Description

エアバッグ装置
 本発明は車両に搭載されるエアバッグ装置に関し、特に、エアバッグの展開形状を適切に制御可能なエアバッグ装置に関するものである。
 車両の事故発生時に乗員を保護するために1つまたは複数のエアバッグ装置を車両に設けることは周知である。エアバッグ装置としては、例えば、ステアリングホイールの中心付近から展開して運転者を保護する、いわゆるドライバエアバッグ装置や、窓の内側で下方向に展開して車両横方向の衝撃や横転、転覆事故時に乗員を保護するカーテンエアバッグ装置や、車両横方向の衝撃時に乗員を保護すべく乗員の側部(シートの側部)で展開するサイドエアバッグ装置などの様々な形態がある。
 エアバッグ装置においては、展開するエアバッグの形状を所望の形状に制御する場合がある。特許文献1に記載のエアバッグ装置では、テザーを用いてエアバッグの展開形状を制御している。しかしながら、エアバッグの表面にテザーが橋渡しされる形態であるため、テザーが乗員に直接干渉することが懸念される。

 本発明は上記のような状況に鑑みてなされたものであり、エアバッグの展開形状を適切に制御可能なエアバッグ装置を提供することを目的とする。
 上記課題を解決するために、本発明は、車両に搭載されるエアバッグ装置であって、膨張展開して乗員を拘束するエアバッグと;前記エアバッグの展開方向に延び、当該エアバッグの展開形状を規制するテザーと;前記テザーを摺動可能な状態で、前記エアバッグの表面に沿うように保持する保持部と;を備える。
 ここで、「展開方向」は、例えば、サイドエアバッグでは概ね前方となり、カーテンエアバッグでは概ね下方となる。
 本発明においては、テザーをエアバッグの表面に沿って摺動させる構造であるため、エアバッグ表面からテザーがブリッジ状に張り出すことがなく、乗員との不要な干渉を避けることができる。また、エアバッグの展開形状を確実、精密に制御することが可能となる。
 前記テザーは、前記エアバッグの展開方向の先側のシート前後方向における前方の表面に連結される第1の端部と、当該第1の端部の前記エアバッグの前記シート前後方向における前記前方とは反対側の後方に第2の端部とを有する構造とすることができる。
 前記第2の端部は、シートフレーム等の車両の構造部に連結することができる。なお、テザーの第2の端部(後端)は、シートフレーム以外の構造部に連結することもでき、あるいは、エアバッグの後端付近に直接連結することも可能である。
 前記テザーは、長手方向の途中に屈曲部を有することができる。テザーに屈曲部を設けることにより、当該屈曲部をエアバッグが屈曲する時の起点とすることができ、エアバッグを確実に屈曲させた状態で展開させることが可能となる。
 前記保持部は、前記テザーの長手方向に直交する方向の断面をループ状に成形することができる。
 前記保持部を形成する保持部材は、前記エアバッグの表面に連結された長尺帯状の部材とすることができる。テザーを長尺帯状の保持部材で保持することで、テザーが当該保持部材の内部を摺動することになり、当該保持部材の外側に張り出す部分を必要最小限にできる。また、テザーの位置が所望の(狙った)位置からズレないため、テザーの張力を利用したエアバッグの展開形状制御が確実なものとなる。
 前記テザーは、長手方向の途中に屈曲部を有し、前記保持部材は、前記テザーの屈曲部に対応する屈曲領域を有する構造とすることができる。
 前記保持部材は、前記エアバッグの表面に所定の間隔で連結された複数のループ状の部材とすることができる。例えば、ズボンの「ベルト通し」のように配置、形成することができる。
 前記エアバッグは、その折りたたみの際に、前記保持部の前記屈曲部よりも前記第1の端部側の部分を前記第2の端部側の方向に手繰り寄せて、前記エアバッグに皺を形成した圧縮部を有する構成とすることができる。
 ここで、「皺」とは、蛇腹折りのような規則的な折畳みの形態だけではなく、無造作に縮める(シュリンクさせる)ような形態を含むものである。エアバッグが皺を有するように圧縮させて収容状態とすることにより、当該エアバッグの圧縮工程が簡素化(時間短縮)される。
 前記エアバッグは、前記車両用シートの上端付近から展開することで乗員の頭部周辺を保護する構成とすることができる。
