이차전지
본 발명은 이차전지에 관한 것이다.
통상적으로 이차 전지는 충전이 불가능한 일차 전지와는 달리, 충전 및 방전이 가능한 전지이다. 이차 전지는 모바일 기기, 전기 자동차, 하이브리드 자동차, 전기 자전거, 무정전 전원공급장치(uninterruptible power supply) 등의 에너지원으로 사용되며, 적용되는 외부기기의 종류에 따라 단일 전지의 형태로 사용되기도 하고, 다수의 전지들을 전기적으로 연결하여 하나의 단위로 묶은 전지 모듈의 형태로 사용되기도 한다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태는, 충, 방전 전류의 패스를 형성하는 전극 단자의 임의 회전을 효과적으로 억제할 수 있는 이차전지를 포함한다.
본 발명의 다른 실시형태는, 전극 단자의 체결력을 강화하여, 충, 방전 전류가 흐를 때 전극 단자의 전기 저항을 낮게 유지하고, 출력 특성을 일정하게 유지할 수 있다.
본 발명의 이차전지는,
전극 조립체;

예를 들어, 의도하지 않게 전극 단자(150)에 적용되는 외부 토오크(T)는 전극 단자(150)의 상부 플랜지부(150a)를 통하여 가스켓(151)과 캡 플레이트(110)로 전달될 수 있다. 이때, 캡 플레이트(110)의 제1 요철 면(S1)에 접촉된 가스켓(151)은, 상부 플랜지부(150a)를 통하여 전달되는 외부 토오크(T)에 대해 효과적으로 저항할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 제1 요철 면(S1)과 가스켓(151) 간의 마찰 저항은, 상기 가스켓(151)과 함께 전극 단자(150)의 임의 회전을 억제할 수 있을 정도로 충분하게 형성될 수 있다. 상기 제1 요철 면(S1)은, 충분한 마찰 계수를 갖도록 소정의 조도(roughness)를 가질 수 있고, 예를 들어, 10μm 이상의 조도를 가질 수 있다.
상기 요철 면(S)은 상기 절연 플레이트(120)의 상면에 형성된 제2 요철 면(S2)을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 제2 요철 면(S2)은, 캡 플레이트(110)의 하면과 마찰 접촉을 형성할 수 있다. 앞서 설명된 바와 같이, 상기 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120)는, 상기 전극 단자(150)의 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A)에서 서로에 대해 밀착되며, 상기 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120) 간의 마찰을 제공하는 제2 요철 면(S2)에 의해, 상기 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120) 간의 상대적인 슬립이 방지될 수 있다. 즉, 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 내에 형성된 제2 요철 면(S2)은, 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120) 사이에 상대적인 슬립을 허용하지 않을 정도로 충분한 마찰력을 제공할 수 있고, 제2 요철 면(S2)에 의해 일체화된 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120)는, 전극 단자(150)의 임의 회전을 억제할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 전극 단자(150)의 회전은, 캡 플레이트(110)와 일체화된 절연 플레이트(120), 또는 상기 절연 플레이트(120)를 개재하여 캡 플레이트(110)와 일체화된 단자 플레이트(130)에 의해 저지될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 전극 단자(150)의 회전은, 캡 플레이트(110)의 상면에 압착된 상부 플랜지부(150a) 또는 단자 플레이트(130)의 하면에 압착된 하부 플랜지부(150b)를 통하여, 캡 플레이트(110), 절연 플레이트(120) 및 단자 플레이트(130)의 조립체로 전달되며, 이들 플레이트(110,120,130) 간의 상대적인 슬립을 억제함으로써, 결론적으로 상기 전극 단자(150)에 가해지는 외부 토오크(T)에 대해 효과적으로 저항할 수 있다.
