A nacelle cover for a wind turbine arranged and prepared to cover at least an upper part of a nacelle whereby the nacelle cover comprises a first end prepared and arranged to be in close proximity to a hub of a wind turbine wherein the nacelle cover comprises an at least partly dome shaped section close to the first end of the nacelle cover.

Description

Wind turbine nacelle cover
The invention relates to a nacelle cover of a wind turbine.
It is known to provide a nacelle cover of a wind turbine, al so named as a nacelle canopy or housing of a wind turbine, where the main purpose is to provide a shielding of the inte rior arrangements of the nacelle. It may be shielding in re lation to the weather conditions, e.g. rain, snow, sand, wind, temperature, lightning strikes or electro-magnetic noise. It is also known to provide a number of openings in the nacelle cover for cooling purposes or for installation or maintenance purposes.
In relation to installation or maintenance it is often neces sary to provide access from the nacelle canopy to a hub of a wind turbine. This is e.g. known from US 2013/0236311 A1 where a number of openings is provided in the nacelle cover to reach the hub through a number of bridges on the hub providing access to the hub. One problem is though that these bridges on the hub are sticking out and rotating with the hub which could give some safety issues.
The aim of the invention is therefore to provide an improved arrangement and method having a direct access through an opening from a nacelle cover to a hub of a wind turbine.
The object of the invention is achieved by the independent claim 1.
A nacelle cover for a wind turbine is arranged and prepared to cover at least an upper part of a nacelle whereby the na celle cover comprises a first end prepared and arranged to be in close proximity to a hub of a wind turbine whereby that the nacelle cover comprises an at least partly dome shaped section close to the first end of the nacelle cover.
By the wording "dome shaped" it means having the shape of a dome, rounded - curving and somewhat round in shape where the dome shaped section is a protruding top part of the nacelle cover. In the following the wording "dome section" and "dome shaped section" is used having the same meaning.
Further features of the invention are disclosed in the de pendent claims 2 to 13.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention the dome sec tion provides access to the hub through a dome section open ing .
Thereby it is easy to get access to a hub of a wind turbine through the opening in the dome section of the nacelle cover.
The nacelle cover may further be segmented where the dome section may comprise a movable segment that can be opened.
This may provide an easy access to the nacelle and easy ac cess to the hub or a spinner (an outer cover part of a hub) .
The movable segment can be connected to the dome section at least by a hinge, a gas damper and/or a bolt.
In this way in an embodiment the dome section may be split in two movable segments.
In an embodiment the movable segments of the dome section may be opened by e.g. a gas damper to two sides.
This provides an easy access to the hub and the nacelle.
The nacelle cover may further in a preferred embodiment com prise at least two similar segments that are bolted or glued together .
The segments may in a further embodiment be addable until the length of the cover fits to the length of a nacelle struc ture . In an embodiment the nacelle cover segments comprise one or more panels or profiles where the panels or profiles may have four sides having a flange or an overlap connection for each side .
In a preferred embodiment the flange of a panel or a profile acts or functions as a connection to the support structure of a nacelle.
The nacelle cover may further comprise one or more cut-outs for openings after the molding process.
In a further embodiment the dome section can be connected to a corner profile connected to a side panel.
In another embodiment the dome section fits to the size of the hub or a spinner.
In this way it is also easier to provide access to a hub or an outer spinner part.
It is further preferred in an embodiment that the material of the cover comprises fiberglass or steel.
A further preferred embodiment is a method to transport a na celle comprising a nacelle cover wherein the segmented dome section of the nacelle cover is preassembled and/or placed inside the nacelle during transportation.
By having the segmented dome section of the nacelle cover placed inside the nacelle during transportation it is easier to transport the nacelle without the protruding dome section due to the height of the nacelle during transportation at bridges and similar places with height obstacles.
When transporting the nacelle comprising the nacelle cover with the segmented dome section in a preassembled way the route for nacelle transportation may e.g. be planned so that bridges or similar height obstacles are avoided.
The invention is shown in more detail by the help of figures. The figures show a preferred configuration and do not limit the scope of the invention.
FIG. 1 shows a side view of an embodiment of the inventive nacelle cover.
FIG. 2 shows a top view of an embodiment of the inventive na celle cover.
FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of the inventive nacelle cover seen from a back end.
FIG. 4 shows the nacelle cover of FIG. 1, 2 and 3 in a per spective view.
In FIG. 1 there is shown a preferred embodiment of the in ventive nacelle canopy 1 seen from one side having a front end 2 and an at least partly dome shaped section 3 placed near the front end 2.
As it can be seen from the figure the dome section 3 is pro truding upwards from the nacelle cover 1 in a curved shape towards the front end 2.
As also shown in FIG. 1 the nacelle cover 1 is segmented in a number of plates and/or profiles. From the figure there is shown a number of side plates 4 and corner profiles 5 placed respectively along the side of the nacelle cover 1.
There is also shown a side plate 4 having a cut-out 8 and an opening 7. As also shown in the figure the dome section is connected to a corner profile 5 that is further connected to one or more side plates 4.
The segments of the nacelle cover 1 comprising one or more plates or profiles, e.g. the side plates 4 and the corner profile 5 and also the dome section 3, may comprise a glued or bolted connection (not shown) .
The segments may also comprise a flange or an overlap connec tion for each connection side of the segment, e.g. a plate or a corner profile having four connection sides (not shown) .
In FIG. 2 an embodiment of the inventive nacelle cover 1 is shown from above showing a dome section opening 13 placed near the front end 2 of the nacelle cover 1 within the dome section 3. This dome section opening provides access to a hub or spinner (not shown) of a wind turbine placed close to the front end 1 and the dome section 3 of the nacelle cover 1.
In the figure there is also shown a number of top plates 6 and corner profiles 5 which may be connected together by one or more connections as earlier explained (not shown) in rela tion to FIG. 1 for the plates and the profiles.
A flange of a panel or a profile may further act or function as a connection to the support structure of a nacelle (not shown) .
