Abstract
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind Katalysator-Formkörper, welche mit Palladium und Gold sowie einer Alkaliverbindung und gegebenenfalls weiteren Dotierstoffen durchimprägniert sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Katalysator-Formkörper aus Bentonit gefertigt sind, in Form von Ringen mit einer Länge von 1 mm bis 2 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 3 mm bis 5 mm, einem Innendurchmesser von 2 mm bis 3 mm und einer Wandstärke von 0,5 mm bis 1,5 mm.
Description
RINGFÖRMIGE BENTONIT KATALYSATOR-FORMKÖRPER FÜR DIE HERSTELLUNG VON VINYLACETAT
Die Erfindung betrifft Katalysator-Formkörper für die Herstellung von Vinylacetat mittels Gasphasenoxidation von Essigsäure und Ethylen.
Es ist bekannt, dass man Ethylen in der Gasphase mit Essigsäure und Sauerstoff an Festbettkatalysatoren zu Vinylacetat umsetzen kann. Geeignete Katalysatoren können als katalytisch aktive Komponenten Palladium und/oder dessen Verbindungen und Alkaliverbindungen, sowie zu- sätzlich Gold und/oder dessen Verbindungen (System Pd/Alkali/Au) enthalten. Die katalytisch aktiven Komponenten sind auf Formkörpern als Katalysatorträger aufgetragen.
Als Trägermaterialien eignen sich Metalloxide wie Siliziumdioxide, insbesondere pyrogen hergestellte Metalloxide wie pyrogene Siliziumdioxide, oder auch natürlich vorkommende Schichtsilikate, insbesondere Bentonit, ein Gemisch aus verschiedenen Tonmineralien mit Montmor- rilonit. Die Herstellung der Formkörper aus den pulverförmigen Trägermaterialien erfolgt in der Regel durch Pressen, oder Extrusion, gegebenenfalls unter Verwendung von Bindern und Gleitmitteln, um stabile Formkörper zu erhalten. Aus dem Stand der Technik sind mehrere Katalysatorformen bekannt, beispielsweise Kugeln, (Hohl) Zylinder oder Ringe. Die WO 2008 / 071610 AI betrifft die Herstellung von Katalysatorformkörpern auf der Basis von pyrogenen Metalloxidpulvern wie Siliziumoxid und mit beliebiger Formgestalt wie Ringe, Zylinder oder Kugeln, welche sich als Katalysatoren für die Gasphasenoxidation von Ethylen und Essigsäure zu Vinylacetat eignen. In den Beispielen wer- den Hohlzylinder hergestellt mit einer Länge von 5 , 5 mm oder 6 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 5 , 5 mm oder 6 mm und einer Bohrung von 2 , 5 mm oder 3 mm, das heißt einer Wandstärke von jeweils 1 , 5 mm.
Die EP 0 807 615 AI beschreibt Katalysatorträger auf Basis von pyro- gen hergestelltem Siliziumoxid für die Herstellung von Vinylacetatmo- nomer in katalytischer Gasphasenoxidation von Essigsäure und Ethylen, welche in Form von eines Strangs, einer Tablette oder als Ring vor-
liegen. Beschrieben werden Ringe mit einem Außendurchmesser von 9 mm, einer Höhe von 5 mm und einem Innendurchmesser von 3 mm.
In der EP 1 323 469 A2 wird ein Trägerkatalysator auf der Basis von pyrogenem Siliziumoxid beschrieben, insbesondere zur Herstellung von Vinylacetat mittels Gasphasenoxidation, wobei der Formkörper in einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform einen Außendurchmesser von 3 bis 8 mm, und einen Innendurchmesser von mindestens 1 mm hat.
Die WO 2008/071611 AI betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Formkörpern aus pyrogenen Metalloxiden ohne Zusatz von Bindemittel, welche sich als Katalysatorträger eignen. Die Geometrie der Formkörper ist beliebig, beispielsweise werden Zylinder, Kugeln, Ringe und Pellets genannt. In den Beispielen werden Hohlzylinder hergestellt mit einer Länge von 5,5 mm oder 6 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 5,5 mm oder 6 mm und einer Bohrung von 2,5 mm oder 3 mm, das heißt einer Wandstärke von jeweils 1,5 mm.
Die DE 10 2007 043 447 AI betrifft Katalysatorträger für den Einsatz in der Synthese von Vinylacetat-Monomer mit Bentonit als Trägermaterial, wobei die Formgestalt beliebig ist, und Kugeln mit einem Durchmesser von größer als 2 mm bevorzugt werden.