상기 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120) 간의 마찰력은, 상기 전극 단자(150)의 상부 플랜지부(150a)가 제공하는 수직 항력과, 상기 제2 요철 면(S2)의 마찰 계수를 인자로 하는 함수 형태로 얻어질 수 있다. 상기 제2 요철 면(S2)은, 충분한 마찰 계수를 갖도록 소정의 조도(roughness)를 가질 수 있고, 예를 들어, 10μm 이상의 조도를 가질 수 있다.
도 2 내지 도 4를 참조하면, 상기 요철 면(S)은, 상기 단자 플레이트(130)의 하면에 형성된 제3 요철 면(S3)을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은, 단자 플레이트(130)의 하면에 압착된 하부 플랜지부(150b)와 마찰 접촉을 형성할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은 하부 플랜지부(150b)와 정합되는 결합을 형성할 수 있다. 즉, 상기 제3 요철 면(S3)과 하부 플랜지부(150b) 간의 결합은, 제1 요철 면(S1)이나 제2 요철 면(S2)과 달리, 마찰 접촉 이상의 강한 결합을 형성할 수 있다. 상기 전극 단자(150)의 결합시 단자 플레이트(130)의 하면으로 노출된 전극 단자(150)의 하단부에는, 리벳팅이나 스프닝과 같은 가공이 적용된다. 이때, 고속 회전하는 가공 툴(미도시)이 전극 단자(150)의 하단부를 가압하면서 전극 단자(150)의 하단부는 측 방향으로 팽창하며 하부 플랜지부(150b)를 형성하고, 하부 플랜지부(150b)는 단자 플레이트(130)의 하면에 대해 압착된다. 그리고, 하부 플랜지부(150b)의 압착 과정에서는, 단자 플레이트(130)의 하면에 형성된 제3 요철 면(S3)을 채우도록 제3 요철 면(S3)과 치합되는 형태로 하부 플랜지부(150b)의 변형이 이루어질 수 있다. 여기서, 제3 요철 면(S3)과 하부 플랜지부(150b)가 서로 치합된다는 것은, 제3 요철 면(S3)의 조도에 대해, 상기 하부 플랜지부(150b)가 맞물리도록 서로 정합된다는 것을 의미할 수 있다. 이때, 서로에 대해 치합되는 제3 요철 면(S3)과 상기 하부 플랜지부(150b) 간의 물리적인 간섭은, 단순한 마찰 접촉이라는 보다는 서로 간의 결합으로 이해될 수 있다.
상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은, 전극 단자(150)의 가압이 이루어지는 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 내에 형성될 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은, 상기 투영 영역(A) 중에서도 하부 플랜지부(150b)와 맞닿는 위치에 형성될 수 있다. 상기 상부 플랜지부(150a)는, 전극 단자(150)의 조립 전에 전극 단자(150)가 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)로 빠지지 않도록 넓게 형성될 수 있고, 상기 전극 단자(150)의 하부 플랜지부(150b)는, 전극 단자(150)의 조립시 리벳팅이나 스피닝 가공을 통하여 형성되며, 상부 플랜지부(150a)와 비교하여 상대적으로 좁게 형성될 수 있다. 이때, 상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은 하부 플랜지부(150b)와의 결합을 형성하므로, 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 중에서도 하부 플랜지부(150b)와 맞닿는 위치에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 제3 요철 면(S3)과 일체적으로 결합된 하부 플랜지부(150b)는, 전극 단자(150)에 가해지는 외부 토오크(T)에 대해 충분한 저항을 제공할 수 있고, 전극 단자(150)의 임의 회전을 효과적으로 억제할 수 있다.
앞서 설명된 바와 같이, 상기 요철 면(S)은, 각각 서로 다른 위치에 형성된 제1 요철 면(S1), 제2 요철 면(S2) 및 제3 요철 면(S3)을 포함할 수 있다. 그러나, 본 발명의 일 실시형태는, 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S) 중에서 적어도 하나 이상의 요철 면(S)을 포함할 수 있고, 상기 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S)을 모두 포함하는 구조로 한정되지 않는다. 상기 제 내지 제3 요철 면(S) 중 적어도 하나 이상의 요철 면(S)을 포함하는 구조로도 상기 전극 단자(150)의 회전을 억제할 수 있는 충분한 회전 저항을 제공할 수 있다.
