Abstract
The present invention relates to a noise filter holder assembly (1) for use in a household appliance. The noise filter holder assembly (1) comprises: a noise filter (2) which comprises one or more electrical components, and a plurality of terminals (3) for the electrical connection; and a holder (4) which is adapted to hold the electrical components of the noise filter and the terminals (3).
Description
The present invention relates to a household appliance, in particular to a cooking appliance. The present invention more particularly relates to the noise filter of the cooking appliance.
Household appliances such as cooking appliances are commonly known in the art. A cooking appliance generally comprises: a noise filter which comprises one or more electrical components, and a plurality of terminals for the electrical connection; and a holder which holds the electrical components of the noise filter and the terminals. The electrical components generally comprise capacitors and/or inductors.
WO2015078519 (A1) discloses a capacitor holder.
A problem with the prior art cooking appliance is that the ambient conditions can adversely affect the operation of the electrical components of the noise filter. For instance, the ambient humidity can condense into liquid droplets and accumulate on the terminals. In addition, the ambient dust can stick to the wet surfaces of the terminals and cause an electrical short circuit. The inflammable materials in close proximity to the electrical components can be easily set on fire by the electrical short circuit and pose a risk to the safety of the cooking appliance. This problem is not limited to the cooking appliance and may also arise in several other household appliances which have noise filters.
An objective of the present invention is to provide a noise filter holder assembly which solves the problems of the prior art in a cost-effective way and which improves the fire prevention and the safety of the appliance.
This objective has been achieved by the noise filter holder assembly as defined in claim 1. Further achievements have been attained by the subject-matters respectively defined in the dependent claims.
The noise filter holder assembly of the present invention comprises: a protective cover which is provided separately from the holder and which is made from an electrically insulating and a fire retardant material; and an attachment means for attaching the protective cover to the holder.
A major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the safety of the household appliance can be improved through the protective cover which is attached to the holder. Thereby, the risk of fire can be eliminated or reduced as much as possible.
In an embodiment, the protective cover can be non-releasably attached to the holder. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the protective cover can be prevented from being detached by the user. Thereby, the safety of the household appliance has been further improved.
In another embodiment, the protective cover can be snap-fittingly attached to the holder
This embodiment, is particularly advantageous as the the protective cover can be easily assembled with the holder by the assembly operator. Thereby, the production costs can be reduced both in terms of labor and material.
In another embodiment, the protective cover can be non-releasably and snap-fittingly attached to the holder through one or more pairs of notches and claws. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the notches and the claws enable a quick and reliable attachment.
In another embodiment, protective cover can be hung through its tab onto the holder. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the protective cover can be easily aligned with the holder during the attachment.
In another embodiment, the terminals are accessible through an opening which is formed into the protective cover. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the assembly operator can establish the electrical connections after the attachment.
In another embodiment, the protective cover is attached to the holder without an adhesive bonding. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the assembly line can be protected from chemical residues, and thus the assembly process can be conducted in an environment friendly way.
In another embodiment, the protective cover including the attachment means is manufactured as a single piece. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the number of pieces can be reduced, and thus the production costs can be reduced both in terms of labor and material.
In another embodiment, the protective cover is made from a plastic material. In this embodiment, the plastic material complies with the standard for safety of flammability of plastic materials for parts in devices and appliances testing. In a version of this embodiment, the plastic material complies with the V-0 classification. This embodiment is particularly advantageous as the risk of fire can be reduced, and thus the safety of the household appliance can be further improved.
The present invention also provides a household appliance which comprises one or more noise filter holder assemblies. In other alternative embodiments, the household appliance of the present invention is provided as a free standing type cooking appliance or a built-in type cooking appliance. In other alternative embodiments, the cooking appliance comprises an oven and/or a cooktop. These embodiments are particularly advantageous as the safety of the cooking appliance can be further improved through the noise filter holder assembly.
Additional features and additional advantageous effects of the noise filter holder assembly of the present invention will become more apparent with the detailed description of the embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 – is a schematic partial perspective view of a noise filter holder assembly according to an embodiment of the present invention;
