Abstract

Generic rear kitchens in different configurations are known from practice. In contrast to fixed installations, this is a camping kitchen module that can either be installed in the interior of a vehicle or removed from the vehicle again so that it can be used temporarily on vacation trips or weekend trips is very suitable. The invention is based on the object of improving a generic rear kitchen in such a way that it enables safe, practical and simple operation with a small amount of material and correspondingly low dead weight.

This problem is solved by a rear kitchen with the features of claim 1. Advantageous configurations are described in the dependent claims.

In other words, the invention surprisingly proposes using the rear, actually upright—for example vertical—wall surface of the module as a work surface, in which a sink and a hob are arranged. This rear panel occupies a so-called driving position, for example when the vehicle is being moved, and hangs down in this driving position, being pivoted in its upper part. When the rear of the vehicle is open, the rear wall surface can be pivoted about this pivot axis, upwards, backwards and upwards, so that it protrudes outwards from the interior of the vehicle and is aligned lying down, preferably horizontally. This position is referred to as the use position or cooking position, in which the sink and the hob can be operated from above. For safety reasons, it is provided that the rear wall surface can be locked in its cooking position so that it cannot inadvertently fold down. In most cases it will be sufficient to be able to move the rear panel between the upright, hanging-down driving position and the lying, rearward-hanging cooking position. However, it can also be provided that the rear wall surface can be pivoted from below from the driving position not only into the cooking position, but also further upwards, into a maintenance position that is also upright, specifically upwards. In the maintenance position, the side that represents the underside in the cooking position faces backwards, so that the hob or the sink are optimally accessible from this side, for example for carrying out maintenance work. In addition, the rear panel may also be able to be placed in this upright maintenance position for vehicle travel, such as when storing particularly long items on the vehicle floor that reach up to a liftgate or tailgate of the vehicle. The back panel and the components installed therein, such as the cooktop and sink, do not limit storage space on the vehicle floor when the back panel is in its raised service position. This storage space would also be accessible when the rear wall surface is in its cooking position, but it then typically protrudes out of the vehicle to the rear, so that the tailgate of the vehicle typically cannot be closed in this cooking position.

When the rear kitchen is designed to fit between the wheel arches of a vehicle, this is referred to as the full width rear kitchen for the purposes of the present proposal. For example, in the case of a minivan or transporter, this width can be between 100 and 140 cm, and in the case of widespread vehicle types that are customary in practice it can be around 120 cm, for example. In this way, a correspondingly wide kitchen unit can be created, which apart from the sink and the cooking field also provides a large work surface, which is advantageous for camping conditions.

Alternatively, however, it can also be deliberately provided not to use the space between the wheel housings completely for a camping module, but to leave space, for example, in order to be able to accommodate sports equipment such as a bicycle, a motorcycle or the like in the interior of the vehicle. In this case, the rear kitchen can be sized so that its dimensions are called half-width, since its width is between 50 and 70 cm.

By pivoting the rear panel upwards from the driving position to the cooking position, collision with vehicle parts such as the rear bumper is avoided, as opposed to, for example, movement about a pivot axis that would be provided at the bottom of the rear panel. In addition, the pivoting angle is not restricted by such vehicle parts as would be the case with the described downward pivoting movement.

The rear wall surface can therefore advantageously be pivoted even further upwards beyond its cooking position, up to a so-called release position. The release position serves to create optimal access to the storage space that is located in the vehicle or in the camping kitchen module in front of the rear wall surface. Since the rear wall surface is aligned lying like a counter in its cooking position and the sink protrudes downwards from the plane of the rear wall surface, as does the cooking area, which may be designed as a gas burner, these components of the rear kitchen would make access to the storage space mentioned more difficult if the rear panel is in its cooking position. In the release position, however, the rear wall surface is pivoted so far up, for example in a sloping or even to a vertical standing position, so that components which protrude downwards from the wall surface in the cooking position are raised so far in the release position that they are above the plane in which the rear wall surface lies in its cooking position. It is provided that the rear wall surface is also locked in its release position for safety reasons, so that users can easily stay below the wall surface that has been pivoted up into the release position and can have undisturbed access to the storage space.

It can advantageously be provided that the rear wall surface is aligned upright in its release position, for example is vertical. In this way, it is reliably ensured that the components that protrude downwards from the rear wall surface when the rear wall surface is in its horizontally aligned cooking position are sufficiently high to enable unimpeded access to the storage space.