 前記エアバッグは、乗員頭部の一方の側部を保護する第1チャンバと;前記第1チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方を保護する第2チャンバと;前記第2チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方から他方の側部に渡って展開する第3チャンバと;前記第3チャンバと繋がり、乗員頭部の他方の側部で展開する第4チャンバと;を備えることができる。
 このような構成を採用することにより、エアバッグによって乗員の頭部を一側方、前方、他側方というように包囲するため、シートの位置や、リクライニング角度等に関係なく、乗員の頭部を確実に拘束することが可能となる。すなわち、エアバッグが展開する際に、ステアリングホイールやインストルメントパネル等を反力面とする必要が無く、シートの位置等に依存せずに安定した性能を発揮できる。
 前記エアバッグは、乗員の一方の側部を保護する第1チャンバと;前記第1チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方を保護する第2チャンバと;前記第2チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方から他方の側部に渡って展開する第3チャンバと;前記第3チャンバと繋がり、乗員の他方の側部で展開する第4チャンバと;を備える。そして、前記テザーの第1の端部は前記第2チャンバに連結され、第2の端部は前記第1チャンバに連結される構造とすることができる。
 前記保持部は、当該保持部の長手方向の途中であり、前記第2チャンバの中間部分又は後方部分に屈曲部を有する構造とすることができる。第2チャンバを途中で屈曲させることにより、当該第2チャンバを確実に乗員の頭部前面に配置させることが可能となる。
 前記第1チャンバと前記第2チャンバとは、2枚の基布を貼り合わせることにより一体に成形され、前記テザーの前記第1の端部は、前記第2チャンバの前端付近に連結され、前記第2チャンバは、前記屈曲部付近から乗員の頭部に近づく方向に屈曲するように構成することができる。
 前記第1チャンバは、上方に向かって最初に展開する上部方向部と、当該上部方向部に繋がり、前方に向かって展開する前方方向部とを含むことができる。

 以下、 本発明に係るエアバッグ装置について、添付図面に基づいて説明する。なお、以下の説明において、乗員が正規の姿勢で座席に着座した際に、乗員が向いている方向を「前方」、その反対方向を「後方」と称し、座標の軸を示すときは「前後方向」と言う。また、乗員が正規の姿勢で座席に着座した際に、乗員の右側を「右方向」、乗員の左側を「左方向」と称し、座標の軸を示すときは「左右方向」と言う。また、乗員が正規の姿勢で座席に着座した際に、乗員の頭部方向を「上方」、乗員の腰部方向を「下方」と称し、座標の軸を示すときは「上下方向」と言う。また、展開したエアバッグにおいて、乗員(頭部)に面する側を内側、その反対側を外側とする。
 図1は、本発明に係る乗員保護装置に使用される車両用シートの主に外観形状を示す斜視図であり、エアバッグ装置(20)の図示は省略する。図2は、図1に示す車両用シートの骨組みとして機能する内部構造体(シートフレーム)を示す斜視図であり、ここでも、エアバッグ装置(20)の図示は省略する。図3は、本発明に係る乗員保護装置の概略側面図であり、車両用シートのドアに遠い側面(ファーサイド)にエアバッグ装置20が収容された状態を車幅方向の外側から観察した様子を示す。
 本発明が適用可能な車両シートは、部位として観たときには、図1及び図2に示すように、乗員が着座する部分のシートクッション2と;背もたれを形成するシートバック1と、シートバック1の上端に連結されるヘッドレスト3とによって構成されている。
 図1に示すように、本実施例に係るエアバッグ装置20は、車両用シートのサイドサポート部(ファーサイド側)に収容される。符号21は、エアバッグ装置20を構成するエアバッグの一部(頭部保護クッション31)を収容するハウジングであり、シートバック1の上部であり、ヘッドレスト3の右側部に固定されている。ハウジング21は、エアバッグ装置20が作動してエアバッグ30が展開した時に、前方又は斜め前方が開裂するようになっている。
 なお、頭部保護クッション31(図3参照)は、別体として構成されるハウジング21に収容する場合の他、シートバック1の上端付近の内部に収容することもできる。特に、ヘッドレスト3がシートバック1に一体化された形状の車両用シートの場合には、頭部保護クッション31の収容空間を柔軟に設定することができる。
