Abstract

일 실시예에 따른 영상 처리 장치는 연속된 프레임들에 기초하여 픽셀 단위의 제1 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하고, 광학 흐름 정보에 대응하는 다항식 모델을 추정한다. 영상 처리 장치는 다항식 모델에 기초하여 프레임들에 포함된 홀(hole)의 제2 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하고, 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여 입력 영상을 인페인팅 한다.

Description

영상 처리 방법 및 그 장치
아래 실시예들은 영상 처리 방법 및 장치에 관한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로 연속되는 프레임 데이터를 활용한 다항식 모델 기반 구면 좌표계 영상의 인페인팅 기법에 관한 것이다.
최근 다양한 360 파노라마 VR 카메라들의 등장으로 보다 손쉽게 360 파노라마 동영상 촬영 및 제작이 가능해졌다. 그러나 이러한 파노라마 촬영은 360도 전방향의 촬영이 한번에 이루어짐으로써 촬영 스탭(staff) 및/또는 촬영 장비가 영상에 포함되는 것이 불가피하며, 촬영 후 보정이 반드시 필요하다.
본 발명은 연속되는 프레임 이미지정보를 활용하여 광학 흐름정보의 2차원 다항식 모델 추정을 통해 360 파노라마 영상에서 손쉬운 객체 제거를 가능하게 한다. 또한 복원된 광학 흐름 정보 기반으로 프레임간 객체 추적을 통한 영상 복원을 가능하게 하여 파노라마 영상 콘텐츠 편집 시간의 간소화 및 제작 비용 절감을 가능하게 한다.
일 측에 따른 영상 처리 방법은 연속된 프레임들의 입력 영상을 수신하는 단계; 상기 프레임들에 기초하여, 픽셀 단위의 제1 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하는 단계; 상기 광학 흐름 정보에 대응하는 다항식 모델을 추정하는 단계; 상기 다항식 모델에 기초하여, 상기 프레임들에 포함된 홀(hole)의 제2 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하는 단계; 및 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 상기 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여, 상기 입력 영상을 인페인팅 하는 단계를 포함한다.
상기 다항식 모델을 추정하는 단계는 상기 입력 영상의 좌표계에 대응하는 모션 패턴 및 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보에 기초하여, 상기 다항식 모델에 포함되는 상관 계수를 추정하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 다항식 모델은 상기 모션 패턴에 대응하는 행렬 및 상기 상관 계수에 대응하는 벡터의 곱으로 모델링 될 수 있다.
상기 상관 계수를 추정하는 단계는 상기 다항식 모델의 값과 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보의 값 사이의 차이가 최소화되도록, 상기 상관 계수를 추정하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 인페인팅 하는 단계는 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 상기 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여, 상기 홀에 해당하는 픽셀의 값을 역추적하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 홀은 상기 입력 영상으로부터 제거된 영역에 해당할 수 있다.
상기 영상 처리 방법은 상기 프레임들로부터 특징점들을 추출하는 단계; 및 프레임 간 특징점들을 매칭함으로써, 프레임 간 회전을 제거하는 단계를 더 포함할 수 있다.

상기 추정부는 상기 다항식 모델을 추정하기 위하여, 상기 입력 영상의 좌표계에 대응하는 모션 패턴 및 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보에 기초하여, 상기 다항식 모델에 포함되는 상관 계수를 추정할 수 있다.
상기 인페인팅부는 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 상기 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여, 상기 홀에 해당하는 픽셀의 값을 역추적할 수 있다.
상기 영상 처리 장치는 상기 프레임들로부터 특징점들을 추출하고, 프레임 간 특징점들을 매칭함으로써, 프레임 간 회전을 제거하는 전처리부를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 인페인팅부는 상기 홀을 지시하는 인페인팅 마스크 데이터에 더 기초하여, 상기 입력 영상을 인페인팅 할 수 있다.

