- FIG. 4 is a flowchart showing an example of the procedure and content of the somatosensory control process executed by the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3.
- the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 monitors whether or not the user has participated in the online conference in step S10.
- the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 first receives, in step S11, detection data of the user's breath alcohol concentration detected by the breath sensor 7 via the sensor I/F unit 34 under the control of the mind and body information acquisition processing unit 311, and stores the received detection data in the mind and body information storage unit 331 as information representing the user's mind and body state.
- the breath alcohol concentration detection data may be acquired continuously, or may be acquired periodically at a predetermined time interval for a certain period of time.
- the acquired detection data may also be sampled and stored at a predetermined sampling interval.
- step S12 the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 reads the breath alcohol concentration detection data from the mind and body information storage unit 331 at regular intervals under the control of the VR effect information generation processing unit 312. Then, the control unit 31 searches the VR effect list storage unit 332 for VR effect information corresponding to the read breath alcohol concentration detection data. Then, the control unit 31 passes the searched VR effect information to the avatar control processing unit 314.
- the breath alcohol concentration detection data may be read only once, immediately after starting participation in the conference. However, in case the user continues to consume alcohol during the conference, it is desirable to continue reading the breath alcohol concentration detection data periodically thereafter and update the VR effect information.
- the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 receives VR space data transmitted from the online conference server 5 via the communication I/F unit 35 in step S13 under the control of the VR space data acquisition processing unit 313, and temporarily stores the received VR space data in the VR space data storage unit 333.
- step S14 the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 reads the VR space data from the VR space data storage unit 333 under the control of the avatar control processing unit 314, and recognizes the user's avatar included in the read VR space data. Then, the avatar control processing unit 314 performs a process of reflecting the VR effect information generated by the VR effect information generation processing unit 312 to the recognized avatar.
- Example 1 In the first embodiment, the VR effect is reflected in the arm movements of an avatar.
- FIG. 5 shows an example of the VR effect list used in the first embodiment. That is, the VR effect list storage unit 332 stores a control amount C1 of the avatar's arm in association with a range of multiple preset values of breath alcohol concentration. This control amount C1 causes the avatar to shake its arms as a VR effect, and defines, for example, the amplitude of arm swing per unit time.
- the avatar control processing unit 314 performs video conversion so that the image showing the avatar's arm vibrates according to the control amount C1. For example, if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is less than 0.1, the arm does not shake, but if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is between 0.2 and 0.4, the arm is vibrated at 2 cm per second. Similarly, if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is 0.4 or more, the arm is vibrated even more rapidly at 3 cm per second.
- the avatar control processing unit 314 passes the VR space data including the avatar whose arms have been given trembling as described above to the VR space data output processing unit 315.
- Example 2 In the second embodiment, the VR effect is reflected in the quality of the avatar's voice.
- FIG. 6 shows an example of a VR effect list used in the second embodiment. That is, the VR effect list storage unit 332 stores a control amount C2 for changing the quality of the avatar's voice in association with a plurality of preset values of breath alcohol concentration. This control amount C2 blurs the avatar's voice as a VR effect, and is represented by control information for filter characteristics that change the frequency characteristics of the voice, for example.
- the avatar control processing unit 314 uses filter processing to change the frequency characteristics of the avatar's voice in accordance with the control amount C2, thereby blurring the voice. For example, if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is less than 0.1, the voice is not blurred, but if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is between 0.2 and 0.4, the frequency characteristics of the voice are changed by 60%. Similarly, if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is 0.4 or more, the frequency characteristics of the voice are changed by 90%.
- the avatar control processing unit 314 passes the VR space data including the avatar whose voice quality has been converted as described above to the VR space data output processing unit 315.
- Example 3 In the third embodiment, the VR effect is reflected in the image around the avatar.
- FIG. 7 shows an example of a VR effect list used in Example 3. That is, the VR effect list storage unit 332 stores a control amount C3 for changing the surrounding image of the avatar in association with a plurality of preset values of breath alcohol concentration.
- This control amount C3 applies a sway or rotation to the objects present around the avatar as a VR effect, and is represented by image control information for swaying or rotating the display position of the surrounding image, for example.
- the avatar control processing unit 314 performs image processing to impart shaking or distortion to objects around the avatar in the VR space data in accordance with the control amount C3, thereby making it appear as if the scenery the avatar is seeing is shaking or spinning due to intoxication. For example, if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is less than 0.1, the surrounding image is not changed, but if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is between 0.2 and 0.4, the display position of the surrounding image is changed by 60%. Similarly, if the breath alcohol concentration [mg/L] is 0.4 or more, the display position of the surrounding image is changed by 90%.
- the avatar control processing unit 314 passes the VR space data in which the objects around the avatar have been swayed or rotated as described above to the VR space data output processing unit 315.
- step S15 the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 receives VR space data in which the user's avatar is controlled from the avatar control processing unit 314 under the control of the VR space data output processing unit 315, and outputs the received VR space data from the input/output I/F unit 36 to the HMD 1.
- VR space data including an avatar that reflects a VR effect that represents a drunken state according to the alcohol concentration in the user's breath is displayed on the HMD1. Therefore, while immersed in the VR space displayed on the HMD1, the user can perceive their own state in the real space from the appearance of their own avatar that exists in this VR space data.
