Abstract

The invention relates to a dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) into the dorsal recumbent position. The novelty of the invention is that it has a triangular prism form (10) to be placed between the patient's thighs and legs, and is characterized in that said triangular prism form (10) comprises at least one first surface (11) for supporting the patient's leg, at least a second surface (12) for supporting the patient's thigh, at least one third surface (13) for the dorsal recumbent positioning cushion to be placed on the floor, and at least one bond (20) to connect the dorsal recumbent position cushion to the patient.

Description

DORSAL RECUMBENT POSITION CUSHION
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to a position cushion that helps to bring the patients who are unconscious and who will undergo a urinary catheterization into the dorsal recumbent position.
PRIOR ART
The need for excretion is one of the most basic physiological needs and when it cannot be met by the individual for any reason, the urine accumulated in the bladder must be emptied by the urinary catheterization. The urinary catheterization consists of the successive process steps. The first of these steps is positioning the patient. In female patients, the dorsal recumbent position is needed to visualize the urethral meatus. In female patients, the direct visualization of the urethral meatus after ensuring an appropriate position is very important for successfully advancing the catheter while maintaining sterile conditions.
The Application No. CN213311075U, known in the literature, relates to a urinary probing pad for the bedridden elderly patients. The probing pad comprises a base pad, two knee flexion and hip flexion insertion rails and two hip cushions. To prevent the base pad from slipping, it is attached to the bed with a cable bond and the patient is placed on the guide pad in the position of the knee flexion pad and hip pad.
The different positions (trendelenburg, dorsal recumbent) or tools (towels, pads, etc.) can be used to position the patient during the urinary catheterization. Providing the patient with the appropriate positioning for this procedure is one of the steps that can help to successfully complete the procedure in one go. In some female patients, it is already difficult to insert a urinary catheter due to anatomical differences or other reasons. In such cases, it is necessary to maintain the patient’s position for a longer period of time, which requires a larger number of personnel. A nurse may have to perform this procedure alone due to intense working conditions. In this situation, a single nurse will have to maintain the proper position, ensure sterility and precisely advance the catheter into the bladder. In line with the literature reviewed, although it is clear that it is important and difficult to position the female patients during catheterization and to maintain the position throughout the procedure, no use of any product to assist positioning was found.
As a result, all the above-mentioned problems have made it necessary to realize a novelty in the relevant technical field.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a dorsal recumbent position cushion to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages and bring the new advantages to the relevant technical field.
An object of the invention is to provide a dorsal recumbent position cushion for urinary catheterization in patients, which will improve the ease of the procedure by securely maintaining the position until the end of the procedure, while maintaining the safety of aseptic and sterile conditions.
A further object of the invention is to provide a dorsal recumbent position cushion that will reduce the number of assistants needed for urinary catheterization in patients.
Another object of the invention is to reduce the number of personnel assisting in the urinary catheterization procedure in patients, thereby protecting the privacy of the patient.
Another object of the invention is to ensure that the procedure can be performed successfully in one go and the procedure time can be reduced thanks to a clearer view of the application area.
A further object of the invention is that the dorsal recumbent positioning cushion can prevent urinary tract infections, as the catheter is inserted in one go and in a sterile manner, without any contamination. In order to accomplish all the objects mentioned above and to be revealed from the detailed description below, the present invention relates to a dorsal recumbent position cushion into the dorsal recumbent position. Accordingly, the novelty is that it has a triangular prism form to be placed between the patient's thighs and legs, and is characterized in that said triangular prism form comprises at least one first region for supporting the patient’s leg, at least a second region for supporting the patient’s thigh, at least one third region for the dorsal recumbent positioning cushion to be placed on the floor, and at least one bond to connect the dorsal recumbent position cushion to the patient. Thus, in the urinary catheterization procedures, the catheterization is performed more easily by bringing a patient into a dorsal recumbent position.
Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the bond extends between the fourth surfaces. Thus, the patient’s knee is fixed to the cushion during the dorsal recumbent position.
Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the bond is fixedly attached to one of the fourth surfaces and detachably attached to the other. Thus, the knee is more easily positioned on the dorsal recumbent position cushion.
Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the handle is positioned on the fourth surface. This allows the patient to be brought into the dorsal recumbent position.
Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it is made of a flexible material and the density value of the flexible material is 28 kg/m3. This allows the patient to use the cushion for a longer period of time.
Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one fifth surface between the first surface and the second surface, located at the back of the patient’s knee. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In this detailed description, the subject of the invention is only described with the examples without any limiting effect for a better understanding of the subject.
Fig. 1 shows a representative perspective view of the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) of the invention. Accordingly, the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) of the invention is used in the medical field. The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) allows the patients to be treated in the dorsal recumbent position. The invention is used to bring all men and women into the dorsal recumbent position. It makes easier to bring especially female patients, unconscious patients and overweight patients into position. With the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) of the invention, manpower is reduced and patient privacy is protected. In addition, the dorsal recumbent position is maintained longer.
The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) of the invention has a triangular prism form (10). The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) with its triangular prism form (10) is placed between the patient’s legs and thighs, on the back of the knee. For this, the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) comprises at least a first surface (11 ), at least a second surface (12) and at least a third surface (13). By arranging these surfaces side by side, a triangular prism form (10) is obtained. The triangular prism form (10) comprises at least one each fourth surface (14) positioned opposite each other. The first surface (11) is the region on which the person rests his/her leg. The second surface (12) is the region on which the person rests his/her leg. The third surface (13) is the region on which the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) is placed on the floor. The fourth surfaces (14) house the elements that allow the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) to be connected to the patient.
There is at least one bond (20) to allow the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) to be connected to the patient. Said bond (20) is an extension extending between the opposing fourth surfaces (14). The bond (20) is fixedly attached to one of the fourth surfaces (14) and detachably attached to the other to allow a connection between the patient and the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1). This detachable connection is velcroed in the possible embodiment of the invention. With this embodiment, the patient’s knee region is connected to the patient at the desired tightness with the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1).
The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) has at least one handle (21) for ease of transportation and positioning. There is at least one handle (21 ) positioned on the fourth surface (14). However, there are two handles (21) on the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) in the preferred embodiment of the invention. The handles (21) are positioned opposite each other on the opposite fourth surfaces (14). The handle (21 ) is formed to allow a hand to better control the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) from the outside. For this purpose, the handle (21) is in the form of an extension and is fixedly mounted to the fourth surface (14) from opposite sides. This allows the person administering the treatment to move the patient’s legs closer and further apart as desired.
The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) is made of a flexible material that can maintain its own form. The material of the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) is a hard medical sponge with a density of 28 kg/m3, which does not collapse. There may also be a sheath over the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1). The sheath is washable, anti-friction and biocompatible. The fabric of the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) is liquid impermeable, disinfectable and antibacterial. The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) has specific features to suit the general patient profile. The distance D1 (D1 ) between the fourth surfaces (14) is 20 cm. The distance D2 (D2) of the base length of the fourth surface (14) facing the floor is 35 cm. Between the contacting edges of the first surface (11) and the second surface (12) there is at least one fifth surface (15), essentially at the back of the patient’s knee region. Said fifth surface (15) prevents the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) from causing discomfort due to the build-up on the back of the knee when the patient brings the thighs and legs closer together. On the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1), the distance D3 (D3) between the part of the fourth surface (14) in contact with the floor (third surface) (13) and the fifth surface (15) is in the range of 20-30 cm. The distance D4 (D4) of the fifth surface (15) between the first surface (11) and the second surface (12) is 5 cm. The distance D5 (D5) between the end of the first surface (11 ) in contact with the floor and the end in contact with the fifth surface (15) is in the range of 31-32 cm. The distance D6 (D6) between the end of the second surface (12) in contact with the floor and the end in contact with the fifth surface (15) is in the range of 39-40 cm. There are two dorsal recumbent position cushions (1 ) to be used on both legs of the patient during use.
In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) may be inflatable. This provides ease of storage and transportation. The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) can be inflated with any inflation device. There is at least one hole on any of the surfaces to allow at least one air inlet and outlet to make it inflatable. The hole can be sealed with a plug. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the fifth surface (15) of the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) is at least partially oval in shape. In this way, when the person bends the knee, the compression of the soft tissue at the back of the knee by the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) is prevented and comfort is provided.
The benefits provided by all these embodiments are given below, item by item:
- It can be used to help women who use clean intermittent catheterization at home to ensure positioning when performing self-catheterization.
- In urinary catheterization in female patients, maintaining the position safely until the end of the procedure will increase the ease of the procedure and the safety of aseptic and sterile conditions can be maintained. - The number of assistants needed for urinary catheterization in female patients will be reduced.
- In case the number of personnel assisting in the urinary catheterization procedure in female patients is reduced, the patient’s privacy will be protected.
- Thanks to a clearer view of the application area, the procedure will be performed successfully in one go and the procedure time can be reduced.
- The dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) can prevent urinary tract infections, as the catheter is inserted in one go and in a sterile manner, without any contamination.
The protection scope of the invention is described in the attached claims and cannot be limited to what is explained in this detailed description for the exemplary purposes. It is clear that a person skilled in the art can produce similar embodiments in the light of what is explained above, without deviating from the main theme of the invention.

