Definitions
- An embodiment of the present invention relates to a wireless tag reader.
- a wireless tag reading device that attaches a wireless tag to an item such as a product sold in the store and reads information related to the item to be purchased from the wireless tag.
- Goods are, for example, put in a basket and brought to the checkout counter.
- the wireless tag reading device installed in the checkout counter reads all the items in the basket with the installed antenna and performs payment processing for the items to be purchased.
- the wireless tag reader has a box-type shape with an opening above, forward, or both, and a hollow accommodating portion inside.
- the customer or the store clerk stores the product or the basket containing the product from the opening inside the box.
- the wireless tag reader radiates radio waves from an antenna provided at the bottom or side of the box to the accommodating portion in the box to read the information of the unrelated tag attached to the product located in the accommodating portion.
- the wireless tag reader is often provided with a radio wave reflecting unit in order to prevent the radio wave radiated from the antenna from leaking to the outside.
- the radio wave reflecting unit reflects the radio wave leaking to the outside toward the storage unit.
- the radio waves radiated from the antenna and the radio waves reflected by the radio wave reflecting section are mixed.
- a null point where the radio wave is weak may occur due to the interference between the radio waves. Since it is difficult for radio waves from the antenna to reach the wireless tag located at the position where the null point is generated, it may be difficult to read the tag information of the wireless tag.
- An object to be solved by the present invention is to provide a wireless tag reading device capable of improving the reading accuracy of tag information of a wireless tag.
- the radio tag reading device of the embodiment includes a bottom surface portion and a plurality of side surface portions erected above the end portion of the bottom surface portion, and the article is housed in the storage portion surrounded by the bottom surface portion and the side surface portions. It is a wireless tag reading device that reads the tag information of the attached wireless tag, and is provided inside the side surface portion with an antenna that radiates radio waves to the wireless tag, and is provided outside the antenna and radiates from the antenna. It includes a radio wave reflecting unit that reflects the generated radio waves toward the accommodating unit, and a radio wave absorbing unit that is provided above the radio wave reflecting unit and absorbs radio waves radiated from the antenna.

- the wireless tag transmits tag information for the received radio wave P2.
- the antenna 21 receives the tag information from the wireless tag.
- the radio wave P3 radiated from the antenna 212 to the radio wave absorbing unit 231 side is absorbed by the radio wave absorbing unit 231.

- the radio waves P1 and the radio waves P2 have different phases, when the radio waves P1 and the radio waves P2 interfere with each other, a null point may occur in which the mutual radio wave strengths cancel each other out.
- the radio tag located at this null point may not be able to receive the radio wave radiated by the antenna 21.
- the null point tends to occur more as the length of the radio wave reflecting unit 222 in the vertical direction and the length of the radio wave reflecting unit 223 in the vertical direction are longer.

As a result, the reading accuracy of the wireless tag located in the accommodating portion 15 can be improved. Moreover, the stacked radio wave absorbing unit 231 and the radio wave absorbing unit 232 make it possible to prevent the radio wave radiated by the antenna 21 from leaking to the outside. Further, since the radio wave reflecting portion 222 and the radio wave reflecting portion 223 are made of metal, the length of the radio wave reflecting portion 222 in the vertical direction and the length of the radio wave reflecting portion 223 in the vertical direction are shortened. Therefore, it can contribute to the weight reduction of the wireless tag reading device 1.

- the communication unit 37 is electrically connected to the self-POS terminal via the connection line L, and can transmit and receive information to and from each other.

Receives tag information including information that identifies a product as an individual item from the wireless tag attached to. Then, the control unit 300 searches the product master 342 based on the tag information, acquires the product information of the corresponding product, and stores it in the tag information unit 331. Further, the control unit 300 displays the acquired product information on the display unit 18. Then, when the reading of the wireless tag is completed, the control unit 300 turns on or blinks the LED 16 to notify the operator of the reading status (for example, whether reading is in progress or reading is completed).
- the radio tag reading device 1 includes a bottom surface portion 12 and a plurality of side surface portions 13 erected above the end portion of the bottom surface portion 12, with the bottom surface portion 12 and the side surface portions 13.
- a radio wave reflecting unit 22 which is provided outside the antenna 21 and reflects the radio wave radiated from the antenna 21 toward the accommodating unit 15, and a radio wave reflecting unit 22 which is provided so as to be laminated on the upper portion S of the radio wave reflecting unit 22 and radiated from the antenna 21. It is provided with a radio wave absorbing unit 23 that absorbs the radio waves.
- the length of the radio wave reflecting unit 22 in the vertical direction is shortened, and the radio wave absorbing unit 23 is laminated therein. Therefore, since the radio wave reflecting unit 22 does not exist at the position where the radio wave absorbing unit 23 is laminated, the radio wave is not reflected at this position, so that the number of points where a null point is generated in the accommodating unit 15 can be reduced. As a result, the reading accuracy of the wireless tag located in the accommodating portion 15 can be improved.
- the laminated radio wave absorbing unit 23 makes it possible to prevent leakage of the radio wave radiated by the antenna 21 from the radio tag reading device 1 to the outside.
- a removable back surface portion 14 is provided.
- the back surface portion 14 may be fixedly provided on the wireless tag reading device 1.
- the wireless tag reading device 1 may be a device not provided with the back surface portion 14.
- the side surface portion 13 having the same configuration as the back surface portion 14 may be provided on the front surface opposite to the back surface portion 14. In this case, the side surface portion 13 provided on the front surface may be detachable from the wireless tag reading device 1 or may be fixed to the wireless tag reading device 1.
- the product is used as an example of the article.
- the present invention is not limited to this, and the article may be other than a product.