- step S16 the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 determines whether the user has left the conference. If the user wishes to continue participating in the conference, the control unit 31 returns to step S11 and repeats the series of processes from acquiring mind-body information to reflecting the VR effect information on the avatar and displaying the VR space data after reflection. On the other hand, if the conference ends or the user leaves midway through, the process ends and the system returns to a standby state.
- detection data of the breath alcohol concentration of a user participating in an online conference using a VR space is acquired from the breath sensor 7, and VR effect information corresponding to the acquired breath alcohol concentration is generated based on the VR effect list storage unit 332. Then, a process is performed in which the VR effect information is reflected in the user's avatar contained in the VR space data received from the online conference server 5, and the VR space data including the avatar after this reflection process is output to the HMD 1 for display.
- the user can perceive his or her own state of intoxication in the real space from the appearance of his or her avatar in the VR space data. In other words, it is possible for the user to recognize his or her own somatic sensations in the real space without losing the sense of immersion in the VR space.
- VR effect information representing a walking style, such as a staggering gait, may be generated and reflected in the avatar, allowing the user to perceive the degree of intoxication.
- the user's level of fatigue or alertness can be estimated from biometric information obtained by a biosensor.
- the level of fatigue can be estimated from the heart rate and facial color obtained from a heart rate sensor or a facial image captured by a camera.
- the level of alertness is determined by arranging two types of sensors in the HMD1, a photoelectric pulse wave sensor and a thermopile, which measure the photoelectric pulse wave and respiratory waveform.
- a thermopile is arranged to determine the temperature difference between inhaled and exhaled air.
- the photoelectric pulse wave is measured using a photoelectric pulse wave sensor, and the peak interval RRI of the pulse wave is calculated.
- the level of alertness can be estimated by evaluating the pattern of heart rate variability.
- the method for measuring the level of alertness is introduced, for example, at the following website: ⁇ URL: https://www.itmedia.co.jp/news/articles/2001/24/news030.html>.
- the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 acquires the bio-information output from the bio-sensor in step S11 under the control of the mind and body information acquisition processing unit 311. Then, in step S12, under the control of the VR effect information generation processing unit 312, it estimates the degree of fatigue or alertness from the acquired bio-information, and reads out the corresponding VR effect information from the VR effect list storage unit 332 based on the estimated degree of fatigue or alertness.
- the VR effect list storage unit 332 is registered with an estimated value % of fatigue or alertness, and the video control amount for changing the image of the avatar's face or body, the audio control amount, or the control amount of the display range or display state of surrounding objects to indicate a change in field of view. Then, based on the estimated value of fatigue or alertness, the corresponding video control amount, audio control amount, or control amount of the display range or display state of surrounding objects is read from the VR effect list storage unit 332, and the read control amount is used as VR effect information.
- the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 then performs processing in step S14 under the control of the avatar control processing unit 314 to reflect the VR effect information on the avatar included in the VR space data acquired by the VR space data acquisition processing unit 313. Then, in step S15, under the control of the VR space data output processing unit 315, the VR space data in which the VR effect information is reflected is output from the input/output I/F unit 36 to the HMD 1.
- HMD1 thus displays VR space data in which the user's level of fatigue or alertness is reflected in the avatar, and while immersed in the VR space, the user is able to perceive their own level of fatigue or alertness in the real space through the avatar in the VR space.
- the user's drunken state is reflected in the avatar.
- a measurement value of the amount of the non-alcoholic beverage consumed is acquired, and VR effect information representing the drunken state corresponding to the acquired amount of the non-alcoholic beverage is generated and reflected in the avatar, thereby giving the user the illusion of being drunk.
- the functions of the somatosensory control device 3 and the processing procedures therefor are basically the same as those shown in Figures 3 and 4, so the description will be given using Figures 3 and 4.
- the amount of non-alcoholic beverage consumed by the user can be measured, for example, by attaching a weight sensor to the cup itself, the coaster, or the mat, and obtaining the weight measurement value output from this weight sensor as information representing the amount consumed.
- the control unit 31 of the somatosensory control device 3 acquires the measurement data output from the weight sensor in step S11 under the control of the mind and body information acquisition processing unit 311. Then, in step S12, under the control of the VR effect information generation processing unit 312, the amount of non-alcoholic beverage consumed by the user is calculated from the acquired measurement data, and VR effect information for creating the illusion of a drunken state is read from the VR effect list storage unit 332 based on the calculated amount of non-alcoholic beverage consumed.
- the VR effect list storage unit 332 registers, in association with the amount of drink in mL (or mg), a video control amount that changes the avatar's face or body to an intoxicated state, a sound control amount, or a control amount for imparting swaying or rotation to surrounding objects. Then, based on the measurement value of the non-alcoholic beverage, the VR effect information generation processing unit 312 reads out the corresponding video control amount, sound control amount, or control amount for the display state of the surrounding objects from the VR effect list storage unit 332, and treats the read out control amount as VR effect information.
- HMD1 thus displays VR space data that reflects the avatar's state of intoxication corresponding to the amount of non-alcoholic beverages consumed by the user, making it possible to give the user the illusion of being intoxicated using the avatar in the VR space.
- the body temperature of a user immersed in a VR space may be measured, for example, by a temperature sensor provided in the HMD 1, and the user may be made to perceive the level of fever of the user using an avatar based on the measured value. Any other types of mental and physical state of the user to be acquired, or any control content for reflecting the VR effect on the avatar may be used.
- this invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment as it is, and in the implementation stage, the components can be modified and embodied without departing from the gist of the invention.
- various inventions can be formed by appropriately combining multiple components disclosed in the above-described embodiment. For example, some components may be deleted from all the components shown in the embodiment. Furthermore, components from different embodiments may be appropriately combined.

Abstract
Description

なお、上記処理部311~315の一部または全部は、LSI(Large Scale Integration)やASIC(Application Specific Integrated Circuit)等のハードウェアを用いて実現されてもよい。

<URL: https://www.itmedia.co.jp/news/articles/2001/24/news030.html>。
