Definitions
- the present invention can be included in the technical field of procedures for calculating the power generated by power plants based on intermittent sources of energy.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a method of calculating the power generated by a set of photovoltaic (PV) systems dispersed in the same climatic region from only irradiance data incident at one point, faithfully reproducing the dynamics in the power generated by the set of PV systems in all relevant parameters for the operator of the electrical system (transport and / or distribution), thus being able to check the robustness of the network in terms of voltage and frequency without the need for monitoring and / or telemetry of PV systems.
- PV photovoltaic
- Photovoltaic solar energy produces, depending on the global radiation available, which depends, for a given location, on the day of the year and time of day, but also on weather effects such as clouds or aerosols at the specific location of the PV panels.
- the cloudiness is complex to predict and rapid in its effects so it can produce fluctuations in the production of photovoltaic plants that create problems in the stability of the electrical system.
- the operators of the electrical system, both distribution and transport need to emulate and analyze the effect of power fluctuations generated by PV systems in the electricity grid. In this way, they can check if there are risks to the stability and quality of the electricity supply in different scenarios of photovoltaic penetration.
- obtaining time series of power generated by a set of PV systems either in real time or past, is very expensive. It is not only necessary to install a measuring device in each of the systems, but devices that guarantee synchrony between all the measurements, to register the generation as it happens in reality.
- a simpler first option is to record the irradiance at one point and consider its dynamics equal to the power dynamics of the PV system or grouping of PV systems.
- power fluctuations are attenuated with respect to irradiance.
- the first is the size of the photovoltaic system: the fluctuations are attenuated proportionally to the square root of the surface, that is, for the same temporary observation window, the larger the surface of the photovoltaic system, the lower the power fluctuations with respect to irradiance.
- the second is the geographical dispersion: for the same photovoltaic power to be installed, the power fluctuations are smaller if that same power is distributed evenly in N systems, achieving a reduction in fluctuations proportional to the square root of N.
- the first of these is the creation of networks of multiple synchronized sensors and averaging their measurements.
- this network is an expensive and difficult technical implementation system.
- it has been proposed to emulate the size attenuating effect by filtering the irradiance measurements, either by a window filter or by a low pass filter, where the cutoff frequency of both is adjusted to according to system size.
- both methods are valid, they can only be applied for a single PV system.
- emulators based on complex mathematical transforms (wavelet) can be found that allow characterizing the reduction of fluctuations in a dispersed PV system or system.
- the emulator in addition to requiring the irradiance recorded at one point, needs for its configuration daily mathematical parameters such as cloud speed, which are not much less obvious, because they depend on the weather conditions of the specific day that is intended to emulate.
- daily mathematical parameters such as cloud speed, which are not much less obvious, because they depend on the weather conditions of the specific day that is intended to emulate.
- WVM Wavelet-Based Variability Model
- the present invention solves the technical problem posed, by means of a method that provides the power that would generate a set of dispersed PV systems based solely on incident irradiance measurements at a given location.
- the procedure is based on the two natural fluctuation mitigation mechanisms: surface and geographic dispersion.
- the calculation of the generated power is carried out, in the process of the present invention, by a first stage composed of a transfer function that provides a power signal similar to that of a single PV system, by filtering the signal of irradiance in the plane of the PV generator, where the pole of the transfer function is proportional to the average surface occupied by each of the PV systems.
- the next stage is composed of a transfer function that provides a power signal similar to that of a group of PV systems, where the zero of the transfer function is proportional to the number of grouped systems and the pole is a fixed value.
- This transfer function simulates the attenuation by geographical dispersion
- the signal obtained from this stage corresponds to the power generated simultaneously by the grouping of dispersed PV systems.
- This artificially generated power profile faithfully reproduces the dynamic content that would have a real grouping formed of PV systems, even in daily parameters such as maximum fluctuation or the number of fluctuations that take place throughout the day. Both parameters are of great interest to the operators of the electrical system.
- the source of input data to the procedure can be irradiance predicted by meteorological services instead of measurement.
- the procedure is easily configurable, as it is defined with only two parameters: number of PV systems considered and their average surface area. In this way, you can adapt to any scenario which you want to carry out the procedure. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
