Abstract

A display device for an image display unit configured to generate an image using an array of pixels emitting light. The display device may include a transparent substrate, such as a glass substrate, and a light-absorbing layer. The transparent substrate has an input side facing the image display unit and an output side opposed to the input side. The light-absorbing layer may be disposed on the output side of the transparent substrate. In addition, the light-absorbing layer may include an array of apertures extending through the light-absorbing layer and configured to allow the light emitted from the array of pixels to pass through.
