OBD port can be directly connected to the interface circuit 230 via a wired connection, or a separate local OBD dongle (wireless means) can be connected to OBD port, and the information can then be given either on USB or on wireless network such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Multiple use cases can be implemented using vehicle data including, but not limited to, remote diagnostics, prognostics, service center management, driving behavior study, etc.

  • Audio point 310 and microphone point 312 can be used to provide connectivity for the external audio I/O devices, as the vehicle infotainment system also has an inbuilt audio speaker and mic for audio I/O.
  • Points 314 can be used as VGA cable adaptor, also slots 316 and 318 can be used as micro SD card or SD card reading slots, respectively.
  • Button controls 320 can be used to control and navigate through various functionalities of the present vehicle infotainment system of the portable mobile device 330 attached to the UEI integrated vehicle infotainment system. There can be few indicators present on the bottom panel of the UEI integrated vehicle infotainment system to show indicator 322 for Wi-Fi connection mode as ON/OFF, 324 for Bluetooth connection mode as ON/OFF, 326 for Internet connection mode as ON/OFF, and power connectivity and supply mode as ON/OFF.

  • the shock levels inside the vehicle can be very high and proper functioning of any mobile device in such environmental conditions requires a special mounting arrangement.
  • FIG. 4 shows a special mounting arrangement that can be as simple as soft cushion to a complex mechanical shock absorbing arrangement 410. The only purpose of the arrangement can be to absorb shock from vehicle to the extent where the mobile device can be used continuously for the in vehicle infotainment system.
  • a user can constantly use the screen of the mobile device for inputs via touch-screen interface on the mobile device and can cause wear-tear or damage to the touch screen after a long-term use and can affect displaying of information clearly on the screen of the mobile device. Usage pattern of the user cannot be controlled, and therefore in order to avoid such harm and damage to the mobile device, a separate replaceable touch screen guard 408, as shown in FIG. 4 can also be provided in the vehicle infotainment system.
  • the touch screen guard 408 can be a detachable and replaceable part. When user sees wear and tear of this part or reduced clarity, he/she can replace screen guard with a new screen guard.
  • FIG. 5 illustrates secure management of distributed data connected via secured network by the UEI in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
  • vehicle infotainment system can be used as a dashboard vehicle infotainment system 504, co-driver vehicle infotainment system 506, or rear seat vehicle infotainment system 508. All these vehicle infotainment systems can be connected to each other via a common secured Wi-Fi local network that allows users to access and use data and devices connected to all the vehicle infotainment systems and devices together. Therefore, the disclosed distributed data system/structure reduces memory burden on any specific individual system or device. Thus, vehicle infotainment system can collectively store/manage data and share applications across the network. Also, connecting all these vehicle infotainment systems, devices, and interfaces on single network allows users to play multiplayer games together.
  • vehicle infotainment system disclosed can be used inside any mobilized or non-mobilized vehicle including 2/3/4 wheelers, cars, trucks, industrial material handling vehicles, construction equipments, planes, aircrafts, helicopters, trains, buses or any other place, where the system can be deployed and customized accordingly. All automotive, locomotive, or aerospace OEMs, system/subsystem/part manufacturers or suppliers, aftermarket fitments, service centres or retail shops can well use the UEI disclosed.

Abstract

Des modes de réalisation de la présente invention concernent une interface électronique universelle (UEI) pour un système d'infodivertissement de véhicule. Des modes de réalisation de la présente invention concernent notamment une interface électronique universelle pour permettre l'intégration de n'importe quel dispositif informatique portable avec un système d'infodivertissement de véhicule. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'interface électronique proposée peut permettre à n'importe quel dispositif portable tel qu'un dispositif mobile ou une tablette de faire office de système d'infodivertissement de véhicule. Dans un mode de réalisation de la présente invention, l'interface électronique universelle peut comprendre un bus de réseau de véhicule, diverses entrées/sorties numériques/analogiques, des chargeurs et d'autres modules pour permettre l'intégration d'un dispositif mobile de tout type avec le véhicule. L'UEI selon l'invention peut comporter une batterie rechargeable et réutilisable intégrée pour assurer une longue alimentation de secours. Dans différentes mises en œuvre, l'interface peut être personnalisée afin de répondre aux exigences de l'utilisateur en matière de confort et de facilité d'utilisation.