도 1을 참조하면, 입력 영상(110)은 연속되는 복수의 프레임들을 포함한다. 예를 들어, 입력 영상(110)은 360도 파노라마 비디오 데이터일 수 있다. 일 실시예에 따른 소프트웨어(120)는 연속되는 프레임 정보를 활용하여 자동으로 객체를 제거한다. 소프트웨어(120)는 광학 흐름 기반 움직임을 추정하고, 제거 대상 객체에 해당하는 홀의 광학 흐름을 보간(interpolate)할 수 있다. 그 결과, 추정된 광학 흐름에 따라 전파된 색상 정보로 인하여 인페인팅 된 영상이 출력 영상(130)으로 출력될 수 있다. 영상 처리 방법은 영상 처리 장치에 의하여 수행될 수 있고, 영상 처리 장치는 하나 또는 그 이상의 소프트웨어 모듈, 하나 또는 그 이상의 하드웨어 모듈, 또는 이들의 다양한 조합으로 구현될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따른 '연속되는 프레임 정보를 활용한 자동 객체 제거 기술'은 다음과 같은 동작들을 통하여 수행될 수 있다.
1) 객체를 제거하고자 하는 360 영상에 대해 제거 영역의 마스크를 생성하고 해당 영역의 색상 정보 제거
2) 마스크 영역이 지워진 색상 정보를 이용하여 광학 흐름 기반 움직임 추정 및 선형 방정식을 통한 마스크 영역의 광학 흐름 정보 보간
3) 보간된 광학 흐름 정보를 기반으로 제거된 영역의 색상 정보 역추적하여 홀 채움
실시예들에 따른 기술적 기대효과로, 고해상도(예를 들어, 4K급 품질)의 360도 영상에 대해 높은 퀄리티(예를 들어, 평균 정확도 RMSE 10 이하)로 객체를 제거하는 것이 가능하다. 또한, 실시예들에 따른 2차원 다항식 모델은 해상도의 크기와 관계없이 적용 가능하여 높은 활용성을 지닌다.
실시예들은 콘텐츠 산업에 적용됨으로써, 다음과 같은 측면에서 VR 콘텐츠의 효과적인 생산에 기여할 수 있다.
1) VR 촬영 장비의 경우 넓은 화각을 촬영하는 과정에서 불필요하거나 원하지 않던 객체가 함께 촬영되는 경우가 많음.
2) 연속되는 프레임 정보에서 광학흐름 정보를 추정하여 이를 2차원 다항식 모델 추정을 통해 복원 및 원하는 객체를 제거할 수 있음
3) 제안하는 인페인팅 기술은 파노라마 영상 편집의 자유도를 높이기 위한 기본이 되는 기술이며 기술 활용도가 높음
도 2는 일 실시예에 따른 연속되는 프레임을 활용한 객체 제거 방법을 설명하는 도면이다.
도 2를 참조하면, 입력 영상(210)은 영상 내 제거하고자 하는 객체를 포함한다. 영상 처리 장치는 입력 영상(210)으로부터 제거 영역 마스크(215)를 생성할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 제거 영역 마스크(215)는 각 프레임에 대응하는 비트맵 데이터로, 비트맵 데이터는 픽셀 단위로 제거 영역을 지시할 수 있다.
영상 처리 장치는 입력 영상(210)으로부터 광학 흐름(optical flow) 기반 움직임을 추정하여 제1 광학 흐름 정보(220)를 생성할 수 있다. 제1 광학 흐름 정보(220)는 제거 영역에 해당하는 홀(hole) 이외의 영역 내 픽셀들의 광학 흐름을 나타내는 벡터들을 포함할 수 있다. 제1 광학 흐름 정보(220)는 한 프레임 내 픽셀과 다른 프레임들의 픽셀들 사이의 광학 흐름을 추정함으로써 결정될 수 있다.
영상 처리 장치는 제1 광학 흐름 정보(220)에 대응하는 다항식 모델을 추정함으로써, 제1 광학 흐름 정보(220)를 보간하여 홀의 제2 광학 흐름 정보를 추정할 수 있다. 보간된 광학 흐름 정보(225)는 제1 광학 흐름 정보(220)과 제2 광학 흐름 정보를 포함할 수 있다. 다항식 모델과 관련된 상세한 사항은 후술한다.
영상 처리 장치는 보간된 광학 흐름 정보(225)를 기반으로 제거 영역에 해당하는 홀의 색상 정보를 탐색 및 추정할 수 있다. 영상 처리 장치는 인페인팅 된 영상(230)을 출력할 수 있다.
도 3은 일 실시예에 따른 연속되는 프레임 데이터 정보를 활용한 2차원 다항식 모델 추정 기반 구면 좌표계 영상 인페인팅 방법을 나타내는 동작 흐름도이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 영상 처리 장치는 도 3의 처리를 거쳐 비디오 프레임간 광학 정보 흐름 추정 및 2차원 다항식 모델추정을 통하여 360 파노라마 비디오의 인페인팅 편집을 진행할 수 있다.

를 입력으로 받는다. 입력 비디오(310) 및/또는 인페인팅 마스크 데이터(315)는 360 영상을 표현하기 위한 좌표계에 기반하며, 예를 들어 가로 수평 회전과 세로 수직 회전으로 이루어진 구면좌표계로 이루어져 있을 수 있다. 영상 처리 장치는 인페인팅 마스크 데이터(315)를 통해 인페인팅 편집을 위한 영역을 설정할 수 있다.
도 4a는 일 실시예에 따른 구면좌표계를 도시한 도면이고, 도 4b는 일 실시예에 따른 정방형 투사를 도시한 도면이다. 도 4a의 구면좌표계와 도 4b의 정방형 투사의 관계는 수학식 1을 따른다.