Die WO 2008/145389 A2 beschreibt einen Schalenkatalysator für die Herstellung von Vinylacetat-Monomer auf der Basis eines natürlichen Schichtsilikates, insbesondere eines säurebehandelten kalzinierten Bentonits . Die Form des Schalenkatalysators ist beliebig, wobei Kugeln mit einem Durchmesser von größer als 2 mm bevorzugt werden.
In der WO 2008/145392 A2 wird die Verwendung von Schalenkatalysatoren gelehrt, da diese eine selektivere Reaktionsführung gewährleisten als durchimprägnierte Katalysatorformkörper. Als Trägermaterialien können Metalloxide wir Siliziumoxid oder natürliche Schichtsilikate wie Bentonit verwendet werden. Die Formgestalt der Katalysatorformkörper ist beliebig, wobei die Kugelform bevorzugt wird.
Die WO 2008/145394 A2 betrifft einen Trägerkatalysator für die Vi- nylacetatmonomer-Herstellung bestehend aus einem, ein natürliches Schichtsilikat umfassenden Material, wie Bentonit, welches zur Verbesserung der Aktivität mit Zirkonoxid dotiert ist. Die Formgestalt ist beliebig, wobei Kugeln mit einem Durchmesser von mehr als 2 mm bevorzugt werden.
In der WO 2008/145395 A2 wird ein kugelförmiger Schalenkatalysator zur Herstellung von Vinylacetatmonomer beschrieben auf der Basis von natürlichem, säurebehandelten und kalzinierten Bentonit mit einer Pd/Au-Schale , welcher mit Kaliumacetat als Promotor durchimprägniert ist. Zur Steigerung der Aktivität wird die Dotierung mit einer Reihe von oxidischen Verbindungen vorgeschlagen.
Es bestand die Aufgabe, Katalysator-Formkörper für die Herstellung von Vinylacetat zur Verfügung zu stellen, welche sich gegenüber den vorbekannten dadurch auszeichnen, dass die Selektivität der Gaspha- senoxidation erhöht wird.
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind Katalysator-Formkörper, welche mit Palladium und Gold sowie einer Alkaliverbindung und gegebenenfalls weiteren Dotierstoffen durchimprägniert sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Katalysator-Formkörper aus Bentonit gefertigt sind, in Form von Ringen mit einer Länge von 1 mm bis 2 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 3 mm bis 5 mm, einem Innendurchmesser von 2 mm bis 3 mm und einer Wandstärke von 0,5 mm bis 1,5 mm.
Geeignete Materialien zur Fertigung der Katalysator-Formkörper sind die Bentonite. Als Bentonite bezeichnet man tonhaltige Gesteine, welches als Hauptbestandteil, im Allgemeinen mehr als 50 Gew.-%, Mont- morillonit enthalten, ein Aluminiumhydrosilikat , das zur Gruppe der Phyllosilikate (Blätterstruktur-Silikate) gehört. Weitere Bestandteile der Bentonite können beispielsweise Feldspat, Glimmer, Calcit und Quarz sein. Bevorzugt werden sauer aktivierte Bentonite. Durch saure Aktivierung wird die Oberfläche des Bentonits erhöht. Sauer aktivierte Bentonite erhält man durch Erhitzen des Naturbentonits beispiels- wese in Salzsäure oder Schwefelsäure und anschließender Filtration,
Trocknung und Mahlung. Bentonit und sauer aktivierter Bentonit sind im Handel in Form von Pulvern oder Granulaten erhältlich, beispiels- weise von der Firma American Colloid Company. Zur Herstellung der Katalysator-Formkörper wird der pulvertörmige
Bentonit unter Zusatz von Wasser vermählen. Die Wassermenge wird dabei so gewählt, dass ein Gemisch mit teigartiger Konsistenz erhalten wird. Die damit erhaltene Masse wird dann zu Ringen mit den beanspruchten Abmessungen geformt. Die Formgebung erfolgt vorzugsweise mittels Extrusion, wobei die Länge der Ringe dadurch erhalten wird, dass die Extrudate mit einer Schneidvorrichtung entsprechend geschnitten werden.
Die damit erhaltenen Formkörper werden anschließend getrocknet, vor- zugsweise bei einer Temperatur von 25°C bis 100°C. Dem Trocknungsschritt schließt sich die Kalzinierung der Formkörper an. Die Kalzinierung kann in einem Ofen unter Luftatmosphäre, gegebenenfalls unter Schutzgas, erfolgen. Im Allgemeinen wird dazu auf eine Temperatur von 500°C bis 1000°C erhitzt. Die Sinterzeit beträgt im Allgemeinen zwi- sehen 2 und 10 Stunden.