상기 요철 면(S)은, 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`) 주변에 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 요철 면(S)은, 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)의 주위를 둘러싸도록 형성될 수 있다. 상기 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)은 전극 단자(150)가 끼워지기 위한 개소로서, 전극 단자(150)의 조립 위치를 제공한다. 전극 단자(150)에 외부 토오크(T)가 작용하면, 전극 단자(150)는 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)을 중심으로 일 회전 방향으로 회전하려는 경향의 모멘트를 받게 된다. 이때, 상기 단자 홀(110`,120,`130`)의 주변을 둘러싸도록 형성된 요철 면(S)은 전극 단자(150)의 회전에 대해 효과적으로 저항할 수 있다. 다시 말하면, 상기 요철 면(S)은 상기 전극 단자(150)의 회전 방향을 따라 형성될 수 있고, 상기 전극 단자(150)의 회전 중심에 해당되는 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)의 주변으로, 일 예로, 상기 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)을 둘러싸는 패턴으로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 요철 면(S)은, 마찰 저항의 크기를 결정짓는 수직 항력의 크기를 충분히 증대하기 위해, 전극 단자(150)의 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 내에 형성될 수 있다. 이때, 상기 요철 면(S)은 전극 단자(150)의 회전 중심에 해당되는 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)로부터 상기 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A)까지의 내부에 형성될 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 상기 요철 면(S)의 형성 영역에 대해, 상기 요철 면(S)은, 상기 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)을 중심으로 하는 반경 방향을 따라 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)의 경계로부터 투영 영역(A)까지의 내부에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 요철 면(S)은, 상기 캡 플레이트(110)와 절연 플레이트(120) 및 단자 플레이트(130)에 형성된 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)의 주변으로 형성될 수 있다. 상기 제1 요철 면(S1)은 캡 플레이트(110)의 단자 홀(110`)의 주변에 형성되되, 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 내에 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 제1 요철 면(S1)은, 상기 단자 홀(110`)을 중심으로 하는 반경 방향을 따라 상기 단자 홀(110`)의 경계로부터 상기 투영 영역(A)의 경계까지의 영역 내에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 제2 요철 면(S2)은, 절연 플레이트(120)의 단자 홀(120`)의 주변에 형성되되, 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 내에 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 제2 요철 면(S2)은, 단자 홀(120`)을 중심으로 하는 반경 방향을 따라 단자 홀(120`)의 경계로부터 투영 영역(A)의 경계까지의 영역 내에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은 단자 플레이트(130)의 단자 홀(130`)의 주변에 형성되되, 상부 플랜지부(150a)의 투영 영역(A) 내에 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 제3 요철 면(S3)은, 단자 홀(130`)을 중심으로 하는 반경 방향을 따라 단자 홀(130`)의 경계로부터 투영 영역(A)의 경계까지의 영역 내에 형성될 수 있다.
이하에서는 상기 요철 면(S)의 형상에 대해 설명하기로 한다. 이하에서 설명되는 요철 면(S)의 형상은, 앞서 설명된 제1 요철 면(S1), 제2 요철 면(S2), 제3 요철 면(S3)에 대해 공통으로 적용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 이하에서 설명될 요철 면(S)의 형상에 관한 기술적 사항은, 상기 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S1,S2,S3) 중에서 적어도 어느 하나의 요철 면(S)에 대해 적용될 수 있고, 본 발명의 기술적 범위는 상기 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S1,S2,S3)을 모두 포함하는 구성으로 한정되지 않고, 예를 들어, 상기 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S1,S2,S3) 중에서 적어도 하나 이상의 요철 면(S)을 포함하는 구성을 포함할 수 있다.