Advantageously, a cover can be provided which covers the rear wall surface on the outside, ie towards the rear of the vehicle when the rear wall surface hangs down in its driving position. For this purpose, the lid assumes a so-called covering position. Firstly, this is aesthetically advantageous, and secondly, it avoids possible soiling, which could be caused by the surface of the hob, for example, if people or objects under the open tailgate hit the rear wall surface, or if the closed tailgate - or objects caught on it such as towels or the like - should come against the surface of the hob. This cover is also suspended so that it can pivot, hanging downwards, that is to say it is pivotably mounted in its upper region, for example about the same pivot axis as the rear wall surface, or about a pivot axis parallel thereto. From the covering position, the lid - in this respect comparable to the rear wall surface - can also be pivoted backwards and upwards, so that it assumes what is known as an intermediate position, in which it is aligned lying down and, for example, the rear wall surface, which is in its cooking position, moves backwards covers above. From the lying intermediate position, the lid can be swiveled even further upwards into what is known as a protective position, in which it is aligned upright, for example standing vertically. If the rear wall surface remains in its horizontally aligned cooking position, but the lid is pivoted further into the protective position, in this protective position it offers splash protection for the vehicle interior during cooking, so that, for example, the upholstery of a bed surface is protected from cooking splashes.

Apart from this covering and protective function, the lid can also be used advantageously as a utensil holder: holders for cooking utensils, for example spice jars, knife holders and the like, can be arranged on its so-called inner side, which is directed towards the rear wall surface. To carry out the pivoting movement, a pivot fitting can be provided on both sides of the rear wall surface, i.e. on the right and left in the direction of travel of the vehicle, with each pivot fitting having a holding element and a pivot arm. The support member is fixedly mounted, for example on side members of the camp kitchen module, and the pivot arm extends from the support member, pivots relative to the support member and is connected to the rear panel for pivotal movement with the rear panel. The holding element, however, is stationary, but not rigidly mounted, but also pivotally mounted, namely about a bearing axis that runs essentially parallel to the pivot axis of the rear wall surface and can possibly even coincide with it on the same axis.

The two support members on either side of the rear panel can be independently oriented relative to their respective bearing axis. We at least one of the two holding elements on adjusting means which enable such an individual setting of this holding element independently of the other holding element. Such adjusting means can advantageously be provided on both holding elements. Since the swing arms which are connected to the rear panel are journalled on the respective support element, the orientation of the respective swing arm is also changed when the respective support element is adjusted and the swing arm maintains its position relative to the respective support element.

This independent orientation of the support members allows the rear panel to be leveled in its cooking position: if the vehicle is tilted in the direction of travel and both bearings are adjustable, they can be adjusted in the same direction to bring the rear panel into a level alignment. However, if the vehicle is at an angle transversely to the direction of travel, either only a single bearing can be adjusted, or both bearings can be adjusted in opposite directions, ie each pivoted about its bearing axis in different directions. A simple check of leveling can be done by monitoring the level of a liquid in relation to the respective liquid container, for example the liquid in a glass placed on the rear panel, or by a placed or mounted on the rear panel or in the rear Wall surface integrated spirit level.

If the adjusting means adjoin the respective holding element eccentrically in relation to its bearing axis, the holding element and the bearing axis can be adjusted in one or the other pivoting direction by moving the adjusting means back and forth.

A particularly simple and problem-free adjustment of the holding elements can advantageously take place in that the adjusting means are accessible from behind and can be actuated from there. When the rear panel is raised to its cooking position, the rear ends of side panels of the camp cooking module are exposed. The adjusting screws or spindles mentioned can be accessible there, for example, with the adjusting means preferably being operable without tools, e.g. by means of knurled screws or nuts.

It can advantageously be provided that the two holding elements can be locked together in different pivoted positions about the bearing axis, and that the rear wall surface can be aligned in its cooking position and locked in the cooking position in these different pivoted positions. Both retaining elements can be pivoted about the common bearing axis and can be brought into the same, i.e. “common” pivoted positions. With such a joint pivoting movement of both holding elements, the different pivoting positions bring the pivot axis to different heights on a circular arc that runs around the bearing axis. It is therefore provided that the rear wall surface in the different pivot positions mentioned, about which the holding elements can be pivoted, because it can be aligned in its cooking position and can be locked in this cooking position.