Mit den genannten Verfahrensschritten werden als Katalysator-Formkörper Ringe mit einer Länge von 1 mm bis 2 mm, einem Außendurchmes ser von 3 mm bis 5 mm, einem Innendurchmesser von 2 mm bis 3 mm und einer Wandstärke von 0,5 mm bis 1,5 mm hergestellt.
Die Überführung des Katalysator-Formkörpers in einen aktiven Katalysator geschieht durch Aufbringen einer oder mehrerer katalytisch aktiver Verbindungen wie Palladium und Gold oder deren Precursor-Ver- bindungen, sowie einer Alkaliverbindung und gegebenenfalls weiterer Dotierstoffe, die gegebenenfalls in einem nachfolgenden Schritt in eine aktive Verbindungen überführt werden können. Geeignete Dotierstoffe sind beispielsweise Alkaliverbindungen wie Kaliumverbindungen, beispielsweise Kaliumacetat . Alle weiteren dem Fachmann bekannten Do- tierstoffe zur Erhöhung der Katalysatoraktivität oder der Katalysatorselektivität sind ebenfalls möglich.
Zur Beladung mit Palladium und Gold können die Katalysator-Formkörper mit einer Palladiumsalz und Goldsalz enthaltenden Lösung imprägniert werden. Gleichzeitig mit der edelmetallhaltigen Lösung können die eingesetzten Trägermaterialien mit einer basischen Lösung imprägniert werden. Letztere dient zur Überführung der Palladiumverbindung und Goldverbindung in ihre Hydroxide. Geeignete Palladiumsalze sind beispielsweise Palladiumchlorid, Natrium- oder Kaliumpalladiumchlorid, Palladiumacetat oder Palladiumnitrat. Als Goldsalze eignen sich Gold ( I II ) -chlorid und Tetrachlorogold (III ) -säure . Die Verbindungen in der basischen Lösung sind vorzugsweise Kaliumhydroxid, Natriumhydroxid oder Natriummetasilika .
Die Umsetzung der Edelmetallsalzlösung mit der basischen Lösung zu unlöslichen Edelmetallverbindungen kann langsam erfolgen und ist je nach Präparationsmethode im Allgemeinen erst nach 1 bis 24 Stunden abgeschlossen. Danach werden die wasserunlöslichen Edelmetallverbindungen mit Reduktionsmitteln behandelt. Es kann eine Gasphasenreduktion beispielsweise mit Wasserstoff, Ethen oder Formiergas vorgenommen werden.
Vor und/oder nach der Reduktion der Edelmetallverbindungen kann das auf dem Träger gegebenenfalls vorhandene Chlorid durch eine gründliche Waschung mit Wasser entfernt werden. Nach der Waschung enthält der Katalysator bevorzugt weniger als 500 ppm Chlorid.
Die nach der Reduktion erhaltene Katalysatorvorstufe kann getrocknet und abschließend mit Alkaliacetaten oder Alkaliverbindungen, die sich unter den Reaktionsbedingungen bei der Produktion von Vinylacetatmo- nomer ganz oder teilweise in Alkaliacetate umwandeln, imprägniert werden. Vorzugsweise kann mit Kaliumacetat imprägniert werden.
Die Imprägnierung der Katalysator-Formkörper mit der Palladium- (verbindung) und der Gold (Verbindung) sowie der Alkaliverbindung und gegebenenfalls weiteren Dotierstoffen erfolgt jeweils mittels Tränken oder Besprühen der Katalysator-Formkörper. Wegen der erfindungsgemäßen Dimensionierung der Katalysator-Formkörper werden vollimprägnierte (durchimprägnierte) Katalysator-Formkörper erhalten, bei denen der
gesamte poröse Formkörper mit Palladium, Gold sowie der Alkaliverbindung und gegebenenfalls den Dotierstoffen durchdrungen (imprägniert) ist . Der fertige Katalysator kann anschließend bis auf eine Restfeuchte von weniger als 5 % getrocknet werden. Die Trocknung kann an Luft, gegebenenfalls unter Stickstoff, als Inertgas erfolgen.
Der Palladium-Gehalt der Pd/Alkali/Au-Katalysatoren beträgt 0,2 bis 5,0 Gew.-%, bevorzugt 0,3 bis 3,0 Gew.-%, jeweils bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Katalysator-Formkörper.