 図2に示すように、シートバック1の内部にはシートの骨格を形成するシートバックフレーム1fが設けられ、その表面及び周囲にはウレタン発泡材等からなるパッドが設けられ、当該パッドの表面は皮革、ファブリック等の表皮によって覆われている。シートクッション2の底側には着座フレーム2fが配置され、その上面及び周囲にはウレタン発泡材等からなるパッドが設けられ、当該パッドの表面は皮革、ファブリック等の表皮によって覆われている。着座フレーム2fとシートバックフレーム1fとは、リクライニング機構4を介して連結されている。
 シートバックフレーム1fは、図2に示すように、左右に離間して配置され上下方向に延在するシートフレーム10と、このシートフレーム10の上端部を連結する上部フレームと、下端部を連結する下部フレームとにより枠状に構成されている。ヘッドレストフレームの外側にクッション部材を設けることでヘッドレスト3が構成される。
 図3は、本発明に係る乗員保護装置の概略側面図であり、車両用シートのドアに遠い側面(ファーサイド)にエアバッグ装置20が収容された状態を車幅方向の外側から観察した様子を示す。
 図3に示すように、エアバッグ装置20は、車両シートのシートバック1の右側上端付近に収容される。エアバッグ30は、後述するように、乗員の頭部を保護する頭部保護クッション31と、乗員の胴体側部を保護する体側部保護クッション40とを備えている。なお、本実施例においては、エアバッグ装置20を所謂ファーサイドに配置するが、ニアサイドに配置することも可能である。
 図4は、本発明の実施例に係るエアバッグ装置20においてエアバッグ(30)が展開した様子を模式的に示す上面図である。図5は、エアバッグ(30)が展開した様子を示す上面斜視図(俯瞰図)である。図6は、エアバッグ(30)が展開した様子を示す正面斜視図である。なお、図4及び図5において、破線は縫製ラインを示すものとする。
 主に図4に示すように、本実施例に係るエアバッグ装置20は、膨張ガスを発生するインフレータ160(図6,8参照)と;車両用シートの右側上端付近から展開することで乗員Pの頭部周辺を保護するエアバッグ30と:を備える。エアバッグ30は、乗員Pの頭部の一方の側部を保護する第1チャンバ32と;第1チャンバ32に繋がり、乗員Pの頭部前方を保護する第2チャンバ34と;第2チャンバ34に繋がり、乗員Pの頭部前方から他方の側部に渡って展開する第3チャンバ36と;第3チャンバ36と繋がり、乗員Pの頭部の他方の側部で展開する第4チャンバ38とを備えている。
 エアバッグ装置20は、更に、エアバッグ30の展開方向(前方)に延び、当該エアバッグ30の展開形状を規制するテザー200と;当該テザー200を摺動可能な状態で、エアバッグ30の表面に沿うように保持する保持部材202とを備えている。テザー200及び保持部材202の詳細については、後に図7を参照して説明する。
 テザー200は、第2チャンバ34の内側表面に連結された第1の端部201aと、当該第1の端部201aと反対側の第2の端部201bとを有する。そして、 第2の端部201bは、シートフレームに連結される。なお、テザー200の第2の端部201b(後端)は、シートフレーム以外の構造部に連結することもでき、あるいは、第1チャンバ32の後端付近に直接連結することも可能である。
 第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34とは、1つのチャンバとして一体に成形されている。第2チャンバ34の後方付近が乗員Pの頭部に近づく方向に屈曲しており、これによって、第2チャンバ34が確実に乗員頭部の前方で展開することが可能となる。
 第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34とを渡すようにテザー200が連結されており、当該エアバッグ30の展開時にテザー200の張力によって第2チャンバ34を屈曲させている。なお、テザー200は、一端が第2チャンバ34の内側表面に連結されるが、他端は、第1チャンバ32の表面あるいは、シートフレーム等の他の部材に連結させることもできる。