The rear wall surface can advantageously have a movable connection element, which serves to enable connection to a fuel supply for the hob. The connecting element is provided with a coupling for connection to a fuel line, as is known, for example, from camping as a quick coupling for connecting gas bottles. The connection element as a carrier of this coupling can be moved between a rest position and a position of use. In the rest position, the coupling is so far covered or inaccessible that the connection of a fuel line to the coupling is impossible. However, when the connector is moved to its use position, a fuel line can be connected to the coupling. In the position of use, however, the connecting element forms an interference contour that prevents the rear wall surface from moving into its driving position.

For example, when the rear panel is in its lying, cooking position, the connector may be pulled or pivoted sideways or rearwardly out of the rear panel to its use position to reveal the coupling. In this position of use, the connection element would collide with the border of the rear opening of the vehicle if the rear wall surface were pivoted back down from the cooking position into the driving position. As a result, the vehicle's tailgate or tailgate may not close. This ensures that the fuel line must first be separated from the coupling and the connection element together with the coupling must be moved back into its rest position before the rear wall surface can be brought into its driving position and the vehicle can be made ready for driving. In this way, the safest possible ferry operation of the vehicle is effected: for example, on many ferries it is stipulated that fuel tanks must be separated from the hobs, not only by closing valves, but by interrupting the fuel line. The rear wall surface can be designed with the built-in components in the form of a sink and a hob as a comparatively flat add-on element, which can be mounted behind an existing interior of a vehicle. Advantageously, however, the rear wall surface can be designed as part of a module and form the rear end of this module, which has two upright side elements and a lying cover plate. The two side elements can be designed, for example, as a strut or lattice structure, or as panels, for example wood panels. Together with the cover panel, the two side elements form a U-shaped cross-section that is open at the bottom, so that the cover panel can be used, for example, as a storage, seating or lying surface and storage space is created below the cover panel, which is covered by the rear wall surface locked at the back.

In order to give this module mechanical stability, transverse bulkheads can be provided. The module, which can be used as a camping kitchen at its rear end, can be used as seating at its front end in an advantageous embodiment. For this purpose, a pivotable backrest section is arranged in the cover plate at a distance behind its front end. In its lying arrangement, this backrest section forms part of the cover plate, so it is aligned flush with the rest of the cover plate. From this configuration, the back portion can be pivoted into an upright seating configuration in which it forms a seat back. Since this backrest section is arranged at a distance behind the front end of the cover plate, the section of the cover plate which is arranged in front of the backrest section can be used as a seat.

In a particularly simple and economical embodiment, it can be provided that the cover plate has only the movable backrest section. Advantageously, however, the seat mentioned can also be formed by a movable section of the cover plate. If the cover plate is to be used, for example, as a storage or lying area, the seat can assume an arrangement that is flush with the rest of the cover plate. In principle, the length of the entire module is not limited to a certain minimum value. Due to the above considerations, it also applies to the side elements of the module that they do not have to be limited to a specific minimum length, but that a short module as described above can be implemented. The module mentioned can in principle be designed in one piece, so that it can be handled as a unit, including its various movable elements. In this case, for example, the side elements of the module can extend seamlessly over the mentioned length of 1.7 m or 1.8 m. However, in order to improve the handling of the module, the module can be divided into two sections, which are also referred to as sub-modules and can be handled separately from one another. On the one hand, this is advantageous due to the associated reduction in the weight to be handled in each case, and on the other hand, accommodating the two sub-modules when not in use is simplified, for example in a shed, garage, in an attic or the like. The two sub-modules are not completely independent set up independently of one another in the vehicle, but can rather be connected to one another in order to improve the stability of the entire module; However, they can also be separated from each other for the purpose of their respective transport. The rear section, which has the rear wall surface including the sink and hob, is referred to as the kitchen module, while the front section is referred to as the seating module, in which either the cover plate can be used directly as a seat, or the movable section mentioned in the form of the backrest section and possibly also of the movable seat surface.

The module can advantageously have a comparatively small height, in that the cover plate is held at a height of 30 to 40 cm by the side elements. In practice, firstly, sufficient storage space is created and secondly, a generous lying feeling is made possible, since even with a body height of 10 to 15 cm, which is due to a cushion, there is a large amount of free space up to the vehicle headliner.

