油温:40℃
油種:0W-8(SEA規格、SAEJ300 エンジン油粘度分類(2015年1月)に基づく。)
油量:充満
軸52(スリンガ3)の回転速度:0rpm
評価試験は、1,000時間を上限として、上記試験条件での漏れの発生が確認されるまでの時間を測定することにより行われた。また、評価試験は、図5に示すような使用状態を擬似的に作った評価装置において行われた。この評価装置において、密封対象物側に上述の密封対象物としての油を注ぎ、密封対象物側において密封装置1全体が油に覆われるようにした。

表1に示すように、溝33の深さhがh=8μmである浅い溝33を有する試験例1,2においては、1,000時間経っても漏れが発生しなかった。また、溝33の深さhがh=13μmである浅い溝33を有する試験例3においては、550時間漏れの発生がなかった。溝33の深さhがh=16μm,26μmである溝33を夫々有する試験例4,5においては、比較的短時間で漏れが発生した。

表2に示すように、溝深さhがh=15μmの溝33を有する密封装置1(試験例14,15)においては、漏れの発生がなく1,000時間漏れの発生が確認されなかったものもある。また、条数nがn=43と、条数nがn=24である溝深さhがh=26μmの試験例13よりも条数nが多い溝深さhがh=15μmの試験例14においては、試験例13よりも漏れ発生時間が約3倍延びている。このように、本発明の実施の形態に係る密封装置1においては、スリンガ2の溝33の深さhは15μm以下であることが好ましいと言える。
Claims (5)
- 軸と該軸が挿入される孔との間の環状の隙間の密封を図るための密封装置であって、
前記孔に嵌着される密封装置本体と、
前記軸に取り付けられるスリンガとを備え、
前記密封装置本体は、軸線周りに環状の補強環と、該補強環に取り付けられている弾性体から形成されている軸線周りに環状の弾性体部とを有しており、
前記スリンガは、外周側に向かって延びる前記軸線周りに環状の部分であるフランジ部を有しており、
前記弾性体部は、軸線方向において一方の側に向かって延びる、前記フランジ部の前記軸線方向において他方の側の面に接触する前記軸線周りに環状のリップである端面リップを有しており、
前記スリンガの前記フランジ部の前記他方の側の面には、少なくとも1つの浅い溝が形成されていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 前記スリンガは、複数の浅い溝を有していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の密封装置。
- 前記溝の各々の深さは、15μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の密封装置。
- 前記溝の各々の深さは、10μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項3記載の密封装置。
- 前記溝は、前記シールリップが接触する部分を交差していることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項記載の密封装置。