 図4~図6に示されているように、第1チャンバ32の下方には、サイドチャンバ40が連結されている。サイドチャンバ40は、乗員Pの少なくとも右側肩部付近を拘束するものであるが、腰部まで拘束するような構成でも良い。保護すべき乗員Pに加わる力の方向とタイミングに応じて、サイドチャンバ40と第1チャンバ32との展開タイミングを同時か何れかが先だって展開するように構成されている。図6,8に示すように、サイドチャンバ40内に収容されたインフレータ160から、膨張ガスが放出され、当該ガスは、第1チャンバまたは/およびサイドチャンバ40、続いて第2チャンバ34、第3チャンバ36、第4チャンバ38の順番で流れるようになっている。
 図4及び図5に示すように、4つのチャンバ(32,34,36,38)が、乗員Pの右側頭部付近から左側頭部付近までを囲むように展開する。第2チャンバ34は第1チャンバ32から乗員側の方向(内側)に屈曲すると同時に、図6に示すように、若干上向きに屈曲するように展開し、確実に乗員Pの頭部(顔面)の斜め前方を含む前方を保護するようになっている。エアバッグ30(少なくとも、第1チャンバ32と第4チャンバ38)が乗員Pの肩の上方に位置することから、乗員Pの肩が干渉して展開挙動を悪化させる事態を抑制可能となる。また、エアバッグ30が乗員Pの肩の上に載ることにより、エアバッグ30と乗員Pの頭部との距離を小さくすることができ、乗員頭部を速やかに拘束することが可能となる。
 図4及び図5に示すように、エアバッグ30の膨張展開時の上面視において、第1チャンバ32の前後方向に長い長手方向に対して、第2チャンバ34の長手方向は、屈曲領域200aから角度を付けて乗員Pの前方に延びるように設けられる。また、第2チャンバ34の終端近傍である第3チャンバ36のガスの導入口から第4チャンバ38のガスの導入口に向かう、第3チャンバ36の膨張展開の方向は、第1チャンバ32の長手方向の膨張展開方向とは前後方向において概ね逆向きで、且つ、膨張展開した第2チャンバ34の長手方向に対して、第2チャンバ34の終端から乗員Pに近づく方向に角度を付けて設けられる。更に、第3チャンバ36の終端近傍である第4チャンバ38のガス導入口から第4チャンバ38の膨張展開する方向は、第1チャンバ32の長手方向の膨張展開方向とは前後方向において概ね逆向きで、且つ、第3チャンバ36の膨張展開方向に対して、第3チャンバ36の終端から乗員側Pに近づく方向に角度を付けて設けられる。このような構成により、エアバッグ30は、乗員Pの一方の肩口から当該乗員Pの頭部周囲に巻き付くように膨張展開する。
 図7は、第1チャンバ32及び第2チャンバ34を形成するパネル(基布)を示す平面図である。図7に示すように、第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34とは、2枚の基布130a(内側パネル),130b(外側パネル)を貼り合わせることにより一体に成形される。図において、符号132は第1チャンバ32に対応する領域、134は第2チャンバに対応する領域を示している。第1チャンバ32及び第2チャンバ34が展開した時に、内側パネル130aが乗員P側を向くようになっている。
 第1チャンバ32(領域132)は、サイドチャンバ40と連結される開口部154と、サイドチャンバ40のタブ164と連結されるタブ152を備えている。この開口部154を通じて、サイドチャンバ40の後端部近傍から膨張ガスが第1チャンバ32に流れ込むようになっている。第2チャンバ34の内側パネルの端部近傍で第2チャンバの下縁に沿う方向に延びるように、第3チャンバ36と流体連通するベント開口150aが形成されており、第3チャンバ36の内側パネル136a(図9参照)のベント開口150bと一緒に、周囲を縫製することによって連結される。そして、ベント開口150a,150bによって、ベントホール37が形成される。
 第1チャンバ32は、大まかには、開口部154から流入したガスを上方に導く上部方向部132aと、当該上部方向部132aに繋がり、前方に向かって展開する前方方向部132bとを含んで構成されている。なお、図7において、上部方向部132a、前方方向部132b以外の破線は縫製ラインを示すものとする。
 図7に示すように、屈曲部200aは、第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34の境目近傍に設けられる。この屈曲部200aの第1チャンバ32側に延びるテザー200および保持部材202は、直線状に近似して設けられる。屈曲部200aの第2チャンバ34側に延びるテザー200および保持部材202も、直線状に近似して設けられる。第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34が膨張前で平置きされた状態において、テザー200および保持部材202の第1チャンバ32側と第2チャンバ34側の互いの直線状に近似されたラインは、屈曲部200aで、第2チャンバ34側が第1チャンバ32側に対して、第2チャンバ34と第3チャンバ36との間のベントホール37の設けられている方向に向かって傾斜するように設けられる。