도 5 및 도 6을 참조하면, 상기 요철 면(S)은 플레이트(P)의 단자 홀(H) 주변에 형성될 수 있다. 앞서 설명된 바와 같이, 상기 요철 면(S)은, 캡 플레이트(110), 절연 플레이트(120) 또는 단자 플레이트(130)에 형성된 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S1,S2,S3) 중에서 어느 하나의 요철 면(S)에 해당될 수 있고, 상기 플레이트(P)는, 캡 플레이트(110), 절연 플레이트(120) 또는 단자 플레이트(130) 중에서 어느 하나의 플레이트(110,120,130)에 해당될 수 있다. 또한 상기 단자 홀(H)은, 캡 플레이트(110), 절연 플레이트(120), 또는 단자 플레이트(130)에 형성된 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`) 중에서 어느 하나의 단자 홀(110`,120`,130`)에 해당될 수 있다.
상기 요철 면(S)은, 전극 단자(150)가 조립되는 단자 홀(H)의 주변에 형성될 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 상기 요철 면(S)은 단자 홀(H)의 주변을 둘러싸는 형태로 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 요철 면(S)은 상기 단자 홀(H)을 둘러싸는 내측 원(C1)과 외측 원(C2)을 갖는 원형의 띠 형태로 형성될 수 있다. 여기서, 상기 내측 원(C1)과 외측 원(C2)은 상기 단자 홀(H)을 둘러싸는 두 개의 서로 다른 동심원에 해당될 수 있고, 상기 단자 홀(H)을 중심으로 하고 서로 다른 반경을 갖는 동심원에 해당될 수 있다. 이때, 상기 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)은, 매끄러운 원형으로 형성될 수 있다. 여기서, 매끄러운 원형이란 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)의 원주 면을 따라 외측으로 볼록하게 돌출되거나 또는 내측으로 오목하게 인입된 불연속적인 부분을 포함하지 않는다는 것을 의미한다. 상기 요철 면(S)은, 전극 단자(150)의 회전을 억제하기 위해 회전 저항을 형성하는 것으로, 단자 홀(H)의 주변을 따라 지속적인 회전 저항을 갖도록 회전체 형태로 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)의 외주를 따라 내측으로 오목하거나 외측으로 볼록한 불연속적인 부분을 형성하는 것은, 공정의 복잡화를 초래하는 반면에 이러한 불연속적인 부분들 사이의 평탄한 면은, 전극 단자(150)의 회전을 억제하기 위한 충분한 마찰력을 형성할 수 없기 때문이다.
예를 들어, 상기 요철 면(S)은 전극 단자(150)의 단자 홀(H)을 둘러싸는 폐루프 형태로 형성될 수 있다. 만일 요철 면(S)이 상기 단자 홀(H)을 따라 부분적으로 끊어진 간헐적인 형태로 형성되면, 상기 끊어진 부분에서는 지속적인 회전 저항을 형성할 수 없다. 후술하는 바와 같이, 상기 요철 면(S)은 단자 홀(H)을 전체적으로 둘러싸는 폐루프 형태로 형성될 수 있고, 예를 들어, 단자 홀(H)을 중심으로 하는 원형의 띠 형태로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 요철 면(S)은, 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)을 경계로 하고, 이들 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2) 사이에 형성된 다수의 요철 패턴을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 요철 패턴은, 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)과 평행하지 않은 적어도 하나 이상의 스트라이프 패턴으로 형성될 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 상기 요철 패턴은, 전극 단자(150)의 회전 방향과 다른 방향으로 연장될 수 있다. 만일 요철 패턴이 전극 단자(150)의 회전 방향과 나란하게 형성되면, 상기 회전 방향을 따라 충분한 마찰 저항을 형성하기 어렵기 때문이다. 즉, 상기 요철 면(S)이 형성되는 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)은, 전극 단자(150)의 회전에 대해 지속적인 회전 저항을 형성하도록, 전극 단자(150)의 단자 홀(H)을 중심으로 회전체 형태로 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 전극 단자(150)의 회전 저항을 형성하기 위한 요철 패턴은, 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)을 가로지르는 방향으로 형성되어 전극 단자(150)의 회전에 대해 효과적으로 저항할 수 있다.
