Description

WASHING MACHINE COMPRISING A SPRINKLING DRUM LIFTER
The present invention relates to a washing machine wherein water is sprinkled from the drum lifter onto the laundry.
In washing machines, especially in programs where delicate laundry is washed with low mechanical movement defined with drum rotational speed, time, etc., the washing performance decreases. The washing machines comprise an immobile tub and a drum rotating inside the tub, and as the washing water is sent via the tub, it takes time to reach the interior volume of the drum, failing to uniformly wetting the laundry. In order to solve the problem of inconsistent wetting, the washing machine comprises a circulation system, also called "jet system", which enables the laundry to be sprinkled by spraying water from above and which enables the washing water taken from the lower side of the tub to be sent back into the drum from the upper side of the tub. The jet system activated during the main washing step improves the water circulation as well as the washing process with an additional hydrodynamic force. In some embodiments, the drum lifters are used to guide the washing water coming from the jet system directly into the drum. In the jet system, the washing water coming from the circulation line first fills into the lifter and then is sprayed onto the laundry through the holes on the lifter. In order to take water into the lifter in the embodiment of sprinkling water from the lifter, the drum must be stopped, which decreases the amount of mechanical movement and hence the washing performance.
In the Patent No. EP2138626 (B1) and in the Patent Applications No. EP1529866 (A1), EP0806513 (A2) and GB2205585 (A), washing machines are disclosed wherein the washing water is sent from the lifters in the drum onto the laundry.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a washing machine wherein the washing performance, especially for delicate laundry, is increased by regionally spraying water into the washing environment from inside the drum lifter.
The washing machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention comprises at least one lifter which is positioned at the uppermost section of the drum by the control unit when the relevant washing program is selected and which receives the washing water coming from the circulation (jet) system. The washing water with detergent filling into the lifter is sprayed onto the laundry through the flow port under the lifter.
In the washing machine of the present invention, two inlet openings are provided one above the other on the drum and the tub in line with the front and rear sides of the lifter which is in the upper position. By means of a distribution pipe connected between the inlet openings and the water supply line which delivers water into the drum, water is sent into the lifter. In the distribution pipe, a water guiding member is provided, which provides the guiding of the water received from the water supply line into the lifter through any inlet opening or both inlet openings. The control unit controls the operation of the water guiding member depending on the selected washing program and when it is desired to spray water to different regions in the drum from the lifter. In an embodiment of the present invention, the water guiding member is a shutter which is pivotally mounted into the distribution pipe so as to rotate around the vertical axis, and guides the water received into the distribution pipe from the water supply line to the front and/or rear side of the lifter from only a single inlet opening or both openings in three different positions the water guiding member is shifted to by a movement mechanism.
The washing machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

The washing machine (1) of the present invention comprises
- more than one, preferably two inlet openings (6) one above the other which are arranged on the drum (3) and the tub (2) in line with the front and rear sides of the lifter (4) which is in the upper position,
- a dual-type distribution pipe (7) which is connected between the water supply line (5) and the inlet openings (6) and which provides the delivery of the water into the lifter (4) through the inlet openings (6), and
- a water guiding member (8) which is provided in the distribution pipe (7) and which provides the guiding of the water received from the water supply line (5) into the lifter (4) through any inlet opening (6) or both inlet openings (6).
The control unit (16) controls the operation of the water guiding member (8) depending on the selected washing program and when it is desired to spray water to different regions in the drum (3) from the lifter (4).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the water guiding member (8) is a shutter which is pivotally mounted into the distribution pipe (7) so as to rotate around the vertical axis. The water guiding member (8) guides the water received into the distribution pipe (7) from the water supply line (5) to the front and/or rear side of the lifter (4) from only a single inlet opening (6) or both openings (6) in three different water guiding member (8) positions (I, II, III) the water guiding member (8) is shifted to by a movement mechanism (not shown in the figures) such as electric motor, solenoid, etc. operated by the control unit (16) (Figure 4).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the water guiding member (8) is a three-way valve which has one inlet and two outlets and which is shifted to different water guiding positions by the control unit (16).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the washing machine (1) comprises a circulation system (jet system) (9) which is disposed at the lower side of the tub (2) and which enables the water received from the tub (2) outlet to be delivered to the distribution pipe (7) by means of a pump (10) and the water supply line (5).
In the washing machine (1), when the circulation system (9) is activated by the control unit (16) depending on the selected washing program, the drum (3) is stopped and the lifter (4) is positioned at the uppermost point.