 第1チャンバ32において、膨張ガスが最初に上部方向部132aに流れ込むことから、第1チャンバ32を速やか、且つ確実に乗員Pの肩の上部に引き上げることが可能となる。
 図8は、サイドチャンバ40を形成するパネル(基布)を示す平面図である。図8に示すように、サイドチャンバ40は、2枚の基布140a(内側パネル),140b(外側パネル)を貼り合わせることにより成形される。図において、符号166は第1チャンバ32の開口部154aと連結される開口部であり、符号162はインフレータ160を収容するインフレータ保持部である。また、符号164は、第1チャンバ32のタブ152と連結されるタブである。
 サイドチャンバ40と第1チャンバ32とは、各々の開口部154a、166において直接連結されるとともに、タブ152、164同士を連結することで、展開姿勢を制御可能となっている。なお、図8において、インフレータ160以外の破線は縫製ラインを示すものとする。この連結タブ164は側部保護クッション40の上縁部に設けられている。第1チャンバ32のタブ152は、第1チャンバの下縁部に設けられており、これらのタブ152,164同士が接続されることにより、互いの膨張展開時に不用意な揺動が減り、膨張展開の安定性が増す。また、タブ152,164同士が連結されていることにより、膨張展開時にエアバッグクッションの膨張展開方向がバラバラになることがなく、乗員Pをより一体的にかつ包括的に保護できるようになる。
 図9は、第3チャンバ36を形成するパネル(基布)を示す平面図である。図9において、破線は縫製ラインを示すものとする。
 図9に示すように、第3チャンバ36は、2枚の基布136a(内側パネル),136b(外側パネル)を貼り合わせることにより成形される。内側パネル136aの一方の端部近傍には、第2チャンバ34のベント開口150aと連結されるベント開口150bが形成されている。また、内側パネル136aの他方端部近傍には、第4チャンバ38のベント開口170bと連結されるベント開口170aが形成されている。そして、ベント開口170a,170bによって、ベントホール39(図7,図9)が形成される。なお、ベントホール開口150bは、ベント開口170aよりも短手方向の長さが長く、開口面積も大きくなっている。
 図10は、第4チャンバ38を形成するパネル(基布)138を示す平面図である。図10において、破線は縫製ラインを示すものとする。
 図10に示すように、第4チャンバ38は、1枚のパネル138を半分に折り畳むことによって袋状に成形される。パネル138の長手方向中心付近には、第3チャンバのベントホール170aと連結されるベントホール170bが形成され、このベト開口170bの長手方向に沿った中心線が当該パネル138の折り目となる。
 図11は、図7乃至図10に示すパネルの連結を説明するための平面図である。また、図12は、図7乃至図10に示すパネルを連結した状態を示す平面図である。図11に示すように、第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34とを一体化したチャンバが最も大きく、次いでサイドチャンバ40の容量が大きくなる。これに対して、第3チャンバ36の容量は小さく、第4チャンバ38の容量は更に小さく設計される。
 第2チャンバ34と第3チャンバ36とは、ベント開口150aとベント開口150bの周辺のみで縫製によって連結される。また、第3チャンバ36と第4チャンバ38とは、ベント開口170aとベント開口170bの周辺のみで縫製によって連結される。
(エアバッグの圧縮)
 図13は、本発明の実施例に係るエアバッグ30の圧縮工程の一部を示す平面図であり、説明の便宜上、第1チャンバ32及び第2チャンバ34のみを示し、他のチャンバ(第3チャンバ36、第4チャンバ38、サイドチャンバ40)については、図示を省略する。実際には、図12に示すように全てのチャンバを縫製によって連結した後に、圧縮工程が行われる。