Der Gold-Gehalt der Pd/Alkali/Au-Katalysatoren beträgt 0,2 bis 5,0 Gew.-%, bevorzugt 0,3 bis 3,0 Gew.-%, jeweils bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Katalysator-Formkörper.
Der Alkali-Gehalt der Pd/Alkali/Au-Katalysatoren beträgt 0,5 bis 15 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 1,0 bis 12 Gew.-%, jeweils bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Katalysator-Formkörper.
Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung ist die Verwendung der erfin- dungsgemäßen Katalysator-Formkörper bei der Herstellung von Vinyl- acetat mittels Gasphasenoxidation von Essigsäure und Ethylen.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Katalysator-Formkörper zeigen im Vergleich zu anderen Trägerformen, niedrigere Druckverluste und einen besseren Stoff- und Wärmetransport. Die Bentonit-Formkörper zeichnen sich durch höhere mechanische Stabilität aus, beispielsweise im Vergleich zu Formkörpern aus Kieselsäure. Dies führt zu deutlich geringeren Druckverlusten und zu verbesserter Ausbeute und Selektivität. Beispiele:
Vergleichsbeispiel 1 :
4 Kilogramm pyrogene Kieselsäure (WACKER HDK® T40) wurden in 35 Kilo- gramm entionisiertem Wasser eingerührt. Durch Zugabe von Salzsäure wurde ein pH-Wert von 2,8 eingestellt und konstant gehalten. Unter ständigem Rühren wurden weitere 4,5 Kilogramm pyrogener Kieselsäure
(WACKER HDK® T40) eingerührt. Nach abgeschlossener Zugabe wurde für eine Dauer von weiteren 10 Minuten homogenisiert, bevor die Suspension für eine Dauer von 45 Minuten in einer Rührwerkskugelmühle mit Mahlperlen aus Siliciumnitrid (Durchmesser der Mahlperlen 2,0 mm, Füllgrad 70 Vol.-%) unter pH-Konstanz bei einem pH-Wert von 2,8 durch Zugabe weiterer Salzsäure vermählen wurde. Nach Abschluss der Mahlung wurde der Suspension unter ständigem Rühren eine wässrige Ammoniaklösung zugegeben, bis sich ein pH-Wert von 6,2 ergab und an diesem Punkt eine Vergelung der Masse erfolgte. Die erhaltene Masse wurde in einer Kolbenstrangpresse durch ein geeignetes Werkzeug verstrangt und geschnitten. Die erhaltenen Formkörper - in diesem Fall Hohlzylinder mit einer Länge von 5,5 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 5,5 mm und einer Bohrung von 2,5 mm - wurden 24 Stunden lang getrocknet bei einer Temperatur von 85 °C und einer Luftfeuchtigkeit von 70 % und anschließend für eine Dauer von 2 Stunden bei 900°C kalziniert.
500 Gramm des Trägermaterials wurden mit 375 Millilitern einer wäss- rigen Lösung imprägniert, die 27,60 Gramm einer 41,8 %igen (Gew.-%) Lösung von Tetrachlorogoldsäure und 42,20 Gramm einer 20,8 %igen
(Gew.-%) Lösung von Tetrachloropalladiumsäure enthielt. Nach einer Dauer von 2 Stunden wurde in einem nächsten Schritt der Katalysator bei einer Temperatur von 80 °C für eine Dauer von 5 Stunden im Vakuum getrocknet. Anschließend wurden 236 Milliliter einer 1 molaren Natri- umcarbonatlösung zusammen mit 139 Millilitern destilliertem Wasser aufgebracht. Nach einer Dauer von 2 Stunden wurde der Katalysator bei einer Temperatur von 80 °C für eine Dauer von 5 Stunden im Vakuum getrocknet. Anschließend wurde der Katalysator mit einer wässrigen Ammoniaklösung mit einem Anteil von 0,25 Gew.-% Ammoniak für eine Dauer von 45 Stunden gewaschen. Der Katalysator wurde bei einer Temperatur von 200°C für eine Dauer von 5 Stunden mit Formiergas (95 % N2 / 5 % H2) reduziert. Anschließend wurde der Katalysator mit einer Essigsäure-haltigen Kaliumacetat-Lösung imprägniert (71,65 Gramm Kaliumacetat in 375 Millilitern Essigsäure) und abschließend bei einer Temperatur von 80°C für eine Dauer von 5 Stunden im Vakuum getrocknet.
Der fertige Katalysator hatte eine Konzentration von 2,0 Gew.-% Palladium (7,4 g/1), 2,0 Gew.-% Gold (7,4 g/l)und 6,5 Gew.-% Kalium
(24,1 g/1) .
