Abstract

The magnetic multiple scale ruler is able to hold twelve (12) different scales, thereby enhancing the versatility of this measuring instrument and allowing the removal and installation of other scales selected by the user. The configurations of this instrument can be personalised by the user, displacing one, two or all three measuring rulers and attaching one or more other rulers with four different scales. Moreover, given that some professionals use two measuring systems simultaneously, the user can configure the instrument to have metric and imperial scales at the same time, thus providing the user with more options when administering paper space and resolving the eternal problem of reducing and increasing scales (conversions).

Description

 DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY

All the draftsmen, designers, architects, engineers, inventors, designers, industrialists and related professionals frequently have the problem of scales and their transformations to more suitable ones; We do not understand them or the transformation is difficult, in addition to the margins of error that this entails when making calculations directly on the drawings and the reality that many professionals have to work with two measurement systems simultaneously (metric and English).

A standard scale has a total of six (6) different scales, metric or English, limiting the options and versatility of the instrument. This problem affected me in my work and made many times I had in some cases up to three Weighing Scales on my drawing board in addition to the 'spending therefore this provides in terms of time money and space. One day God gave me the idea, making me think of an instrument that contained all the scales of decrease or enlargement that I needed. I started working on some preliminary designs. First I designed one that could literally change six (6) scales simultaneously, but although this design was good it gave me another problem was that I could not combine the scales according to my personal needs so I started working on a design that allowed individual movement of the scales. three rulers since the instrument consisted of three rulers with two useful edges each. Each edge contained two (2) scales therefore each ruler contained four (4) scales and the instrument in total had 8 probable combinations of six (6) scales each. In the following design each ruler could be moved individually but the complexity generated by it requiring six individual rotary knobs (2 for each ruler) and this would obviously increase production costs and susceptibility to damage. Finally, we achieved a design that requires fewer parts and reduces production costs, in addition to achieving the objective of being able to move the scales individually, resulting in an increase of six (6) possible combinations of scales from two (2) that were possible when only they could move all three (3) rules simultaneously. The current design is the final result of two prototypes previously outlined and studied.

 The magnetic multiple scale is able to accommodate twelve (12) different scales and replace the twelve scales at the user's discretion, increasing the versatility of this measuring instrument.

The settings of this instrument can be. customized by the user by replacing a ruler and inserting a new ruler on its magnetic support, one, two or all three measurement rulers at the same time. In addition, because some draftsmen work with two measurement systems simultaneously, the user can configure it to have metric or English scales at the same time, giving the user more options when managing the space available on the paper and solving the always present problem of decrease or enlargement scales. The multiple scale can be sold in six metric scales and six English scales for users who require it, since the three measurement rules can be replaced by others, which will also give the manufacturer the opportunity to market the insertion rules with four scales each a .

 The instrument consists of the following parts:

 1. Two stainless steel plates one millimeter thick.

 2. Two magnetic insert brackets: Ruler assembly bracket.

 3. Three four-scale rulers made of plastic with stainless steel ends that adhere to magnetic holders.

 The system that allows the rulers to be replaced consists of two parts, which are the magnetic supports (see supports on page # 2). This system allows that by pulling the ruler with enough force to detach it from the magnetic support it can be removed from its place and replaced by another ruler or rotated on its axis to use a scale contained in the same ruler. When you have selected the desired scale or ruler, simply move it closer to the magnetic holder and it will be attached to the holder as soon as it falls into the magnetic field of the holder. Users can use the combination of scales they want without having to resort to conversion (which makes us prone to making mistakes). Finally, for the user who uses a mixed measurement system, he will be able to mix metric and English scales.

Claims

CLAIMS A Magnetic Multiple Scale has twelve (12) scales that magnetically adhere to the supports.
A Magnetic Multiple Scale is customizable, removing the rulers and inserting others selected by the user, detaching them from the magnetic support or the pressure clip.

A Magnetic Scaler has Two Magnetic Supports: whose function is to immobilize or release the rulers and to serve as a structural support along with the rulers.
Three Insert Rules of four (4) scales: Three units with four rectangular sides, each containing a scale and two rhomboid shapes at its ends. The body of the rulers is plastic and the ends that stick to the magnets are made of stainless steel on each ruler
Two stainless steel plates that adhere to the magnetic supports as a limit for the rulers.
 The insert system can be replaced by a non-magnetic one using springs in a pressure support that holds the rulers if the manufacturer prefers to dispense with the magnetic system which was chosen for simplicity of operation and intuitive features.