[특징점 매칭 기반 프레임간 회전 제거]: 영상 처리 장치는 I의 프레임간 이미지들 사이에서 특징점 XX'을 추출(320)하고, XX'를 매칭(330)하여 프레임간 회전 변환 E를 추정 후 역변환을 통해 영상 회전을 제거(340)할 수 있다. X는 프레임들 중 한 프레임의 특징점을 나타내고, X'은 다른 프레임의 특징점을 나타낼 수 있다. 일 예로, 특징점 추출을 위하여 A-KZAZE 기법이 이용될 수 있다. 수학식 2는 XX' 사이의 특징점 매칭 관계를 나타낸다.

[프레임간 픽셀단위 광학 흐름 정보 추정]: 영상 처리 장치는 회전 제거된 비디오 데이터(350)에 기초하여, I의 프레임간 이미지들 사이에서 픽셀 단위의 광학 흐름 정보를 추정(355)할 수 있다. 도 5는 일 실시예에 따른 광학 흐름 정보를 설명하는 도면이다. 도 5를 참조하면, 광학 흐름 정보는 전방향(Forward)/후방향(backward) 광학 정보를 포함할 수 있다.
[2차원 다항식 모델 추정]: 도 6a는 일반 이미지의 모션 패턴을 설명하는 도면이고, 도 6b는 일 실시예에 따른 파노라마 좌표계의 모션 패턴을 설명하는 도면이다. 도 6b의 파노라마 좌표계의 모션 패턴은 도 6a의 일반 이미지의 모션 패턴과 달리 왜곡되는 현상이 일어난다. 하기 수학식 3을 참조하면, 영상 처리 장치는 파노라마 좌표계의 모션 왜곡 현상을 반영한 모션 패턴에 대응하는 다항식 형태의 A 행렬을 만들고, A행렬에 의한 모델링 값(혹은 보간 값)과 측정된 광학흐름 정보

[보정된 광학 흐름 정보 생성]: 영상 처리 장치는 추정된 2차원 다항식 모델을 활용하여 인페인팅 편집이 필요한 마스크 영역의 광학 흐름 정보를 보정할 수 있다. 이 다항식 모델은 구면좌표계 각도에 대응된 적용되므로 이미지 해상도 크기에는 관계없이 적용될 수 있는 장점이 있다.
[파노라마 이미지 인페인팅]: 영상 처리 장치는 보정된 광학 흐름 정보(365)를 활용하여 다수의 프레임으로부터 픽셀 값의 역추적을 통해 인페인팅 편집(370)을 진행할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 마스크 영역의 픽셀을 향하는 광학 흐름 정보 및/또는 마스크 영역의 픽셀을 시작점을 가지는 광학 흐름 정보를 따라서, 색상 정보를 가지는 다른 프레임의 픽셀을 탐색할 수 있다. 그 결과, 인페인팅 편집된 360도 파노라마 비디오가 출력될 수 있다(380).

소프트웨어는 컴퓨터 프로그램(computer program), 코드(code), 명령(instruction), 또는 이들 중 하나 이상의 조합을 포함할 수 있으며, 원하는 대로 동작하도록 처리 장치를 구성하거나 독립적으로 또는 결합적으로(collectively) 처리 장치를 명령할 수 있다. 소프트웨어 및/또는 데이터는, 처리 장치에 의하여 해석되거나 처리 장치에 명령 또는 데이터를 제공하기 위하여, 어떤 유형의 기계, 구성요소(component), 물리적 장치, 가상 장치(virtual equipment), 컴퓨터 저장 매체 또는 장치, 또는 전송되는 신호 파(signal wave)에 영구적으로, 또는 일시적으로 구체화(embody)될 수 있다. 소프트웨어는 네트워크로 연결된 컴퓨터 시스템 상에 분산되어서, 분산된 방법으로 저장되거나 실행될 수도 있다. 소프트웨어 및 데이터는 하나 이상의 컴퓨터 판독 가능 기록 매체에 저장될 수 있다.
실시예에 따른 방법은 다양한 컴퓨터 수단을 통하여 수행될 수 있는 프로그램 명령 형태로 구현되어 컴퓨터 판독 가능 매체에 기록될 수 있다. 상기 컴퓨터 판독 가능 매체는 프로그램 명령, 데이터 파일, 데이터 구조 등을 단독으로 또는 조합하여 포함할 수 있다. 상기 매체에 기록되는 프로그램 명령은 실시예를 위하여 특별히 설계되고 구성된 것들이거나 컴퓨터 소프트웨어 당업자에게 공지되어 사용 가능한 것일 수도 있다. 컴퓨터 판독 가능 기록 매체의 예에는 하드 디스크, 플로피 디스크 및 자기 테이프와 같은 자기 매체(magnetic media), CD-ROM, DVD와 같은 광기록 매체(optical media), 플롭티컬 디스크(floptical disk)와 같은 자기-광 매체(magneto-optical media), 및 롬(ROM), 램(RAM), 플래시 메모리 등과 같은 프로그램 명령을 저장하고 수행하도록 특별히 구성된 하드웨어 장치가 포함된다. 프로그램 명령의 예에는 컴파일러에 의해 만들어지는 것과 같은 기계어 코드뿐만 아니라 인터프리터 등을 사용해서 컴퓨터에 의해서 실행될 수 있는 고급 언어 코드를 포함한다. 상기된 하드웨어 장치는 실시예의 동작을 수행하기 위해 하나 이상의 소프트웨어 모듈로서 작동하도록 구성될 수 있으며, 그 역도 마찬가지이다.
이상과 같이 실시예들이 비록 한정된 도면에 의해 설명되었으나, 해당 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 상기를 기초로 다양한 기술적 수정 및 변형을 적용할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 설명된 기술들이 설명된 방법과 다른 순서로 수행되거나, 및/또는 설명된 시스템, 구조, 장치, 회로 등의 구성요소들이 설명된 방법과 다른 형태로 결합 또는 조합되거나, 다른 구성요소 또는 균등물에 의하여 대치되거나 치환되더라도 적절한 결과가 달성될 수 있다.