 図13(A)に示す状態から、テザー200を後方に引っ張って(手繰り寄せて)、第1チャンバ32及び第2チャンバ34のテザー200の周辺にクシュクシュとした皺領域210を形成する(図13(B))。次に、皺領域210の上下部分を中心に向かって蛇腹折りして圧縮する。なお、皺領域210の「皺」は、無造作に縮める(シュリンクさせる)ような形態の他、蛇腹折りのようなある程度規則的な折畳みの形態を採用することも可能である。
 その後、第3チャンバ36及び第4チャンバ38を一緒に蛇腹折りし、更にロールする。最後に、サイドチャンバ40を蛇腹状に折り畳む又はロールすることによってエアバッグ30の圧縮工程が完了する。

 図4~図6に示すように、本実施例に係るエアバッグ装置20においては、車両の衝突事象が発生すると、インフレータ160が作動し、膨張ガスがサイドチャンバ40の後端部近傍にあるインフレータ保持部162から、第1チャンバ32に流れ込む。第1チャンバ32に膨張ガスが流れ込むと、最初に上部方向部132a(図7)が膨張し、続いて前方方向部132bが膨張する。次に、第1チャンバ32から第2チャンバ34にガスが流れ込む。
 このとき、テザー200(図4)によって第1チャンバ32と第2チャンバ34、あるいは、第2チャンバ34とシートフレームとが連結されているため、第2チャンバ34は前方への展開が規制され、テザー200の屈曲部200a、すなわち、保持部材202の屈曲領域202aを起点として屈曲し、乗員の前方に向かって展開する(図4、図5)。なお、第2チャンバ34は、図6に示すように先端側が上方を向くように屈曲し、ベント開口150aが概ね縦長になるように展開する。
 次に、ベントホール37を介して第2チャンバ34から第3チャンバ36に膨張ガスが流れ込み、第3チャンバ36が乗員Pの正面から左側頭部付近に展開する。第2チャンバ34の内側パネル134aと第3チャンバ36の内側パネル136a同士をベントホール37周辺で連結しているため、第3チャンバ36が外方向(乗員頭部から離れる方向)へ広がるように展開する挙動が制限され、乗員Pの頭部を囲むように湾曲した形状が作り出される。
 次に、ベントホール39を介して第3チャンバ36から第4チャンバ38に膨張ガスが流れ込み、第4チャンバ38が乗員Pの左側頭部付近に展開する。第3チャンバ36の内側パネル136aと第4チャンバ36とがベントホール39周辺で連結されているため、第4チャンバ36が外方向(乗員頭部から離れる方向)へ広がるように展開する挙動が制限され、乗員Pの頭部を囲むように湾曲した形状が作り出される。
 本発明においては、テザー200をエアバッグ30の表面に沿って摺動させる構造であるため、エアバッグ30の表面からテザー200がブリッジ状に張り出すことがなく、乗員Pとの不要な干渉を避けることができる。また、エアバッグ30の展開形状を確実、精密に制御することが可能となる。そして、これらの構造により、エアバッグ30は、乗員の頭部に巻き付くように膨張展開する。
 本発明を上記の例示的な実施形態と関連させて説明してきたが、当業者には本開示により多くの等価の変更および変形が自明であろう。したがって、本発明の上記の例示的な実施形態は、例示的であるが限定的なものではないと考えられる。本発明の精神と範囲を逸脱することなく、記載した実施形態に様々な変化が加えられ得る。例えば、発明を実施するための形態では、実施例においてはファーサイドのエアバッグについて重点的に述べたが、ニアサイドエアバッグ(車両用シートの車両ドアから遠い側の面)や、スモールモビリティなど超小型車両等における単座の車両(ドアの有る無しにかかわらず一列にシートが一つしかない部分を含むような車両)等にも用いることが可能である。更には、サイドエアバッグに限らず、エアバッグを途中で屈曲させる必要のある種々のタイプのエアバッグに適用可能である。

Claims (15)

  1.  車両に搭載されるエアバッグ装置であって、
     膨張展開して乗員を拘束するエアバッグと;
     前記エアバッグの展開方向に延び、当該エアバッグの展開形状を規制するテザーと;
     前記テザーを摺動可能な状態で、前記エアバッグの表面に沿うように保持する保持部と;を備えたことを特徴とするエアバッグ装置。