상기 요철 패턴은 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)을 가로지르는 방향으로 연장되는 스트라이프 패턴으로 형성되거나 또는 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)을 가로지르는 서로 다른 두 방향으로 연장되는 매쉬 패턴으로 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 요철 패턴은 내측 원(C1) 및 외측 원(C2)을 경계로 하고, 적어도 하나 이상의 라인을 따라 형성된 오목한 골이나 볼록한 돌기를 포함할 수 있다. 이때, 상기 요철 패턴은, 적어도 하나 이상, 예를 들어, 서로 다른 다수의 방향을 따라 연장되는 다수의 라인으로 형성될 수 있고, 앞서 예시된 바와 같이, 일 방향으로 연장되는 스트라이프 패턴이나 서로 다른 두 방향으로 교차되는 매쉬 패턴으로 한정되지 않는다.
상기 요철 패턴의 조도는, 전극 단자(150)의 회전 저항의 크기를 결정할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 요철 패턴의 조도에 따라 요철 면(S)이 제공하는 마찰력의 크기가 달라질 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 요철 패턴의 조도는, 전극 단자(150)의 회전에 저항할 수 있을 정도로 충분한 크기로 형성될 수 있다. 전극 단자(150)의 회전을 억제하기 위한 목적에 기여하는 한도에서, 상기 조도의 상한치를 설정할 필요는 없다. 다만, 상기 요철 면(S)의 요철 패턴이 충분한 마찰력을 제공하기 위해, 조도의 하한치는 설정될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 조도는 적어도 10μm 로 형성될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 요철 면(S)은, 캡 플레이트(110)에 형성되는 제1 요철 면(S1)과, 절연 플레이트(120)에 형성되는 제2 요철 면(S2)과, 단자 플레이트(130)에 형성되는 제3 요철 면(S3)을 포함할 수 있다. 본 발명의 기술적 범위는, 상기 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S)을 모두 포함하는 구성으로 한정되지 않고, 예를 들어, 상기 제1 내지 제3 요철 면(S) 중에서 적어도 어느 하나의 요철 면(S)을 포함하는 구성을 포괄할 수 있다.
이하의 표 1은, 본 발명의 요철 면(S)에 의해 발휘되는 전극 단자(150)의 회전 저항을 측정한 결과이다. 표 1의 측정에서는, 절연 플레이트(120)의 제2 요철 면(S2) 또는 단자 플레이트(130)의 제3 요철 면(S3)에 의해 발휘되는 전극 단자(150)의 회전 저항을 측정하였다. 평균적으로, 요철 면(S)을 포함하지 않는 종래의 구성에서는 6.3Kgf의 회전 저항을 감당하는데 반하여, 제2 요철 면(S2) 또는 제3 요철 면(S3)을 갖는 구성에서는, 이보다 증가된 7.4Kgf, 11.2Kgf의 회전 저항을 감당할 수 있다.

  1. 전극 조립체;
    상기 전극 조립체의 상부를 밀봉하기 위한 캡 플레이트;
    상기 캡 플레이트와 전극 조립체 사이에 개재된 것으로, 상기 전극 조립체와 전기적으로 연결된 단자 플레이트;
    상기 단자 플레이트와 캡 플레이트 사이에 개재되는 절연 플레이트;
    상기 캡 플레이트, 단자 플레이트 및 절연 플레이트를 관통하도록 조립되며, 상기 캡 플레이트의 상부에 압착된 상부 플랜지부와 상기 단자 플레이트의 하면에 압착되는 하부 플랜지부를 포함하는 전극 단자; 및
    상기 상부 플랜지부의 투영 영역 내에 형성된 것으로, 상기 캡 플레이트, 절연 플레이트, 단자 플레이트 중의 적어도 어느 하나에 형성된 요철 면;을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이차전지.
