Description

OVEN WITH IMPROVED FUME EXTRACTION
The present invention relates to a cooking appliance, in particular to an oven.
Cooking appliances such as ovens are commonly known in the art. An oven generally comprises: a cavity for cooking the food: a heating unit for heating the food inside the cavity; a fume extracting unit for extracting the fume from the cavity and for discharging the extracted fume to the outside, wherein the fume extracting unit comprises a catalyst for promoting the oxidation of the extracted fume.
DE69501965T2 discloses an oven with an integrated catalyst.
In general, the catalyst may become damaged in case of excessive heat. In such instances, the performance of the catalyst degrades, and thus the toxic gases are discharged into the kitchen environment. A problem with the prior art oven is that the catalyst of the fume extracting unit cannot be easily replaced in case of maintenance.
An objective of the present invention is to provide an oven which solves the aforementioned problems of the prior art in a cost-effective way and which enables an improved production and assemblage of the fume extracting unit and also an improved fume extraction.
This objective has been achieved by the oven as defined in claim 1. Further achievements have been attained by the subject-matters respectively defined in the dependent claims.
The oven of the present invention further comprises a holder which comprises a holding means for releasably holding the catalyst.
A major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the catalyst can be easily and quickly replaced through a service person in case of maintenance by virtue of the holder. Thereby, the risk to the health of the user can be eliminated or reduced as much as possible. Thereby the user satisfaction can be increased. Another major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the oven can be easily assembled with or retrofitted with the catalyst, and thus the production cost can be reduced both in terms of labor and material.
Additional features and additional advantageous effects of the oven according to the present invention will become more apparent with the detailed description of the embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