Claims

1. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1 ) to bring a patient into the dorsal recumbent position, characterized in that it has a triangular prism form (10) to be placed between the patient’s thighs and legs, wherein said triangular prism form (10) comprises at least one first surface (11) for supporting the patient’s leg, at least a second surface (12) for supporting the patient’s thigh, at least one third surface (13) for the dorsal recumbent positioning cushion (1) to be placed on the floor, and at least one bond (20) to connect the dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) to the patient.
2. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that it comprises at least one fourth surface (14) on opposite sides of the triangular prism form (10).
3. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that said bond (20) extends between the fourth surfaces (14).
4. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the bond (20) is fixedly attached to one of the fourth surfaces (14) and detachably attached to the other.
5. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that it comprises at least one handle (21 ).
6. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 5, characterized in that said handle (21) is positioned on the fourth surface (14).
7. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that it is made of a flexible material.

9. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that it comprises at least one fifth surface (15) between the first surface (11 ) and the second surface (12), located at the back of the patient’s knee.
10. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the distance D1 (D1) between the fourth surfaces (14) is 20 cm.
11 . A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the distance D2 (D2) of the fourth surface (14) in contact with the floor is 35 cm.
12. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the distance D3 (D3) between the third surface (13) and the fifth surface (15) is in the range of 20-30 cm.
13. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the distance D4 (D4) of the fifth surface (15) between the first surface (11) and the second surfaces (12) is 5 cm.
14. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the distance D5 (D5) between the end of the first surface (11 ) in contact with the floor and the end in contact with the fifth surface (15) is in the range of 31 -32 cm.
15. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the distance D6 (D6) between the end of the second surface (12) in contact with the floor and the end in contact with the fifth surface (15) is in the range of 39-40 cm.
16. A dorsal recumbent position cushion (1) according to claim 1 , characterized in that it is configured to be inflatable.