Claims (20)

  1. 연속된 프레임들의 입력 영상을 수신하는 단계;
    상기 프레임들에 기초하여, 픽셀 단위의 제1 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하는 단계;
    상기 광학 흐름 정보에 대응하는 다항식 모델을 추정하는 단계;
    상기 다항식 모델에 기초하여, 상기 프레임들에 포함된 홀(hole)의 제2 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하는 단계; 및
    상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 상기 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여, 상기 입력 영상을 인페인팅 하는 단계
    를 포함하는 영상 처리 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 다항식 모델을 추정하는 단계는
    상기 입력 영상의 좌표계에 대응하는 모션 패턴 및 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보에 기초하여, 상기 다항식 모델에 포함되는 상관 계수를 추정하는 단계
    를 포함하는, 영상 처리 방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 다항식 모델은
    상기 모션 패턴에 대응하는 행렬 및 상기 상관 계수에 대응하는 벡터의 곱으로 모델링 되는, 영상 처리 방법.
  4. 제3항에 있어서,
    상기 상관 계수를 추정하는 단계는
    상기 다항식 모델의 값과 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보의 값 사이의 차이가 최소화되도록, 상기 상관 계수를 추정하는 단계
    를 포함하는, 영상 처리 방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 인페인팅 하는 단계는
    상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 상기 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여, 상기 홀에 해당하는 픽셀의 값을 역추적하는 단계

    상기 프레임들 중 어느 하나의 프레임에 포함된 픽셀에 대응하여, 상기 어느 하나의 프레임을 제외한 나머지 프레임들의 픽셀들과 상기 픽셀 사이의 광학 흐름을 나타내는 벡터를 추정하는 단계
    를 포함하는, 영상 처리 방법.
  10. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 입력 영상은
    360도 파노라마 비디오 데이터를 포함하는, 영상 처리 방법.
  11. 제1항의 방법을 실행시키기 위한 프로그램이 기록된 컴퓨터 판독 가능한 기록 매체.
  12. 연속된 프레임들의 입력 영상을 수신하는 수신부;
    상기 프레임들에 기초하여 픽셀 단위의 제1 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하고, 상기 광학 흐름 정보에 대응하는 다항식 모델을 추정하며, 상기 다항식 모델에 기초하여 상기 프레임들에 포함된 홀(hole)의 제2 광학 흐름 정보를 추정하는 추정부; 및
    상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보 및 상기 제2 광학 흐름 정보 중 적어도 하나에 기초하여, 상기 입력 영상을 인페인팅 하는 인페인팅부
    를 포함하는 영상 처리 장치.
  13. 제12항에 있어서,
    상기 추정부는
    상기 다항식 모델을 추정하기 위하여,
    상기 입력 영상의 좌표계에 대응하는 모션 패턴 및 상기 제1 광학 흐름 정보에 기초하여, 상기 다항식 모델에 포함되는 상관 계수를 추정하는,
    영상 처리 장치.
  14. 제13항에 있어서,
    상기 다항식 모델은
    상기 모션 패턴에 대응하는 행렬 및 상기 상관 계수에 대응하는 벡터의 곱으로 모델링 되는, 영상 처리 장치.