The rear kitchen can advantageously be designed in such a way that it can be removed from the vehicle and also allows cooking at a distance from the vehicle, for example to be able to visit particularly beautiful places or to be able to reliably keep cooking vapors away from the vehicle interior. For example, a foldable underframe can be carried in the vehicle to save space and, if necessary, set up at a distance from the vehicle in order to carry the kitchen work surface, i.e. the rear wall surface including the sink and hob, at a suitable working height.

It can therefore advantageously be provided that the pivoted rear wall surface together with the sink and the hob forms a separately manageable unit that consists of the vehicle zeug and in particular from the rest of the camping module can be removed as an independent unit. Where the pivot axis runs, this unit can be hung from above in a support structure of a camping module. If the rear kitchen has the cover explained above, this can advantageously form part of the separately removable unit, because the cover can advantageously also be connected to the swivel fitting provided for the rear wall surface, so that here a unit combining several functions is present anyway is created. A camping module is partially visible in FIG. 1 , which can either be arranged in the interior of a vehicle or can be removed from the vehicle again and which is referred to as rear kitchen 1 . The rear kitchen 1 has two side elements 2 and an upper cover plate 3 and a rear wall surface 4, which offers space for an indicated sink 5 and a likewise only indicated hob 6, in which two likewise only indicated hotplates are provided purely by way of example.

The rear wall surface 4 has an opening 7 on the side. A connecting element designed as an elongate bolt, for example as a square hollow profile, can be pushed through this opening 7 . In its pushed-in position of rest, a coupling of the connection element is covered, which is used for connection to a fuel line. A hose line runs from this coupling first through the interior of the connection element and then on to the hotplates of the cooktop 6. The rear wall surface 4 connects to the two side elements 2 on both sides by means of a swivel fitting. Each swivel fitting has a holding element 8 and a swivel arm 9, the two swivel arms 9 being movable about a common swivel axis 10 and the two holding elements 8 each being also pivotably mounted about a bearing axis 11, as is explained in more detail with reference to Fig. 2:

The swivel arms 9 form a circular contour around the swivel axis 10, with notches 12 being provided on the circumference. When the rear panel 4 is in its illustrated, horizontally oriented cooking position, a locking bolt 14 engages in a central notch 12 of a total of three and thus secures the rear panel 4 in its cooking position. The two remaining notches 12 are each offset by 90 ° to the middle notch 12 in the illustrated embodiment and serve to secure the rear wall surface 4 in a lowered driving position hanging vertically downwards or in a raised release position standing vertically upwards. in which easy access to the storage space below the cover plate 3 is made possible.

Against the action of a tension spring 15, the locking bolt 14 can be pivoted out of the arc of the pivot arm 9 and thus disengaged from the notch 12, so that the rear wall surface 4 together with the pivot arm 9 can then be pivoted about the pivot axis 10. The movement of the locking bolt 14 is transmitted via a torsion bar 19 to the opposite side of the rear kitchen 1, where a similar locking mechanism is located. Deviating from the exemplary embodiment shown, a spring-loaded locking bolt can be used, which is spring-loaded in the axial direction and is designed, for example, as a so-called index bolt and locks the swivel arm 9 on the holding element 8 . The outermost of these two components, for example the holding element 8, can have the locking bolt, which indexes the respective position of the rear wall surface 4 through a hole pattern, which is arranged inside the two components, for example in the swivel arm 9. Depending on the position of the rear wall surface 4, a pin of the indexing or indexing bolt engages in one of the several holes in this hole pattern by spring pressure, so that the rear wall surface is fixed in this position. The locking bolt can be released during this pivoting movement so that it is spring-loaded against the inside of the two components and automatically moves into the next hole in the hole pattern.

The holding element 8 has adjusting means 16 which are connected to the holding element 8 on the one hand and fixed to the associated side element 2 on the other hand. In the exemplary embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the adjusting means 16 have two counter-rotating adjusting screws 17 and a nut 18 connecting these two adjusting screws 17. By actuating the adjusting means 16, the holding element 8 can be pivoted clockwise or counterclockwise about the bearing axis 11, so that accordingly, the rear wall surface 4 on this side of the rear kitchen 1 is raised or lowered.

Fig. 4 shows that on this side the adjusting means 16 are configured differently than on the opposite side shown in Figs. 1 and 2: a nut, which is guided on a spindle 20, is connected to the holding element 8, the spindle is manually adjustable by means of a very roughly knurled handle 21.

In the illustrated embodiment, the adjusting means 16 are each aligned vertically.
