) and buttons (3) , the front panel (2) forming aof the operation panel (1) ,- buttons (3) form a keyboard for operating the elevator,- each of the button (3) protrude from the back side (2b) of the front panel (2) to the front side (2a) of the front panel (2) , the button (3) comprising a touch surface (31) on the front side and a button body (32) on the back side (2b) of front panel (2) , the button body (32) comprising locking means (321) to fasten the button (3) to a printed circuit board assembly, PCBA, (4) , the touch surface (31) is movable in relation to the button body (32) and the touch surface (31) is provided with a pin (311) that extends to a contact with the PCBA (4) when the touch surface (31) is pressed,- the PCBA (4) is provided for converting a press of the touch surface (31) to a control signal for operating the elevator, in the back side (2b) of the front panel (2) it is provided positioning/locking clips (22) for positioning and fastening the PCBA (4) to the front panel (2) , the PCBA (4) is configured to be connected with an elevator operation system,- a back panel (5) is provided to enclose the operation panel (1) .
- An elevator operation panel (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the PCBA (4) is configured to comprise multiple sub-PCBs (41) so that in one sub-PCB (41) it is provided connection for connection for one or more than one buttons (3) .
- An elevator operation panel (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the button body (32) has a circumferential dimension similar to the touch surface (31) and the corresponding hole (20) in the front panel (2) so that the button (3) can be removed from the front side (2a) of the front panel (2) .
- An elevator operation panel (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the button body (32) has larger circumferential dimension than the touch surface (31) and the corresponding hole (20) in the front panel so that the button (3) is non-removable from the front side (2a) of the front panel (2) .
- An elevator operation panel (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the button body (32) locking means (321) is configured to comprise a number of claws (321) to fasten the button (3) to the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) (4) or to the sub-PCB (41) .
- An elevator operation panel (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the PCBA (4) or sub-PCBs (41) are configured to be connected with an ele-vator operation system via cables (43) , the back side (2b) of the front panel (2) is provided with clips (22) to hold cables (43) in place.
- An elevator car, comprising an elevator operation panel 1 according to any of the preceeding claims.