Vergleichsbeispiel 2 :
Es wurde analog Vergleichsbeispiel 1 vorgegangen mit dem Unterschied, dass die Masse in der Kolbenstrangpresse zu Formkörpern - in diesem Fall Ringe mit einer Länge von 1 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 4 mm und einer Bohrung von 2,5 mm - ausgeformt wurde.
Die Imprägnierung der Katalysator-Formkörper mit Palladium, Gold und Kalium erfolgte ebenfalls analog zu Vergleichsbeispiel 1. Der fertige Katalysator hatte ebenfalls eine Konzentration von 2,0 Gew.-% Palla- dium (7,4 g/1), 2,0Gew.-% Gold (7,4 g/l)und 6,5 Gew.-% Kalium (24,1 g/D ·
Beispiel 3: Es wurde analog Vergleichsbeispiel 1 vorgegangen mit dem Unterschied, dass anstellen der pyrogenen Kieselsäure Bentonit mit Wasser zu einem Teig verarbeitet wurde. Dieser Teig wurde mit einer Kolbenstrangpresse verstrangt und zu Formkörpern geschnitten. Die Formkörper wurden getrocknet und anschließend für eine Dauer von 2 Stunden bei 900 °C kalziniert. Es resultierten Ringe mit einer Länge von 1 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 4 mm und einer Bohrung von 2,5 mm.
Die Imprägnierung der Katalysator-Formkörper mit Palladium, Gold und Kalium erfolgte ebenfalls analog zu Vergleichsbeispiel 1. Der fertige Katalysator hatte ebenfalls eine Konzentration von 2,0 Gew.-% Palla- dium (7,4 g/1), 2,0Gew.-% Gold (7,4 g/l)und 6,5 Gew.-% Kalium (24,1 g/D ·
Aktivität und Selektivität der Katalysatoren aus den Vergleichsbeispielen 1 und 2 und dem Beispiel 3 wurden über die Dauer von 200 Stunden gemessen. Die Katalysatoren wurden in einem Öl temperierten Strömungsreaktor (Reaktorlänge 1200 mm, Innendurchmesser 19 mm) bei einem absoluten Druck von 9,5 bar und einer Raumgeschwindigkeit (GHSV) von 3500 Nra3/ (m3*h) mit folgender Gaszusammensetzung geprüft: 60 Vol.-% Ethen, 19,5 Vol . -% Kohlendioxid, 13 Vol.-% Essigsäure und 7,5 Vol . -% Sauerstoff. Die Katalysatoren wurden im Temperaturbereich von 130°C bis 180°C, gemessen im Katalysatorbett, untersucht.
Die Reaktionsprodukte wurden im Ausgang des Reaktors mittels online Gaschromatographie analysiert. Als Maß für die Katalysatoraktivität wurde die Raum-Zeit-Ausbeute des Katalysators in Gramm Vinylacetatmo- nomer pro Stunde und Liter Katalysator (g (VAM) /lKat*h) bestimmt. Koh- lendioxid, das insbesondere durch die Verbrennung von Ethen gebildet wird, wurde ebenfalls bestimmt und zur Beurteilung der Katalysatorselektivität herangezogen.

Claims
Patentansprüche :
Katalysator-Formkörper, welche mit Palladium und Gold sowie einer Alkaliverbindung und gegebenenfalls weiteren Dotierstoffen durchimprägniert sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Katalysator-Formkörper aus Bentonit gefertigt sind, in Form von Ringen mit einer Länge von 1 mm bis 2 mm, einem Außendurchmesser von 3 mm bis 5 mm, einem Innendurchmesser von 2 mm bis 3 mm und einer Wandstärke von 0,5 mm bis 1,5 mm.
Katalysator-Formkörper nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Katalysator-Formkörper aus sauer aktiviertem Bentonit gefertigt sind.
Katalysator-Formkörper nach Anspruch 1 bis 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Alkaliverbindung Kaliumacetat eingesetzt wird .
Katalysator-Formkörper nach Anspruch 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Palladium-Gehalt 0,2 bis 5,0 Gew.-% beträgt.
Katalysator-Formkörper nach Anspruch 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Gold-Gehalt 0,2 bis 5,0 Gew.-%, beträgt.
Katalysator-Formkörper nach Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Alkali-Gehalt 0,5 bis 15 Gew.-% beträgt.
7. Verwendung der Katalysator-Formkörper nach Anspruch 1 bis 6 bei der Herstellung von Vinylacetat mittels Gasphasenoxidation von Essigsäure und Ethylen.