  2.  前記テザーは、前記エアバッグの展開方向の先側のシート前後方向における前方の表面に連結される第1の端部と、当該第1の端部の前記エアバッグの前記シート前後方向における前記前方とは反対側の後方に第2の端部とを有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  3.  前記第2の端部は、車両の構造部に連結されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  4.  前記保持部は、長手方向の途中に屈曲部を有することを特徴とする請求項1、2又は3に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  5.  前記保持部を形成する保持部材は、前記テザーの長手方向に直交する方向の断面がループ状に成形されていることを特徴とする請求項1、2又は3に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  6.  前記保持部材は、前記エアバッグの表面に連結された長尺帯状の部材であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  7.  前記保持部材は、前記エアバッグの表面に所定の間隔で連結された複数のループ状の部材であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  8.  前記保持部材は、前記屈曲部に対応する位置には配置されないことを特徴とする請求項5に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  9.  前記エアバッグは、その折りたたみの際に、前記保持部の前記屈曲部よりも前記第1の端部側の部分を前記第2の端部側の方向に手繰り寄せて、前記エアバッグに皺を形成した圧縮部を有することを特徴とする請求項4に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  10.  前記エアバッグは、前記車両用シートの上端付近から展開することで乗員の頭部周辺を保護する構成であることを特徴とする請求項1、2又は3に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  11.  前記エアバッグは、乗員の一方の側部を保護する第1チャンバと;前記第1チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方を保護する第2チャンバと;前記第2チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方から他方の側部に渡って展開する第3チャンバと;前記第3チャンバと繋がり、乗員の他方の側部で展開する第4チャンバと;を備えることを特徴とする請求項10に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  12.  前記エアバッグは、乗員の一方の側部を保護する第1チャンバと;前記第1チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方を保護する第2チャンバと;前記第2チャンバに繋がり、乗員の頭部前方から他方の側部に渡って展開する第3チャンバと;前記第3チャンバと繋がり、乗員の他方の側部で展開する第4チャンバと;を備え
     前記テザーの第1の端部は前記第2チャンバに連結され、第2の端部は前記第1チャンバに連結されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  13.  前記保持部は、当該保持部の長手方向の途中であり、前記第2チャンバの中間部分に屈曲部を有することを特徴とする請求項11に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  14.  前記第1チャンバと前記第2チャンバとは、2枚の基布を貼り合わせることにより一体に成形され、
     前記テザーの前記第1の端部は、前記第2チャンバの前端付近に連結され、
     前記第2チャンバは、前記屈曲部付近から乗員の頭部に近づく方向に屈曲するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のエアバッグ装置。
  15.  前記第1チャンバは、上方に向かって最初に展開する上部方向部と、当該上部方向部に繋がり、前方に向かって展開する前方方向部とを含むことを特徴とする請求項11、13又は14に記載のエアバッグ装置。
